Looking in the mirror of God’s word - 2026/05/12
By what Standard are we to judge ourselves as Christians? If it is according to the standards of the world then we might see ourselves as meriting a high score on the good and righteous scale, especially in comparison to our degenerate neighbors, immoral coworkers and the criminals which walk the streets. Christians however will not be evaluated by world standards but by a much higher standard, that is God’s standard. The measure by which we will be evaluated when we stand before the Lord will be according to his word. The bible serves as a mirror into the soul of the believer by which we can correctly identify and correct deficiencies in our Christian lives in order that we might walk righteously before God..

The Righteousness of God and the Implanted Word
This lesson explains that human effort and anger can never produce God’s righteousness, because all people fall short of His perfect standard. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can a sinner be justified and made right before God. From that foundation, believers are called to live in a way that reflects the righteousness they have received by laying aside sin, receiving God’s Word with humility, and growing in obedience as He sanctifies their lives.

First Fruits and a Faithful Response to the Word

The Nature of Lust and Its Consequences
James 1:15 confronts believers with a clear and sobering truth: sin does not occur suddenly, but follows a predictable and destructive progression that begins with unchecked desire. In this passage, James exposes how temptation appeals to the heart, how lust crosses God’s boundaries, and how sin—when allowed to mature—results in spiritual death and divine discipline. This study examines the nature of temptation, the believer’s responsibility to remain in the light, and the contrast between the path of death and the lifegiving wisdom that comes from God above. By understanding this progression and God’s unchanging character, believers are urged to guard their spiritual priorities and walk in obedience and fellowship with Him.

Deuteronomy; Importance of the Blood
We are going to be in Deuteronomy chapter 12. The first eleven chapters of Deuteronomy have mainly served as an introduction, preparing the Israelites to enter the promised land and to begin life without Moses. These chapters have focused on history and preparation, and up to this point, only the Ten Commandments have been covered. Now, in chapter twelve, we transition to specific commandments and statutes that the Israelites must follow in the promised land. These first two commandments, although surprising, are chosen for a reason that may not be immediately obvious to us.

The Nature of Temptation and God's Role
God does not tempt anyone to sin or set believers up for failure; temptation arises from Satan, the world system, and our own fallen desires, and each person remains fully accountable for how they exercise volition—resisting temptation to maintain fellowship with God or yielding to it and stepping into sin.

Deuteronomy Chapter 11: The Conclusion of Moses’ Introduction
Deuteronomy chapter 11 marks the end of the extended introduction that Moses has been delivering to the Israelites. Up until this point, the text has not focused heavily on specific laws or statutes. Instead, Moses has been preparing the people to understand why they must follow God’s commandments. This chapter serves as a recap, summarizing the expectations and principles already discussed in Deuteronomy. Essentially, it is the final section explaining why the Israelites are called to obey the law.

Righteous Perseverance
The first chapter of James addresses the theme of suffering among Christians. Specifically, it focuses on Jewish individuals who had converted to Christianity and were experiencing various trials and tribulations. The Nature of Trials and Tribulations Believers in Christ often face challenges that test their faith. These trials are not simply obstacles but opportunities for spiritual growth. The expectation is that Christians endure these hardships in a way that reflects their commitment to biblical doctrine. Suffering Well as a Believer To "suffer well" means to apply the teachings of the Bible, maintaining a consistent walk with the Lord even when under pressure. Instead of responding to difficulties by assigning blame, the believer is encouraged to recognize God's goodness throughout the experience. Recognizing God's Goodness It is important for Christians to understand that suffering does not originate from God. Rather than viewing trials as a punishment or a sign of God's displeasure, believers are called to trust in God's inherent goodness and remain steadfast in their faith.

the Lett of James; for Richer or poorer - 2026/04/05
Whatever his social or economic position, the believer must see eternal advantages. The brother in humble circumstances can be glad in his high standing spiritually, and the one who is rich can be glad for his human frailty (knowing that he has “eternal glory” in Christ, 2 Cor. 4:17). Social prominence passes away, wealth withers away like a wild flower in the hot sun, and fame will fade. Hope in the eternal is evidence of believing faith.

3 john Lesson 2 - the witness of Gaius
Beware of religions that seek to remove Christ from the gospel and replace Him with works. When John the Baptist said that he (Christ)must increase and I (John) must decrease, work-based salvation seeks to remove Christ and increase the merits of the worker.

3 john Lesson 1 - 2026/03/12
A believer somewhere, was actively engaged with the work of the Lord. He was might have been caring for the widows and the orphans, teaching in some capacity, Praying, taking in the word of God and being a faithful slave to the Lord Jesus Christ whom he looks forward to meeting one day. And then one day, he is handed a letter from and elder, the Apostle John. A letter out of the blue which he did not expect but one in which he would keep, read again and again and it would help to give him encouragement when times would get hard for him as a Christian. His name is Gaius

2 John Lesson 15 - 2026/03/10
The teaching of Christ is Absolute doctrine. While there may be theological disagreements by which learners of the bible may have long arduous debates over, there are those hills that one must be willing to die upon. Those things about God and his plan of Salvation which if distorted may leave a person damned in his sins. The teachings of or about Christ are emphatic, true, solid and without ambiguity. The teaching about Christ are as they should be simple and are clearly understood. Point of Doctrine: Get Christ wrong; there is no salvation.
