This week's episode of Neighbors is a special episode live from the Church of Eleven22 Women's Encounter. Featuring Lysa TerKeurst, Gretchen Martin, Rebecca Maxwell, Caitlin Armstrong, Tonya Annis, and Confidence Mokgatle, we laugh, roast each other, and talk about the deep and honest parts of our faith journeys. 76: What's Your Tool? with Tasha Layton
This week, Ali got to sit down with contemporary Christian music artist, author, and songwriter Tasha Layton. Tasha's story and life experience (including touring as Katy Perry's backup vocalist for 4 years) has led her to write and sing and minister from a place of authenticity and openness. Her candid spirit is refreshing and inspiring as she constantly challenges herself and others to ask what God has for us in this season. We talk all about her story coming up in the Christian music space, going to hard places in order to meet God, and the point of it all: to point our lives to Jesus. 75: Stop Running, Start Belonging with Whitney Lowe
Do you know the magnitude of God's love for you? Do you know the lengths that He goes to win our hearts? We serve a God who is in constant pursuit of us and yet we slip into arm's length living with God all the time. This conversation with Whitney Lowe, we unpack the reality of God's pursuit for us and how it has the ability to change our whole life. On the other side of this pursuit is freedom and flourishing. When we show up with our real self to a real God, it changes everything. Go get Whitney's newest book, Called Back to Who You Are, anywhere books are found. 74: Is Spiritual Warfare Real? With Dr. Joel Muddamalle
Theologian and author, Dr. Joel Muddamalle, has done the heavy lifting for us to unpack the reality of spiritual warfare from a Biblical viewpoint. Joel is my go-to guy for grounded, gospel-centered theological wisdom. This conversation is one of learning, curiosity, and unpacking what the Bible actually says about life on earth, life in the cosmos, and the ultimate desire for God, the Father, to reconcile His family. You will leave this conversation feeling challenged (many times, I could not believe this stuff is in the Bible), and equipped to push back darkness and fight for the family of God. Go get Joel's newest book, The Unseen Battle, anywhere books are found. 73: We Have to Pray with Pastor Ryan Britt
As we kick off our new season of Neighbors, it only felt right to talk about prayer. There is no one I'd rather chat with about prayer than Pastor Ryan Britt. He is a friend, a pastor, and someone I seek wisdom from often. His convictions and teachings on prayer have formed much of my prayer life and his thoughts in this conversations will give you a framework for the importance of prayer alongside some practicalities of a life bathed in prayer. What is more evident than ever is we must be a praying people. If we want to see change happen in our lives, communities, and around the world, it starts with deep, rich prayer. 68: What's God Telling You to Do? with Annie F. Downs
This week’s episode we have the queen of fun, Annie F. Downs. We go back to how Annie got into writing, podcasting, and speaking. While she has pursued a life of fun and play, she’s also walked dark and grieving seasons. The word through it all is endurance. Enduring seasons and staying the course of what God has called you to do is what has made up her last 10+ years of doing this. As always, she’ll make you laugh, she’ll make you think, and she’ll point you to Jesus. This week’s episode is Rebecca Maxwell, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a great friend of Neighbors. Rebecca just launched her first book into the world, Jesus and Your Mental Health. 66: I’m Ok with Being Misunderstood with Masey McLain
This week we have actress, screenwriter, and producer, Masey McLain, who shares on the realities of Hollywood and the film industry and how she has committed to be a light for Jesus right where He has planted her. She has had to make hard decisions based on her convictions and in “hidden” seasons she has had to hold fast to the truth of who God says she is. We talk about the dangerous game of comparison, ministry is where you are, and the lie of “missing out”. So much truth and encouragement in this episode. 65: When God Says Go with Tyler Workman
17 years ago, The Workmans packed up their life, moved to Uganda, and started Okoa Refuge. What started as a home for children in need has turned into many different projects transforming communities and spreading the gospel throughout Uganda and beyond. Their relentless pursuit to just go where God is calling has fueled this ministry beyond their wildest imaginations. In partnership with the government, they are quite literally changing the entire landscape of their community. And it hasn’t been without suffering. What you’ll hear in this episode is a family and ministry who chooses hard things knowing they serve a good God who has called and appointed them for such a time as this. My hope is that you are encouraged in your own journey to choose the hard knowing how good the God we serve is. 64: The Adventure Inside Every Man with Joby Martin
This week we are sitting down with my very own pastor, Joby Martin. Inside of every man is the question, “do I have what it takes?”. We talk about where that originates and how the ache of risk, danger, and adventure lives inside of every man. This world has tried hard to dull it, but the Bible says otherwise. It was such a fun conversation about how all of us can play a part in cultivating space for our men to flourish. Because where men lead and love well, everyone flourishes. Be sure to buy Pastor Joby’s book, Stand Firm and Act Like Men, anywhere books are sold. It’s for any man and anyone that knows a man 😉 Follow along with Pastor Joby @jobypmartin -- You can follow along all things Neighbors Podcast on Instagram @neighbors_podcast -- To join our Patreon community, The Neighborhood, go to: www.patreon.com/neighborspodcast -- For merch or to get a copy of Daughter, head to our website: www.theneighborspodcast.com -- To reach out, you can email [email protected]

63: What in the World is Happening?
In today's audio only episode, I sit down with my friend and Bible teacher, Caitlin Armstrong, to process what has been happening in our country this past week alongside the truth of who God is and what His Word says. We know it's been a heavy week and at the same time, we are seeing God move in a mighty way in His Church and this country. We hold onto a hope beyond what we can see knowing we serve a real and good God. Scriptures we reference: Habakkuk 1 Luke 6:27-28 Acts 7 Key takeaways: 1. Guard your inputs 2. Anchor in scripture 3. Pray for our enemies 4. Share your faith Due to the last minute nature, this episode is audio only from our Patreon community. 61: I Didn’t Know How to Give God my Addiction with Alan and Hunter Orcutt
If you need a story of God’s relentless pursuit of us, despite our brokenness, this story is for you. Hunter and Alan have walked the hard road of addiction and running from God to now living a life telling people about the goodness of God’s pursuit and healing. Their vulnerability and willingness to be an “open book” in order to help others raise their hands who need help is inspiring and humbling. They challenged me to think about the parts of my life I am not surrendering and the freedom that awaits when we lay it all in front of the Lord time and time again. 58: Ladybug at the Well with Reina Cherry
If there is one woman I want to grow up and be like, it's probably Reina Cherry. You may not know her name, but her impact can be felt amongst hundreds of women that she has discipled and cared for over decades of ministry. She makes more disciples than cookies (and she makes a LOT of cookies - shout out Reina Cookies). She is fiercely devoted to a life centered around Christ and inviting other people into that life. 57: Beyond Your Circumstances with Jeramiah Bowles
Life has dealt Jeramiah a hand he maybe wouldn’t have picked for himself. But, God. Because of His faith in Jesus, Jeramiah has chosen a different path. One of joy and gratitude. One of hard work and generational legacy. His testimony is one of deep struggle and pain, but also one of big redemption, big healing, and big hope. No matter where you find yourself, no matter the circumstances, God is bigger and we know He’s good. 56: Your Story Matters with Tori Hein
We all have a story. We all have many life experiences, big and small, that make up who we are - the lights and the shadows. What’s wild is we may not even realize how parts of our story play out in our everyday lives. This week, I sat down with Tori Hein. She is a trauma-informed coach with Freedom Movement who wants to see all people walk in freedom through the power of Jesus Christ. She shares her story of hurt and healing and how much more alive she is by not white knuckling life any longer and surrendering it all to Jesus. Anytime, I talk to Tori or hear her teach, I am encouraged and challenged to keep surrendering, knowing His ways are better. Also, she’s giving any Neighbors fans $100 (!!) off their course. 55: Get in the Fight with Mike Dragich
This week, I sat down with alligator trapper, marine corps veteran, MMA fighter, and founder of Project Savior Outdoors, Mike Dragich. We talk about how the fight in him turned from vengeance to justice after meeting Jesus. He inspires everyone around him to get in the fight, whatever that looks like for you. Project Savior Outdoors is a ministry to fight veteran and first responders suicide. We discuss the realities of suicide in those fields and how the hope of Jesus is fighting back the darkest darkness. All while hunting alligators and adventuring in creation. It’s a good one friends. 54: I Have a Job for You with Chantelle Kammerdiener
I want to be Chantelle when I grow up! She is wise, confident, and sharp. AND has a heart that beats for people, particularly survivors of human trafficking. Chantelle led a successful career in business (even working for the horse, Secretariat, more on that in the convo!) and as she encountered the brokenness of human trafficking, she knew she had to join the fight. So with a couple others, she founded Arize Together - a forever community that is breaking the cycle of sexual exploitation. Hearing her talk so tenderly and proudly about the survivors in their community and why it matters that we care for the broken and the hurt is inspiring. I hope it inspires you to take the step God is calling you to take to walk out what it looks like to love Him and love people well. People like Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell, Cody Johnson, Dan + Shay, and more. He has been in the music industry for 20 years and as he has grown in his faith so has his mission to love people and share Jesus with them. Lou is leveraging everything he has to share the gospel in the country music world and to be a light in a place where the things of this world have a strong grip on most. Episode 48: Jesus in a Strip Club with Tami Taunton
Yeah, you read that right. Tami Taunton, the founder of Hadassah's Hope, believes that all people should hear the good news of the gospel, and all people includes strippers. Each week, her ministry loves on girls in the clubs, leads bible studies, and even ministers to the bouncers and club owners. Tami was your classic stay at home mom - loving her husband and raising babies unto the glory of God . Until one day, God blew all of that up and led Tami to start serving a group of people largely looked over or disregarded. Episode 45: Fighting Distraction with Ryan Britt
Today's guest is one of the smartest men in my life. Pastor Ryan Britt is the Executive Pastor of the Church of Eleven22. Episode 31: A Conversation with my Mom and Dad
Season 3 is coming to an end and there felt like no better way to close it out than with this special conversation with my very own parents. Now in their mid 60s, they have raised 3 girls, led amazing careers (paid and unpaid), and now are taking retirement head on as an opportunity to deepen their faith and share it with others. I am inspired by their boldness and encouraged by their reflection on what they did and didn’t do as parents, spouses, friends, and followers of Jesus.
