Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 100-The End
This is it — the final episode of this season of Your Morning Cup of Tea. And we’re closing with a blessing. Anchored in Numbers 6:24-26, the oldest recorded blessing in Scripture, this episode is a sending. A commissioning. A declaration spoken over every person who has gathered around this little cup of tea: the Lord bless you and keep you. His face shines on you. You are covered. You are known. You are not alone. This is not goodbye. This is until we meet againSign up for my mailing list! I want to keep you in the loop 😊. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 99
What do you do when something you've loved — something you've built, poured into, and given your heart to — comes to an end? In Episode 4 of our Finishing Well series, we sit with one of the most powerful images Jesus ever used: a seed going into the ground. Anchored in John 12:24, this episode is an invitation to reframe every ending in your life. You are not buried. You are planted. And planted things don't stay in the ground forever. They grow into something far greater than the seed ever was. The harvest is coming. You just can't see it from underground yet.Shoutout to my sister Min. Loretta Grissom whose sermon “Seed Theology” was the inspiration for this episode! Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

Mornig Cup of Tea: Episode 98
Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do at the end of a season is admit what you haven’t figured out yet. In Episode 3 of our Finishing Well series, I get honest about the lessons I’m still learning. Anchored in Philippians 1:6, this episode is an invitation to release the pressure of having it all together and embrace the truth that being a work in progress is a sign that God is still at work. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. The work isn’t finished. There’s still more to be done. Thankfully, God has a plan, and you’re not the one in control of it. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 97
What do you do when you don’t know what God said…and therefore you’re not sure what He meant? In Episode 2 of our Finishing Well series, I get honest about one of the most common and most uncomfortable places in the faith journey: the in-between. The season of uncertainty. The moment when you trust God but can’t quite make out His voice yet. Anchored in Proverbs 3:5-6, this episode is an invitation for us to stop trying to figure it out harder and start trusting deeper. Because He will make our paths straight, even when we can’t see the path yet. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 96
We are entering the final five episodes of Morning Cup of Tea! We are 5 episodes away from 100, and I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years! So as we’re winding down, we’re also starting where every good closing should begin — with gratitude. Anchored in Lamentations 3:22-23, this episode is an invitation to pause and look back at the faithfulness of God across every season of your journey, the mountaintop moments and the wilderness ones too. His compassions never failed you. His mercies were new every morning. And if you’ve been running so hard toward what’s next that you forgot to celebrate how far He’s already brought you, this episode is for you (and me!). It Tried to Kill Me. But God...
March 23, 2018, changed everything. What started as a regular day became the beginning of a new life I did not ask for, but one God has sustained me through for eight years. This week on Morning Cup of Tea, I’m sharing what it means to live after survival. The questions, the adjustments, and the quiet realization that God’s favor does not always prevent the hard moments. Sometimes it carries you through them.If you’ve ever had a moment that split your life into before and after, this conversation is for you.Because you’re still here. And that still means something. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 93
Holy Resistance Week Two looks at the quiet courage of Esther. Positioned inside a powerful empire, Esther teaches us that influence requires discernment, strategy, and sometimes sacrifice. In this episode, we explore how prayer guides our decisions, why discernment matters in the spaces where we lead and serve, and how God often places His people exactly where they are needed most. This episode examines how culture shapes our thinking, how patterns form quietly over time, and why renewal of the mind is the foundation for living faithfully. If you have ever felt the tension between fitting in and standing firm, this conversation is for you. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 91
We quote Exodus 20:8–10, but do we actually live it?In this episode, we sit with God’s command to “remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”For women who carry a lot, who build, lead, serve, and show up, Sabbath can feel optional. Or inconvenient. Or earned.Today, we explore why stopping is sacred, why hustle is not the same as holiness, and how Sabbath is less about productivity and more about trust. If you have been tired. If you have been late. If you have been running. This is your reminder.Stop. Breathe. Remember. Also, check out the article I recently wrote for PROVOKED Magazine titled "The Things I Carried Nearly Killed Me." I’m usually super self-critical about my writing. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 90
We’ve been taught that hustle equals faithfulness. That if we stop moving, planning, producing, and proving, everything will fall apart. But Psalm 46:10 interrupts that narrative.“Be still, and know that I am God.”In this episode of Living a Resurrected Life, we wrestle with what it really means to choose faith over hustle. Not laziness. Not irresponsibility. But surrender. The kind that releases panic, control, and the exhausting need to secure our own outcomes. If you’ve been striving, overworking, overthinking, or carrying what only God can hold, this conversation is for you. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 89
Rebuilding doesn’t mean you failed. It means you survived something that changed you.In this week’s episode, we sit with part of Isaiah 61:3 and talk about the parts of life we don’t rush to post. The ashes. The ruins. The slow, quiet work of putting things back together after disappointment, loss, burnout, or broken expectations. This conversation is for the women who are rebuilding faith, confidence, relationships, or hope one brick at a time. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 88
There comes a point in life when the pressure to “catch up” gets heavy. In the opening episode of the Grace for Grown Women series, we sit with Ecclesiastes 3:1 and tell the truth about seasons, timing, and the quiet fear that we should be further along by now. This episode speaks to women navigating slower seasons, unanswered prayers, and timelines that didn’t unfold as planned. A reminder that God’s timing is intentional, faithful, and still at work. All Things Still Work Together. Even That.
“All things work together” sounds good until you start naming the things. In this episode, we sit with Romans 8:28 and the story of Rahab in Joshua 2 to tell the truth about how God actually works. Not through polished stories, but through messy survival, complicated faith, and courage born under pressure. This conversation is for the woman who wonders whether her past disqualifies her, whether her detours delayed her, or whether her story is too much. Spoiler alert. Nothing was wasted. God used that, too. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

You, Sis. Your Name Belongs Among These
In the final episode of She Believed God: Women Who Dared to Trust, we are invited to see ourselves in the story of faith. Drawing from Hebrews 11:1–2 and 39–40, this episode reminds us that faith did not end with the women named in scripture. Our everyday obedience, unfinished prayers, and quiet trust still matter. We are part of what God is still writing, and our names belong among those who dared to believe Him. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

“At that time, Deborah, a prophet, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel.” Judges 4:4 (NRSVUE)Deborah didn’t wait for permission to lead. She was appointed, and she didn’t apologize for it. In this episode, we sit with Judges 4 and explore what it means to move forward in obedience when others hesitate. This conversation is for you if you hear God clearly, carry responsibility faithfully, and are learning that courage sometimes means going first. If you’ve been waiting for consensus to move instead of the clarity God already gave you, pull up a seat. This cup of tea is for you. “There is no greater God. He is God in heaven above and on the earth below.” Joshua 2:11What does it look like to believe God before the walls fall? In this episode, we’ll reflect on Rahab’s bold declaration in Joshua 2:11 and challenge ourselves to examine where we are waiting for proof instead of trusting God’s sovereignty now. Mary’s response in Luke 1:38 is one of the quietest yet boldest acts of faith in scripture. Psalm 34:18 promises that God is close to the brokenhearted, and today we sit with the tenderness of that truth. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 81
Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times, Elijah told him to go and look. Finally, the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea….” 1 Kings 18:41-44What does it look like to trust God when the sky refuses to cooperate? In this episode, we dig into Elijah’s persistence in 1 Kings 18:41–44 and the suspense between God’s promise and what we see in real time. If you’ve ever wondered whether the small signs in your life are enough, this conversation is for you. Sometimes the miracle starts tiny (a cloud the size of a man’s hand, perhaps), but when God breathes on it, that small beginning becomes a downpour. Settle in, exhale, and let’s talk about what it means to prepare before the rain arrives. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

This week on your Morning Cup of Tea, we lean into one of the most tender tensions of the Christian walk. Through the story of a desperate father and my own lived faith, I hope to remind you that doubt is not a spiritual failure. It is an honest doorway where God steps in and steadies us. If your faith has been trembling lately, this episode invites you to breathe, tell the truth, and let God meet you right where you are. Psalm 27:14. “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”The Ministry of Waiting WellWaiting is not for the faint of heart. It stretches you. It humbles you. It asks you to trust God when nothing around you is moving the way you hoped. In this episode, let’s get real about the quiet courage it takes to wait well and the spiritual maturity God grows in the space between your prayer and His answer.Using Psalm 27:14 as our anchor, we explore the tender, uncomfortable, holy work God does while we stand still. If you’ve ever wondered whether God sees you, hears you, or remembers what He promised you, this is your reminder that He does.Come sit with me. Let’s breathe. Let’s stretch. And let’s learn what it means to wait bravely, honestly, and faithfully because God is still moving, even when you can’t see it.Note: If you don’t want to complete this week’s Call to Action by hand, check out this website: FutureMe.org. Habakkuk 2:3: “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently. For it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”Waiting doesn’t always look patient. Sometimes it looks like praying with confidence, only to cry five minutes later. Sometimes it looks like believing God wholeheartedly and still wondering why the answer feels overdue. In this week’s episode, we talk about that sacred stretch between what you prayed and what God promised. Through Habakkuk 2:3, we’re reminded that the vision still has an appointed time. Even when it feels slow. Even when you’re tired. Even when doubt keeps tapping you on the shoulder. This episode invites you to see the in-between not as punishment, but as preparation. A refining place where God aligns your heart, strengthens your faith, and builds the capacity you’ll need for the miracle on the way. Sometimes it looks like smiling at church, serving faithfully, and scrolling through group texts that never include your name. In this week’s episode, we get transparent about those quiet moments when faith and isolation collide; when you can love God deeply and still ache for connection.Through Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:16-17, we’re reminded that even when everyone else walks away, the Lord still stands beside us. “But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.” — James 3:14-16 (NLT)Sometimes the hardest truths are the quietest ones, the thoughts we never say out loud. In this week’s episode, we get real about jealousy, that silent thief of peace that creeps in when we compare our journeys to someone else’s. Through the wisdom of James 3:14-16, we are reminded that jealousy and selfish ambition don’t come from God’s kind of wisdom, and that freedom begins when we stop hiding what hurts.Sis, you don’t have to compete for what’s already yours. What do you do when the place that was supposed to heal you ends up hurting you? This week on Morning Cup of Tea, we’re getting honest about church hurt, the kind that makes you question your faith, your belonging, and even your purpose. Psalm 147:3 reminds us that God “heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” He sees what happened. He’s not ignoring your pain, He’s tending to it. Sometimes “strong” becomes our default setting and our disguise. We carry everyone else’s needs, hold it all together, and silently break under the weight of it. In this first episode of our new series, The Things We Don’t Say, I invite us all to lay it all down and rest mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Drawing from Matthew 11:28, Jesus reminds is that He doesn’t ask us to perform or persevere our way to peace; He simply says, “Come.” If you’re tired of being the strong one, this episode is your permission to breathe again. “And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5We often think of a reset as simply starting over. But with God, a reset is never just about trying again. It’s about resurrection. In this bonus Week 5 episode of When God Hits Reset, we’ll take another look at women like the Samaritan woman, Mary Magdalene, and Naomi. “But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.” Jeremiah 18:4Sometimes life leaves us holding nothing but broken pieces, and it’s tempting to believe they can’t be used for anything good. But Jeremiah 18:4 reminds us that God is the potter, and He never throws the clay away. In this episode of When God Hits Reset, we’ll look at women like Hagar, Naomi, the Samaritan woman, and Mary Magdalene, women whose lives looked shattered, yet God reshaped their stories into something powerful. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 61
This month, I’m taking a little break from new episodes, but I’m bringing back some of my favorites, and this one? Whew. “Shut Up” is a necessary reminder that sometimes the most powerful thing we can say is… nothing at all.In this episode, I share how a shy, talkative only child (yep, me) became someone called to speak and why that call comes with the responsibility to know when to speak and when to be silent. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue, and this conversation is all about learning to speak life, not just over others, but over yourself. If you’ve ever struggled with taming your tongue, overthinking your words, or silencing the noise in your head long enough to hear God clearly, this episode will meet you right where you are. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 60
Hey there! Last week, I mentioned that I was taking a vacation from all things podcasting and such for the Month of July, and each week, I would share one of my favorite previous podcast episodes. This week, I’m bringing back one of my favorite solo episodes—“It’s My Reputation.” We’re diving into Ezekiel 36:26, a verse that sounds comforting on the surface: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you…” But when you read the full context? Whew. It hits different.God wasn’t handing out fresh starts just to be nice. He did it to protect His own reputation. In this episode, I walk through what that means for us as believers. Because sometimes, doing right by folks isn’t about them. It’s about the God we represent. Our name, our witness, and our testimony are always on display. If that feels too heavy right now, I see you. Please feel free to pause or skip this one. Your healing matters more than anything I have to say. This one is raw. It’s the kind of story most people skip over in Scripture because it’s too real, too messy, and for some, too close to home.In this episode of our Seen & Known series, we’re sitting with Tamar, a daughter of King David whose cries for help were ignored, whose pain was never properly addressed, and whose life was forever changed by what was done to her… and what was left undone by those who should’ve protected her.If you’ve ever felt silenced, overlooked, or left to carry pain in isolation, you may find yourself here. We’re not rushing to resolution here. We’re naming what hurts, honoring what was lost, and remembering the God who sees when everyone else looks away.Tamar’s story still speaks. And beloved, so does yours. Today, we’re talking about Priscilla, a woman whose name we need to teach, say, and remember. She was a theologian. A leader. A voice in the early church. And yes, she was a woman doing all of that in a man’s world (cue James Brown). She wasn’t just someone’s wife. She wasn’t just helping out. Priscilla was a bold, wise, and Spirit-filled teacher of the Gospel, and she didn’t wait for a pulpit or permission to walk in her calling. In this episode, we’re digging into her story, the woman who corrected a preacher, discipled with grace, and helped shape the early church. If you’ve ever felt overlooked in ministry, silenced in rooms where you carried truth, or unsure if your voice even belonged, this one’s for you.Because even in a man’s world, God still calls women to lead. Hey! Before we get started, I want to invite you to join my email list. There is a more extended version of this podcast in blog form if you like a good read. Just click the link to join 🙂Living a Resurrected Life Email ListNot every woman in the Bible had a spotlight. Some were never named. Some were only mentioned once. And others, well, their stories were told through the lens of someone else’s failure, not their own faith. But just because their names weren’t recorded, or their stories were overlooked, doesn’t mean they were forgotten. Not by God. And not by us.That’s why I’m starting this new series: "Seen & Known: Women Whose Stories Still Speak."This is for every woman who’s ever felt invisible, dismissed, silenced, or misjudged, and who wonders, "Does my story matter?"The short answer is “yes.”Some of their names you might know. Some you won’t. But all of them show us this:Even when people overlook you, God never does.First up, Bathseba. She was more than David’s mistake. She was chosen, too. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 52
Do you ever look in the mirror and think, "God must have a sense of humor?" Because let's be real, y'all—some days, we are a whole mess. I mean, we start off with good intentions, like promising ourselves (again) we're gonna speak kindly, stay patient, and maybe even keep our minds focused during prayer this time. But five minutes later, there we are, knee-deep in frustration, eye-rolling so hard we're checking out the back of our brains, and wondering if grace has a daily limit. Here's the wild part, though: God sees every single bit of that mess, and loves us anyway. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 51
Have you ever had your whole day planned—like, color-coded calendar, to-do list on point, outfit matching the vibe—and then God just... interrupts it? Not with a whisper, not with a gentle nudge, but with a holy plot twist that leaves you blinking at the ceiling like, "Wait... what just happened?"Yeah. Me too.I used to think divine interruptions were punishments. Like maybe I didn’t pray enough, or plan well enough, or drink enough water (I mean, hydration is biblical, right?). But somewhere between my perfectly laid plans and God’s sovereign detours, I learned something: interruption is often the invitation. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 50
Let’s talk openly for a second. Have you ever found yourself staring at a situation that felt absolutely hopeless? I'm talking about those moments when life hits so hard it knocks the wind out of you. Maybe it's a loss so deep, an injustice so bitter, or grief so consuming you can't imagine taking another step. I've been there. In fact, our family has faced this head-on in a way I rarely share.Father's Day weekend, 2017, my husband's mother, father, and oldest son were tragically murdered in a senseless home invasion. They were innocent, beautiful souls just living peacefully in their home when violence shattered our lives. As my husband's wife, their bonus mom, and daughter-in-law, watching him grapple with this unimaginable loss broke something deep within me. Grief like this isn't neat—it’s raw, messy, and relentless. Get full access to Living A Resurrected Life at drchantrise.substack.com/subscribe

Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 49
Holy Week just ended. And if I’m honest, I’m still holding my breath. The emotional swing between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday is not for the faint of heart. One moment you’re standing at the foot of the cross, heartbroken and confused, and the next, you're trying to comprehend an empty tomb, wondering if joy could ever really rise from that much sorrow. This year, I couldn’t stop thinking about the women in Mark 16:1. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome. They weren’t just supporting characters in the resurrection story; they were the ones who showed up. After the brutal crucifixion. After the sky went dark. After hope seemed buried beneath a stone. When the dust of despair still lingered in the air, these women packed spices and headed to the tomb. And that wrecked me. Morning Cup of Tea: Episode 48
Alright, let’s just cut right to it. Letting go is really hard. And I'm not just talking about Marie Kondo-ing your closet (although, if you've seen mine lately, that struggle is very real). I'm talking about releasing control of the things closest to your heart: your kids, your dreams, your plans. You know, those things you’ve planned out perfectly in your head but somehow God didn't get the memo.Enter Jochebed. If you're thinking, "Who?" don't worry. I got you. Jochebed is the fiercely courageous mother of Moses (Exodus 2), and she knows a thing or two about letting go. Picture this: the Pharaoh decides every Hebrew baby boy must be thrown into the Nile. Jochebed had two choices—cling tightly and watch her baby be taken from her, or let him go and trust God completely. So, she places him in a basket and releases him onto the very river meant for his destruction. (Can you imagine the level of faith—and fear—that took?)Here's the real kicker. Jochebed ends up getting paid to nurse her own son! Now, sis, tell me God doesn’t look out for His own! He honored her courageous choice and turned what seemed like a loss into miraculous provision.Honestly, letting go terrifies me. I like control. I like to plan. I like things tidy and predictable. But life isn't tidy, and God rarely works predictably. Jochebed reminds me that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is loosen our grip, place our most cherished dreams, people, or situations in God’s hands, and let the river of His grace carry them.
