Lauren Weimer’s Hope Story: Friendship with Jesus, a Guiding Star
Megan and Laura are back after a long Jubilee rest! We are happy to be back listening to stories of Regnum Christi women building the Kingdom throughout the world. Today we are joined by an RC young woman from Canada, Lauren Weimer. She just finished serving two years as a Regnum Christi Missionary in Atlanta, Georgia. Lauren shares with us how her relationship with Jesus, her Best Friend, has shaped her life and mission and fueled her desire to share His love with others—especially through the beautiful apostolate of ECYD! Her story is a shining example of what Pope Leo said to the young people this summer in Tor Vegata in Rome, "Friendship in Christ is not just helping others build the future; it is our guiding star!” May we all aspire to live our life alongside our Lord and Friend, Jesus, and spend our lives giving His love to others! Savanna Plunkett's Story: Hope in God's Plan
We are continuing as pilgrims of hope in the Jubilee Year, now enjoying the graces of Pentecost! Last episode, we were able to listen to Betti’s story as she prepared for her first vows. In today's episode, we'll sit around the table with Savanna, a young woman who is just beginning her vocational discernment with the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. It’s beautiful to hear the fresh love she has for the Lord and how she sees God’s fidelity in her own life, filled with many twists and turns. He is faithful, and that is a great reason for HOPE. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.-Jeremiah 29:11

Betti Duda's Story: Hope in God's Call
Happy Easter, dear listeners! After a bit of a stint, Laura and Megan are back with testimonies of hope to inspire you in this Jubilee Year as Pilgrims of Hope! This week they are joined by a young woman, Betti Duda, who is in her candidacy before making first vows with the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. She shares how she had a conversion on the night St. John Paul II died, and how that night was the catalyst of her vocational journey. To quote the last homily of our late Pope Francis: “And so we cannot settle for the fleeting things of this world or give in to sadness; we must run, filled with joy. Let us run towards Jesus, let us rediscover the inestimable grace of being his friends.” Love for Jesus impels her, and we pray it impels each of you to follow the call the Lord has placed on your hearts and in your lives.

From her Ohio home, this wife, mother, and grandmother has found deep hope in the mission of listening and witnessing to others and getting a front-row seat to God’s glory. Welcome to Season 2: Hope-telling
Welcome to Season 2 on the For This Moment Podcast! Megan and Laura take time during this episode to reflect on the past year of the podcast and the blessings they’ve received, as well as launch the new season. This year will be focused on story-telling or, as Pope Francis says, “hope-telling”. The podcast will now focus on RC women with stories of hope to nourish you on your pilgrim journey this Jubilee Year. On January 25, 2025, Pope Francis encouraged us to tell stories filled with hope that nourish the soul. “Telling hope,” he said “means allowing people to hope against hope..having a gaze that transforms things, making them what they could and should be.” Here’s to a new season and being apostles of hope!

Holly Schapker & Emily Berminngham: Way of Beauty
This week we have a unique episode! Our first time interviewing two women who share a similar passion: the way of beauty. Megan and Laura's sister, Emily, and Holly join us around the table to discuss how they find God's love through beauty. They are both artists, and describe how their love for art's creative process ultimately points them to God. Both share how this love for art has helped them both put on and attend the Regnum Christi Artist retreat in Cincinnati, Ohio. "The Church needs art and artists, for beauty is the promise of happiness. The greatness of art is rooted in the fact that it seeks and finds a bridge to the human soul... Art opens up to us a path to the divine, showing us a beauty that reflects the glory of God."-Pope St. John Paul II, Letter to Artist, 1999 RC Artist Retreat: https://www.regnumchristi.com/en/stained-and-sainted-an-artists-retreat-in-cincinnati/Holly's website: https://www.hollyschapker.comBooks mentioned in the podcast: "This Beautiful Truth" by Sarah Clarkson "God is beauty" by Pope St. John Paul II (commentary by Christopher West) "A Severe Mercy" by Sheldon Vanauken

Around the table, we are delighted to invite our guest, Elsa Hoffman, whose knack for storytelling illustrates God's presence with her throughout her life. Her story of being impacted as a young child in a faith-filled family, her deep desire as a wife and mother to pass that faith on, and her adventures of moving cross-country and founding K4J (Kids for Jesus) all contribute to how God has prepared her for such a time as this to help start a new apostolate for young families. Elizabeth Matthews' Story: Count it all joy
Megan and Laura are kicking off the new year of 2025 with an interview with their mom, Elizabeth (Beth) Matthews. It truly was girl time around the table as they listened to Beth share her story of the tender faith in her childhood: from nightly rosary to the mountains of Peru. Beth shares how her desire to know the faith and pass it on to others grew stronger each year. Regnum Christi was an answered prayer and has been, for nearly 30 years, an instrument of grace in her life. This episode includes a bonus Advent by Candlelight talk Laura and Beth gave in Atlanta, Georgia. In all the many stories Beth shares, she truly can say she can “count it all joy”! “Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”-James 1:2-4 Show notes: “Precious Treasure” by Elizabeth Matthews: https://stpaulcenter.com/product/precious-treasure-the-story-of-patrick/?srsltid=AfmBOorKedbvsPeNT6aW5A8pKzXjvBhSKJcAE1N97babdSVT6b_rlDXs

Anna Hudson's Story: The Ministry That Found Me
Laura and Megan enjoyed meeting a new friend this week on the podcast. Anna shares her beautiful “heart story” from her missionary experiences in India and other foreign countries, meeting Regnum Christi and now serving in the ministry of spiritual direction. She shares how both types of contemplative and missionary experiences are all wonderful adventures with God, who loves us so much. The summary of her experiences is found in Isaiah 43:1 “Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you, you are mine.” This unshakable trust now leads her to live life with an abandonment to God, as she says “Bring it on!” Besides being a spiritual director, Anna also engages in speaking about her experiences of missionary life and finding within the ordinary, extraordinary purpose. Amber Starr’s Story: Further up and further in
This week, Megan invites one of her closest mom friends and Regnum Christi sister, Amber Starr. Amber shares with us her story–from when she joined ECYD as a young girl to how her relationship went from knowing about God to loving Him and following Him through the twists and turns of life. Similar to climbing a mountain, Amber shares how the landscape can seem the same, but as you deepen into the heart of Jesus, you gain a better perspective. Megan quotes C.S. Lewis’ Last Battle to describe this experience: "This is the land I have been looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now. The reason why we loved the old Narnia is that it sometimes looked a little like this…. Come further up, come further in!” In this episode, Megan and Amber share the beauty and sacred mission of motherhood and how, through it, they are sanctifying themselves, their families, and the Church. Truly, they are building the Kingdom by serving and loving as wives and mothers.

Maddie Nagel's Story: God's Perfect Timing
After a short stint away, Megan and Laura are back in the swing of things with our lovely guest, Maddie Nagel! Maddie joins us from Atlanta, Georgia where she is serving as High School Campus Minister. Maddie shares with us how by listening to God’s voice and following His lead through the circumstances of her life she was brought, in His perfect timing, back to the very place she had given two years as a Regnum Christi Missionary. We enjoy swapping stories about how God works through the circumstances in our lives, ever leading us on, even if it seems mysterious what He is doing. Waiting on Him, trusting Him, and holding on in hard moments, lead to the places the Good Shepherd has prepared for us. Enjoy listening to Maddie share how she is giving the RC charism she received as a young girl to other young people. As Pope Francis said in his letter to young people on November 9, 2023: “Dear young people, do not be afraid to share with others the hope and joy of the risen Christ! Nurture the spark that has been kindled in you, but at the same time share it. You will come to realize that it grows by being given away!” Show notes: The song “Available” Laura mentions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjIY4UKGl-Y To learn more about our Regnum Christi school, Pinecrest Academy, visit: https://www.pinecrestacademy.org/about/welcome Another poem mentioned in the podcast: Lead, Kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom,Lead Thou me on;The night is dark, and I am far from home,Lead Thou me on.Keep Thou my feet;I do not ask to see the distant scene;one step enough for me. I was not ever thus, nor prayed thatThou shouldst lead me on;I loved to choose and see my path; but nowLead Thou me on.I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears, pride ruled my will;remember not past years. So long Thy power hath blessed me, sure it stillWill lead me on.O'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, tillThe night is gone; And with the morn those angel faces smile,Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile. -St. John Henry Newman

Mary Schwarz's Story: Meeting those at the crossroads
Today we are around the table with Mary Schwarz who has “traveled the farthest” of all our guests-joining us from the Philippines! Mary shares how she was first drawn to God through the existential ache for Him through beauty, how in college she found she could have a personal relationship with Him, and how He drew her to Himself through her vocation as a Consecrated Woman of Regnum Christi. Enjoy listening to Mary’s new and exciting apostolate of teaching the Alpha Course to law students at Manila’s De La Salle University and how she has gathered a community of apostles to help her live out this mission. Mary uses her spiritual charism of evangelization to reach a population that doesn’t know Him. We recognize that we are engaged by Christ’s call: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19) to go beyond our known borders. We want to share his Heart of a Shepherd who, in today’s world, more than leaving the ninety-nine sheep to go after the one, brings and works with the one to go search for the ninety-nine together with him; to go out to meet those who are away and distant at the crossroads.-Regnum Christi General Convention Communique, n. 21 Thank you, Mary, for reading “the world from the Heart of Christ” (RC General Convention Communique, n. 20) and responding to His invitation with a generous yes–going out to meet those at the crossroads! Genesis Torrens' Story: An Apostle on Fire
For this week’s episode, Laura got to have the guest over in person! She and Megan had the opportunity to sit around the table with Genesis Torrens. Genesis is the current director of Youth Faith Formation at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish in Cumming, Georgia. There she has the grace to impact over a thousand young people and their families, giving back the same formation and love for Jesus that she received as a young girl through ECYD. Genesis’ story began at a retreat in Arizona when, as a young 11 year old girl, she first met the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. Since that first encounter with the Lord, she received a grace to be set on fire for him and to spend her life to make his Kingdom come. The passage that came to mind while listening to Genesis was Matthew 5: 14-16. “A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Thank you, Genesis, for coming on this week to shine your joyful light!

Angela Miles & Sarah Buckbee's Story: Everything gives Him glory
This week’s episode is fun: two sisters interviewing two sisters! Sarah and Angie are new Regnum Christi members and share with us how, through the gift of the Eucharist and sacramental life, especially in their parish, they’ve been able to find hope, healing, and a desire to serve the Lord using their time and talents. This episode will especially strike a chord for women who are building up the domestic Church in the beautifully mundane day-to-day of motherhood. We speak about how this glorifies God and builds His Kingdom, like a mosaic in a cathedral. It may be unseen by us, but God sees it all. We pray that mothers, especially those who sometimes feel hidden, will feel seen and encouraged in this episode. Each of our homes and families is a corner of the Kingdom that is also called to spread the love of God. “And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”- Matthew 6:4 We hope you enjoy this conversation and the love and bond between these sisters. We were inspired by their gratitude and how they champion one another! Thank you, Sarah and Angie!

Jennifer No's Story: A Family of Missionary Apostles
Jennifer No, a loving wife and mother, shares with us how the Lord prepared her to say “yes” to be the Mission Youth and Family Director in Washington, D.C. alongside her husband. The beauty of her call lies behind how the Lord shaped her path: from a loving, nurturing Catholic family, to meeting Jesus more deeply in her adulthood through Spiritual Exercises, to launching the Walking with Purpose program in her parish, to being approached to consider the director role for Mission Youth. It is very clear how the Holy Spirit prepares us, one step at a time, for this moment we are called to! As the RC Convention Communique 2024, n. 19 says, “An epochal change like the one we are experiencing requires a courageous and radical missionary choice. Small changes in our traditional pastoral work will be insufficient, and the mere implementation of means, plans, manuals, and programs will not be enough either. These all lead us to places we are already familiar with; to paraphrase St. John of the Cross, in order to arrive at where we do not yet know, we should walk where we do not know.” Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing with us your courageous and radical missionary choice to go out to the homeless, door-to-door, March for Life, etc. in the heart of our country, and for forming the next generation of missionary apostles! We have a special episode on the podcast after a grace-filled 10th National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis! This week Laura is joined by her consecrated sister, Carrie O’Connor. Carrie has recently returned to the USA after nearly a decade of serving in Chile and as she attended the Congress, she felt Jesus whisper to her heart: “Welcome Home!” A Eucharistic homecoming! Enjoy listening as they share some experiences: from the life-affirming encounters at the RC booth, the Eucharistic adoration with over 60,000 people, and the Eucharistic procession with leading the way with 1,000 other religious and consecrated. Eileen Wieck’s Story: Finding our voice in the Beloved
It’s our 10th episode! We had the grace to interview Eileen Wick, a spiritual director, public speaker, retreat director, and, most importantly, as she says, beloved daughter of God. Eileen, originally from Edmonton, Canada, has lived in California for over 20 years with her husband and six children. Eileen's story begins with a profound sense of God's presence from a young age. She recalls a powerful spiritual encounter at the age of six, which instilled a deep sense of belonging and belovedness in her. This early faith was nurtured through her involvement with Regnum Christi during her teenage years, where she found a personal and passionate relationship with Christ. Eileen's desire to serve others led her to spiritual direction and, eventually, to founding her own company. "Direction for Your Soul" offers integrated healing approaches, including spiritual direction, coaching, inner healing prayer, and mental health referrals. The ministry aims to address the whole person—spiritually, intellectually, and physically. Eileen also founded "All Things Women," a community that supports women seeking deeper intimacy with God and each other through retreats, pilgrimages, and other forms of formation. Eileen's ministries emphasize the importance of recognizing and nurturing the unique gifts and potential within each woman. Through retreats like "Sacred Stories," which focuses on the examen prayer and discernment of spirits, Eileen and her team aim to help women grow in their faith and healing. Our conversation highlights the significance of women supporting each other, championing and calling each other to greatness, and living out their God-given missions. Colin and Jean Mackenzie’s Story: Rebuilding the Domestic Church
We’re excited to welcome our first married couple to the podcast! Colin and Jean are long-time RC members who’ve combined their psychological and military backgrounds to serve a joint mission and passion: a ministry to support and strengthen marriages! Jean uses her gifts in counseling and Colin uses his strategic strengths to come up with a tool to help serve married couples, as there is a clear attack on marriage in our modern world. The online course they offer, Holy Union Blueprint, helps couples cultivate a deeper connection with God and their spouse. The recent Regnum Christi General Convention highlighted the importance of pastoral work with married couples in all its stages: “Strengthen pastoral care for marriage and the family, as it is the basic nucleus of society and the natural place where the person discovers themself, develops, and learns to love. We want the structure of Regnum Christi to respond better to the needs of marriages and to elaborate formative itineraries that accompany the vocation to love along all its stages and situations: dating, marriage prep, marriage, families with children, old age, and widowhood, as well as separation or divorce when it unfortunately occurs. We want to form and project true apostles of marriage and the family.”-Communique n. 27 Thank you, Jean and Colin, for responding to the need with your time and talent! Helen Yalbir's Story: RC General Convention as discerning together in the heart of the Church
We are honored to sit down with Helen Yalbir today as she shares her experience attending the RC General Convention in Rome! Before diving into what it was like at the Convention, Helen shared a little about how she first met Regnum Christi and felt called to consecrated life. We chat about everything from her work as a spiritual director and serving young adults in Dallas, Texas, to her unique Turkish culture and all the many ways God has prepared her for this moment. In the hope-filled conversation, Helen describes the family spirit and profound listening, prayer, and discernment that imbues her experience of the RC General Convention. She does a great job of explaining the structure, process, and some key takeaways. We highly encourage you to check out the links below, especially the communiqué with the conclusions—a worthwhile and powerful read! May we all live this spirit of prayerful discernment as we ponder what God desires for each one of us in our own countries, localities, and families. One particular line from the communiqué stuck out as we continue to journey, listening to the stories of RC members around the world: “This is the time of God’s grace for us, our kairós; it is time for the spiritual joy of the here and now, the moment to express redeeming love to all. We can regard the past without nostalgia or fear as it is the memory of God with us. We can look to the future with theological hope and without fantasies of earthly greatness.” Truly, this is a time of God’s grace, a time for each of us to step out bravely in mission, a time for us to individually respond to what God may be asking us for this moment, for such a time as this. Jaella Mac Au's Story: On the Pilgrim Journey with God
This week, around the table on the For This Moment Podcast, we are blessed to have Jaella Mac Au join us. She is a young woman from Atlanta, an RC member, and currently a Eucharistic Perpetual Pilgrim journeying the 2,200 miles from California to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the National Eucharistic Congress. Jaella gives us a bit of her backstory about how she went from someone who didn’t really have God in her life to becoming His missionary and apostle of the Kingdom. While you listen, you can consider all the small and big ways God the Good Shepherd has allowed different moments and chapters of your story to unfold to prepare you for your own personal mission. Where do you hear His call at this moment? We invite all the listeners to pray for a deep Eucharistic Revival in the hearts of all Catholics as the longest Eucharistic Procession in history takes place across the United States. The beauty of the Mystical Body is that we, too, can be on the journey every time we receive His Body and Blood present in the Eucharist. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”-Isaiah 6:8. Julia O'Connor's Story: In the Garden of the King
Today's episode is with our lovely guest, Julia O'Connor! She is a wife, mother, and current Louisville RC Women's Section Director. In our conversation, Julia opens her heart to share all the places of intimacy in her relationship with Our Lord and how He invites her to collaborate in His mission. She beautifully describes how the image of being and working in God's garden has been woven throughout her life's story, vocation, and current mission. Her testimony reminds us that our yes in the present moment is always a response to the love of God poured into us. We hope this episode inspires you to lean close to His heart in this novena of Pentecost and hear how He invites you to respond in love to His love.Listening to Julia's story, Laura is reminded of a quote from the book "Divine Intimacy": "Your goodness is your mission. God's goodness is infinite, and nothing can be added to it. So, the goodness you bring to this earth was not created with your existence. Whatever good that comes from you already exists in Him. Some part of His infinite goodness was previously hidden until your birth. This is your mission. You are an icon of His goodness. You are needed. Show the world your goodness; show the world a part of God's face previously unseen."May this episode bless you, dear listeners. Know that you are always in our prayers as you go about being icons of God's goodness and love!

Lisa Small's Story: Serving the whole spiritual family
Today's guest on the For This Moment Podcast is Consecrated Woman of Regnum Christi Lisa Small from New Zealand. She shares her story of a deep love for Jesus in the Eucharist which led her to follow Him in the vocation to consecrated life and leaving everything, even her country, to follow His lead. Her profound love for the spiritual family of Regnum Christi and her own experiences of suffering have not only shaped her but also led her to a personal mission of serving the whole spiritual family, accompanying them with unwavering love, prayer, and discernment. "I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. Valerie Doran's Story: Building the Kingdom one yes at a time
This week's guest on the For This Moment Podcast is wife and mother Valerie Doran from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She shares her story of discovering a deep and personal relationship with Jesus in adoration and how he led her to Regnum Christi. She opens her heart about offering Jesus her littleness and how, by being docile to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, she was given the grace to found Captivenia Girls' Camp. Her "yes" to this mission has set a chain reaction for others to step out boldly to serve through their gifts and talents. Over the years, it has also touched the lives of thousands of young women and girls who have met Jesus through the experience of Captivenia. We never know where our yes to Jesus may lead, but it is always to something beautiful. "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '" — Jeremiah 29:11. Mary Peach's Story: The Understanding Heart of God
Today's guest on the For This Moment Podcast is Mary Peach from Cincinnati. She shares how, as a young girl arriving from Ethiopia, she discovered God's understanding love and how she has been able to extend that love in her daily life, especially as a Catholic school teacher. "Lord, you have probed me; you know me: you know when I sit and stand; you understand my thoughts from afar. You sift through my travels and my rest; with all my ways, you are familiar. Even before a word is on my tongue, Lord, you know it all."-Psalm 139: 1-4 As mentioned on the podcast, RC Music Collective music can be found at https://www.rcmusiccollective.org/ If you enjoyed this episode, follow us on Instagram @forthismomentpodcast
