The first century lived in a time like ours where God’s nature was questioned. The apostle, Paul, offer a defense for the existence of God when he speaks to philosophers at Mars Hill. His defense is worthy of examination since it speaks to some of the same issues we question today. 

Date: 21 April 2025 Location: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Psalm 110:1-7 Synopsis: Just as God confirmed his commitment to the kings, He confirmed his faithfulness to His Jesus Christ. God faithfulness was exhibited by seating Jesus at His right after His resurrection. The reality of the resurrection confirms that the Father did not abandon the Son. In the same way, God promises that He will not abandon us since we have all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. 

Date: 6 April 2025 Place: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Psalm 78:1-8 Synopsis: Psalm 78 is a wisdom Psalm that speaks of God’s work among Israel. It encourages the believing community to tell the next generation about God’s work so that they would be faithful. Since it is a song of worship, its content implies that worship is a means by which we preserve and pass on the truths of God’s word. 

Date: 30 March 2025 Place: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Psalm 16:1-11Synopsis: Psalm 16 is a Psalm of trust which focuses on God’s faithfulness in fulfilling his promises. Just as God fulfilled his promised to give Israel Canaan, He was faithful in preserving David’s life so that he could be king according to God’s oath to him. Likewise, God’s promises to us are sure. What He allots in life is enough. Therefore, our joy comes from God’s guidance and presence throughout all seasons and paths of life. 

Text: Psalm 85:1-13 Date: 23 March 2025 Place: Dale City Churh of ChristSynopsis: Sometimes God’s people experience the crisis of feeling distant from God. In this moments God gives us room to cry out to Him. In this season, worship is our crisis plan so that we don’t lean on what is temporary and ineffective. Rather, we lean on God and trust Him to turn things around as we turn to Him. 

Text: Psalm 132:1-18 Date: 17 March 2025 Place: Dale City Church of Christ Synopsis: Psalm 132 emphasizes David’s devotion to keep God central in his life. The ark of the covenant is celebrated as a physical symbol of God’s presence. Since the ark led Israel into battle, representing God’s presence, David found it appropriate that the ark should also have a central position in Jerusalem. He teaches us that our devotion to God should be visible through all seasons of life. 

Date: 9 March 2025 Place: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Psalm 66:1-15 Synopsis: Worship is an expression of gratitude to God for His works of salvation. As we worship, we show our commitment to God through visible acts that reenact the salvation that God provides. 

Date: 2 March 2025 Location: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Psalm 34:1-10 Synopsis: Psalm 34 is an account of God’s deliverance in David’s life. David committed to a life of worship because he experienced God’s commitment to him. The effect of God’s is so great that he is compelled to invites others to exalt God together. David demonstrates that worship is continual and communal. 

Date: 16 February 2025 Location: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Genesis 50:15-21 Synopsis: The story of Joseph demonstrates that God weaves and works his will in our lives just at in Joseph’s. The plan of man cannot overturn the will of God. Joseph’s life is evidence that though God is not the author or evil, God draws good out of evil and will ultimately conquer evil. 

Date: 10 February 2025 Location: Sandy Lane Church of Christ Text: Mark 9:14-24 Synopsis: Life’s challenges test our faith. A man with a demon-possessed openly shared how his ongoing family trauma pressed against his desire to trust God. While he doubted, the Scribes debated, and the crowd deliberated, Jesus pointed out the means to a deeper faith that is able to transform our lives. 

Date: 9 February, 2025 Location: Sandy Lane Church of Christ Text: Hosea 10:11-12 Synopsis: God’s blessings were given to Israel so that they could be a light to the nations. Yet they enjoyed the blessings without a desire to be committed to God. Hosea’s prophecy points out how blessed they were and how God desired their restoration. The text teaches that when God chastens is, God does so in love so that we can return to our intended purpose. 

Date: 2 February 2025 Location: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Genesis 32:22-32Synopsis: Jacob’s names was changed to Israel because he wrestled with God. Though throughout his life he showed traits that led him to trick others, God’s encounter with him caused him to seek God’s favor. 

Date: 26 January 2025Location: Dale City Church of Christ Text: Genesis 12:1-9 Synopsis: God called Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldeans and sent him to Canaan. His geographical journey is symbolic of our spiritual journey. When God calls us to obedience, we may be called out the familiar, to represent God in our character and to be committed to God in allowing our faith to be manifested in actions. Sermon Notes
