And it read, “Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” The Lord is encouraging us to take a moment to cleanse ourselves thoroughly and strive for purity within. Remove the sinful actions that have distanced us from righteousness; turn away from wrongdoing. Make it our mission to understand and practice what is right; actively pursue justice for all. Stand up for those who are oppressed, and advocate for what is good. As we pray, let our actions reflect a promise to justice and care for the weak.
