Born To Win Bible Study #43

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Weekend Bible Study, the first study of the year 2009. If you wrote any checks today, did you date them 2008 or or 2009? It isn't quite as confusing as remembering to switch from 1999 to 2000. I just realized that we have some babes in arms today who may still be around when the next century stars in 2101. I don't even want to think about what the world will look like by then. Please remember us in your prayers that God will send workers into the harvest. We are in better shape than we were a few weeks ago, but we still have needs. Meanwhile, the Gospel according to Luke awaits us. Open your Bible and and get your notes ready. Grab a fresh cup of coffee or cocoa, and let's begin with Luke 17.

Born To Win Bible Study #42

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the newly refreshed Weekend Bible Study—at least we hope so. We think we have the fix in place and we have a clearer idea of how to stay on top of our information technology. It becomes increasingly important by the day. I have heard some people say that they have dropped off the email newsletter list. That should not happen unless an email bounces. Just go to the Borntowin.net site and notice the scrolling link at the top to the email newsletter. That link will take you to a page where you can update your subscription, either with a new address or to kill a bad address. We could do it for you, but it saves a lot of time if you do it, and it is easy. When you enter your email address and click on subscribe, you will then get an email asking you to confirm. Just reply to the email with “subscribe” in the subject line and you are in. We need to make better use of this list, and we hope to in the near future. We are seriously considering how to serve our list better. Soon, we may be back to providing a stand up sermon from the three of us (and more). We just have to figure out a few issues. Your prayers will be appreciated. We are looking hard at next year’s budget, and while we aren’t worried, we know we may have to make some adjustments. We can’t provide the service you folks need without people, and they do impact the budget. Just something else for you to pray for. Now, grab a cup of coffee or tea, maybe a cookie or a scone, open your Bible and notebook, and let’s study Luke 16. Questions will follow Luke.

Luke 15 - December 19, 2008 Hello everyone and welcome back. I hope this week represents getting back on schedule after a December to remember and avoid. I wouldn't say we had a perfect storm of problems, but certainly a confluence that threw us off a bit. Speaking for myself, I am really glad to be getting back to normal. That said, none of us know what to expect with all the government bail outs, except that I am reasonably sure that there will be no bail outs for ministries like ours. Fortunately, we have been careful and we should be able to weather the economic storm. It may involve some cutbacks in radio, but so far, so good. We will be very grateful for your prayers - not least, that God will send us the help we need. Having looked at the question situation today, I have decided that the best approach will be to start with Luke and then see how we are fixed for time and questions afterward. So, get yourself organized, get a cup of coffee, your Bible and a notepad, and let's talk about Luke chapter 15.

Luke 14 - December 12, 2008 Hello everyone and welcome back to the weekend Bible study. I am sorry to have been off so much recently, but I had a bad cold, then we had thanksgiving, then I got the Flu. I am recovering well, but if you have had the flu, you know what that means. For me it means that this is the last year I will skip the flu shot. Inform yourself, because not taking precautions can be the most expensive thing you do. Flu places great stress on every organ in the body. I very much appreciate all your prayers, because I have come out of this faster than most people do. You are probably also wondering about the format change you are seeing, here. Well, we've recently had server problems to end all server problems and this temporary measure at least allows us to keep the Weekend Bible Study up and running. Hopefully, we will have everything back to normal by this time next week. One other note of interest - we are returning to the Emerald Coast Conference Center in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for the Feast in 2009. More information will follow on that bit of good news. Well, my comment about not having any questions seems to have stirred some action, because this time we do. So freshen up your drink, open your Bible, click the 'play' button and let’s see where we go, with Luke 14.
