InSight Out

Think, See, and Live Differently. As God reveals His truth and removes the blinders that keep us from seeing clearly, He calls us not only to reflect on these truths when we rise, when we lie down, and in all we do, but by His Spirit to proclaim the gospel and live in faithful obedience in every area of life.Faith In Everything. As Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Faith transforms us from the inside out. As the gospel we proclaim takes root, it changes how we see ourselves, others, and the world. And it becomes evident in what we think, what we say, and what we do.This is more than a podcast; it’s a way of life. A call to see life InSight Out; to live as we were created to live, to flourish as God intends, and to build our lives on the unshakable foundation of His Word. Because

Privacy in a Public World | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 214

You can now blur your home on Google Maps for added privacy. It’s a simple feature—but it taps into something bigger. We live in a world where we want protection… but also post everything online. What Happened to Basic Life Skills? | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 213

From avoiding eye contact to bringing parents into interviews, some employers say younger candidates are struggling with basic workplace skills. It’s easy to point fingers, but maybe the better question is… how did we get here? Culture shapes behavior, and every generation is formed by what they’re taught—and what they’re not. So instead of just criticizing, what responsibility do we carry in shaping what comes next?Scripture (NIV): Proverbs 22:6 – “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”Reflection Questions:Where have you seen a shift in basic communication or responsibility? How can you model and pass down wisdom in everyday life?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. Instant Answers, Missing Connection | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 212

There’s an app now that can scan a coin and instantly tell you everything about it—its history, value, and significance. No research. No digging. Just quick answers. And while that’s convenient, it raises a deeper question… what are we losing when everything becomes instant? Not just in knowledge, but in our faith too. Are we seeking answers… or are we building a relationship? Because those aren’t always the same thing.Scripture (NIV): Jeremiah 29:13 – “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”Reflection Questions:Do you find yourself looking for quick answers instead of deeper understanding? What would it look like to slow down and pursue God more intentionally?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. When “More” Still Feels Empty | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 211

A celebrity shows off a home filled with luxury—rooms packed with things. But something feels off. For all the abundance, there’s a noticeable absence of what actually makes a home feel full. It’s a quiet reminder that you can surround yourself with everything and still feel like something’s missing. So what are we really chasing? And at what point do we realize that more doesn’t always mean better?Scripture (NIV): Ecclesiastes 5:10 – “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.”Reflection Questions:What are you currently chasing that might not actually satisfy? What truly fills your life in a lasting way?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. Dream Big, But Build Wisely | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 210

A woman goes viral for digging a tunnel beneath her home. It’s bold, creative, and honestly… a little concerning. It’s a reminder that just because we can do something doesn’t always mean we should. Ambition is powerful, but without wisdom, it can lead us somewhere we never intended to go. So how do we balance dreaming big with making wise decisions?Scripture (NIV): Proverbs 19:2 – “Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way!”Reflection Questions:Where in your life are you moving quickly without fully thinking it through? How can you invite God into your decision-making process?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. The Stroller That Drives Itself (And What That Says About Us) | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 194

For $3,300, a new self-driving stroller will navigate the sidewalk without anyone holding the handle — complete with smart braking and a "Find My Baby" feature for when the stroller gets away from you. It's being marketed as convenience. It raises a harder question.Deuteronomy 6 describes parenting as something done in motion — walking along the road, sitting at home, lying down and getting up. The command to impress God's word on children isn't a scheduled activity. It's a posture. This episode looks at what happens when that posture gets outsourced.Scripture (NIV): Deuteronomy 6:6-7 — "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."Reflection Questions: Where have you noticed technology quietly replacing something that used to require your presence?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. The Strawberry Solution We Didn’t See Coming | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 193

Some discoveries make perfect sense. Others sound like someone lost a dare in a lab. This one starts with strawberries, squid shells, and pomegranate peels and somehow ends with fruit that lasts twice as long.Researchers created an edible coating that helps strawberries stay fresh longer without changing how they look, smell, or taste. It’s strange, creative, and surprisingly practical. But maybe that’s the bigger point. What do we miss when we dismiss something too quickly just because it sounds unusual?Scripture (NIV): Isaiah 55:8 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.Reflection Questions:What’s something you’ve written off too quickly because it seemed too strange to be useful?Could God be inviting you to stay open to wisdom that doesn’t arrive the way you expected?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. You’ll Never Guess What This Toilet Paper Used to Be | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 192

There are just some things we assume should never be recycled.Greasy pizza boxes. Plastic bags. Used napkins. But there’s one item on that list that’s getting a second life.A new product in Japan is turning used diapers into toilet paper. Yes, really. Through an intense process of sterilizing, deodorizing, and transforming the material, it’s being reintroduced as something entirely new. And fresh. What if the things we’re quick to throw away still have value we can’t yet see?Scripture (NIV):2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”Reflection Questions:What have you written off in your life as “past its purpose”?And what if God sees it differently?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page: We'd love to hear your thoughts. Heart rhythms. Brain signals. Even subtle movements. It’s all being interpreted into insight about your future health. But here’s the real question…is more information always better?Scripture (NIV):Matthew 6:27 – “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”Reflection Questions: If you could know what your body is predicting about your future… would you want to know? She Fed the Homeless. Then They Arrested Her. | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 190

Norma Thornton is 78 years old, cooks her own food, and has spent four years feeding the homeless at a local park in Arizona. Now she's facing arrest for it. A city ordinance requires a permit — one that's only valid one day a month and demands a commercial kitchen.A volunteer attorney has taken her case. But the bigger question this episode raises is what happens when the machinery of bureaucracy turns toward the people simply trying to do good.Scripture (NIV): Galatians 6:9 — "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."Reflection Questions: Have you ever hit a wall trying to do something you knew was right? What No Rehab Could Do, God Did | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 189

Some transformations aren’t gradual. They’re undeniable.A man goes from homelessness and addiction to a completely changed life. Not through strategy or self-improvement, but through a moment he describes as being “grabbed” by God.It raises an important question. What actually changes a person?Because real transformation doesn’t just adjust behavior. It creates something entirely new.Scripture (NIV):2 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”Reflection Questions:What does real transformation look like in my life?Am I trying to change outward behavior… or allowing God to change me from within?Do I believe true change is possible?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page:We'd love to hear your thoughts. A Cleft Lip and a God Wink | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 188

Some moments feel too specific to be coincidence.A puppy born with a cleft lip. A young girl with the same condition. A family that wasn’t even planning to adopt. And yet, somehow, everything aligned. It’s easy to overlook moments like this. But sometimes, what looks random is anything but. There are details being worked out that we don’t always see in real time.Scripture (NIV):Psalm 68:6 — “God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.”Reflection Questions:Where have I seen unexpected connections in my life?Am I paying attention to the small details God might be arranging? What would it look like to trust that God is working behind the scenes?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page:We'd love to hear your thoughts. They Can’t Turn the Lights Off | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 187

Technology works… until it doesn’t.A Massachusetts high school has spent nearly two years with thousands of lights running nonstop. The system was designed to save energy, but when it failed, there was no manual override. No switch. No off button. Just constant light. It’s a strange picture. But maybe a meaningful one.Because even when systems fail, plans break, and things don’t go the way we expected, light still has a way of showing up. Not always how we planned, but always present.Scripture (NIV):John 1:5 — “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”Reflection Questions:Where have things not gone according to plan in my life?Am I trying to control outcomes… or trusting God’s presence in the middle of it?What light might God be revealing in a situation that feels frustrating?👉 Join the conversation on the IOM FB Page:We'd love to hear your thoughts. What are you failing at right now — the thing you keep trying at but just can't seem to get right?I was at a basketball game and watched a kid miss shot after shot. He wasn't giving up — he just kept going. And I couldn't stop thinking about how we cheer the basket but nobody claps for the miss. But here's the thing: it's the miss that gets you to the basket. We’re talking about what failure actually produces in us, and why God may be less interested in your success rate than you think. I'll also share the story of a man who failed 5,126 times before building a six billion dollar company. Trying to Do Something Good Can Get You In Trouble | Anchor Points | Ep. 185

What would you do if doing something good actually got you in trouble?Would it change how you serve or strengthen your resolve? Most of us don’t live our lives worried about getting arrested. Maybe a speeding ticket at worst. But imagine being taken into custody for helping people in need. That’s exactly what happened to Norma Thornton, a 78-year-old grandmother from Arizona. For nearly four years, she’s been faithfully showing up to a local park, cooking meals herself and feeding the homeless. But recently, a city ordinance changed everything. Now, in order to serve food in that same park, she needs a permit. Not only that, the permit is costly, only valid one day per month, and comes with strict requirements like using a commercial kitchen.Sometimes an act of compassion can become a legal issue.Scripture (NIV):Galatians 6:9 – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever tried to help someone and it didn’t go the way you expected?Let’s talk about what it looks like to keep showing up—even when it’s hard. 👉 https://www.facebook.com/insightout.media/📩 Stay connected:Get weekly encouragement, faith-based insights, and behind-the-scenes content delivered straight to your inbox:👉 Subscribe here: https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

The Internet Won’t Let You Read Anymore | The InSight Out Show

The quiet corner of the internet, where you searched something, found an article, and actually read it — is closing down. At least it feels that way.Search engines have been quietly restructuring around video, AI-generated summaries, and paid placements. Studies now show nearly 60 percent of searches end without a single click. Users get a preview, a snippet, a short clip, and move on. The article never gets opened. The writer never gets read. What we're losing isn't just a preference for text. It's a certain kind of attention. The kind that lets you slow down, reread a sentence, sit with an idea. You’re Consuming Everything But Absorbing Nothing | The InSight Out Show

When was the last time you actually watched something without picking up your phone? And what does your attention say about your spiritual life?Something subtle but significant is happening in our culture. TV shows are no longer being written for fully engaged viewers. They are being written for distracted ones.Streaming platforms know we are only half paying attention. So writers are now being told to simplify storylines and spell everything out through dialogue. Characters literally say what is happening out loud, not because the story demands it, but because we are not really watching.Studies show the overwhelming majority of people are scrolling while watching TV. The screen is no longer the main thing. It has become background noise. But this is not just about entertainment. It reveals something deeper about how we live, how we focus, and even how we follow Jesus. If we are constantly distracted, constantly divided, constantly half-present…what does that mean for our faith?💬 Want to talk about it more?Do you find yourself watching TV while scrolling your phone? And where else in your life are you only half paying attention?Let’s talk about what it looks like to live fully present in a distracted world.👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here: https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Can People Tell You're Wearing Jesus? | The InSight Out Show

Apparently the fashion trend still holding on right now is clothes that look like nothing. No giant logos. No big brand names. No symbols across the chest saying, “Look what I bought.”Some of the most expensive clothing right now actually looks…kind of generic. There’s even an $800 baseball cap with no logo at all. If you saw it at the grocery store, you’d probably assume it came from a random rack next to the sunglasses. But that’s the point.Fashion experts are calling this trend “quiet luxury.” Instead of loud branding, the signal is subtle. Good materials. Simple design. Nothing flashy.Because once everyone started wearing the logos… the logos stopped meaning anything. So the signal changed. Now the idea is if someone recognizes what you’re wearing without the logo shouting across the room, then you’re part of the club. A quiet little nod that says, “Oh… you know too.”But it raises an interesting question about how we live.Humans are always searching for signals. Ways to stand out. Ways to belong. Ways to show people who we are.Which leads to a bigger question worth asking:Can people tell you're wearing Jesus?Your patience.Your kindness.Your humility.Your peace when life gets chaotic.Conversation Starter that I will post in my InSight Out Private FB Group:💬 Want to talk about it more? What are the signals people use today to show who they are or what they value? And what would it look like for someone to quietly notice Christ in your life?Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

The Most Exhausting Decade of Life? | The InSight Out Show

Are your 40s leaving you completely drained?Kids need rides.Parents need support.Work needs your attention. And somehow you're supposed to keep everything together…and still sleep. If you're in your 40s and feel like life is slightly falling apart, you're not imagining it. Researchers say this decade may actually be one of the most exhausting seasons of life. It’s the stage where everything seems to converge. Many people in their 40s are raising kids while also helping aging parents. It’s often called the “sandwich generation” because you're caring for people on both sides of life at the same time.Add work responsibilities, home responsibilities, and everyday logistics like sports practices, school events, and doctor appointments, and life can start to feel like one long car ride. For many families, it’s also the season where difficult conversations begin with parents. Health concerns, housing decisions, and future planning can bring a lot of emotional and mental weight. But there is another side to this season.Researchers say many people later report deeper satisfaction in life because of these years. The responsibilities may be heavy, but they often shape some of the most meaningful relationships and moments. And from a faith perspective, that reminder matters.God doesn’t waste seasons in our lives. Even the busy, exhausting ones. The middle of the chaos can still hold purpose, growth, and unexpected beauty. So if you're in that stage right now, hang in there. There are moments worth noticing. Even in the middle of the busy.

Anchor Points | Ep. 171 | Not Everything Is Yours to Wear

What’s something you keep trying to make work, even though it just doesn’t fit?Are you shrinking yourself to wear something that was never made for you?Devin shares a simple story about receiving a cozy sweater as a gift. It was thoughtful. It was nice. There was nothing wrong with it. It just did not fit right. She tried to make it work. How often do we do the same thing in life?We wear expectations that are not tailored to who God created us to be. We try to thrive in environments that feel forced. We convince ourselves that because something is good, impressive, or valued by others, it must be right for us.Scripture (NIV):Psalm 139:14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”There is nothing wrong with the sweater. But it may not be yours to wear.💬 Want to talk about it more?Is there something in your life that feels forced instead of freeing? Are you trying to live up to an expectation God never asked of you?Let’s talk about it. 👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here: https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Anchor Points | Ep. 170 | The Noise Is Stealing Your Peace and You Don’t Even Realize It

When was the last time you experienced real quiet? Not background TV quiet. Not scrolling-in-silence quiet.True, uninterrupted stillness.Casinos use constant sound to keep people engaged. Bells. Music. Celebration noises. No pauses. No rest. But what if we are living the same way in our own homes? In today’s Anchor Point, Devin reflects on how our daily soundscape has changed. From Alexa and Siri to text alerts, email banners, and game notifications, we are constantly absorbing stimulation. Even harsher examples show how continuous sound can disorient and wear a person down.So what is all this noise doing to our nervous systems? Why are we more restless, more on edge, more tired than ever?Scripture (NIV):John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”Jesus offers a different kind of peace. Not manufactured. Not noise-canceling.But cultivated in quiet and space made for Him.💬 Want to talk about it more?Where is most of the noise in your life coming from right now? What would it look like to reclaim even 10 minutes of intentional quiet each day?Let’s talk about becoming better gatekeepers of our attention.👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Anchor Points | Ep. 169 | Why Nothing in Your Life Feels Finished Right Now

What’s sitting in your life right now that feels… unfinished? And deeper still… does it feel like proof that you’re falling behind? We had a massive puzzle sitting on our dining room table for months. The edges came together quickly. Edges are manageable. They make sense. But the middle? A blur of similar colors and tiny shapes that all looked like they should fit, but didn’t.After a while, it just sat there…incomplete. Some seasons of life feel exactly like that middle section. The outline looks fine. The roles are filled. The routines are running. But internally, it feels messy. Unclear. Like pieces scattered with no obvious next step.Paul reminds us in Philippians that the work God begins, He finishes. The full picture is not ours to complete. Our calling is simple: faithful obedience, one small piece at a time, trusting His design.Scripture (NIV):Philippians 1:6 – “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”If things feel unfinished, it does not mean they are failing. It may simply mean they are forming.💬 Want to talk about it more? What feels unfinished in your life right now?Are you tempted to force progress instead of trust the process?Let’s talk about the middle seasons and what it looks like to trust God there.

The InSight Out Show | Ep. 168 | A Principal Used Hypnosis on Students. Three Later Died. Was There a Connection?

A high school principal was hypnotizing students. Not as part of a psychology program. Not as a licensed clinician. This episode looks at the story featured on "The Curious Case Of"... about Dr. George Kenney, who conducted hypnosis sessions with more than 70 students over several years. Some parents signed off. Some students said it helped their grades and performance. Others, not so much.In 2011, three students who had participated in private sessions died within weeks of each other. Two deaths were ruled suicides. One was a fatal car crash. Dr. Kenney later pleaded no contest and permanently lost his teaching certificate.Investigators did not establish that hypnosis caused the deaths. But the situation leaves people asking questions. Why was a school leader practicing hypnosis at all? Where were the boundaries? And how should Christians think about willingly handing someone influence over their minds?Scripture (NIV):1 Peter 5:8“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”This episode reflects on authority, responsibility, and what it means to stay sober-minded in a culture that often encourages the opposite.💬 Want to talk about it more?Who has influence over your thinking right now? Anchor Points | Ep. 167 | The Smoke Was There All Along…Why Do We Ignore the Warning Signs?

What’s a warning sign you ignored until it became a full-blown crisis?Have you ever smelled smoke and thought, “Hmm… that’s concerning,” but kept going anyway?Mid-workout on leg day, a strange electrical burning smell started drifting through the studio. It was migraine-inducing and immediately concerning, the kind of scent that makes you wonder if something is overheating.Did anyone stop? No. Because fitness people do not quit mid-set.But the smell kept getting stronger. Eyes started burning. Smoke slowly filled the room. The instructor cracked the door open, another worker shrugged it off, and somehow…we all just kept going. There was an electrical fire. The gym shut down for weeks. And we kept working out.Isn’t that how we handle our faith sometimes?God is kind. He often gives us conviction, discomfort, a subtle nudge when something is drifting. Not to scare us, but to protect us.He will meet us in crisis. Of course He will. But let’s stop lowering the volume on warning signs.Scripture (NIV):Proverbs 27:12 – “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever ignored a warning sign because it felt inconvenient? What “smoke signals” might God be showing you right now?Let’s talk about responding early instead of waiting for crisis.👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Anchor Points | Ep. 166 | Feel Outmatched? Before You Disqualify Yourself...

What do you do when you walk into a room and immediately feel like you don’t belong?Like everyone else is smarter, stronger, more qualified… more built for this? And that quiet thought slips in: Why am I here?We have all had that moment. The meeting. The class. The gym. The opportunity. And instead of stepping forward, we start disqualifying ourselves before anything even begins. In today’s Anchor Point, Devin shares how the tortoise and the hare reminds us that we do not have to be the fastest to finish well. The tortoise won by staying steady and moving the way he was built to move.Maybe God is not asking you to outrun anyone.Maybe He is simply asking you to stay in your race.Scripture (NIV):Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”💬 Want to talk about it more? When was the last time you felt outmatched or out of place?Did you stay in the race or did comparison make you want to step out?Let’s talk about what it means to move the way God built you to move. 👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here: https://insightout.beehiiv.com/#StayInYourLane #FaithOverComparison #RunYourRace #ChristianEncouragement #AnchorPoints #ChristianPodcast #InsightOutPodcast

The InSight Out Show | Ep. 165 | Are We Still Citizens?

When was the last time you showed up for something that didn’t directly benefit you?Not a protest. Not a post. Not a complaint. But a room where you had to listen, deliberate, and stay. This episode starts with jury duty. But it does not end there.Jury duty was designed as a check on concentrated power. It forces ordinary citizens into the room where justice is weighed and decisions are made. But today, fewer people show up. Fewer civil cases go to jury trial. And more of us are choosing convenience over responsibility. This is not just about courts. It is about participation. From church business meetings to town halls to civic organizations, shared spaces that once formed citizens are thinning out. At the same time, protest activity and online expression are rising. We are emotionally engaged, but structurally disengaged. We also look at the biblical vision of freedom and responsibility.Scripture (NIV):Galatians 5:13 “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”Freedom is not the end of responsibility. It is the beginning of it.💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever avoided jury duty or another civic responsibility?Do you think showing up in these spaces still matters? Have you ever apologized and been met with silence, distance, or an icy stare? You did the hard thing. You owned it. You said you were sorry. And yet nothing changed. That moment can mess with your head and your heart. It’s hard when you offer a sincere apology and the other person refuses to accept it. In today’s Anchor Point, we talk about the freedom that comes from understanding where your responsibility ends and God’s work begins. In this episode, Devin reflects on the truth that forgiveness cannot be forced and peace is not always mutual.Scripture (NIV):Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever done everything you could to make peace and it still was not received? What helped you release the outcome and trust God with the rest?Let’s talk about forgiveness, boundaries, and the freedom that comes from obedience.👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Anchor Points | Ep. 163 | The Easiest Way to Lose the Battle With Temptation

What temptations could you avoid if you simply moved them out of reach? And what if part of spiritual wisdom is not fighting harder, but setting yourself up to win before the battle begins? In this Anchor Point, Devin reflects on a simple but powerful truth learned the hard way. Sometimes temptation is not about desire, but about access. From a stolen pair of tennis shoes to everyday wisdom we all practice without thinking, this episode reframes temptation as something we can often reduce before it ever takes root.Scripture (NIV):Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. Have you ever been in the water at night?Even calm waters feel unsettling when everything is pitch black. And yet, the smallest light can instantly bring clarity and direction.Darkness has a way of disorienting us, whether we are standing in the ocean at night or walking through a season we did not choose. In this Anchor Point, Devin reflects on how a single light changes everything and why God often guides us through storms instead of removing them.Scripture (NIV):Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”💬 Want to talk about it more? Are you asking God to stop a storm right now?Or are you willing to let His light guide you through it instead?Let’s talk about how God shows up in dark and uncertain seasons.👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/insightoutcommunity📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here:https://insightout.beehiiv.com/

Ever feel like it’s too late to start something new, especially something like faith? That’s the heart of today’s Anchor Point.Devin Almonte shares her own baptism story—first as an infant in a kitchen sink, then again in her 30s alongside her daughter. Anchor Points | Ep. 159 | You Can Know a Lot… and Still Get It Totally Wrong

Have you ever made a decision where you did all the research, checked all the boxes, and still ended up with the wrong result? We often confuse knowledge with wisdom. We think that if we know enough, read enough, research enough, then we are automatically making a wise decision. But Scripture shows us something different. In this episode of Anchor Points, Devin shares a personal story about choosing window shades for his home. He researched everything. Colors. Materials. Motorized versus manual. He brought plenty of knowledge to the table. But when it came time to sign the contract, he rushed through the most important part and left wisdom behind. The result? The wrong window shades installed. This episode explores why wisdom is less about information and more about care. Being careful. Being aware. Slowing down. Paying attention to what knowledge alone cannot see.In this episode:Why knowledge is not the same thing as wisdomHow rushing decisions can make us vulnerable to avoidable mistakesWhy wisdom is closely tied to care and awarenessHow God invites us to slow down and seek wisdom in everyday decisionsScripture (NIV):“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” - Proverbs 4:7TODAY’S FAITH EXERCISE:Think of a moderately big decision you are facing right now. Before moving forward, pause and ask God for wisdom, not just clarity or information. Ever feel like you're saying all the right affirmations, but still coming up empty? That’s the heart of today’s conversation.Devin Almonte recently came across an article titled “50 Self-Affirmations to Help You Stay Motivated Every Day.” At first, the list sounded empowering:“I am successful. I am confident. I am powerful.”But the more she repeated them, the more something felt off.Why didn’t it work? What was missing? In today’s Anchor Point, Devin explores:Why “I am” affirmations left her feeling more pressure, not peaceWhat shifted when she focused on who God is, instead of who she’s trying to beThe surprising confidence that comes from relying on God’s character, not her ownScripture (NIV):“He must become greater; I must become less.” – John 3:30💬 Want to talk about it more?Have self-affirmations helped you or have they quietly made you feel like you're never enough? What would happen if you turned those “I am” statements into “God is” truths?Let’s talk about where real strength comes from. 👉Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here

The InSight Out Show | Ep. 157 | This Is What Happens When a Nation Stops Teaching Assimilation

Are we still forming citizens or just handing out paperwork? When we stop teaching what it means to belong, we shouldn’t be surprised when it all starts falling apart. We’re not just talking immigration here. We’re talking assimilation and what it means to share a civic life, and why that sense of national identity feels like it’s slipping away.In this episode of The InSight Out Show, Devin shares:Why we’re more partisan than patriotic and how that’s fracturing the countryHow other countries handle citizenship (and what we can learn from them)What assimilation really means and why we’ve misunderstood itHow civic habits like jury duty and voting reveal what we valueWhat childcare fraud, PPP scams, and skipping jury duty have in commonHow national belonging begins with personal responsibilityScripture, reflection, and real talk meet here. What if the dream you're chasing…isn't actually meant for you?In a world filled with messages to manifest, hustle, and make it happen, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing we can force our goals into reality. But what happens when life throws a curveball or when that relentless pursuit only leaves us burned out?In today’s Anchor Point, Devin Almonte opens up about:Her own struggle with goal-setting and letting goWhy “just believing” doesn’t guarantee resultsHow inviting God into the process shifts everythingThe surprising peace that comes from following His lead, not our ownScripture (NIV):Proverbs 16:9 – “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever chased a goal so hard it left you exhausted? What changed when you started inviting God into your dreams?Let’s talk about surrender, shifting paths, and dreaming differently. 👉 Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here

You want to show up to church, but you feel like you don’t belong.Too messy. Too broken. Too far from “together.”Devin remembers walking into church for the first time, sober but still smoking, surrounded by families who looked like they had it all figured out. She felt like Raggedy Ann in a room full of Easter dresses and ironed shirts. That feeling—I’m not good enough to be here—isn’t just familiar. It’s a lie.And it’s one that keeps too many people from stepping out in faith. In this episode, Devin gets honest about:Why showing up might feel like the hardest stepThe lie that says you have to “clean up” before you comeThe truth about why your place in church is already yoursScripture (NIV):Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever walked into church and felt like you didn’t belong? What kept you from leaving or what’s keeping you from going?Join the conversation: 👉 Private FB Group📩 Stay connected:Weekly encouragement, reflections, and behind-the-scenes insights:👉 Subscribe here

Have you ever prayed about something and then things immediately got worse? That’s exactly what happened to me when I asked a friend to join me in prayer. In today’s Anchor Point, I share a real story about how prayer did get answered, but not in the way I expected. What looked like a disaster at first (a literal geyser in the yard!) became a reminder that God’s help doesn't always come the way we think it will. This episode explores:Why prayer often leads us through a mess, not around itWhat it looks like when God provides care before the solutionHow to hold onto trust when His answer isn’t what we picturedScripture (NIV):Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever prayed over something and felt like it only got worse afterward?Did it ever turn out that God was answering, just not in the way you expected?Let’s talk about it in the InSight Out Community 👉 Join the Facebook group📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here

The InSight Out Show | Ep. 153 | Why Everyone Saw the ICE Shooting Differently and What No One’s Talking About

Have we lost the ability to agree on what’s right and what’s wrong? In this episode of The InSight Out Show, we’ll look at a moment in America that revealed something far deeper than policy disagreement — a society fractured at its moral core.In early January, a woman named Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis after a confrontation. Within hours, two completely different narratives emerged — from righteous heroism to dangerous aggression — and both felt morally justified. That’s when we have to ask: Are we playing by the same rules anymore? This isn’t just about immigration, policy, or politics. This is about a shared moral framework that once helped us live together — and what happens when that disappears. In today’s conversation, we explore:How the same event can lead to completely different moral universesWhat happens when intention replaces shared moralityWhy authority, responsibility, and consequence matterThe danger of deciding moral rules for ourselvesWhat Scripture says about our deceitful hearts and real moral groundingWe go deeper than the headlines — asking whether we have the same rules at all, or whether we are just arguing different games with different rulebooks.Scripture (NIV):Jeremiah 17:9 – “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick. Have you ever second-guessed doing the right thing just because no one else was doing it?At the airport security line, Devin noticed something strange: two open lines, but everyone was crowded into just one. The other? Completely empty. And even though she knew it made sense to take the open lane, it felt wrong because nobody else was.In today’s Anchor Point, Devin chats about a moment of hesitation that reveals a deeper spiritual pattern:Why we doubt what’s clearly open in front of usHow the crowd can make us question the right pathWhat it takes to move confidently when others don’t understandScripture (NIV):Matthew 7:14 – “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”💬 Want to talk about it more?Have you ever seen a better way but stayed with the crowd because it felt safer? What does it take to step forward even when others don’t?Let’s talk about breaking out of the herd mentality and following God’s direction, even when it turns heads. 👉Join the conversation in the InSight Out Community on Facebook: Private FB Group📩 Stay connected:Get encouragement, reflections, behind-the-scenes moments, and more in the weekly newsletter:👉 Subscribe here
