Glordinary
by Stacy Holmes
My life is very ordinary. I’m not glamorous. But in a culture that’s constantly chasing the next shiny thing, there’s something deeply satisfying about a ”long obedience in the same direction.” Join me as we glimpse God’s Glory and champion the ordinary.

#122- That's A Wrap! A Glordinary Conversation with Alicia Takens
What if the “hmm…” moments in your life aren’t random at all? In this special guest interview wrapping up our Say What? series, I sit down with my dear friend, Alicia Takens, for a rich and honest conversation about learning to recognize the sacred thread God is weaving through our stories. Together, we talk about what it looks like to pause long enough to ponder, notice where God is showing up in the ordinary, and trust that He’s still authoring every chapter—even the confusing ones. If you’ve been wondering where God is in your own story lately, this conversation might help you slow down long enough to notice Him again. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Because each one sharpened the picture of God at His work in her life, in the life of her child. And as she pondered these, she could trace the sacred thread through the story of her life and the unfolding plan in her son’s." #121- Don't Miss the Hmm...Moments: What Am I Saying Hmm...To?
Not everything in life comes with a clear yes or no. Some moments just sit with us—unfinished, unclear, a little confusing. Grab your coffee, and let’s talk about those quiet, in-between spaces. And hey, we might even learn a thing or two from Mary, who “pondered” what God was doing, even when she didn’t fully understand it. What if instead of rushing past those moments, we actually paid attention? Listen in to the final chat in our series- Say What? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "We live in a loud world. Busy schedules. Balls constantly in motion, right? And in the middle of all the volume, we can miss the “Holy Hmm…” We can miss the pondering." #120- Yes, No...Maybe? : What Am I Saying Maybe To?
Ever find yourself stuck in the “maybe”? Not a clear yes. Not a firm no. Just…back and forth. In this week’s episode of Glordinary, we’re talking about that in-between space—the overthinking, the second-guessing, and the fear of getting it wrong that keeps us stuck longer than we’d like to admit. From a not-so-simple timeshare “maybe” to a powerful picture in Scripture, we’ll look at what indecision does to us… and how God gently leads us out of the turbulence and into still waters. If you’ve been circling a decision, this one’s for you. Listen in to the third chat in our series- Say What? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "They keep us stuck. Not because we’re lazy. Not because we don’t care. Maybe keeps us stuck because honestly, we’re afraid." #119- Everything About This Feels Wrong: How to Keep Going
Some episodes feel light. This one doesn’t, sadly. This week, I’m stepping into the raw reality of grief after the sudden loss of a close friend’s mother—someone who felt like family to me. The kind of loss that stops you in your tracks and makes you whisper, “Everything about this feels wrong.” Because it does. Because it is. In this episode, I’m holding onto one steady Truth for the moments when even the next breath feels hard: The Lord is the one who keeps me going. If you’re carrying grief or walking through loss, this one’s for you. And even if you’re not, listen in to Episode #119 for how you might walk alongside someone else in the valley. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "As I sat with my friend, grieving with her, grieving for her, I kept replaying that comment in my heart. “Lord, everything about this feels wrong.” And then it hit me. It feels wrong because it *is* wrong." You can now find Glordinary, Inc. as a charity on Venmo or PayPal, or find me on our website: www.glordinary.com for any other method of giving. #118- From Yes to Blessed: What Am I Saying Yes To?
What are you saying yes to? Because let’s real-talk for a sec—some of our yeses come from guilt, pressure, or a well-timed “Can you just…?” And those yeses? They can be ouchy. In this episode, we continue the Say What? series by heading to Exodus 35 and asking a better question: how do we decide what deserves our yes? Instead of overthinking it—or burning out trying to do everything—we’re working through a simple grid: What do I have? What am I willing to give? What am I good at? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Because some of us start strong with a huge yes, only to fizzle out because it’s not sustainable. Our yes quickly becomes a no-show. Others get stuck before they start, courtesy of perfectionism, overthinking, or maybe fear. But maybe Exodus 35 offers us a grid to say yes and sustain the yes." #117- From No To Know: What Am I Saying No To?
We all love a good shortcut. Faster. Easier. Cleaner. Yes, please. But what happens when shortcuts aren’t actually shorter? In this episode, we meet Naaman. He needed a miracle, but not like this! And his first response? No. And honestly? Same. Sometimes the very thing we’re saying no to is the place where God wants to meet us most. (I know. I don’t love that either!) Because while it’s true that God knows how to speak to us in a way we know how to hear, the real question is: what are we saying back? Grab your coffee for the kickoff episode of our new series- Say What? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Naaman wanted the easy button, the quick fix. He wanted Elisha to just wave his hand over the spot and cure him, to shortcut this. Me too, Naaman. But some things aren’t meant to be short-cutted." NEW Series Starting! Say What?
Spring is here, and so is a fresh conversation. In this short teaser, I'll introduce the new Say What? series—exploring not just how God speaks to us, but how we respond. Because if He knows how to speak to us, the real question becomes: what are we saying back? New episodes release each Wednesday.

#116- The Space Between Friday & Sunday: Finding God in the In-Between
We love Sunday—the empty tomb, the victory, the resurrection. But many times, life doesn’t feel like Sunday. It feels like Saturday. In this episode, we walk through the “itinerary” of Easter week and pause in the space we often rush past—Saturday. The in-between. The waiting. The questions. The quiet. The liminal space. Because even in the silence, God is still at work. If you find yourself in a Saturday season, this is your reminder: it’s not the end of the story. Sunday is coming. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "But I don’t think you have to imagine. I think you know this place. Different details. But you know this space of asking, “Where You at, God? Are You gonna show up?" #115- Name It, Don't Keep It: Let God Carry What You Name
Names matter. But so does who carries them. As we continue our Spring seasonal examen, this episode explores what happens after we’ve named where we are—our fears, grief, and the places we feel stuck. Before we know it, naming can turn into owning. We'll chat about Exodus 3 when Moses shifts from “Who am I?” to “Who is He?” It's an invitation to name it honestly… and then place it back into the hands of the great I AM. Because you don’t have to carry what you’ve named. www.glordinary.com You can now find Glordinary, Inc. as a charity on Venmo or PayPal, or find me on our website: www.glordinary.com for any other method of giving. #114- Don't Hit Snooze on Spring: The Glordinary Spring Examen
My calendar tells me spring begins on Friday. Michigan didn’t get the memo, per usual. Hmm… Spring is a natural time to wake up… but it’s easy to keep hitting snooze on the life you’re living. What if you paused for just a few moments and took stock of the season you’re in? In this episode of Glordinary, I’m sharing the simple examen I use at the beginning of each calendar season—four gentle prompts to help you wake up this spring: Spot. See. Skip. Savor. Join me! www.glordinary.com The Glordinary Spring Examen: (adapted from Emily P. Freeman's: A Soul Minimalist's Guide to Autumn) Spot: (Spot where you are right now. Think of this like the spot on a map that says, “You are here.”) Spot where you are right now: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. What is the state of your body? (One word…Maybe, tired. Weary. Rested. Energized. Spot what your physical body is feeling.) What’s on your mind? What’s going on in your heart? What questions are you carrying into this season? See (Next, see what needs your attention.) What in your inner life needs care? What might you or your family members be facing between now and summer? Is there a decision you’ve been thinking about? A conversation you need to have? Is there something or someone you need to forgive, lament, or release? Skip (It’s time to make some space.) What can you skip this season? Is there something you will choose to no longer carry? Somewhere you can choose to be absent? (Even the best of things can bring a mountain of stress to an overfilled season. What can you skip this season?) Savor (Plan your presence and savor what’s filling you.) What would be life-giving for you this spring? Pay attention to your senses. (What do you want to see, hear, smell, taste, touch?) What would help you be fully present in this season? Not zoning out, vegging out, blacking out. Not mindless scrolling or numbing distractions. What would help you be fully present this spring? Spot where you are. See what needs your attention. Skip what weighs you down. Savor what nourishes you. #112- The World Doesn't Need More Trophies: (But Cake Helps)
Graduation season has me wondering how on earth you summarize 17 years of life with a few photos and maybe a trophy or two. (Except… we don’t really have trophies.) And honestly? That might be the point. In this 2nd birthday episode of Glordinary, I’m celebrating two years of shaky yeses, small beginnings, and unseen wins — the kind nobody hands out medals for. Because the world doesn’t need more trophies. It needs more Truth. So grab your coffee. Maybe grab some cake. And let’s celebrate ordinary lives that are quietly, beautifully faithful — one yes at a time. www.glordinary.com You can find Glordinary, Inc. as a charity on Venmo, Paypal or find me on our website: www.glordinary.com for any other method of giving. #111- You Weren't Built For Darkness: Why We Need The Word More Than Ever
Michigan winters. Seasonal depression. A surprising conversation with my doctor. And one statement I can’t stop thinking about: “We weren’t built for the darkness. We were made for the light.” In this final episode of our Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word series, we’re talking about why Scripture matters — not just to read it, but to know it. Deeply. Repeatedly. Personally. Because the less time we spend in the Light, the easier it is to believe the darkness. Friend, you weren’t built for that. And neither was I. Let’s talk about how to read it well — and why it changes everything. Grab your coffee and step into the Light with Episode 111. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "God knows a thing or two about how to bring Light to dark places." #110- Faith In Repetition: You Become What You Repeat
What if the only Scripture you truly knew was the part you’ve memorized? In this episode, we dive into why repetition matters, how Scripture on loop shapes your faith, and how the routines we build today carry us into tomorrow. Join me as we hear wisdom from Kevin, a retired Green Beret and longtime friend, and explore how intentional training in God’s Word helps us reflect, grow, and live faithfully. Because what you repeat… you become. www.glordinary.com You can now find Glordinary, Inc. as a charity on Venmo or PayPal, or find me on our website: www.glordinary.com for any other method of giving. #109- Bananas To Breakthrough: Applying the Word in Real Life
What do you do with the bananas stories in Scripture? You know… the ones with deception, family drama, and choices that make you go, “Um, what is happening here?” In Episode 109, we’re moving from just reading the Word… to actually applying it. I’m sharing three simple questions that can change the way you walk away from your Bible time. Because the goal isn’t perfection. It’s reflection. Grab your coffee, Friend. We’re going from bananas to breakthrough. www.glordinary.com You can now find Glordinary, Inc. as a charity on Venmo or PayPal, or find me on our website: www.glordinary.com for any other method of giving. #108 Walk Through The Word: Why Genre Changes How We Read The Bible
Not every trail is the same—and not every book of the Bible is either. In this episode, we lace up our boots and hike through the major genres of Scripture—narrative, law, wisdom, poetry, prophecy, the Gospels, epistles, and apocalyptic—to see why knowing the type of text changes how we read it. Because genre doesn’t change God’s truth; it helps us understand how that truth is communicated. Grab your trail map and let’s walk through the Word together—minus the blisters, of course. www.glordinary.com Here's a small excerpt: "We need to know the kind of book, what genre, we’re reading to know how to approach it. Are we supposed to take this verse literally? Wait, does this apply to me? Please tell me Revelation isn’t actually gonna bring horses and a sword comin’ out the Rider's mouth! For real? Yeah, knowing the type of book changes how we read it." #107- The Wild, Wild West of Interpretation: When Anything Goes, Goes Wrong
Ever feel like the Word turns into the Wild, Wild West? Me too. But when it comes to Bible interpretation, it’s not “anything goes.” In this episode, we talk about why Scripture can’t mean whatever we want it to mean. Join me as we unpack hermeneutics in plain language and avoid common interpretation pitfalls. Grab a coffee, saddle up, and let’s tame the chaos. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Because the goal of quality hermeneutics is to get down to the plain meaning. Quality interpretation isn’t meant to be one-of-a-kind. There are no points here for creativity and uniqueness. Usually if someone’s touting a “hidden gem” or “secret insight” about the Word, that’s a pretty easy tell that it’s off somewhere...or maybe a snake oil salesman. We’re looking to make good sense of the text, as in common sense." #106- Same Beans, Different Brew: Why Bible Translations Matter
When it comes to coffee, you've got options. And when it comes to Bible translations, you've got options too, my Friend. Join me as we talk through some translation tools to enhance the flavor of your daily reading. Episode 105 lays the groundwork as we continue in our series: Gets My Goat: How To Actually Read the Word. www.glordinary.com Here's a small excerpt: "But it’s never about trying harder. It’s about training; it’s about curating a life. A life that celebrates His glory and champions the ordinary. Celebrates the ways He’s revealing Himself in the most ordinary places of my life…right on my couch, in my pajamas, with a cup of mostly decaf, black coffee. Because the Word is so much more than just bridging the gap between the original language and my language."

#105- Every Day You Need A Q-TIP: The Best Tools
Having the right tools for the job is apparently pretty important. Or, that’s what my husband tells me every time he buys a new tool. And apparently the right tools for reading the Word are pretty important too. So, join me as we keep the conversation going in our series, Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word. Grab yourself somethin’ hot and let’s chat about it. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "It’s been almost 25 years now, but I still remember that every day I need a Q-Tip…a quiet time in His Presence to clean out my ears from the noise of this world, that I can hear what God’s revealing. To get out the gunk, the buildup of culture’s lies that stick all too easily, like a waxy film over my mind. To clean those unseen places hidden deep within…because every day you need a Q-Tip…a quiet time in His presence, to hear what God’s revealing." #104- I Know the Couch I Have for You: Good & Not-So-Good Exegesis
Ready for a bonus episode? Me too! I just couldn't leave you hanging in our series, Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word. Yesterday, we talked about exegesis. That's E-X-E-G-E-S-I-S! (Jon said I should've spelled it, and he was right! Boy, did I get the questions. "Stace, what word are you saying?" I hear ya!) So, let's get after it and start with some sound exegesis on a fan-favorite verse of so many. Come exegete Jeremiah 29:11 with me.

#103- Here's the Backstory: Because Context Matters
Ever hear something and think, “There’s gotta be more to that story?” Yep, gather round, Friend. We’ll keep rolling with our series, Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word. So, grab that hot cocoa and hunker down for TWO episodes this week. We’ve got a lot to talk about today, starting with some good ol' exegesis. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "So, how do you read the Word? No, I’m asking. How do you actually read the Word? How do I? Because many, if not most, let’s just safely assume basically all of us read Scripture one way. Hermeneutically. What does it mean to me today, right now, on a Wednesday? We read a verse, maybe a chapter, and see what sticks. All the other parts? Meh, they just kinda fall by the wayside that day. Tell me I’m wrong. I’m not wrong on this one." BONUS REPLAY- Is God Small Enough? : When Our Perspectives Differ
It's -6 degrees today! Warm up with a replay episode and cup of Joe. We don’t do small very well. Small tends to mean insignificant or “less than.” And bigger is better, right? Maybe. Or maybe God’s perspective is a little bit different than ours. Maybe God cherishes the small. Dare I say, prefers the small. Sure, God’s “big enough,” but is He “small enough” too? Is it okay to say that? Yes, yes it is. So, let’s chat about when God’s perspective differs from ours, and why that’s a very good thing! We’ll take a big look into 2 Samuel 22:36. glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Like an attentive parent, He stoops down to hear your stories, your heartaches, kiss your boo-boos and scoop you up. Because only a big God could choose to be small enough to stoop down to make you great, to make me great.”

#102- When You Kinda Know But Kinda Don't
You know when someone asks you a question and you can’t come up with the answer? Like, you know the answer but you just can’t quite articulate it? Yep, welcome to today’s episode. Join me for the first stop on our new series: Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Let’s start with some broad strokes. You know how I always start our conversation by saying, “This is Glordinary…a few moments where we celebrate God’s Glory and champion the ordinary.” But I never really define God’s Glory. We’ll chalk that one up to a podcasting rookie mistake. I like to describe God’s Glory as God revealing Himself. And the Bible is God revealing Himself. Because God is always revealing Himself." #101- Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word
Are you bugged today? Maybe it’s work. Maybe it’s the person who cut you off on the highway. Maybe it’s the way someone you love chews…or breathes. I get it. What are the things that annoy you? Join me for a longer look at our next series. We’ll peek at one of my top-dog annoyances and spend the next several weeks on how to remedy that. Grab your coffee and let’s chat with our new series: Gets My Goat: How to Actually Read the Word www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "And as much as the fake Bible verses, the out-of-context, and the weaponized verses get my goat, it’s really not about that. It’s about how you actually read the Word, how I actually read the Word. How we engage with it. Because we can’t make God’s Word say something it never said." BONUS REPLAY! You, Me, or Bad Pizza: Discerning God's Voice
Does God go radio silent right when you need to hear Him most? Ever feel like life's extra noisy when you’re trying to zero in on that "still small voice"? Yep, been there. Let’s chat about how we can hear God’s voice. Is He even speaking in the first place? What if I'm missing it completely? We’ll take a cue from John 10 on how to discern God’s voice for our lives. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “You do know us, Lord…every desire, every fear, every thought, every decision, every crossroads. He knows. And after 45 years on this earth, my confidence is growing…yes, in my ability to hear but more so in my assurance that He speaks in a way I know how to hear.” PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? BONUS REPLAY! Breathe In, Breathe Out: You're Going To Be Okay
Life is BUSY...and beautiful, and hard, and amazing, and complicated! (sigh) We’re inundated with places to be, things to do, gifts to buy, cookies to swap, and don’t forget to drink at least 8 cups of water per day. Add in the rest of regular life, and it’s a recipe for breakdown- physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Let’s chat about it as we take a deep, cleansing breath for the soul with Psalm 23:5- “You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “As we inhale, we can offer a short prayer. Breathe in. “God, I can’t handle this!” Breathe out. “Make haste to help me.” Interestingly enough, that’s actually called a breath prayer. Just as the shepherd’s oil brings instant relief to the sheep, the Holy Spirit’s Presence calms us amidst the nasal flies of this life.” PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? BONUS REPLAY! Are We There Yet? : Walking Through The Darkest Valley
“Are we there yet?” That blessed, universal question every parent loves to hear 23 minutes into a 600-mile road trip. It’s gonna be a long day, friends! Yep, we’ve reached the halfway point of our series, “It’s a Psalm 23-Kinda Day.” And, well…it’s about to take a turn. Join me as we round the bend into a deeper (and darker) part of our Psalm 23 journey. Yet, the deeper the valley, the deeper the relationship can build. May Psalm 23:4 bring comfort as I share a glimpse into my “valley of the shadow of death." Valleys aren’t usually our favorite part of the journey. Let’s walk it together. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Friend, for nine months, I walked THROUGH the valley, until I walked out. I didn’t walk out with a son, but I did walk out with something else… my bedrock belief that He.is.good. It’s why I so readily refer to Him as the Good Shepherd because the depth of my relationship with Christ was forged in the depth of that valley.” PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? Ever having an off-week? Where life seems to hit you sideways and everything just feels extra: extra scary, extra hard, extra frustrating, extra empty. Me too. (And yes, that’s a lot of extra’s!) Sounds like the perfect time to lean into our series, “It’s A Psalm 23-Kinda Day.” Join me as we peek into all life’s extra’s with verse 2, “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” Grab your coffee and settle in for a moment of extra encouragement. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “He makes me lie down in green pastures, even maketh me sometimes. We might need a “maketh me” moment, and that’s okay.” PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? BONUS REPLAY! Don't You Care? : Dealing With Life's Distractions
Ever feel like no matter how hard you're trying, you just seem to come up short? There's always one.more.thing. Oh, and you probably need to drink more water too. I hear ya. Know you're not alone in your to-do's and distractions as Stacy offers some Luke 10 encouragement from Mary and Martha. Spoiler-alert: She's Team Martha. www.glordinary.com "Interestingly, the original Greek word here means “dragging around all that is distracting.” Yep, that pretty much defines me. I’m guessing it may define you too. Dragging around your distractions: your priorities, your jobs, your worries. Oh, man, can I relate to this image. Like a ball and chain, I sure can drag around my distractions like a profession." PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? BONUS REPLAY! Say That: Why Your Voice Matters
Ever feel insecure and more than a little terrified for the next chapter in your story? Find out why your voice matters more than you know. You're in good company as Stacy invites courage from Luke's Gospel. www.glordinary.com "The reasons Luke shouldn’t have written a Gospel tell us far less about Luke and far more about God...and His invitation. Luke wasn’t one of the inner 12 that had instant credibility. He wasn’t even Jewish. Okay. But that alone tells us so.much.more about God the Father. God did not discount Luke based on what he lacked." PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? #100- Keep the Conversation Going: 100 Episodes Deep
There’s just something exciting about turning 100, which I’m not. But I’m super excited about Glordinary’s 100th episode! (Read to the end for ways to help celebrate!) Let’s celebrate together with a good cup of coffee and a look at Psalm 100. Plus, we’ll take a peek at where we’ve been and where Glordinary’s going. Let’s continue to celebrate God’s Glory and champion the ordinary for another 100 episodes. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Because for 100 conversations, God continues to show me He’s good, that His love for me, His love for you, continues. That He’s FOR us, not leaving us. That He is faithfully walking alongside of us. That He is the actual one saying, “You’re not alone in this. I’m praying for you, Friend. Have a Glordinary Day!” PS- If you’d like to help keep the conversation going, would you consider “buying a cup of coffee” for a Glordinary episode or two…or each month? BONUS REPLAY! Prioritizing The Three R's: Right Things, Right Way, Right Time
Need a little pick-me-up for the first Monday of 2026? Here's the first episode from 2025 to help keep you going. See you Wednesday for our 100th episode! Starting strong is easy for some people. For others? Well, maybe your “get up and go,” got up and went. Wherever you fall on the spectrum of new beginnings, let’s grab a cup of coffee together. We’ll chat about prioritizing our lives the best way possible. New year, age-old wisdom from 2 Chronicles 29. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Because Friend, sometimes, in order to start the right things, in the right way, at the right time, we have to undo a thing or two. We have to open some doors that’ve been closed a long time. We’ve got to make some repairs. Sometimes we need to unlearn some things…even some things that maybe seemed helpful, convenient, or “right” at the time.”

#99- Word of the Year...Still Nope: Reflections Over Resolutions
Do you kind of lose track of the days between Christmas and New Year’s? I know, me too! Yet, this is the exact moment in time most influential leaders implore us to make critical life declarations. The infamous “Word of the Year” or New Year’s Resolutions racket. Look, I decided a long time ago I was not a “Word of the Year” kind of girl. Too much pressure. And resolutions? They’re often hopeful but not always helpful. Instead, I take a few moments and prayerfully ponder some reflection questions as we turn the calendar page. I’m inviting you to join me with your own reflections. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “These questions, or a combination thereof, become bookends as I say hello and goodbye to the changing year. Reflecting on the helpful, the distracting, the celebrations, the mundane, and the pending keeps me living the Glordinary life of one foot in front of the other. Glimpsing His Glory in the ordinary.” Reflection Questions: Where did God seem most present to me this year? Where did He seem absent? (PS…This one isn’t a trick question. He’s not absent, but naming the spots I *think* He’s absent is a helpful starting point for a future conversation with Him.) What worked well this year? What didn’t work well? When did I feel most alive, most like myself? What left me feeling drained and depleted? What am I grateful I made time for this year? What am I proud of this year? What question or desire am I still holding? Where am I hopeful to see God at work next year? Bonus Questions: What do I need more/less of this coming year? Where did my confidence grow/fade? Who did I learn most from? What was my best yes, best no? What was a pivotal decision made in 2025? ***Questions are a sampling of ones I've collected from authors, such as: Emily P. Freeman, Sarah Mackenzie, and Joshua Becker.

#97- Love Lasts: (Even When Hallmark Doesn't)
Congratulations! You made it. Christmas is here. Yet, before we say goodbye to our Advent Remembers series, let’s share in one last conversation before the wrapping paper goes flying. Unwrap our final Advent episode as we focus on everlasting love. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "You see for all the beauty of olam, this everlasting love, do you know why the words were penned in Jeremiah 31:3? Because the relationship was basically dead- over, and there aren’t a lot of Hallmark movies ending that way." PS- Be sure to join me Thursday morning, bright and early, for a special Christmas reading. Merry Christmas, Friend!

#96- Joy Treats: Finding Joy Amidst Junk
Did you know “holy day” is where we derive our word for holiday? I’m thinking December didn’t get the memo. With all the hustle and bustle, the Christmas season can feel way more hustle than holy. I’ve got an idea. Let’s warm up together with another conversation in our Advent Remembers series. We’ll chat about joy in all the seasons, even Christmas. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "They have no more wine. They have no more joy. So, what was supposed to be the happiest day (uh, week) of their lives is about to get… real bad. Honeymoon’s over before we even got there. They have no.more.joy. Ever been there? There now? Yeah, I get that.”

#95- Peace Rules: Setting & Resetting Your Mind
We’re in the thick of it now! December! Phew, brace yourself. My car said it was -3 degrees today, and that’s…well, that’s not making my weary world rejoice. But our Advent Remembers series is. So join me to chat about peace. Let’s warm our souls and thaw our toes together. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "It’s searching your heart, your thoughts, dividing between soul and spirit. In the messy places, you’re finding a treasure trove of His word under the “couch cushions” of your life. The stuffed “closets” of your mind start overflowing with Christ-like thoughts and actions, clearly not of your own. I’ve heard it said that the peace of Christ rules, where the word of Christ dwells."

#94- Hope Floats: Finding Hope When All Feels Lost
The holidays are here! Bring on the extra. The extra goodies, gifts, and a little bit of the “Grinch-ies” too! It’s a lot, right? Stick with me as we start our new series: Advent Remembers with a tricky little topic called Hope. It can feel like a life-line...or a swear word some days. So, let's chat. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “But situations often seem hope-less, definitely not hope-full, and trying to stay hopeful is wearying. Hope is kind of its own animal, running parallel often times with grief. It can sting extra hard during those “magical” seasons. There’s a reason Elvis croons out “Blue Christmas”. And for some of us, it is, or certainly feels, like a Blue Christmas. But Romans 15:13 assures us that God is a God of Hope. And God’s really good at sharing. So, is it true? Does Hope Float?”

#93- God Includes Everyone: When All Roads Don't Lead To God
I never thought I’d be gardening the end of November…in Michigan. Yet, here we are. Oh, not that type of gardening. Genesis 3, Garden of Eden, gardening. I never thought we’d be in Genesis 3 for the last couple months. But I’m not hating it. Per usual though, I could do without the snake. Gross. But it’s time. Time to wrap up our series “Did God Really Say?” We’ve disentangled those sneaky, subtle lies that ol’ serpent’s been slithering into our thoughts, behaviors, and theology. So, let’s finish with one last whopper. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “God invites any and every one back because the Gospel is the most inclusive invitation you could find. He set the table. There’s a place setting just for you and just for me. But that does not mean any and every one accept that invite. Some will say yes, and many will say no. That is their decision, and as painful as that is, God will honor that decision.”

#92- Thou Shalt Not Judge: Well...Yes and No
Are you ready for a fun one? We’re almost to the end of our series: Did God Really Say? And oh man, did I save a good one for us! “Judge not, lest ye be judged.” Come on, who doesn’t love a good finger-pointing? (Eye roll!) Culture tells us if we hold to any kind of Biblical Truth, we’re judgmental bigots. And when we mess up (which we always do!), we’re hypocritical frauds. So, is there a place for judgement? Or is it really, “Who am I to judge?” Let’s untangle this doozy together. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “And what does God do? Yell? Drop his face in disappointment? Shake his fist with frustration? No. God invites them into conversation. God talks with them- not to them, with them. God invites them in, closer- into conversation, into dialogue with him.”

#91- Love=Acceptance: That Math Ain't Mathin'
Well, it happened. I was baking some sourdough pumpkin cinnamon rolls this weekend, and I botched them up. I didn’t take the time to read all 5,623 steps, and I started at the wrong spot. Apparently, starting points are pretty important. And that’s what we’ll chat about in this episode of our series: Did God Really Say? Let’s tackle another whopper of a tale that tricks us into believing: Love=Acceptance. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “You see, when the starting place is love=acceptance, anything less than total acceptance can’t be love. Yet, that logic is inconsistent. If I don’t accept this starting place, the only way to agree is for me to change. But I thought, “If you want to change me, you don’t actually love me.” See what I mean? We just go round and round. So, there must be another way. There is.”

#90- Follow Your Heart: Um, Please No
Ready to keep rolling in our series: Did God Really Say? Me too! We’ll pull back the curtain on yet another one of Ol’ Snake Eyes’ favorites. Yep, it’s slithered into every section of our lives, encouraging us to trust any and every fleeting feeling. Wow! What could possibly go wrong with such stellar advice? Get cozy and comfy as we chat through the latest lie to "Follow Your Heart." www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Our hearts can be so easily tricked, so easily swayed. After all, the fruit looked good, felt right, and seemed like wisdom. “Follow your heart. Trust your gut. It’ll never lie to you.” Oh, but Friend, it lies to us all.the.time. And we don’t just wake up here one day. No, it slithers in moment-by-moment, reel-by-reel.”

#89- God Wants Me To Be Happy: Yes-ish
Michigan’s officially broken up with summer, and we’re back to hoodies and sock-hats. I’m not mad about that. Fall is my favorite season; it just makes me happy…until it doesn’t. Happiness is pretty fickle. We’re happy…until we’re not. So, let’s talk about all things happy. Even Bob Ross would like this one with his “happy little trees.” We’ll check out the latest lie in our series: Did God Really Say? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Because the lie isn’t really “God just wants me to be happy.” The lie is actually about God’s character, His intention toward me, and His plan for who He made me to be- which is a reflection of God, not to be god.”

#88- God Helps Those Who Help Themselves: Not Exactly, Mr. Franklin
I love helping others, especially if that means dropping off some homemade soup or donuts. Reverse the roles? Not so much. Many of us (ahem, basically ALL of us) would much prefer to be the helper than the helped. Whether that’s helping out someone in need or just fixing our own mess, we DO NOT, no-way-no-how enjoy asking for help. So, we don’t…because we’ve bought into another lie from Genesis 3. Grab your coffee and let’s tackle the next sneaky, little lie in our series: Did God Really Say? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “They immediately start helping. Helping themselves, because God helps those who help themselves, right? Nope. Not only is that idea never found in Scripture, thank you Ben Franklin who wrote it in Poor Richard’s Almanac, but the concept isn’t even Biblical. God helps those who are helpless to help themselves.”

#87- You Are Enough: Nope!
How’s your week going? Nailin’ it? Nope, me neither. But even if you are meeting and beating your goals, it never feels enough, right? Because it’s not….because we’re not. Not what? Not enough. And that’s good news, honest. It’s true. Our “enoughness” ended the moment we ate the fruit in Genesis 3. And now, well, no matter how hard we try, we’ll never sew enough fig leaves to cover our “not-enoughness.” And some things take a little more than positive self-talk and daily affirmations. So, let’s tackle another sneaky, little lie in our series: Did God Really Say? You Are Enough: Nope! www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “I can’t say enough positive affirmations, love myself first, or manifest my supreme future. It will not work because I.am.not.enough, and neither are you. There are no amount of fig leaves to cover up what was ultimately uncovered that day in the Garden. Christ is the covering, once and for all. And that’s the good news.”
