For the Seventh Sunday of Easter, the lectionary scriptures are Acts 1:6-14 and 1Peter 4:12-14,5:6-11 and John 17:1-11. We start by discussing the importance of the ascension of Yeshua and Yeshua's current position at the right hand of God interceding for us. We discuss 1Peter4 directives to humble ourselves, discipline ourselves, and resist the enemy who prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Finally, we end discussing Yeshua's high priestly prayer in John 17 to the Holy Father for protection and unity on behalf of those given to him.

We discuss the lectionary for the Sixth Sunday of Easter including Psalm 66, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21. Peter tells us to always be ready to make a defense for the hope that is in you. "Messiah who suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteousness, in order to bring you to God." We are told to maintain a "good conscience" and "in your hearts to sanctify Christ/Messiah as Lord." "He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit." And he has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels,authorities, and powers made subject to him". And in the gospel John 14:15-21, Yeshua/Jesus did not leave us orphaned, but he asked the Father to give us the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth to abide in us. "In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; Because I live, you also will live."

Join us as we discuss the lessons for the fifth Sunday of easter especially concentrating on John 14:1-14 and Yeshua/Jesus statement "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also." How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;"

One New Man starts a new format following the revised common lectionary which usually presents a weekly Old testament, psalm, epistle, and gospel scriptural passage with common themes. We study the weekly lectionary scriptures to try to discern the most important common themes. The "Fourth Sunday of Easter" lectionary scriptures are: Acts 2:42-47, Psalm 23, 1Peter 2:19-25, John 10:1-10. Peter points to Yeshua our suffering servant prophesied to come in Isaiah 53 and confirmed in 1 Peter 2:19-25. John 10 presents Yeshua/Jesus as our "Good Shepherd" who states in John 10:7-10 "So Jesus again said to them, "Truly,truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." Acts 2:46-47 describes the overflowing Spirit among the saints: "And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

We discuss with Joel Richardson his book from post 911 era over 23 years ago "Islamic Antichrist" and its prophetic content in the context of Iran and the spread of Islam across the world, now with 2 billion adherents. James 5 advises against faith in worldly riches and to develop the patience necessary to endure suffering. James 5:11 says that "you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful." In the second part, we discuss James 5:15-16 advices about healing prayer: "and the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins one to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed." We discuss the power of faith in intercessory prayer, and the healing power of the Holy Spirit. "Listen, love, pray" for one another.

We study the powerful chapter four of James. James 4:5 "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us". "Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:7- 8: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." James 4: 10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you".

In this episode, Father Joe Kohm and Jerry explore the history of and rationale for the Anglican Book of Common Prayer- extemporaneous versus composed prayer- the support it provides to both prayer and Bible reading. Father Joe argues the case that the Book of Common Prayer will deepen the prayers of every faithful Christian, Anglican or not.

We learn about the power of the tongue to destroy and the necessity to tame the tongue. We discuss how James contrasts wisdom from above with earthly, unspiritual, devilish deception that causes jealousy and selfish ambition and results in conflict. James 3 ends with the blessings of “wisdom from above” which results in "the harvest of righteousness sown in peace by those who make peace”, Shalom. "Mathew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God".

Are we justified by faith alone? Is faith without works dead? Does transgressing the law of liberty result in judgement. Does mercy triumph over judgement? James 2 is an exciting revelation of these deep questions about the Christian walk.

We finish our study of the rich chapter James 1. We discuss temptation, desire, and sin and deceiving our hearts. We discuss perseverance, and the "law of liberty". We discuss God's mercy and grace through the forgiveness and atonement of Yeshua/Jesus. How does one have religion that is pure and undefiled, and "keep oneself unstained from the world"?

We start the study of James with the historical understanding of James, the half brother of Yeshua/Jesus. James 1 exhorts us to consider it pure joy, to persevere, to seek wisdom, and not to be double minded. Join us as we unpack James direction to be steadfast and obedient. James 1:12 "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."

But how the truth is received depends on the condition of the heart that is receiving it. Truth has the power to set us free. But if a person does not have a relationship with Jesus, then they have not received the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth.

We finish our study of the beautiful book of Hebrews discussing the exhortation to honor marriage, and to avoid the "love of money", and to trust in God who will never leave nor forsake us. And Hebrews 13:8 famously states that "Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, and today, and forever". The summary of the gospel in Hebrews 13:12 "Therefore Yeshua/Jesus also, so that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate." And Hebrews 13:15-16 "Through Him, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share. For with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

Join us as we discuss the conclusion to Hebrews 12 including the warning in Heb 12:15 to "watch diligently" "lest any root of bitterness spring up to cause trouble, and many become defiled by it." We discuss the meaning of Heb 12:23 the "assembly of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven". All praise and glory to Heb 12:24 "Yeshua, the Mediator of a new covenant; and to the sprinkled blood of Yeshua that speaks better than that of Abel." Hebrews 12:29 concludes "For our God is a consuming fire."

Jerry talks with Professor, of theology at Kenrick- Glennon Seminary. Larry Feingold. He traces God's "self- emptying Love" throughout Israel's history, showing how Yeshua's incarnation is the fitting (and very Jewish) culmination to Creation, Covenant, Tabernacle, and Temple.

In Hebrews 12, we discuss running the race with endurance while "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross". As for us, Hebrews 12:4 "In your struggle against sin you have not resisted to the point of shedding your blood." Because we are daughters and sons of God, the Father disciplines us, not as punishment but Heb 12:10-11 "that we may share his holiness." "For the moment all disciplne seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness."

We continue to discuss the depth of Hebrews 11: The revelation of the creative outworking of the faith of the patriarchs Noah, Abraham, and Isaac. Hebrews 11:6: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek Him." We discuss the forshadowing of Yeshua,the "author and finisher of our faith". Because Hebrews 11:13 says of the great "men of old": "These all died in faith not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth"...Heb 11:16 "But they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them."

We discuss the powerful definition and declaration of faith in Hebrews 10 and 11. Hebrews 10:26 issues a dire warning not "go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth". In Hebrews 10:35-36 we are told "do not to throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised." Hebrews 10:39 declares: "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls." And then that great definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1 "Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Pastor OS Hawkins, Chancellor of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and author of 50 books, discusses his new book Just Jesus. He talks about the mystery of the triune God and the Jewish roots of the faith. He discusses the wrong understanding of replacement theology and the love and gratitude of evangelicals for Israel and the Jewish people. "Just Jesus" is a 365 day devotional that presents Pastor Hawkins' wisdom and teaching from all of his previous books of "the Code" series.

Deacon Keith Fornier and Lee Kanter discuss the often overlooked Nostro Aetate, the official Catholic Vatican 2 position paper from October 28,1965 that states: "Thus, the Church acknowledges that, according to God's saving design, the beginnings of her faith and her election are found already among the Patriarchs, Moses, and the Prophets...The Church, therefor, cannot forget that she received the revelation of the Old Testament through the people with whom God in His inexpressible mercy concluded the Ancient Covenant. Nor can she forget that she draws sustenance from the root of that well-cultivated olive tree onto which have been grafted the wild olive shoots, the Gentiles. Indeed, the Church believes that by His cross Christ, Our Peace, reconciled Jews and Gentiles, making both one in Himself."

We discuss Hebrews 10 and the once and for all atonement through Yeshua. Hebrews 10:10, "And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all". Hebrews 10:14 "For by a single offering, he has perfected for all time, those who are sanctified." Hebrews 10:17-18 "'I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more.' Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin." 10:23-24 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works."

The blood of our unblemished high priest Yeshua/Jesus is the once and for all atonement that covers and atones for our sins. The blood of Messiah/Christ Heb9:14 “cleanses our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God.” Heb 9:22 “ In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

We pray for our enemies and especially the Iranian Christians to be set free from the terror of the oppressive ruling regime. We pray Jeremiah 49:34-39 and that God's promise; 49:38-39 "I will set my throne in Elam (the biblical name for that part of Iran along the Persian gulf) and destroy their king and officials, declares the LORD. But in the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares the LORD."

What is maturity of faith? Hebrews 6 teaches us the basis for "the full assurance of hope to the end" based on the "sure promise of God". Heb 6:18 "It was impossible for God to lie" when He swore an oath to Abraham who obtained the promise of God that through his seed all nations would be blessed. Because of God's promises Heb 6:19-20 "We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, which enters the inner sanctuary behind the veil. This is where Yeshua has entered for us as a forerunner, since He has become the everlasting High Priest in the order of Melchizedek." We discuss Hebrews 7 that compares and contrasts the Levitical high priests and Yeshua, who is Heb 7:17 "A priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Yeshua is "a better hope", and "the guarantor of a better covenant". Heb 7: 24-25 "But He, because He lives forever, has an everlasting priesthood. Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, because He at all times lives to make intercession for them."

We discuss Hebrews 5 and 6 and Yeshua our perfect high priest in the order of Melchizedek. We discuss the correct posture of our heart in repentance and obedience for the great gift of Yeshua, salvation through the cross.

Grant Berry from Reconnecting Ministries and Duke White,Jr and Lee discuss replacement theology in the context of the opportunity and importance for understanding Passover. The symbology of the Passover seder as the Last Supper unlocks the full freedom and rebirth message of Yeshua. He is our paschal lamb whose blood spares us from the "wages of sin" which is death, and who consecrates the Passover elements of the unleavened bread and wine as His body and blood of the covenant poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. We discuss the need for repentance and renouncing generational patterns of replacement theology to open the blessing of unity in the body of Messiah.

We discuss God's promised rest and the requirement of faith and obedience to enter into that rest. We are exhorted not to turn away from the living God or to allow the deceitfulness of sin to lead to hardening of the heart and prevent the promised Sabbath rest. "For we do not have a great high priest (Yeshua) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet did not sin. Let us then approoach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Yeshua, Jesus, Heb 2:14-15 shared in our flesh and blood so that "through death He might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver those who through fear of death were throughout their lives subject to bondage." Heb 2:17 "Therefore, in all things it was necessary for Him to be made like His brothers, so that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in the things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people."

Yeshua, Jesus, in Hebrews 1-2 is the Son, the heir of all things, the radiance of the glory of God, the exact imprrint of the nature of God, seated above all the angels, seated at the right hand of God, the founder of salvation, the King, the defeater of death and the devil, and the propitiation for the sins of the people. Hallelujah, praise the mighty name of Yeshua!
