    ‘‘Craft-a-Ganza!’’, 7 December 2015 at Handlebar

Five-to-Midnight appears around Toronto. She started producing and entertaining back in the ’90s. Now you can enjoy what you may have missed during her live sets! This fourth podcast, titled ‘‘Craft-a-Ganza!’’, was recorded 7 December 2015 at the Handlebar in Toronto’s Kensington Market. The set was recorded live, as always, with the promise of at least two slow-dance sets and one remix début by Five-to-Midnight of a well-known Canadian classic pop staple. This expanded edition includes the warm-up and winding-down tracks from before her usual start time and after bar closing. In all, this is nearly a five-hour set! * * * Five-to-Midnight live returns soon. Stay tuned. Be delighted by aural artefacts you never knew about. Go home with a better feel of Canadian and Antipodean artists and a whole mess of ‘‘whoa, wtf *IS* this song?’’ moments. Whenever you run into a song here which not even Shazam can ID — and this *will* happen — the episode pages on accozzaglia.ca include set playlists. Five-to-Midnight’s content spans from the ’70s onward. She takes especial care with the decade of 1982 to 1992. She was there and taking names. She knows it intimately. It means you won't experience a better feel for that pop culture anywhere else. ‘‘Retro’’ journeys never get to be this fun! Stop by a live set sometime!

EPISODE NOTES: Practice session #17 was recorded the day the Science and Security Board for the Bulletin of the Atomic Sciences said nope to 11:55 p.m. and changed things to 11:57 p.m. for the Doomsday Clock. It was brought closer to midnight doom not only because of continuing atomic threats and nuclear waste disposal challenges, but also because of escalating climatological effects of the Anthropocene. All DJ Five-to-Midnight podcasts from this date onward reflect this adjustment of the Doomsday Clock with a transparent “7” for all accompanying podcast art.

    Practice Session #13

As part of the DJ Five-to-Midnight podcasts, the Practice Sessions podcast series is a spin-off which chronicles how she gets ideas for her live audience performances. They’re basically home demos. Most run about two hours in duration. Some are more polished than others. These won’t be posted in any particular order. EPISODE NOTES: Practice Session #13 was recorded the day after I was gifted with a set of Sennheiser HD 25-1 II monitor headphones. The placebo effect would tell me that this practice session was tighter than most of the previous sessions (all of which used a set of Sony MDR-V700 headphones I bought back in May 2001). It actually was when things got easier to hear and to do so with less ear fatigue. By comparison, the MDR-700s felt like unpleasantly flat pancakes afterwards. The music selection had nothing to do with headphones. Except for maybe “Valley Girl”. IDK.
