Episode 12 - Death. The inevitable happens and Grandad dies.  On his death bed he hands over his watch to Michael, the watch that has never left his wrist in thirty five years.  Michael travels to Germany to recuperate and is even more disconsolate when he inevitably has to return home to his studies. During the journey home however, an incident reminds him of Grandad's wise words and he makes the final transition from boy to man.

Episode 11 - Awards Day. Toad Fallout's practice session nearly ends in a neighbour's death and their first public performance at the Askern Tin Hut is anything but a success. Michael receives his school diploma for outstanding results and admits to the celebrity presenting the award "I cheated!".

Episode 10 - Bones. Grandad is sinking fast. God and medical science are asked for help but it is too late. Grandad cannot see, smell, feel but he can still hear. Michael remembers other 'deaths' in the family and at school,  last day of term is proving more eventful than he'd ever imagined.

Episode 9 - Syphylis. Careers Officer suggests that Michael should be a Public Health Inspector when Michael wants to be a pilot and Amber is taken into a psychiatric hospital as her weight plummets to five and a half stone.  Sonya, Amber's room mate, could 'kill' for a cigarette (called a 'fag' in the UK) and Kaiser has a bad 'trip' and discovers goblins in his front room.

Episode 8 - Anorexia. Michael reveals the secret of baby sitting to Amber and describes the  'Michael Method' for controlling a six and eight year old. This includes the sacrificial hanging of the favourite teddy followed by the 'tie them to a chair' routine guaranteed to keep the little ones quiet; "the knives aren't very sharp anyway". Michael recalls how he first met Amber as she was saving aunty Joan from  being almost 'burned' alive!

Episode 7 - The Funeral. The other grandmother dies. Michael's father attempts to keep off the vulturous progeny and 'arranges' everything, despite his new teeth. Aunty Ivy discusses her old poodle Pepe's pathological indispositions and the evening ends in chaos as a phone call from the police at the 'do' after the funeral proclaims, "She's down't wrong ole!

Episode 6 - Sports Day. Michael is triumphant in the school sports day all-comers mile, despite his modesty, and much to the delight of the ever-present Germans. Mr. Cochran's jacket is inadvertently destroyed during a Boycottesque run-out attempt during the teachers versus pupils annual cricket match. Michael reminisces about the time Grandad broke a woman's arm.

Episode 5 - Joan. Michael invites Amber and the Germans to tea with his three younger brothers, Mother, aunty Joan and Joan's friend, Colin, the epileptic who only fits when excited and exclaims at the party " I'm excited!".  A day out to Richmond on Michael's dad's coach almost ends in disaster when the windscreen is shattered at high speed. Thankfully father had been drinking!.

Episode 4 - Charlie's Party. Charlie, the school Head Boy, is cajoled into having a party while his parents are on holiday but his aunty, who lives across the road, calls the police who are convinced that the tea-leaves being smoked in a pipe are 'marijuana'. 

Episode 3 - The Germans. The Germans are coming!  Amber's pen-friends arrive for a four week exchange visit. The revellers on the way to Charlie's party are nearly expelled from the bus when a fellow traveller reveals that he can speak Swahili and attempts to put a curse on the bus conductress.

Episode 2 - Toad Fallout. Michael begins to reminisce about the time before Grandad became 'ill'. He recounts the band's rehearsal for their first live 'gig'  and brush with death as Kaiser fires a loaded gun. He recalls his grandad's visit to the doctor with his daughter, Marge as camouflage, to discuss his liaison with syphilis, caught whilst visiting a Paris brothel.

Episode 1 - Grandad. Michael is a teenager with a thirst for life, dying to learn as his grandfather is learning to die. Grandfather is dying a slow, painful death. Michael's best friend submits to anorexia. Father is an alcoholic. Aunty Joan suffers from Down's Syndrome but this doesn't seem to have impaired her sexual appetite. Michael falls in love with a German exchange student. Is it going to end in tears?
