#143 Finding Your Power Through Movement: The Hip Hop Tribe Experience

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I sit down with the incredible Valerie Ioriatto , founder of the Hip Hop Tribe, and wow… this conversation is so much bigger than dance. This is about identity, confidence, community, and what happens when you finally stop dimming your light and step into something that feels like YOU.Valerie shares her “messy story”—from climbing the corporate ladder, chasing success, and still feeling like something was missing… to a simple text that changed everything: “Do you miss dancing?” That one question sparked what would become a powerful movement helping women reconnect with themselves through music, movement, and community. What started as a once-a-month dance party turned into a full-blown experience—now spanning hundreds of classes, multiple studios, and a thriving tribe of people showing up not just to dance… but to feel alive again. And let me just say—I experienced this firsthand. Walking into that room, completely out of my comfort zone, I expected awkward. What I got instead? Acceptance. Energy. Empowerment. And honestly… a version of myself I didn’t even realize I was missing. This isn’t about learning choreography. It’s about learning yourself. It’s about stepping into a space where there’s no judgment, no comparison, no negativity—just women (and a few brave men!) lifting each other up, celebrating each other, and creating something truly rare: a safe place to be fully seen.We talk about: ✨ Why success doesn’t always equal fulfillment ✨ How movement unlocks confidence and emotional release ✨ The power of community in healing and growth ✨ Creating a space free of gossip, negativity, and judgment ✨ Why “don’t dim your light” is more than just a phrase—it’s a lifestyle ✨ How small habits and energy shifts can completely change your lifeValerie breaks down how dance impacts not just your body, but your brain, your mood, your relationships, and your ability to dream bigger. From oxytocin and connection to confidence and clarity—this is wellness in a way that feels fun, freeing, and real. And the biggest takeaway? You don’t have to be a dancer. You just have to show up.Because sometimes the most powerful transformation starts the moment you walk into a room and decide… I belong here.We wrap with an incredible reminder: Energy shifts everything. Your thoughts shape your words, your words shape your actions, and your actions shape your future. So if you can change your energy—you can change your life. And honestly? That’s exactly what this experience does.If you’ve ever felt stuck, disconnected, or like you’ve lost a piece of yourself… this episode is your sign to go find it again. So go take up space. Go move your body. Go stop dimming your light. And as always… keep it messy. 💖Connect with Valerie:On Instagram @hiphop_tribe

#142 When Your Body Says No But Your Mind Says Go

Send us Fan MailThis episode? Whew… it’s a real one.I’m coming off what should have been a high—an “aha” week full of connection, growth, and stepping into what I know I’m meant to be doing. And yet… at the exact same time, my body is waving the white flag.If you’re living with chronic illness—especially my Hashimoto’s girls—you already know. This kind of fatigue? It’s not “I’m tired.” It’s not “I need a nap.” It’s a deep, unrelenting, full-body shutdown that doesn’t care how motivated, inspired, or driven you are.And that’s where I’m at right now.I’m trying to build, create, connect, show up, finish my book, be present for my family… and my body is like, “Nope. Not today.” 😅In this episode, I’m opening up about what it really looks like to build a wellness brand while still being in the thick of it. The flare-ups. The blood sugar swings. The inflammation. The burnout. The moments where I question myself and think—how can I possibly lead in this space when I don’t have it all figured out?But maybe… that’s exactly the point.Because the truth is, I don’t have it all figured out. And neither do you. And maybe we’re not supposed to.We’re just supposed to keep showing up—messy, honest, and willing to figure it out one step at a time.I talk about the mental battle between momentum and rest… the guilt that comes with slowing down… and the discipline it takes to actually listen to your body (even when you don’t want to). I share how I’m trying to shift my routine, create space for recovery, and stop treating my body like it’s something to push through instead of something to partner with. There’s humor in here too—because if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry. From “which version of me are you getting today?” to the autoimmune roulette joke… sometimes laughter is the only way through. But at the core of this episode is one reminder I needed—and maybe you do too:You are enough. Even when you’re tired. Even when you have to slow down. Even when you’re not operating at 100%.I’m learning (in real time) that strength isn’t just in pushing harder… it’s in knowing when to pause. So if you’re in a season where your body is asking you to slow down, but your heart is ready to go all in—this one’s for you. We’re figuring this out together. 🤍

#141 If I Had to Start My Wellness Journey Over… I’d Do THIS First

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m reflecting on my wellness journey and getting real about what has actually worked for me—and what hasn’t. After sharing some feedback from last week’s conversation about juicing versus eating whole foods, I wanted to simplify things and offer a kind of “from scratch” approach. If I had to start my wellness journey all over again, what would I actually do? Not the trendy stuff, not the overwhelming list of supplements—but the true non-negotiables that made the biggest difference for me.I open up about where I’m still struggling—weight, perimenopause, insulin sensitivity, cortisol spikes—and how messy this journey continues to be. I’m not here to wrap it up with a pretty bow. I’m living it in real time, just like so many of you. That’s exactly why I want to make this easier for anyone just starting out, so you can skip the trial-and-error and go straight to what truly matters.I also touch on the importance of limiting phone use and reducing the constant noise we’re exposed to. Whether it’s doom scrolling, news, or even just mindless content, it all impacts our nervous system more than we realize. Learning to step away and create space for quiet, reflection, or real connection has been huge.I emphasize that while supplements and weightlifting have their place in my routine now, they weren’t where I started. These foundational habits came first. And if you’re at the beginning of your journey, that’s where I’d tell you to start too. This episode is really about simplifying wellness, removing the overwhelm, and reminding you that you can do this. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s going to be messy—but that’s exactly where the growth happens.Keep it Messy

#140 Wellness Hacks or Wellness Chaos? Let’s Talk Trends

Send us Fan Mail  Hey my messy people! 💥In this episode, I’m diving into some of the wild wellness trends floating around TikTok and the health space right now—and let’s just say… not all of them are it. 😅I’m all for a good hack (you KNOW I am), especially when it comes to navigating Type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto’s, hormones, and everything in between. But at some point, we’ve got to pause and ask: 👉 Does this actually make sense for my body?Because here’s the truth—wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all. What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa. The real goal? Becoming the best version of YOU in your own body.So today, I’m breaking down a few trending “health hacks” and giving you my real, no-BS take on what’s helpful… and what might just be adding to the noise. Here’s what I really want you to take away from this episode:We are drowning in options. And sometimes? More options = more confusion. So instead of chasing every trend, ask yourself: What is my goal?  What makes MY body feel good?  Does this actually make sense? Because at the end of the day, wellness doesn’t come from hacks… It comes from consistency, simplicity, and understanding your body.Honestly? We might be better off going back to how our grandparents ate. 🍳Whole foods. Simple ingredients. Less noise.I’m not anti-innovation. I’m not anti-options. But I am pro-common sense. So let’s stop overcomplicating things and start tuning back into what actually works. And hey—if you’ve tried any of these trends, I want to hear from you! 👇Come hang out with me on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube— and don’t forget, if you’ve got a messy story… I’m all ears. 💖More incredible interviews and summer content coming your way soon ☀️Until next time… Keep it messy. ✨

#139 From Diagnosis to Empowerment: A Type 1 Diabetes Story You Need to Hear

Send us Fan Mail  Hey my messy warriors 💖This episode is such a special one for me. I had the absolute honor of sitting down with fellow Type 1 Diabetic badass, Kelsey Lynn Stokes—and let me tell you… her story? It’s powerful, it’s messy, and it’s REAL.I actually found Kelsey on TikTok (which yes… can be a little scary sliding into those DMs 😅), but I knew instantly I wanted her on the show. Her energy, her honesty, and her willingness to share her journey is exactly what this space is about—representation, resilience, and reminding you that you are NOT alone in this.We dive into what it’s really like living with Type 1 Diabetes—not just the numbers, not just the tech—but the mental battles, the burnout, the grit it takes to show up every single day.Kelsey shares her diagnosis story at just 13 years old, navigating life overseas without proper support, and how misinformation and lack of understanding shaped her early years. And you guys… this is why I’m so passionate about talking about this—because the narrative used to be SO different. Fear-based. Limiting. Honestly? Damaging. But here’s what I love—this episode flips that script. We talk about how far technology has come, how people are living LONG, full lives with T1D (shoutout to Carol with 50+ years 🙌), and why it’s so important for newly diagnosed individuals to see what’s possible. Now… this is where it gets intense.Kelsey shares the moment her life took a turn—running the New York City Marathon (yes, like an absolute warrior 💪), experiencing severe chest pain mid-race… and STILL finishing. Only to later find out she was dealing with a serious underlying infection and complications that landed her in the hospital. And this is the part that hit me hard…How many of us are pushing through symptoms? How many of us are told we’re “fine” when we’re not? How many of us don’t realize how bad we felt until we finally feel better? That conversation right there… whew.We also talk about burnout—because let’s be real… we don’t get a break. Ever. And sometimes the strongest thing you can do is NOT push through, but actually pause, take care of yourself, and refill your cup.And one of my favorite parts of this episode? Kelsey taking her own struggles and turning them into something powerful—creating a product that supports women with diabetes so they can feel confident, feminine, and FUNCTIONAL without sacrificing their care.Because representation matters. Because innovation matters. Because feeling GOOD in your own skin matters. This episode is about resilience. It’s about advocacy. It’s about choosing—over and over again—not to be a victim of your circumstances.Messy warriors… this one is going to stick with you 💥Connect with Kelsey Lynn Stokes:https://www.instagram.com/thewanderingdiabetic/https://www.tiktok.com/@thewanderingdiabeticCALYCANTHUS:https://calycanthuslingerie.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@calycanthuslingeriehttps://www.instagram.com/calycanthuslingerie/

#138 Big Emotions, Better Responses: The Truth About Distress Tolerance

Send us Fan MailHeyyyy my messy warriors 💥Let’s talk about something REAL today… because if you’ve ever snapped, shut down, overreacted, or said something and immediately thought “why did I just do that?”—this episode is for you. We’re diving into distress tolerance… aka how to actually handle big emotions without letting them run the show.Because here’s the truth 👇 👉 It’s not that you’re “too emotional” 👉 It’s that no one ever taught you what to do with those emotionsAnd that’s exactly what we’re unpacking today. We also go into something I see ALL the time 👀 👉 Hiding behind “I’m just speaking my truth” when it’s really unprocessed emotion coming out sidewaysBecause let’s be honest…There’s a difference between: 💬 expressing how you feel and 💥 firing it at someoneAnd if you can’t sit with the emotion… you will throw it.And remember this, because this one hits…👉 Your feelings are always valid… but your delivery is still your responsibility. We’re not aiming for perfection over here—we’re aiming for awareness, growth, and shortening that gap between reaction and reflection.Because being real doesn’t mean being reckless… and your truth deserves to be delivered—not dumped. And if you’re ready to take this work even deeper—especially when it comes to building mental toughness and real-life grit—you’re not going to want to miss what’s coming next 👀My brand new “Messy” Challenge is dropping this April… and it’s designed to help you strengthen your mindset, regulate your emotions, and take action—even when things feel hard. And for those of you who have ever thought… 👉 “I feel like I have something to say… maybe I should start a podcast?”But then immediately follow it with… “Where do I even begin?” 😅I’ve got you.Be on the lookout for my upcoming “Basics of Podcasting” Masterclass—where I’ll walk you through everything you need to get started (and actually follow through).Because your voice matters… and it’s time to use it 💥

#137 Mental Toughness & Grit: What a LAPD Veteran Taught Me (Featuring My Dad)

Send us Fan MailHey messy warriors… this one is special.  Like, really special. 💥Today’s episode is not just another conversation—it’s a full circle moment. I’m sitting down with someone who quite literally helped shape the way I think about life, discipline, grit, and what it truly means to not quit… my dad.Yes… my dad. ❤️A retired Los Angeles Police Department officer with a long, distinguished career, my dad (Curtis Wilson) has seen things, lived things, and embodied a level of mental toughness and grit that most people will never fully understand. And today, we’re unpacking what that actually looks like—not just in high-stakes, life-or-death situations… but in everyday life. This episode is about more than stories. It’s about how you build resilience, where it comes from, and why knowing your why might be the most important thing you ever do.From the very beginning, we dive into what mental toughness really means. Not the fluffy version… the real version. The kind that’s built when quitting is not an option. My dad shares how that mindset didn’t start in his career—it started in childhood, being raised in an environment where quitting simply wasn’t allowed. That foundation carried him through the police academy, the streets, and some of the most intense moments of his career. One of the biggest takeaways?👉 Nobody is coming. That hit hard. Because it’s true. There comes a point where you realize—it’s on YOU. Your life, your growth, your discipline… your responsibility. That’s where grit is born. That’s where mental toughness is forged. We also get into something I LOVED (and honestly… might flip how you think about things):👉 Discipline comes before motivation. Not the other way around. You don’t wait to feel motivated—you move first. You show up first. You take the step. And THEN the motivation follows. That shift alone? Game changer. 💯And then we go deeper…We talk about why knowing your why matters so much. Because if you don’t have a reason—if you don’t have something pulling you forward—then it becomes way too easy to quit when things get hard.My dad knew his “why” early. He wanted that career. He wanted that life. And everything he did—from memorizing 500 words to overcome dyslexia, to pushing through brutal physical demands—was tied back to that purpose. That’s the difference.👉 When you know your why, you don’t stop when it gets hard—you push harder. We also talk about:The difference between being coddled vs. challenged—and how that impacts your ability to handle life Why putting in the reps (over and over again) is what actually builds confidence What it means to “not let the old man in” and why that applies to ALL of us—no matter your age How discipline shows up in the smallest daily decisions (like getting out the door when you don’t want to) And why you don’t need to be the best—you just need to keep showing upThis episode is raw. It’s real. It’s powerful. And for me personally… it’s a reminder of where a lot of my own mindset was built. If you’ve ever felt stuck… if you’ve ever wanted to quit… if you’ve ever wondered where to find that extra gear…This one’s for you. 💥Connect with Curtis WIlson on Instagram @readygodefense 🎧 Tag me when you listen @EverythingsMessyWellness 💬 Share your biggest takeaway—what’s YOUR why? ⭐ And if this episode hit home, don’t forget to leave a review

#136 Restoring the Signal: A Conversation About Myo-Inositol

Send us Fan MailHey messy warriors — in this episode, I’m diving into a supplement that has been making a lot of noise in the wellness world lately: myo-inositol. It may be trending right now, but after digging into the research, I wanted to break down why so many people are talking about it and what it might actually be doing in the body.In this episode, I unpack myo-inositol in a simple, practical way and talk about how it may support communication between some of the body’s major systems — including hormones, insulin, thyroid function, and neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and GABA. I explain how sometimes things can look “normal” on paper, but still feel completely off in the body, and why that disconnect matters so much.I also dig into the connection between stress, cortisol, nervous system overload, metabolism, and hormone signaling, especially for women. Because when the body is stuck in survival mode, it doesn’t just affect mood — it can disrupt blood sugar, thyroid function, cycles, sleep, energy, and more. This is where the conversation gets bigger than one symptom, one hormone, or one system. It’s all connected. This episode is really about looking at the body as a whole. Not just asking, “What’s wrong?” but asking, “What disrupted the communication in the first place?” That’s a very different question — and in my opinion, a much more powerful one. 🙌Most of all, this episode is a reminder to stay curious, advocate for yourself, and keep going on your wellness journey — whether you’re just starting with a 10-minute walk or you’ve been at this for years. Every messy win counts, and I want to celebrate them with you. 💛If this episode speaks to you, send me a message and let me know what messy win you’re celebrating this week. I’d love to hear from you and keep building this community together.Stay Messy !

    #135 Fairways, Flip Flops & a Heart Wake-Up Call

Send us Fan MailOn this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast— today’s conversation is one of those “wow… we’re really not alone in this” episodes.I’m sitting down with Brian Blaylock, a US Navy veteran, high school golf coach, and a seriously impressive golfer (we’re talking five hole-in-ones… and yes, he’s known for setting course records in flip flops, which is iconic). But what brought us together wasn’t golf first—it was the heart story.Brian shares how his heart attack hit him in a way that didn’t look like what we’re “told” a heart attack is supposed to feel like. No dramatic chest pain. No obvious warning sign. Just days of feeling off, uneasy, almost like anxiety… until it became undeniable that something was really wrong. He found out he was having an active heart attack at 43 years old. And you guys… the parallels between his story and mine were WILD.We talk through the procedure (including the reality of blockages), the shock of being “healthy” and still having this happen, and the emotional piece that doesn’t get enough airtime—how your brain can keep whispering, “Is it happening again?” anytime you feel a little weird. Then we of course “shivot” (pivot and shivet together my fave made up word) into what changed after: Brian’s wife went full “clean house mode” (hello, Yuka app and the pantry purge 😅), their shift toward more organic/whole foods, and lifestyle changes like cutting alcohol. We also get into the tricky stuff—how confusing the medical messaging can be, how much we both dove down rabbit-holes after a health scare, and how hard it is to figure out what’s truly helping vs. what’s just loud “health PR.”We also nerd out a bit (but in a practical way) about vitamin D and why “being outside” doesn’t always mean your body is converting it well, and why D with K2 matters. And then because Brian IS a golfer, we bring it back to golf: the hole-in-one streak, coaching high school athletes, building young men into strong humans (not just better golfers), and how he uses his story to push other men to get checked—especially the ones who are always exhausted, headachy, and brushing it off. This one is messy, raw, funny in the best way, and honestly… it’s the kind of episode that can nudge someone to take their health seriously before life forces them to.A big shout out and thank you to Brian for taking the time to share his “messy” story and allow us all a chance to get to know him of course on the “golf level” and of course a big “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE". Until next time keep it messy! You can find Brian on Instagram @brianblalockgolf

#134 Autoimmune Disease: The Silent Struggle

Send us Fan Mail  On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast I get into March as it is Autoimmune Awareness Month, and this topic hits close to home for me. As someone living with Type 1 diabetes and Hashimoto’s, autoimmune disease isn’t just something I read about in a textbook—it’s something I navigate every single day.The truth is, autoimmune disease is far more common than most people realize. Millions of people are walking around dealing with symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, hormone disruption, inflammation, and blood sugar chaos without fully understanding what’s happening in their bodies. In this episode, I’m breaking down what autoimmune disease actually is, why it affects women at much higher rates, and some of the environmental and lifestyle triggers that may play a role in why we’re seeing autoimmune conditions rise so dramatically. We also dive into something that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough—the connection between gut health, stress, and immune function. Your immune system doesn’t just randomly decide to attack your body. There are signals, triggers, and patterns happening beneath the surface that deserve more attention. If you or someone you love is navigating autoimmune disease, this episode is meant to bring awareness, education, and hopefully a little empowerment. Because understanding what’s happening inside your body is one of the most powerful steps you can take toward better health.Remember, your body isn’t broken. Sometimes it’s just asking us to slow down, listen, and start connecting the dots. And as always, my messy warriors—keep finding strength through the mess. 💛

#133 Strong Women Still Have Heart Attacks – Part 2

Send us Fan Mail CRP, ApoB & What Your Labs Might Be MissingIn Part 1, I talked about the uncomfortable truth: strong women still have heart attacks. We talked about stress, nervous system overload, overtraining, inflammation, and the identity trap of being the woman who “handles it all.”Now in Part 2, we get tactical.Because awareness without action doesn’t protect your heart. As a heart attack survivor, I can tell you this — heart disease is not just about cholesterol. It is deeply connected to inflammation and metabolic health. And there are lab markers many women are never told to ask for.Let’s start with CRP.CRP stands for C-Reactive Protein. It’s essentially a smoke detector for inflammation in the body. If your CRP is elevated, something is irritating your system. It doesn’t tell you exactly where the problem is — but it tells you there is one.And inflamed arteries are not resilient arteries.Heart disease is largely an inflammatory process. You can look lean. You can be lifting weights. You can have “normal cholesterol.” But if your CRP is elevated, your cardiovascular system may still be under strain. Then we move into ApoB.ApoB measures the number of artery-damaging particles in your bloodstream. Not just how much cholesterol is inside them — but how many particles are circulating. That matters.Because plaque risk is more closely tied to particle number than cholesterol content alone. You can have LDL that looks “fine” on a standard panel, but if ApoB is elevated, your risk profile changes. We also touch on fasting insulin — one of the most overlooked markers in women’s heart health. You can have normal glucose and A1C and still have elevated insulin, which signals early metabolic dysfunction and increased inflammatory signaling.Heart disease often starts metabolically long before it becomes structural. This episode is not about fear. It’s about ownership. It’s about asking better questions. It’s about understanding that strength is not just how much you can lift — it’s how well you protect your heart. If you are the strong one, the capable one, the woman who pushes through exhaustion — this conversation is especially for you.Your body whispers before it screams.Listen closely.

#132 Strong Women Still Have Heart Attacks

Send us Fan MailYou can lift heavy. You can eat clean. You can run businesses, households, and entire teams — and still be at risk for heart disease. In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I dives into a hard but necessary truth: strength does not equal immunity. As a heart attack survivor, I unpack the hidden risks facing high-functioning women — from chronic stress and nervous system overload to silent inflammation and blood sugar instability. This conversation builds on last week’s HRV episode and explores what’s happening beneath the surface when your body looks strong but your system is under strain.I breaks down:• Why lean, active women can still carry cardiovascular risk• The impact of cortisol and chronic stress on arteries• How overtraining and under-recovering affect heart health• Tactical steps to protect your heart without burning outIf you consider yourself driven, resilient, and capable — this episode is especially for you.Your body whispers before it screams.Listen in, share with a strong woman in your life, and let’s protect our hearts — physically and emotionally. As promised below is the episode where we learn about nasal breathwork.***Episode 93 How To Use Breathwork To Reclaim Your Energy w/Guest Tim Thomas

    #131 Your Heart Isn’t Broken—It’s Burned Out

Send us Fan Mail💖 We are officially in February, heart month, birthday season for me 🎉, and somehow Southern California forgot it’s supposed to be cold… but I’ll allow it (for now). This episode is a mix of real life updates, heart health truth bombs, and some very doable tools you can actually use—no perfection required 🙌I’m officially four years post–heart attack and wow… typing that still hits. I’m beyond grateful to still be here, still spreading this message, still riding this messy wave 🌊 Another trip around the sun is coming up and I’m soaking in every bit of gratitude. Life is wild, fragile, and beautiful all at once.Since it’s heart month ❤️, we’re going deeper—starting a likely two-part series—into something most people aren’t talking about enough: HRV (heart rate variability) and how it reflects your nervous system. This is especially important for women, because yes… heart disease is still the number one killer of women, and chronic stress is wrecking our recovery. Here’s the truth bomb: if your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight, your heart can’t recover properly. Low HRV means your body is stuck in stress mode, energy debt, poor sleep, slow recovery, mood swings, blood sugar chaos, inflammation… sound familiar? 😬 Been there. Lived it.I break down why you can’t “out-sleep” a broken recovery system 😴 Why waking up tired, sore, foggy, and wired isn’t laziness—it’s your nervous system begging for help. And why working out harder isn’t the answer when your HRV is low (trust me, I learned this the hard way). The good news? 🎉 HRV is trainable. You are NOT stuck. And no, this doesn’t require fancy supplements or extreme routines.I walk you through three simple, powerful resets you can start immediately: ☀️ Morning sunlight within 30 minutes of waking (no sunglasses, no phone) 💧 Proper hydration with electrolytes or warm liquids (bone broth lovers, you’re winning) 🚫 Removing ONE hidden HRV drain—late-night screens, food, alcohol, or overstimulating conversationsThis episode is about listening to your body, reducing pressure, and giving your heart and nervous system the tools they need to heal and thrive 💓 If all you take away is permission to be gentler with yourself and still make progress… that’s a win.Try one thing. Let me know what you’re working on. DM me, message me, find me at @everythingsmessywellness—I want to hear from you 💬Remember, messy warriors: perfection burns us out, but grace keeps us going ✨*****As promised the episode mentioned with Dr. Huberman: Episode 112, "How to Breathe Correctly for Optimal Health, Mood, Learning & Performance"*******

#130 Heart Disease in Women: The Shocking Truth Every Woman Needs to Hear

Send us Fan MailHey my messy warriors 💖🫀On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast : February is Heart Month, and this one is close to my heart—literally. Six days before I turned 43, I had a heart attack, and while I’ve shared pieces of my story before, this episode isn’t about the origin story. It’s about the data. The raw, uncomfortable, mind-blowing facts about why heart disease is quietly devastating women—and why so many of us have no idea it’s happening.Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in the United States, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined. Let that sink in. Nearly 45% of women over the age of 20 are living with some form of cardiovascular disease—many without symptoms, many without knowing. Yet less than half of women even recognize heart disease as their biggest health threat. That disconnect is dangerous, and it’s why I felt called to scream this from the rooftops. This episode dives into why heart attacks are rising in women ages 35–54, why we often don’t present with “classic” symptoms, and why so many of us are told it’s just anxiety when our bodies are actually waving red flags 🚩. I share how hormones, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, autoimmune disease, thyroid dysfunction, stress, and nervous system dysregulation all collide—making heart disease in women incredibly complex and wildly under-discussed.We talk estrogen, perimenopause, cortisol overload, mom guilt, caregiver stress, trauma, and why even “healthy,” active women can still be at risk. I also open up about my own experience—how my symptoms didn’t look like a heart attack at all, how my EKG shocked everyone, and how close I came without even realizing it.Most importantly, this episode is about advocacy without shame. Heart disease is not a moral failure. It’s not because you “didn’t try hard enough.” Many of these risk factors are outside our control, and blaming ourselves only adds more stress to an already overloaded system. This is your permission slip to ask for the heart tests, to push for answers, to slow down, to take care of yourself without guilt, and to stop putting yourself last 💗.If this episode gets even one woman to book a heart assessment, ask better questions, or listen more closely to her body, then I’ve done my job. And if you’re sitting there thinking, “Whoa… this sounds like me,” please know—you’re not alone. Let’s talk. Let’s support each other. Let’s get loud about women’s heart health.

#127 Glutathione Explained: The Body’s Most Powerful Antioxidant & Why You Might Be Low

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast , I have to give the biggest shout-out to my listeners in Australia and New Zealand. When I looked back at my stats from last year, once again you all showed up in a big way, and it honestly blows my mind that this little podcast reaches across the world. I’m so grateful you’re here, and if any of you “down under” have a messy wellness story you want to share, I would absolutely love to hear from you and maybe even have you on the show someday. So today we’re talking about glutathione — what it really is, why it matters, and why it keeps coming up in health conversations. First things first, glutathione is not a vitamin. It’s an antioxidant, and it’s considered the most important intracellular antioxidant in the body. It’s made from three amino acids — cysteine, glycine, and glutamate — and your body actually produces it inside your cells. Think of it as your body’s internal clean-up crew 🧹 It helps neutralize free radicals, supports detox pathways, helps regulate the immune system, supports mitochondrial health (which means energy production), and even helps recycle other antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E.So when people talk about toxins, inflammation, immune stress, or chronic illness, glutathione is always part of that conversation because it plays such a big role in protecting our cells. Now here’s where some of the confusion and controversy comes in. Certain medications, including acetaminophen (Tylenol), are known to temporarily lower glutathione levels. What some researchers and clinicians are pointing out is that if glutathione is already low — and then the body is exposed to something foreign — the clean-up crew may not be operating at full strength. That doesn’t mean anything “causes” autism. It does not. But it does help explain why people are talking about vulnerability, detox capacity, and immune response — especially in bodies that are already under more oxidative stress. And that’s where autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation, metabolic issues, and neurodivergent nervous systems come into the conversation. These bodies are often already working harder just to maintain balance. So when glutathione is depleted and demand is high, things can stack up instead of being cleared efficiently.Modern life burns through antioxidants fast — stress, sugar, poor sleep, chronic illness, environmental toxins, busy schedules, and emotional overload all increase oxidative stress. Our bodies are constantly trying to pull us back into balance, and sometimes they’re just exhausted. That’s when symptoms start showing up. That’s when inflammation becomes chronic. That’s when we start seeing autoimmune issues, hormone problems, and nervous system dysregulation.Which is why I always come back to basics: nutrient-dense food, enough protein, stress management, movement, breathing, and sleep. It’s not glamorous. It’s not trendy. But it works. And even on a budget, there are ways to eat better — I mentioned Dr. Paul Saladino’s videos where he literally shops at Walmart and shows how to choose nutrient-dense foods affordably. At the end of the day, understanding glutathione isn’t about fear. It’s about knowing that our bodies have incredible systems designed to protect us — and sometimes they just need more support to do their job.Until next time, my friends — keep it messy 🤍✨

    #126 Find Your Why......

Send us Fan Mail  Hey my messy warriors—welcome back and hello 2026! ✨ I’m officially kicking off the new year fresh off a workout, riding that good-vibes, good-energy wave, and feeling ready to dive right in. I hope you soaked up the holidays, rested where you could, laughed where it mattered, and are easing into this new year without the pressure to be “on” or “perfect.” Because spoiler alert: we’re not doing perfection here—we’re doing truth. This episode is all about finding your why—not the Pinterest-perfect, January-1st, hustle-hard version, but the real, grounded, gut-level why that actually carries you through the hard days. I walk you through a simple, doable process (and yes, there’s a super easy PDF coming your way on my Linktree on  Instagram) to help you uncover what you truly want, why it matters to you, and how to connect it to your actual life—not some unrealistic fantasy routine. Think consistency over perfection, compassion over self-bullying, and progress that feels steady instead of exhausting. We talk about peeling back the layers—asking “why” again and again until you hit that moment where your throat tightens, your chest feels full, or your gut just knows. That’s your why. Not guilt. Not “I should.” Not what everyone else is doing. Just truth. And from there, we turn it into something grounding—something you can return to when motivation dips, stress hits, or quitting feels tempting. Because your why isn’t for the easy days…it’s for the messy ones.I also share my three (okay, four—because I make my own rules 😌) words for 2026: steady resilience, strong, and playful. This year isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about building strength with compassion, showing up consistently without beating myself up, and bringing play back into my life. Dancing in the kitchen, laughing more, moving my body in ways that feel good, and doing a few things simply because they bring joy—not because they’re productive. Fun doesn’t need permission, an outcome, or a checklist. 💃☀️This episode is a reminder that you’re not here to fix yourself—you’re here to come home to yourself. To become stronger, steadier, and more alive. That’s where the messy magic lives. ✨If this episode spoke to you, share it, tag me, scribble a note to yourself—just don’t keep it to yourself. You can find me on Instagram @EverythingsMessyWellness, over on YouTube, or at everythingsmessywellness.com for resources, coaching, and probably a fresh rant about blood sugar or hormones.Until next time—hydrate, take no crap, be kind to yourself… and as always, keep it messy. 💛If you are looking for a great organ supplement try Primal Queen! #123 Seasonal Eating Explained: How Food Supports Your Body Through Every Season

Send us Fan MailHey my messy warriors 🤍✨ welcome back to Everything’s Messy Podcast—because, let’s be honest, life is messy and so are we. This is Episode 123, dropping right in the heart of the Christmas season 🎄 and I am fully leaning into the twinkle lights, the nostalgia, the cozy vibes, and yes… my slightly naughty Santa shirt 😏🎅. This time of year just hits different. Whether your kids are little or grown, the magic is still there if you slow down enough to see it. And for me? Nothing sparks joy quite like driving around looking at Christmas lights ✨✨✨.Today’s episode gets deliciously messy as I dive into seasonal eating and how each season supports different systems in the body. I share why I’m incredibly intentional about what I recommend in the wellness space (integrity over trends—always 🙌), why Primal Queen is the one affiliate I stand behind, and why I’ll shout from the rooftops about products I actually use and trust. No fluff. No bandwagon hopping. Just real talk. From there, we settle into the deeper conversation—how our bodies were designed to live in rhythm with the seasons 🌱☀️🍂❄️. I walk you through each season, what it supports in the body, and why eating with the seasons isn’t about restriction—it’s about nourishment, balance, and working with your body instead of fighting it. We talk liver support in the spring, hydration and heart health in the summer, grounding digestion in late summer, lung and gut support in fall, and deep restoration and kidney nourishment in winter. Yes, soups and bone broth get their moment 🥣💛 because winter is about rest, storage, and recovery—not hustle.I also get a little spicy 🌶️ and clear up some wellness myths (because you know I can’t help myself). If you’ve ever heard me challenge popular detox language or question trends that don’t align with actual physiology, this episode is very on brand. Always curious. Always questioning. Always rooted in faith, science, and common sense. Most of all, this episode is an invitation. An invitation to slow down. To rest. To try just one seasonal shift and see how your body responds. To trust that we were created with wisdom built in—and that sometimes the most radical thing we can do is listen 💫.As we head into Christmas and the New Year, I just want to say how deeply grateful I am for you. This messy community means everything to me 🫶. I’ll be popping in with short episodes for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, then we’ll roll into 2026 with more guests, more conversations, more truth, and more strength found right in the middle of the mess.Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy New Year 🎉 and thank you for being here, messy warrior. #122 Inflammation, Oxidative Stress & Peptides: You’re Not Broken, You’re Responding And Tools To Support

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of "Everything's Messy Podcast", I’m getting real about something I live with every single day: chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and how peptide therapy might fit into the healing journey. We’re in the middle of the Christmas season, schedules are packed, stress is high, and our bodies are quietly trying to wave the red flag… so let’s talk about it.I break down inflammation in simple, real-life terms: inflammation is the fire, the signal that something is off in the body. Then I layer in oxidative stress as the gasoline – the internal “rust” that happens when we’re overloaded with toxins, stress, blood sugar swings, poor sleep, and all the things we like to pretend aren’t a big deal. Acute inflammation can be helpful. Chronic inflammation? That’s the sneaky, exhausting kind that quietly fuels heart disease, autoimmune conditions, hormone chaos, blood sugar instability, weight resistance, fatigue, and brain fog. Check, check, check… I’m right there with you. 🙋‍♀️I share honestly about my own journey as a type 1 diabetic, heart attack survivor, and professional data-nerd of my own body. My labs have said “normal” while my body was screaming absolutely not. I talk about the frustration of “doing everything right” and still feeling inflamed, exhausted, and stuck—and that emotional moment of admitting how terrified I am of having another heart attack. This isn’t a polished wellness highlight reel. This is the messy middle. Then we add the third layer: peptide therapy—and no, I’m not talking about GLP-1s. I explain what peptides actually are (short-chain amino acids that act like targeted messengers) and how they can help support repair and regulation after we’ve started addressing lifestyle. I touch on options like BPC-157 for gut repair and systemic inflammation, Thymosin Alpha-1 and Thymosin Beta-4 for immune modulation and tissue healing, and MOTS-C as a mitochondrial and longevity-supporting peptide I’ll personally be experimenting with. I’m very clear: peptides are tools, not shortcuts. They don’t replace movement, real food, sleep, or inner work—and they should always be used with guidance, labs, and supervision. More is not better.Throughout the episode, I keep coming back to this truth: we are not broken. Inflammation and oxidative stress are not failures of your body—they are responses to the information you’ve been giving it. Your symptoms are not random, and you’re not crazy just because your CBC came back “normal.” Your body is talking to you through sore joints, stubborn fatigue, gut issues, mood swings, sleep struggles, and fear. Our work is to listen, remove the assaults, and support the systems that are trying so hard to keep us alive.I wrap things up with some messy, doable action steps you can take right now—especially in this busy holiday season where none of us want another “perfect protocol” to fail: choose one better meal, one earlier bedtime, or one day of nervous system reset. That’s it. One tiny bite of the rhinoceros at a time. 🦏If you’re in the thick of it, feeling frustrated, inflamed, and exhausted but still hopeful, this episode is for you. You are not alone, you’re not broken, and we are going to keep finding strength through the mess—together. 💛

#121🔥 The Hormone Lie: Why Women Aren’t Broken & Why the Black Box Removal Matters 🔥**

Send us Fan Mail FIND THE PRIMAL QUEEN LINK AT THE BOTTOM: Hey, messy people!  This  episode is sort of a "Part 2" of episode # 117 but also to share some of my journey with hormones.  I was apprehensive  to hit record — not because I’m afraid of pushback, but because this topic matters. And because too many women are being lied to, misled, marketed to, or flat-out ignored when it comes to hormones. And I’m done watching it happen quietly. So today, I’m stepping fully into the mess and speaking from a place of experience, frustration, science, faith, and fierce love for women everywhere. This is one of the most passionate, controversial, and important conversations I’ve brought to this podcast.💥 The FDA quietly removed the black box warning on estrogen/HRT… without ANY new clinical trials. Not one. Nothing fresh. Just a “reinterpretation” of old studies and a quiet shuffle of risks from Black Box to Side Effects. They didn’t remove what it causes. They just removed where it sits on the paper. And women deserve to know that.💥 The estrogen narrative is broken — but women are not.We are not estrogen deficient. We are estrogen overloaded — from beauty products, cookware, food, candles, lotions, supplements, environmental toxins, and even the Thanksgiving turkey that ate flax its whole life. Our bodies were designed perfectly by a Creator who knew exactly what we needed. We became imbalanced because of what we’ve added in… not because we’re defective. And I refuse to let us forget: We. Are. Not. Broken. This is not an episode about fear. This is an episode about empowerment. It’s about:taking back your healthknowing the real root of hormone imbalanceunderstanding the difference between deficiency and overloadand breaking free from the narrative that women need fixingIt’s about reclaiming what our grandmothers instinctively knew — before the modern world buried it under fragrance, flax, lotions, and “wellness” marketing. And honey… once you hear this, you can’t unhear it.✨ If You’re Ready to Go Estrogen-FreeI walk this journey personally. I coach it professionally. I breathe it passionately. If you want to work with me on hormone balance, lifestyle shifts, or reducing your estrogen load the right way — I’m here.👉 everythingmessywellness.com 👉 Or message me on Instagram @EverythingsMessyWellnessBe ready for the first big question I always ask: “Are you willing to let go of what’s making you sick?”Candles, lotions, pans, foods, habits — we do it together. At your pace. With real education and real support.Let’s get messy. #118 Rewiring Binge Eating with Brain Tools (ft. Amber Abila) 🍓🧠✨

Send us Fan Mail On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast  I’m joined by  Amber Abila, a binge-eating coach who helps women stop bingeing and overeating by rewiring the brain—not by more willpower, more shame, or another “perfect” diet. We get into why your brain isn’t broken, how ultra-flavored foods confuse your natural hunger cues, and what it really takes to feel “normal” (whatever that means 😉) and in control around food again. In this conversation, we unpack my favorite kind of messy: the kind that becomes clarity. Amber shares her own story—from calorie tracking to holiday-cookie spirals to purging—and how understanding habits, urges, and flavor vs. nutrition changed everything. We talk gentle self-talk, the “inner toddler,” and why urges are harmless, powerless, and meaningless when you learn to sit with them. There’s no moralizing here—just real talk, science, and actionable tools you can use today. 🧡What we cover 💬How dieting triggers survival-mode cravings and why that’s actually your brain doing its job ✅ Why “natural flavors” + isolated sugar can trick taste buds and hijack nutrition signals 🍭 The two-part approach to stop bingeing: stop true restriction and rewire the habit loop 🔁 How to ride out urges (without white-knuckling) and tell yourself the whole story 🧘‍♀️ Self-compassion that actually boosts consistency—treat yourself like your BFF, not a bully 💌My messy takeaways 📝I loved Amber’s reframe that bingeing isn’t “pleasure”—it’s a habit that only creates pain, and our brains can learn safety again. The “toddler” analogy hit home for me: when that inner voice is screaming for Ben & Jerry’s at 4 a.m., I can still choose to pause, breathe, and parent myself gently. Also… urges do pass. Every time I sit with one, I’m voting for the version of me who’s calm, nourished, and in charge. That’s the messy magic. 🌈Try this today 🔧Notice an urge → name it → sit with it for a few minutes. Remind yourself: harmless, powerless, meaningless. Then feed yourself something real and simple if you’re actually hungry—think fruit + protein or a satisfying meal. Little votes, big results. 💪Free resource + work with Amber 🎁Amber mentioned her guided “stop a binge” audio (linked in show notes) and her Confident Eater 1:1 program for deeper support. #117 The Boobie Expert Exposes the Estrogen Epidemic — with Dr. Wendy Sellens Bronson

Send us Fan Mail Buckle up, messy fam — this one’s spicy! 🔥 In one of the most eye-opening conversations yet, I sit down with Dr. Wendy Sellens Bronson, known online as @estrogenfree, a clinical researcher and doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine who’s dedicated her life to studying breast health and the estrogen epidemic affecting women (and now men!).Trained by the late Dr. William Bell Hobbins, pioneer of thermography, Wendy breaks down how estrogen dominance is being fueled by xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens hiding in our food, products, and supplements — and why we’ve been completely misled about what “balanced hormones” really mean. She dives into shocking facts — like how just ¼ cup of flax equals 30 birth control pills 😳 — and explains how this overload of estrogen is contributing to PCOS, infertility, and even the rise of breast tissue in men.Her message? We’re not broken — we’re under attack. 💥 Wendy urges women to get back to the basics: live like grandma did. That means sunshine, movement, organ meats, ditching the sunglasses, prioritizing sleep, and saying goodbye to synthetic estrogen in all its sneaky forms. We cover:The truth about “estrogen-free” livingThe shocking effects of soy, flax, and other estrogenic foodsWhy holistic wellness influencers might be getting it wrongWendy’s research has gotten her shadow-banned, kicked off TikTok, and attacked by “holistic” circles — but her science and results speak for themselves. #116 Sunglasses, Sunlight, and the Controversy You Didn’t See Coming

Send us Fan MailOn this episode of Everything's Messy Podcast,  👋 It’s been a minute since it’s just been me on the mic, and wow… I’ve got a spicy, controversial topic for you today. Before we get into it, though, I’ve got some incredible guests lined up—including the amazing Dr. Wendy Sellens (aka @estrogenfree  🩷). We’re going to dive into all things breast health, women’s health, and phytoestrogens soon—but today? We’re talking sunglasses.Yep. Sunglasses. For decades, we’ve been told to grab our sunnies before stepping outside, but more and more experts are challenging that idea. I’m breaking down the growing conversation around what happens when we block our eyes from natural sunlight—and how that might be throwing off everything from our circadian rhythm to melanin production, hormone signaling, and even vitamin D synthesis.☀️ Here’s what I get into:Why morning and evening sunlight is key for your body’s natural rhythm. How sunglasses can confuse your mitochondria and hormone signaling. What wellness voices like Dr. Paul Saladino, Gary Brecka, and Jack Kruse are saying. My personal experience with floaters and how castor oil unexpectedly helped. Why “fashion vs. function” might be a conversation worth having.A few practical takeaways on when it actually makes sense to wear shades.I know this one might ruffle a few feathers 😎 but messy conversations are my favorite kind. We can’t grow if we only talk about what’s comfortable.🌿 My takeaway: Our bodies are incredible. They were designed to work with the sun—not against it. I’m not saying toss out your Ray-Bans forever, but maybe… let that morning light in.💬 Let’s chat: Do you wear sunglasses every day? Have you noticed how natural light affects your mood or energy? And bonus question—should we keep doing time changes or ditch them altogether? Drop me a comment or DM me your thoughts!🎧 Thanks for tuning in to Everything’s Messy Podcast. Remember: it’s not about perfect—it’s about staying curious, getting a little messy, and taking better care of ourselves along the way.

#115 Enduring the Mess: Healing Generational Trauma with Ina Segal

Send us Fan MailIn this powerful episode, of Everything's Messy Podcast, I  sit down with bestselling author and transformational guide Ina Segal (The Secret Language of Your Body) to unpack how unprocessed emotions—and even generational trauma—can manifest as very real physical symptoms. Ina shares her story of immigrating from Eastern Europe, growing up with constant anxiety, back pain, psoriasis, and severe digestive issues, and the devastating loss of a child that became a turning point. Through one raw, honest night of “listening” to her body, breath by breath, she began to decode its language, ask for God’s help, and unwind pain connected to family history, wartime survival, money stress, and buried grief. Together, Sarah and Ina explore why the nervous system must be stabilized before deep trauma work, how compassion beats force every time, and why shifting from victimhood to courageous curiosity can change everything. You’ll also hear moving stories of Ina’s grandparents—a reminder of the Greatest/Silent Generation’s resilience—and a stunning moment when visualization helped her grandfather reclaim lightness and connection after years of decline. #114 From Lyme to Limitless: Anthony Guastella on Mindset, Healing & True Wellness

Send us Fan Mail On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast 🎧  I’m joined by certified health coach Anthony Guastella, and wow—his story is the definition of grit. Diagnosed with Lyme at 16, Anthony chose victor over victim and spent six years rebuilding his health from the inside out. We dig into the real foundations of wellness—mastering your mind first, then dialing in the “boring but magic” basics: real food, sunlight, movement, stress reduction, and sleep you fiercely protect. Anthony breaks down why Lyme can lie dormant for years, how nervous-system health is everything, and why tools like hyperbaric oxygen, smart fasting (hello, autophagy!), and 80/20 living can change your life. We talk epigenetics (yes, your daily choices matter), hormetic stressors that make you tougher, and choosing your hard so you can claim your freedom. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your mess, consider this your permission slip with purpose: show up, shiv-it (shift + pivot 😉), and keep going. You’ll hear: how to build belief when the outside world says “you can’t,” the sleep routines that actually stick, personalized nutrition without the dogma, energy “boosters” you can stack through your day, and why growth + service = purpose. Plus, a pep talk on legacy, leadership, and refusing to outsource your health.Connect with Anthony:Anthony Guastella's WebsiteIf this episode gave you a spark, I’d love a quick rating or review! 💖 Come hang out on Instagram @EverythingsMessyWellness and grab resources at everythingsmessywellness.com. Let’s keep finding strength through the mess—together. ✨

#111 Can AI Really Transform Your Health? My Honest Take

Send us Fan Mail On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast we’re diving into a topic that feels a little bit crazy, but one I keep seeing everywhere: how AI might change the medical and wellness world. I’m not here to argue whether it’s good or bad, or whether we should all embrace it—I just want to explore what it looks like, share my experience, and start a conversation.AI is here, and whether we like it or not, people are curious about it. Recently, I tested it out with my own lab work, and honestly, the results floored me. I’ve been getting labs done every three months since I was fifteen, but this was the most detailed interpretation I’ve ever received. It broke down every thyroid marker, explained what each meant, and even suggested which supplements might be supportive, with specifics on amounts and timing. That’s not something I’ve ever gotten from my doctor, and while I trust and value my endocrinologist, this was information I could actually use in my day-to-day life.It made me think about the gap between what conventional medicine gives us and what we sometimes need to really feel well. Doctors are incredible, but often they don’t have the time to talk about supplements, nutrition, or lifestyle shifts. AI didn’t replace my doctor’s expertise—it aligned with much of what he already told me—but it also added details that gave me new clarity and direction. For someone like me, who wants to be an informed patient and advocate for my own health, that felt empowering.Of course, I’m cautious. I don’t want AI to replace human thinking, and I don’t want to rely on it blindly. But as a tool, as a way to gather information and ask better questions, I see its potential. It reminded me that being informed changes the way we approach our health. We shouldn’t throw our hands up and let someone else have all the control over our bodies. We’re the experts in ourselves. Doctors know the system, but we live in our bodies, and we have to bridge those two perspectives if we want real healing. So today’s conversation isn’t about robots taking over the world or AI replacing doctors—it’s about how technology might give us more insight, more tools, and more confidence as we navigate our health journeys. It’s about self-advocacy and self-education. I encourage you to keep asking questions, keep learning, and never surrender your own power when it comes to your body. Thanks for hanging out with me today on Everything’s Messy Podcast. #110 Life Is Precious: Healing Beyond Hate and Labels

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, this week feels a little different. It’s been an emotional one, both in the world and in my own life, and I want to take a moment to talk about something that’s been weighing heavy on my heart.I shared some thoughts about the tragic events surrounding Charlie Kirk. No matter what we believe or where we stand, life is precious—every single one of them—and violence or celebrating someone’s suffering is never the answer. I’ve always lived by “agree to disagree,” and I want my kids to grow up in a world where they can speak their minds without fear. Disagreements don’t have to turn into hate, and healing can’t happen if we’re operating from that place. This ties back to what I always say about wellness—it isn’t just about our bodies. Healing our minds and our spirit means approaching life from a place of love. You can’t hate your way into healing. Whether it’s the way we see our bodies, the narratives we tell ourselves, or how we approach spirituality, love and respect must be at the center.I also dive into the topic of labels. In today’s world, we’re quick to label ourselves—by diet, by illness, by diagnosis, by quirks—and while labels can help us understand and advocate for ourselves, they can also put us in boxes and define us in limiting ways. I talk about the importance of looking at the whole person, remembering that you are so much more than any label. I’ve lived with labels like Type 1 Diabetes and heart attack survivor, but those don’t define me—they’re just pieces of my story. As I reflect on all of this, my message is simple: life is fleeting, life is messy, and life is precious. Let’s value it, respect each other, and keep working toward healing in body, mind, and spirit. Thank you for being here with me on this journey—I appreciate you more than you know. And don’t forget, my brand-new podcast Truth & Pink drops next Tuesday! I hope you’ll check it out and join me for that adventure too.Until then, let’s keep finding strength in the mess and remember—we’re all more than just one thing. 💖Connect with Everything’s Messy:Website: https://www.everythingsmessywellness.com/ X - https://x.com/everythingsmes/status/1767942253899817017?s=46Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/everythingsmessypodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/everythingsmessywellness/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@everythingsmessyEmail: :[email protected]: https://www.youtube.com/@everythingsmessy

#109 Bestie in the ICU: Self-Advocacy, “Cougar Puberty,” and a Big Announcement

Send us Fan Mail On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast I am joined by bestie of, gulp, 3 decades Channa Duboff. We’ve zigged and zagged through life with different worldviews and still meet in the middle with a friendship that’s strong, honest, and hilariously messy. 🥰Channa, mom, wife, and an ICU nurse who’s currently heading back to school to become a nurse practitioner. We dig into what the medical field has taught her beyond textbooks—how every body is different, why good foundations matter, and what it looks like to advocate for patients in a system that often prefers tidy boxes over real-life nuance. From there, we dive into lifestyle medicine—mind and body. Stress management comes first (or at least early!), and sometimes it’s as simple as stepping into a stairwell for ten slow breaths. We chat about social media pressure, giving ourselves grace, and choosing progress over perfection. Then we get practical: why steady-state cardio + strength training can coexist, how body-weight moves count, why bone density matters as we age, and why “I don’t want to look like a bodybuilder” isn’t a reason to skip the weights. 🏋️‍♀️🚶‍♀️We get spicy about “cougar puberty” (hi, perimenopause 👋), and laugh our way through real talk on hot yoga, breathwork, red-light therapy, acupuncture wins, and why inflammation + gut imbalance sit at the root of so much chronic illness. Lifestyle changes aren’t punishment—they’re freedom. And now… the exciting announcement you’ve been waiting for! 🎉I’m launching a brand-new show with Channa: Truth & Pink—for the women no one’s talking about. We’re Gen X/Xennial, still cool, still loud, still here, and very much not fading into the background. Expect unfiltered chats on midlife, family, fashion, beauty, wellness (hello, “emotional support water bottle”), money talk, and “cougar puberty”—with sass and sisterhood. Pink isn’t just a color—it’s a state of mind. 💗Join our live premiere on YouTube on September 23 (from Las Vegas!) and catch new episodes every Tuesday wherever you listen. # 108 Mold Illness, Detox & Wellness Travel

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I sat down with  Zoa Conner, a wellbeing and lifestyle alchemist, travel strategist, and—get this—she also holds a PhD in physics! I loved how she weaves together science, movement, wellness, and even travel to create a truly unique perspective on health and healing.Zoa shared her story of starting as a ballet dancer, moving into science and physics, and eventually returning to movement through yoga and Pilates after becoming a mom. Her journey deepened even more when her daughter faced chronic illness from mold exposure and a serious ankle injury. Instead of settling for conventional medicine’s “wait and see” approach, Zoa tapped into her problem-solving skills as a physicist and her fierce mama bear instincts to seek out holistic solutions. Her insights into how the body connects—like how an ankle boot can affect hips, shoulders, and even sleep—were so eye-opening.We also dove deep into mold illness, detoxing, and why preparing the body’s systems in the right order is so crucial before attempting detox. Zoa broke down complex ideas like MCAS and autoimmunity in a way that makes total sense, and I especially loved how she explained the immune system as an army with special ops—it was such a clear and empowering visual!Another fascinating part of our conversation was Zoa’s work in travel as a functional part of wellness. Instead of treating vacations like stressful events, she helps people use travel intentionally as a way to reset routines, experience new environments, and actually support health. We talked about everything from choosing destinations that balance your lifestyle needs to making travel feel restorative instead of draining. Her upcoming retreat in Iceland sounded magical—designed not for jam-packed sightseeing, but for true restoration and connection with the environment.Zoa  has a fun quiz that helps you discover your personal “travel goddess profile,” giving tailored tips on how to make travel more supportive for your wellness. You can find it at intentional-vitality.com/quiz, and also learn more about her work at zenandvitality.com.This conversation really highlighted how science, intuition, and lifestyle all merge together when it comes to health. Zoa’s perspective reminded me that healing and wellness aren’t one-size-fits-all—they’re about finding the connections others might miss and creating solutions that work for your unique body and life.Connect with Zoa:https://intentional-vitality.com/quiz?utm_source=chatgpt.comhttps://zenandvitality.com?utm_source=chatgpt.comConnect with Everything’s Messy:Website: https://www.everythingsmessywellness.com/ X - https://x.com/everythingsmes/status/1767942253899817017?s=46Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/everythingsmessypodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/everythingsmessywellness/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@everythingsmessyEmail: :[email protected]: https://www.youtube.com/@everythingsm

    # 107 "Happy 2 Years of Messy Magic: Finding Strength Through Life’s Storms"

Send us Fan MailHey messy people! 💕 Can you believe it?! This episode marks TWO YEARS of Everything’s Messy Podcast! 🎉 I’m honestly blown away that we’re heading into Season 3. Today’s episode is my love letter to Season 2 — tying it up with a big messy bow 🎀, giving it a kiss and a hug 💋, and looking ahead to what’s coming next. When I started this show, it was just me, my heart attack recovery, and a whole lot of feelings about how lost I felt in the medical system. 😔 I needed a space to vent and wondered if anyone else out there felt the same. Spoiler alert: YOU DID. 💖 From there, this podcast evolved into a safe, authentic place for deep conversations about life’s mess — health struggles, mom guilt, autoimmune diagnoses, heartache, and the beautiful magic that can come out of all that chaos.Over the last two years, I’ve shared my own messy journey (hello gym meltdowns 🙋‍♀️), incredible guest stories, and lots of solo chats on everything from wellness trends to self-advocacy. We’ve laughed, cried, and connected in ways I never imagined when I hit record for the first time. And through it all, one thing has become crystal clear: mess is universal. 🌎 What matters is what we choose to do with it.In this episode, I reflect on:How this podcast started as my personal journal and became a community of connection 💬The power of being authentically messy and how sharing struggles leads to transformation ✨Some of my favorite guest moments — from Dr. Diana Driscoll’s insights on POTS, to Linda Torgensen helping women over 50 reclaim health, to heart-melting stories like a little boy’s wagon of hope ❤️Why I’m obsessed (in the best way!) with helping you advocate for yourself and your health 🩺What’s coming in Season 3 — more inspiring guests, deeper convos, and a HUGE announcement this fall 👀My hope? That even one listener out there felt seen and heard, and maybe even empowered to take messy action in their own life. If you’ve been riding this messy wave with me since day one or you just found the show — THANK YOU. 🫶 You’re why I do this. Here’s to Season 3, more messy magic, and finding your strength through life’s storms. 🌪️💪 As always, grab your water (and electrolytes 😉), hit play, and let’s keep these real conversations going.Love you all so much — thank you for an unforgettable two years. On to the next adventure! 🥂

#106 Health Trends 2025 Nobody Asked For (But We’re Talking About Anyway)

Send us Fan Mail Hey friends—welcome back to Everything’s Messy Podcast! 🎧 Can you believe we’re almost at the two-year anniversary of this little messy adventure? Season 3 is right around the corner, but before we get there, I wanted to take some time to chat solo with you about a few things that are trending in the health and wellness world. Some of them I’m totally on board with, others… well, let’s just say I’ve got opinions. 😉First up—posture as a beauty trend. Yep, apparently standing up straight is the new facelift. I get it—I grew up in pageants (mock me all you want, I can handle it!) where posture was everything, so I’m all for people standing tall and aligned. But when it turns into another excuse for TikTok gadgets and billion-dollar beauty standards? Ehh, let’s breathe (literally!) and be careful not to corset ourselves back into the dark ages. Then we dive into “quadrobics” (yes, I finally managed to say it right 😅)—basically moving around like animals on all fours. Think crab walks, bear crawls, gorilla walks. It’s playful, it’s trending, and while I’m all for movement in any form, I also want us to be careful with mobility versus flexibility, stretching safely, and not injuring ourselves in the name of looking cool crawling across the gym floor.Of course, I couldn’t resist a good rant on self-discipline and promises we keep to ourselves. Showing up for your health has to become non-negotiable—like picking up your kids from school. You don’t skip it, you just do it. And every time you keep that promise to yourself, your body learns to trust you more, and that momentum builds.Oh, and don’t even get me started on “med-cations.” Yep, medical vacations are apparently the new luxury trend—think genome sequencing and biohacking retreats instead of margaritas on the beach. Personally? Hard pass. Chronic illness doesn’t take vacations, and I’d rather spend my travel time soaking in culture, connection, and joy—not obsessing over more wellness industry gimmicks.I wrap things up with some heart-to-heart thoughts about heritage, traditions, and storytelling. Maybe all of this wellness obsession is a sign that what we’re really craving is connection—tribal, ancestral, cultural connection. I don’t want us to lose the stories of where we came from or the joy of living life itself in the chase for the next shiny health trend. So that’s where I land: let’s ask the hard questions, be curious, move our bodies, and take care of ourselves—but let’s not forget to live. Health should enhance life, not consume it. 💖Thanks for hanging out with me for this ranty little solo episode! We’re almost at two years, and I’m so grateful you’re here—mock me, laugh with me, roll your eyes at me—but hopefully learn a little along the way. #105 POTS Care Uncovered: Dr. Diana Driscoll’s Life-Changing Research

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Diana Driscoll, an optometrist, independent researcher, and founder of Genetic Disease Investigators and POTS Care. Dr. Driscoll shares her personal journey of being sick for over a decade by POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) alongside her son—and how the search for answers led her to uncover groundbreaking connections between inflammation, neurotransmitters, vascular health, and chronic illness. We discuss why POTS is so often misunderstood, and how simply treating the fast heart rate misses the true root cause. Dr. Driscoll dives deep into how chronic inflammation can be triggered by infections, stress, trauma, or surgery, and how it wreaks havoc on the parasympathetic nervous system, digestion, cognition, and even vision. She explains her research into neurotransmitter blockages, high intracranial pressure, and vascular inflammation, revealing why conditions like Hashimoto’s and other autoimmune diseases can set the stage for more severe illness. You’ll hear how her patented supplement, Parasym Plus, was developed to restore vagus nerve function, improve digestion, and support recovery—and why existing medications, supplements, and lifestyle changes can make a massive difference when used strategically. We also talk about food sensitivities, histamine reactions, the role of oxidative stress, and why so many inflammatory patients are misdiagnosed with anxiety or psychiatric conditions. This conversation is packed with insights on:Why “POTS” is an incomplete and misleading diagnosisThe surprising connection between eye health and vascular inflammationHow to evaluate and treat high intracranial pressureThe critical importance of checking for clotting in POTS patientsFood triggers, gut health, and histamine management in inflammatory conditionsWhy nutrient absorption problems are often overlooked—and how fixing them can be life-changingDr. Driscoll’s story is one of relentless curiosity, deep compassion, and a refusal to accept “there’s nothing we can do” as an answer. What followed wasn’t just a loss of sight, but a life-altering lesson in identity, resilience, and acceptance. We talk about everything—from teenage years filled with fear and depression, to learning braille while her friends learned to drive, to embracing her independence with the help of a guide dog (spoiler alert: two, actually 🐾). Send us Fan Mail Hey hey, messy crew! On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast  we are diving into something a little different but incredibly important—joint health, bone strength, and what mobility REALLY means—with the incredible Jeff Bailey, author of Mobility for Life and founder of Avita Yoga. 🙌We kicked things off with the idea of micro-mess vs. macro-mess (um, genius, right?), and from there, we journeyed through Jeff’s powerful story of overcoming injuries, chronic pain, and a ski crash that would’ve sent most people straight into full-time couch potato mode. 🛋️❌ Not Jeff!Instead, he leaned into healing through fascial release, yoga, and an understanding of how our joints actually work (hint: it’s not about stretching those poor hip flexors until they scream). 💥We talk about:Why your joints need pressure to heal and grow stronger 🦴How Avita Yoga differs from your average bendy, twisty yoga class (no pretzel poses required)The truth behind arthritis (spoiler: it’s often just toxicity trapped in the joint)Why mobility > flexibility—and why your nervous system needs a seat at the table too 🧠How Jeff’s slow, deep, therapeutic approach is changing lives—men and women alikeThe power of just starting where you’re at, mess and allWhether you're recovering from injury, struggling with stiffness, or just wondering why you can’t twist into a warrior pose like the beach yoga influencers—this one is for you. #102 Nervous System Reset in 2 Minutes: Cold Plunge Benefits with Kris Rice

Send us Fan Mail Hey everyone! Welcome back to Everything's Messy Podcast! Today’s episode is as refreshing as a cold plunge—literally. I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Kris Rice, founder and CEO of ChillPod, to chat about how a simple, two-minute daily ritual can reset your entire nervous system. But that’s not where it started.Kris’s story begins in full-on mama bear mode, searching for ways to help her daughter navigate mental health challenges. Along the way, she realized her own stress and anxiety were running the show. Like many of us, she tried all the wellness tools—meditation, yoga, breathwork—but let’s be real: who has hours a day for that when life is chaotic? Then came the cold plunge. (And yes, it started with a horse trough in the backyard because that’s how resourceful women roll. Gen Xers unite!) 🐎❄️ From hose water to a full-blown business, Kris’s journey into the cold plunge world is deeply inspiring, full of experimentation, discomfort, and ultimately—empowerment. We dig into how cold exposure works with your nervous system, especially for women, and how even two minutes can be enough to shift everything. You’ll hear us talk about discipline, self-awareness, shiviting (yep—shift + pivot!), and giving ourselves permission to say: “This is enough.”Kris also breaks down how to start small (like literally a bowl of ice water small), and how customizing your experience is key—temperature, time, and YOUR comfort zone matter. Plus, we tackle that controversial topic of whether women should even be cold plunging, and spoiler alert: you’re more capable than you think. 💪This episode is about so much more than cold water. It’s about choosing yourself, showing up even when it’s uncomfortable, and building resilience in the messiest moments. So if you’ve ever wondered if a few freezing minutes could change your day—or your life—this one’s for you.Grab that cozy beverage (then maybe toss it and jump into an ice bath 😅), and let’s get inspired.✨ Find Kris and ChillPod: 📍 Website: thechillpod.co 📷 Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/krisricewellness/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thechillpod.co/Connect with Everything’s Messy:Website: https://www.everythingsmessywellness.com/ X - https://x.com/everythingsmes/status/1767942253899817017?s=46Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/everythingsmessypodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/everythingsmessywellness/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@everythingsmessyEmail: :[email protected]: https://www.youtube.com/@everythingsmessy

#101 Food, Feelings & Freedom: Healing from the Inside Out

Send us Fan Mail🎙️ Trigger Warning: This episode discusses eating disorders, body image struggles, and emotional eating. Please take care while listening and skip this one if you're not in the headspace—your well-being comes first. 💛Hey friends! In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I sit down with the incredibly insightful Abby Mallard to dive into a topic that hits close to home for so many—eating disorders, control, and finding peace with food and our bodies. Abby opens up about her seven-year struggle, how food became her form of control, and the powerful shift that came when she finally reached out for help.We chat about the emotional rollercoaster of recovery, the role family dynamics can play, and how movement and nutrition can be tools for healing—not punishment. Abby brings so much wisdom and warmth, reminding us that healing is rarely linear, but it is possible. We talk movement, mindset, the myths around nutrition, and why it’s okay if food is emotional sometimes. Now on the other side of that mountain, Abby helps others do the same, offering support and wisdom for anyone struggling to find peace with their plate. Now, full transparency—this episode was supposed to have a video companion on YouTube, but let’s just say… new platform, rookie mistake, and the tech gremlins won this round. The audio and video didn’t quite vibe, so there won’t be a YouTube version for this one. Thanks for your patience with the audio, and I promise not to try anything fancy again without testing it first! 😉This conversation is real, raw, and so needed. #99 Burned Out Lawyers To Bold Coaches: Messy Life Advice For Mom's & Women Who Want More

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I sit down with two bold, brilliant, and beautifully messy women—Tovah Kopan and Rielly Karsh, hosts of the We Go Boldly podcast. 🎙️ I was lucky enough to be on their show recently (which was filled with so many laughs), and today I get to welcome them into my messy corner of the world. Both Tovah and Rielly started their professional lives as practicing attorneys, only to realize that climbing the ladder wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. 🧠💼 Tovah opens up about following the traditional checklist—law school, marriage, kids, career—and how walking away from it all (including her marriage) led her to healing, coaching, and ultimately a thriving, empowered life after breast cancer. 💪🎗️Rielly shares her own detour-filled path: from studying psychology to working at Child Protective Services on the Arizona-Mexico border, to law school, and then crashing into burnout while working in corporate finance. She talks about finding herself again through art, politics, therapy (lots of therapy!), and eventually becoming a coach, advocate, and proud messy mom. 🖌️👩‍👦Together, they tell the story of how they met (not on Tinder, but it’s funnier to pretend), and how one text—"Wanna start a podcast?"—launched a deep friendship and full-blown business. The We Go Boldly podcast was born out of a need to explore why women were disproportionately affected during the pandemic, but quickly grew into something bigger—something transformational. 🚀We talk about the pressures of traditional success, how soul-crushing it can be to "make it" only to realize you don’t want to be at the table you worked so hard to reach. We unpack the heavy question kids get asked—"What do you want to be when you grow up?"—and why a better one might be, "How do you want to help the world?" 🌍💡From law to leadership, boundaries to burnout, perimenopause to people-pleasing, we cover it all. Rielly and Tovah get real about setting boundaries (or learning how!), honoring your needs, and redefining success through the lens of authenticity and self-trust. 🛑➡️❤️They also share how their podcast grew into a coaching business and how they’re now part of the amazing Power Moms Network, supporting other women who are ready to shake things up. Whether you're running for office, raising a family, or figuring out your next chapter, this episode is for you. 🗳️👑🔥So grab your coffee cake (or something stronger) and tune in. Let’s normalize the mess, celebrate the strength, and turn our trauma into power. Because as we all agree—the mess makes us funny... and fierce. 😘💥Find out more about these powerhouse women at www.goboldlyinitiative.com, follow them on social @goboldlytogether, and definitely check out their podcast We Go Boldly! 🎧
