It is a monumental day as Esau receives Jacob and his gifts and reconciles with his brother! God has likewise given to us the ministry of reconciliation. As much as is within us, we are to live at peace with all men (Romans 12:18). This peace between the brothers lasts throughout their lifetimes, however, regrettably, the peace does not extend throughout the generations of their descendants. As the sun rises upon Jacob and he departs Penuel, he lifts up his eyes and sees his twin, Esau, whom he hasn't seen now in more than twenty years! Being assured of God's Presence, Purpose and Promise that he prevails with God and man, he assembles his family (each child with his mother) with Rachel and Joseph hindmost and he heads the procession toward Esau.
