    Selfishness of the human

Hi all, how is your day going? I really hope it’s going well….Welcome to “In the light of His Word”....our topic today is “selfishness of the human”..... are you selfish?A thought provoking conversation, to challenge, not to condemn or point fingers but to rethink, reassess…our current standpoints. If you’ve not been able to sit and study the Bible alone, join me…let’s do it together while studying today’s topic… grab your Bible, invite the Holy Spirit, get some popcorn, a notepad, pen/pencil and let the session begin…. Few things looked at on today's topics are:Selfless acts of GodSome selfish acts of human:Adherence to clear instruction - discontentmentConsumption level - generosityFear of God v fear of man Lying tongueJealousy, envy and self-seekingTime - delayed obedience, procrastinationFruit of the flesh/spiritFailure to grow, temple of ChristDuty of careImpatient, self-preservationHolding grudges and still wanting/demanding answered prayersMinute 35 - think I meant to say Jonathan here, not Jacob..Few questions that came up during the session:In relation to the “I chose me” mindset, do you agree that it can sometimes be a selfish act? What does humility mean to you?Proverbs 18:1 - the translation in KJV (“Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.”) seems to defer from others like NLT, NKJV (“A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.”) — KJV seems to relate separating one’s self for a period to gain wisdom…whereas NKJV associates this isolation as a selfish desire…what do we think? What do you think, was Adam right next to Eve? Could she have eaten the fruit alone and not “share” it?In relation to Naboth, do you think he could have dealt with the situation differently, could wisdom have been applied, therefore saving his life?Making decisions from a standpoint of fear, have you done this before? How have you overcome operating from fear and anxiety to operating out of love and trust in God?Is your eyes evil because I am good (I have done what is fair, by my good judgment)? Phillipians 2: 5-115 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ isLord, to the glory of God the Father.
