Issachar Lectures
by Redeemer Kansas City
In 1 Chronicles 12:32, the men of Issachar were said to understand the times and know what Israel ought to do. Toward this aim, these lectures seek to help Christians grow in understanding our current cultural moment in order that they might gain wisdom, understanding, and courage to act with faithfulness as the people of God.Each Issachar Lecture serves as a stand alone address of a particular cultural idea or moment. God, the Bible, and the Therapeutic | Ten Propositions for Living in a Therapeutic World
“Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am an anxious man, and I dwell in the midst of an anxious people.” It would not be hard to imagine a contemporary retelling of the call of the prophet Isaiah in such modern terms. The language of emotional and mental health has become quite ubiquitous in our day. The vocabulary of therapy — concepts like trauma, self-care, anxiety, diagnoses, emotional well-being, toxicity, boundaries, narcissism, triggers, safe-spaces — have come to take up a significant place in the everyday language in our world.Visit https://Issacharlectures.com for more

Toxic Technology | A Ballast in the Storm
We are living through a revolution. Over the last two decades our world has become increasingly defined by our relationship to digital technology. These technologies have promised us increased access to information, to knowledge, and even to one another. Although there are ways that these technologies have made good on their promises, we are discovering that they did not come without a high cost. At the same time, we have seen the increase of anxiety, depression, addiction, and isolation that have been birthed from the over abundance of these technologies. How are Christians meant to live in response to such technology? Are we to embrace them fully? Are we to reject them and retreat into some form of idyllic pre-technological paradise? In this lecture, we will explore the reality of the “Digital Revolution” that we find ourselves in, and seek to lay out a Biblical vision and framework for seeking to walk in wisdom and prudence with regards to such technology.Visit https://Issacharlectures.com for more
