Today marked the final day of birthing services bat the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe. While the Mersey will still provide prenatal and antenatal services, all births will now take place at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie. Changes to maternity services on the North-West Coast will take effect from Monday with maternity services being centralised at the North-West Regional Hospital in Burnie. However, antenatal services will still be provided at the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe. Martin Agatyn spoke to co-director of Maternity and Midwifery Services Mandy Compton about the changes and also reflected on some of the history of maternity services in the Mersey region . . .

More than 4000 cyclists, many of them from interstate, will tackle a torturous 230km bike ride on the North-West on Sunday. The event start and finish at Devonport, and includes some horrendous climbs, including Cethana and Cradle Mountain. The event is being organised by the Bicycle Network and Martin Agatyn spoke to the Bicycle Network general manager of events, Rebecca Lane . . .
