At War with the Demonic | Pastor Ben Dixon
What does the Bible actually teach about demons, demonic activity, and spiritual warfare? In this teaching, we take a biblical and balanced look at how demonic influence operates through deception, temptation, accusation, oppression, false teaching, and agreement with sin, while also addressing more direct forms of spiritual attack found throughout Scripture. Far too many people either become obsessed with the demonic or dismiss it completely, but the Bible calls believers to live with awareness, discernment, and confidence in Christ. Most importantly, we look at the victory of Jesus, who came to destroy the works of the devil and bring true freedom to those who belong to Him.

Seeing People The Right Way | Pastor Ben Dixon
Acts chapter 10 records a powerful turning point in the spread of the Gospel as God opens the door for the Gentiles to hear and receive the message of Jesus Christ. Although Peter already knew the mission of Jesus, there were still perspectives and assumptions in him that needed to change. Yet it was Peter’s posture before God in prayer that positioned him to hear from God and ultimately see people differently. This message explores how our posture before God shapes our perspective of people and ultimately influences the way we reach out to the world around us. At War with the World | Pastor Ben Dixon
What does the Bible mean when it says, “Do not love the world”? In this teaching, we talk about the very real spiritual battle believers face against the broken and godless system that opposes God and His truth. Every day, followers of Jesus are being pressured to think differently, compromise truth, and drift from God’s ways. This is a practical and Biblical teaching on spiritual warfare, discernment, truth, and what it means to live set apart for Christ in the world we live in today.

The Foundation for Reaching People | Pastor Ben DIxon
Most Christians would say they love God—but reaching people often feels harder, less natural, and sometimes even uncomfortable. Why is that? Jesus never separated those two realities. He called us to love God with everything and to go and make disciples. When those are disconnected, faith becomes either inward and passive or outward and forced. But when they come together, reaching people becomes a clear and compelling part of following Jesus. This message lays the foundation for understanding both the heart and the mission behind reaching people. At War with the Flesh | Spiritual Warfare | Pastor Ben Dixon
Why do we still struggle with sinful thoughts, desires, and temptations even after coming to Christ? In this teaching, we look at the ongoing battle between the flesh and the Spirit and how believers can walk in real freedom and victory through Jesus. This is a practical and Biblical message on temptation, renewing the mind, resisting sin, walking by the Spirit, and learning how to live surrendered to God every day.

A Call to War | Spiritual Warfare | Pastor Ben Dixon
We are not living a neutral life—we are in a spiritual battle whether we realize it or not. In this first session, we lay a biblical foundation for understanding spiritual warfare by answering three critical questions: Who is our enemy? What is the war about? And how do we fight? Looking at Ephesians 6, we unpack the roles of Satan, demons, the world, and the flesh, and bring clarity to what’s really at stake—your allegiance, your transformation, and your purpose. This is not about fear or extremes, but about learning how to stand firm in the strength God provides and walk in the victory Jesus has already secured.

The Practice of Repentance | Pastor Ben Dixon
Repentance is one of the most essential practices of the Christian life. Many people think of it as a one-time moment or simply feeling sorry for sin, but Scripture reveals something much deeper. Repentance is a turning of the heart and life toward God that not only begins our relationship with Him but continues to shape it daily. In this message, we’ll define what repentance truly is, clear up common misconceptions, explore how it functions in both salvation and ongoing spiritual growth, and walk through a simple, biblical process for practicing repentance as followers of Jesus. The Practice of Gathering | Pastor Ben DIxon
What does it really mean to be the church—and why does gathering together even matter anymore in our modern times? We live in a culture that has deeply influenced us to view the church as an option when it’s convenient for us, but Scripture calls us to something much deeper. We are not just individuals with a personal faith, but a people who belong to Jesus Christ and are called to gather around Him. When we gather together, we step into one of the primary ways God shapes our lives, and today we are going to explore what that really means. Death Is Defeated | Pastor Ben Dixon
Death is the one enemy every person will face. It does not care who you are, what you believe, or how you live — it comes for everyone. Every funeral, every hospital room, every tear at a graveside reminds us that something is wrong with our world. But Easter is the announcement that death does not win. Jesus did not just come to teach us how to live — He came to confront death, defeat death, and offer life to all who believe in Him. This Easter, we invite you to join us as we discover the hope of the resurrection and the life-changing truth that because Jesus lives, death is not the end of our story. We Are a Prophetic Church | Pastor Ben Dixon
When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church, something new began. God’s Spirit was no longer given to just a few leaders, but to all believers. Because of this, the church became a prophetic people where they could hear God’s voice and speak His encouragement into the lives of others. In our message today, we are going to look at what it truly means to be a prophetic church and how we can embrace all that God has given in order to build each other up and reach people far from God. The Practice of Communion | Pastor Ben Dixon
What does Communion really mean, and why did Jesus institute it? In Luke 22, during the Passover meal with His disciples, Jesus revealed that the ancient story of Israel’s deliverance was ultimately pointing to Him. Through the bread and the cup, He showed that His body would be given and His blood shed for our redemption. In this message we explore how Communion reinterprets Passover, reveals our redemption, reminds us of our Savior, and continues to shape the life of the church today. The Practice of Worship | Pastor Ben Dixon
Worship is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet it is often misunderstood or reduced to a moment, place, or a style of music. In this message, we turn to Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4, where He redefines what true worship really is. Rather than focusing on geography, tradition, or performance, Jesus reveals that worship flows from knowing who God is, responding to what He has done, and allowing that response to shape how we live. Our teaching today invites us to see worship not as something we simply do on occasion, but as a way of life formed by truth, gratitude, and obedience before God. The Practice of Water Baptism | Pastor Ben Dixon
Water baptism has been practiced by followers of Jesus from the very beginning, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood steps of faith in the church today. In this message, we take a clear and biblical look at what water baptism is, where it came from, how it took shape in the New Testament, and why it still matters for us today. Rather than approaching baptism as a tradition, a ritual, or a religious requirement, we will see it as a meaningful response to the gospel—an act of obedience that publicly identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This teaching is meant to bring clarity, remove confusion, and invite every believer to take their next faithful step in following Jesus. Beyond The Sermon | Episode 8 | The Practice of Serving
Serving is so opposite of our culture. Culture tells us to be on top and do things that make us feel good. However, Jesus shows us that as His followers we are called to serve because it is who He is and what He did. As we are obedient, we find the true joy is actually found in selfless service. This week Pastor Ben and Keri Welch discuss what this looks like, how it impacts those around us, and going and doing it! The Practice of Serving | Pastor Ben Dixon
Our world defines greatness by visibility, influence, and being served—but Jesus turns that definition upside down. In the Kingdom of God, greatness is not about climbing higher; it’s about kneeling lower. Following Jesus does not lead us into a life of self-promotion or comfort, but into a way of living that is marked by humility, sacrifice, and service. Serving others is not an optional expression of faith—it is the very path Jesus walked and the practice He called His disciples to follow. Today, we will see that true greatness is found not in how many serve us, but in how willingly we serve others. The Practice of Prayer (Part 2) | Pastor Ben Dixon
Prayer is one of the most familiar practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers struggle to understand how it is meant to shape their daily lives. Rather than offering a set of words to memorize or a method to master, Jesus invites His followers into a way of praying that aligns our heart with God’s purposes as we build a deeper relationship with Him. As we continue learning how Jesus taught His disciples to pray, we turn our attention to His model of prayer in Matthew 6:9–13, where He reveals a pattern that moves us from seeking the glory of God as we depend on Him for all that we need. The Practice of Prayer | Pastor Ben Dixon
Prayer is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers feel unsure about how to pray or what prayer is truly meant to be. In the Sermon on the Mount, we begin learning from Jesus Himself, who first taught His disciples both what prayer is and what prayer is not. Rather than a performance, a formula, or a way to inform God, prayer is an invitation into a regular, and relational trust where we connect with God as our Heavenly Father. The Practice of Scripture | Pastor Ben Dixon
The Practices of the Faith are not circumstantial responses to life going wrong, but intentional rhythms that keep us close to God when life is going right. This week, we focus on The Practice of Scripture which is the foundational practice that shapes every other aspect of our faith. The Bible was not given merely to inform us, but to form us! As we commit ourselves to regularly reading, reflecting, and meditating on God’s Word, we position ourselves to hear His voice more clearly and live faithfully under His authority. Are You Hungry for God? | Pastor Ben Dixon
Throughout Scripture, hunger is used as a powerful metaphor for desire, passion, and dependence on God. Just as physical hunger signals our need for food, spiritual hunger is a holy discomfort that reminds us we need more of God in our lives. This weekend we’ll explore what fuels our hunger for God, what hinders it, and how we can intentionally cultivate a deeper desire for His presence, His Word, and His ways. As we continue our time of fasting and seeking the Lord, we’re believing God to awaken fresh hunger and to satisfy us as we earnestly seek Him. The Practice of Fasting | Pastor Ben Dixon
As we begin a new series called “Practices of the Faith”, we are focusing on the spiritual disciplines that shape how we follow Jesus in everyday life. Fasting is one of the most important and least understood of the practices in Scripture. Fasting is the intentional decision to lay aside food and other things in order to seek God more fully through prayer and dependence. We are beginning this series with fasting because it will help reset our spiritual priorities and create space for God to work in us. Also, as we enter into a season of prayer and fasting for 21 days, I believe that we will receive a renewed hunger, greater focus, and deeper reliance on God as a church family Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Matthew 6:16-18 Series: The Practices of The Faith Thank you for Joining. Reset Your Algorithm | Pastor Ben Dixon
In a world that constantly competes for our attention and shapes the way we think, desire, and live, it’s easy to be formed without even realizing it. Scripture reminds us that we are always being shaped by something—either by the patterns of the world or by the way of Jesus. This message invites us to pause, reflect, and realign our lives around Christ by asking honest questions about who or what is shaping us, who God is calling us to become, and how we will intentionally follow Him into that life. As we step into a new year, this is an invitation to reset—not our schedules or devices, but our discipleship—choosing once again to be formed by the ways and words of Jesus. Joseph Did You Know? | Pastor Ben Dixon | Christmas Eve
We talk about the story of Jesus all the time, but we don’t always stop to think about Joseph. Think about what he went through—finding out Mary was pregnant, wrestling with what to do, and then having angels speak to him. Scripture shows us a man under real pressure, facing a lot of uncertainty. Joseph didn’t have all the answers, but he trusted God anyway. And because of that, he saw and was a part of the story of Jesus, the Savior of the world. The Family That Welcomes The Stranger | Pastor Ben Dixon and Medard Ngueita
This weekend we continue our Family of God series with our final message entitled “The Family That Welcomes the Stranger.” Throughout Scripture, God reveals His heart for the foreigner, the outsider, and the displaced, calling His people to love, protect, and welcome those who are far from home. As a church family, we want to better understand what it means to live out this calling in our own community. Today’s message will take the form of a conversation as we hear the story and perspective of Medard Ngueita, Executive Director of World Relief Western Washington, whose own journey powerfully reflects God’s work of turning strangers into family. Together, we will explore how the Gospel shapes our compassion and invites us to reflect the heart of Jesus to all. Learning From The Older Generation | Pastor Ben Dixon, feat. Annjanette Cummins and Craig McCann
This weekend in our Family of God series, we are taking time to honor the older generation in our church—those who have walked with Jesus faithfully and carry wisdom that strengthens the entire body. Rather than a traditional sermon, Pastor Ben will interview two trusted leaders from our NWC family, inviting them to share not only from their experience but also to help guide us in how to better honor, value, and learn from the older saints in our church and broader community. Scripture calls us to stand in the presence of the aged and to seek wisdom from those who have gone before us, and today we posture our hearts to listen, learn, and celebrate the gift they continue to be in God’s family. A Biblical Framework for Parenting | Pastor Ben Dixon
Parenting is more than a responsibility—it’s a sacred calling. God entrusts parents to shape hearts, model faith, and prepare the next generation to follow Jesus. Scripture gives us a clear framework for how to do this well, which is captured in today’s message through six words: SHOW, TEACH, LOVE, GUARD, DISCIPLINE, and PREPARE. The Culture of God's Family | Pastor Ben Dixon
Every family has a culture—an atmosphere shaped by what they value and how they live. In Romans 12, Paul paints a picture of what the culture of God’s family is meant to look like. It’s not defined by the world’s standards, but by the mercy of God that has transformed our lives. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live differently—with humility, service, love, and grace. The culture of God’s family is a culture of transformation from the inside out, where renewed hearts create a renewed community that reflects the character of Christ to the world around us. The Foundation of God's Family | Pastor Ben Dixon
When the Church was born in Acts 2, it wasn’t built on personalities or programs — it was built on Jesus and a people who were fully devoted to Him. The early believers formed a spiritual family that was grounded in truth, united in love, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This week, we’re looking at the foundation that made the Church strong — repentance, faith, community, prayer, and generosity — and how those same values still hold the family of God together today. Faithful To Our Field | Pastor Ben Dixon
This weekend we celebrate all that God has done through Northwest Church this past year. Yet with our celebration comes an exhortation: stay faithful! Northwest Church is a hospital for the broken, a well for the thirsty, a training ground for harvest workers, and a Gospel resource for our region and the world. From generation to generation, the flame of God’s Spirit has spread through us—and it still burns today. We are not here to cast a new vision, but to ask God to give us a renewed heart for the vision He has already entrusted to us. And as we strengthen our commitment to the mission—to see the lost saved and disciples made—we stand expectant for a move of God greater than anything we’ve ever seen before. The Family God Is Building | Pastor Ben Dixon
Today we’re kicking off a brand-new series called The Family of God. And here’s the big idea: when God saves us, He doesn’t just rescue us as individuals and send us on our way—He brings us into a family. The church isn’t a club, it’s not a crowd, it’s not just a Sunday event—it’s God’s household. That’s what makes following Jesus both beautiful and challenging. Beautiful, because you’re no longer on the outside looking in —you belong. Challenging, because family takes work—it requires forgiveness, commitment, and love. Over the next several weeks, we’re going to see what it really means to be the family of God—how we relate to one another, how we welcome others in, and how we live out our mission together. But today, we’re going to start where Paul starts in Ephesians 2—by remembering where we came from, celebrating what Jesus has done to bring us near, and seeing that God is still building us together as His family. We are Prayer Warriors | Pastor Ben Dixon
Prayer is not a side activity for the Christian—it is our battlefield, our lifeline, and one of our greatest weapons. In every generation, God looks for prayer warriors who will push back darkness by calling on God to do what only He can. Genesis 18 gives us a powerful picture in Abraham, who stood before the Lord and interceded for an entire city as he contended for his relatives. Today, God is still looking for men and women who will hear His voice, take a stand, fight in the Spirit, and persevere in prayer until we see God’s answer. Freedom From the Power of Greed | Pastor Ben Dixon
We live in a world that constantly tells us we need MORE to be happy, important, and secure. But Jesus offers us a radically different way to live. In Luke chapter 12, He warns us about the deceptive and destructive power of greed—a condition of the heart that enslaves us to our stuff and separates us from what truly matters. In our message today, we will confront the lies we often believe about money and possessions and embrace the practices that lead to freedom, generosity, and a life that is rich toward God. Rekindle Your Flame | Pastor Ben Dixon
We have all experienced times in our life when the fire of our faith begins to fade—whether through discouragement, distraction, or simply the ups and downs of life. In 2 Timothy 1:6–7, the Apostle Paul urges Timothy to reject spiritual passivity and fan into flame a fresh passion for the gifts and calling that God had given him. Through this passage, we are challenged to rekindle our spiritual passion, to reject fear, and to embrace the work and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are expecting God to stir up a fresh fire in our hearts again! Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:1-7 Series: Stand Alone Sermons Thank you for Joining. God Owns It - We Manage It | Pastor Ben Dixon
Everything we have—our money, time, talents, and even our testimony—ultimately belongs to God. He is the owner; we are the managers. In the parable of the talents, Jesus teaches us a powerful truth: God entrusts each of us with resources, not to bury or waste, but to steward wisely and faithfully. Stewardship isn’t just about money—it’s about how we manage everything God has placed in our hands. And one day, we will each give an account for how we lived, invested, and served. The way we steward what God has given us doesn’t just impact today—it carries eternal significance. Stewardship is not just a financial principle; it’s a spiritual responsibility. How Does God View Money? | Pastor Ben Dixon
The Bible talks about money a lot. I bet that many of us don’t realize that more than 2300 verses in the Bible discuss money and at least 12 of Jesus’ parables deal with money directly or indirectly. Money is more than a form of currency we exchange for goods and services. It has the power to do great harm or bring about great good. This is why we can often feel uncomfortable talking about it because it gets to something much deeper inside all of us. As we launch our series called “Jesus, Money and Stuff” we want to ask the question, “How does God view money?” Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Romans 12:2, Matthew 6:19-21 Series: Jesus, Money and Stuff Connect Card - https://nwc.churchcenter.com/people/forms/118663 For more information visit www.BenDixon.org
