Inner Compass
by Kristen Morris, Leilani Numbers, Michell Powers
Welcome to the Inner Compass Podcast. The process of creating this podcast allowed for us to more deeply heal and alchemize our experiences, and the wounding that came from a life within a high demand religion (the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints / Mormonism). This is a true offering from our hearts, and an honoring of our lived experience. From the time we were children we were conditioned to outsource our own authority and intuition to the men who presided over us. We were taught the value of free agency and personal revelation, but only if it matched the church’s teachings. This left us disempowered and disconnected from our own innate knowing and power. We were taught that obedience is the crowning virtue. This left us vulnerable to manipulation and control in relationships and from our priesthood authorities. Rising From The Ashes
From the time we were children, we were conditioned that our priesthood leaders were there to guide us & had authority over us. We were taught the value of our free agency and personal revelation, but only if it fit within the confines of the church & its priesthood leaders revelation & guidance they received for us. This left us feeling disempowered, confused and disconnected from our own innate, inner knowing and personal power. Eventually the confusion and heartache was too much to bear. Our own intuitive guidance was not lining up with our priesthood leaders beliefs, doctrines & personal revelation about our personal life . Our priesthood leaders felt justified in their belief & actions in their authority & stewardship over us. Asking us to “align with the brethren & stop sharing messages from deceased loved ones” among several other things they disapproved of. This led to our faith crisis, then our faith expansion beyond The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We each went through the daunting yet liberating process of unraveling a lifelong belief system! When our own inner compass was saying one thing and the church leaders were saying another, which did we choose to follow? For us, the choice was finally clear! Introduction
Welcome to the Inner Compass Podcast. This podcast is an offering from our hearts! Throughout the first several episodes we will be sharing what we experienced growing up in a high demand religion and what it was like raising our children and becoming close friends and mothers in Mormonism for over 15 years. Each one of us experienced our own personal awakening and faith expansion. Much of that journey we experienced together as we helped each other navigate a very difficult journey. We also look forward to having future guests join us to share their stories of following their own inner compass. We truly believe there is a story inside us all that needs to be shared.Stay connected with us on Instagram: @kristencarol5 @mothertree_reiki @leilaninumbers @michellpowers
