As we continue our yearly theme of "What Really Matters," we consider the words of Micah. In this study, Evangelists Gavin Williams and Jacob Holman consider Micah's writings in chapter 6 regarding what the Lord seeks in us and what He requires to be His children.

While fathers are vitally important to instilling faith in children, mothers are as well. A mother has many jobs in the home. This study by Evangelist Jacob Holman considers several biblical mothers and the faith they passed on to their children.

We often think of the book of Job as a book about Job's suffering. However, chapter 28 is different from the rest of the book. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines Job 28, which, like much of the book of Job, focuses on the source and value of wisdom.

John 2:1-12. Famously, the first sign that Jesus performs in the Gospel of John is His turning water into wine in chapter 2. It is a story that occurs as Jesus begins His ministry and a miracle done in secret. Though the miracle itself is familiar, in this study Evangelist Gavin Williams explores its meaning and its application to our lives today.

1 John 5:1-5 says that “His commandments are not burdensome.” However, this doesn't mean there won't be times when it is uncomfortable. In this study, Evangelist Xavier Redmon looks into what this means and why there are times when it doesn't seem true in our walk with Christ.

Titus 3 urges Christians to refrain from speaking evil of any person. God has a standard for Christians that is different from the world's standard. In this study, Evangelist Xavier Redmon examines how we can guard our tongue to the exceptional standard set before us in scripture.

In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul gives us stark and sometimes confusing details about the end of time. Yet, when we read this passage in its full context, it becomes encouraging and comforting. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams seeks to bring out the full message from the context.

Mark 7 contains two seemingly unrelated stories. First, Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for their unclean hearts, which are more focused on tradition than on God's word. Then, in a very strange interaction, Jesus calls a Gentile woman a "dog" before healing her daughter. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams uses the first story to help us understand the second.

Ephesians 2:1-22. When Paul describes the gospel story to the Ephesians in chapter 2, he looks at it through the lens of unity. First, the unity of former sinners with God. Then, the unity of the church, despite the divisions of the world around us. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines the unity of the church in Ephesians 2 despite the divisions in the world around us.

After a long, cold winter, spring is a season of active growth and thriving. The birds are singing, the trees are budding, the flowers are blooming, and the grass is growing. But spring is also a time for spring cleaning. In this lesson, Evangelist Jacob Holman examines the need for spiritual spring cleaning. A time to take a spiritual inventory of our lives, and clean out, tidy up, or throw away things that hinder our relationship with God.

Titus 2:11-14. A focus on Jesus and His death for us, and a statement that appears several times in the New Testament: “He gave Himself up for us.” In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman examines what "He gave Himself up for us" tells us about Jesus and what it means for our life in Him.

Numbers 27 contains two stories where God intervenes to provide for people. First, for 5 poor orphan girls. Second, for Moses and Israel. In this lesson, Evangelist Gavin Williams uses these powerful stories to illustrate how and when God chooses to give. God's love is just as active today as in the times of Moses.

Exodus 18:13-27. We all know that hard work is a Godly characteristic and recognize work as a virtue rooted in Biblical principles. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines the scriptures to find that not all forms of work are commendable or beneficial. We should reflect on the quality of our efforts and seek out work that honors our values and serves a higher purpose.

What Really Matters: God Reintroduces Himself by Fairview Church of Christ

Luke 17:1-10. In a passage about forgiving and serving others, Jesus tells the distraught disciples to view themselves as lowly servants. In this lesson, Evangelist Gavin Williams looks at how Luke 17 both humbles us and offers us comfort.

2 Timothy 2:20-26. As long as we speak and live the truth as Christians, there will be controversy in our lives. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman considers what Scripture says about both worldly attitudes toward controversy and Christlike responses.

Although Jesus Christ came to earth as "the Prince of peace," His life here was full of controversy. Jesus knew His teachings would result in conflict and controversy. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman looks at who Jesus was, what His mission on earth was, and how He handled controversy.

Luke 1-2. The birth of Jesus is one of the most important days in human history. It marks a significant turning point in the Bible story. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines the excitement the birth of Christ brought to Elizabeth, Mary, Simeon, and Anna.

Genesis 4. One fundamental truth of life and Scripture is "what you sow is what you reap." In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman examines Genesis 4 to see what it teaches about sowing sin's seed and reaping sin's fruit.

Genesis 2:18-25. When God created the world, the first relationship He created was marriage. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman considers God's original intent and instructions for marriage, focusing on three words found in Genesis 2:24.

Matthew 22:34-40. Jesus stressed the importance of loving our neighbor. The Old Testament law commanded the children of Israel to "love your neighbor as yourself." What does this really mean? In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams explores how loving your neighbor is foundational to all of God's laws.

Mark 12:28-34. We begin our 2026 congregational theme, "What Really Matters," by examining our love for God. This passage recounts the time a scribe asked Jesus about the foremost commandment. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman considers Jesus' words to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" as the foundation and motivation for our relationship with Him today.

In Haggai 1, the people are materially blessed but spiritually empty. How are we using the resources God has given us? In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines how we can find spiritual fulfillment through the use of our material blessings.

James 3-4. As we continue through the wisdom literature in 2026, these books have a lot to say about how we talk. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams explores how James illustrates that our words reflect our hearts, whether positively or negatively.

In Luke 14, Jesus is invited to a Pharisee's dinner party. He uses this opportunity to deliver a few proverbs and parables about our place in God's kingdom. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines the teachings of Jesus from this event and their application to us today.

Hebrews 10:36. At times in our lives, we all feel drained. We all reach the point where we think we can't put one foot in front of the other. It is at these times that we need endurance. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman considers the words of the Hebrews writer that "You have need of endurance," and learn how we endure life's trials today.

Ephesians 4:11-16. It is easy to take the leadership of Christ's church for granted and to fail to fully appreciate the efforts our Shepherds put into strengthening the church and benefiting us. In this study, Evangelist Jacob Holman reflects on Paul's teachings in Ephesians 4 about the importance of Christ's leaders.

In Matthew 7, Jesus paints four distinct illustrations to emphasize why we should pay attention to who He is. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines what these illustrations have to say about our lives and why we should care about Jesus.

Paul found joy in whatever situation he faced. He aspired to press on and learn more. Pressing on always reaches forward. We are not yet perfect; there is always room for growth. In this study, Evangelist Tim Copeland examines what life would be like if Jesus had never come into the world.

Ecc 3:11. There are many who doubt the existence of God. Although intelligent design is everywhere in our universe, the secular world fails to see God. The Bible points out things that should enchant us. In this study, Evangelist Tim Copeland examines some things that should enchant us about God.

Mark 9:14-29. In this story of a boy with an unclean spirit, the father shows true faith in Jesus even though others were unable to heal the boy. In this sermon, Evangelist Gavin Williams demonstrates the importance of choosing to believe in Jesus even in the face of doubt.

Throughout his writings, the Apostle John uses the imagery of light frequently to illustrate the need for Jesus in our lives. In this lesson, Evangelist Gavin Williams traces this thread through the books of John, 1 John, and Revelation to help us become children of light.

Ecclesiastes 11. While all of us need wisdom every day of our lives, young people need to know of God's wisdom. Psalm 121-122. We conclude our study of the Songs of Ascents in the Psalms. In this sermon, Evangelists Jacob Holman and Gavin Williams examine how these two psalms convey the joy and peace that can be found through a full understanding of God and His people.

1 Kings 2:1-9. We place great emphasis on providing our children with a good education. 1 Kings 18. There are many Bible stories that involve a mountain. This chapter in 1 Kings recounts the time Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. In this study, Evangelist Gavin Williams examines how God demonstrated His power on Mount Carmel and rained His blessings on Elijah and the people.
