Practical Bible Study
by Dr. Dawn-Elise Snipes
Good Orderly Direction can be used to help people remember to use their energy in a way that continues to move toward a rich and meaningful life of #abundance. While I personally believe in God, I also believe that the #bible can be an excellent tool to help anyone be happier and healthier. This #Biblestudy channel focuses on tools *anyone* can use, and does not require a belief in a higher power. In addition to life lessons about health like the importance of proper hygiene, infection control, food storage, and use of herbs and plants for healing (frankincense, myrrh, honey,) the bible also contains many practical tips for improving mental wellbeing including #cognitivebehavioraltherapy tools like radical acceptance, balancing #dialectics , respect, hardiness, patience, forgiveness, setting and maintaining healthy #boundaries and compassion.

Esau Gives Jacob His Birthright | Genesis 25 Bible Study | Impulsiveness
#biblestudy #Impulsiveness #JacobandEsau #mindfulness doc snipes provides #cognitivebehavioral tools for #pastoralcounseling Isaac and Rebekah had Esau and Jacob. Twins who fought even in the womb. God said to her, “Two nations are in your body. Two tribes are now inside you and will be separated. One nation will be stronger than the other. The older son will serve the younger one.” Esau became a hunter. Jacob was a quiet man who stayed at home. Sometimes what we expect does not come to pass. (Esau to be the leader) Two people from the same place can go in different directions. We all must find our path. How can you avoid getting in situations in which you are “famished” or overly “thirsty” and tempted to take the first source of comfort that comes along? Jacob had a scarcity mentality and Esau had no distress tolerance. How does G-O-D especially Prudence, earnestness, respect, truthfulness and compassion help you make better choices. Breathe Evaluate the situation Think about options and consequences Act tentatively How might Jacob and Esau's behavior impact their parents? Did they even think about that? Isaac and Rebekah | Genesis 24 Bible Study | Good Orderly Direction
#biblestudy #IsaacandRebekah doc snipes provides #cognitivebehavioral tools for #pastoralcounseling This is one of my favorite stories for living a PERFECT live guided by Good Orderly Direction. (Patience, Earnestness, Respect, Endurance, Compassion and Truthfulness are all demonstrated by the characters) 24 Abraham was now very old, and the Lord had blessed him in every way. 2 He said to the senior servant in his household, “Put your hand under my thigh. 3 I want you to swear to God that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, 4 but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac…but 6 make sure that you do not take my son back there. 10 Then the servant left, taking with him ten of Abraham’s camels loaded with all kinds of good things and made his way to the town of Nahor. 11 He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water. He put himself in a position where opportunity could knock. In what ways do you make yourself open to opportunities of abundance? 17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” 18 “Drink, my lord,” she said, and lowered the jar giving him a drink. 19 After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” Random acts of kindness seem to be so rare these days. People are “too busy to be bothered” This foreshadows (Mt 25:40 “What you did for the least of these, you did for me”) Why does Rebekah do this? 26 Then the man bowed down and worshiped [God for helping him fulfill his mission.] How does the servant’s respect, earnestness and selflessness toward God, Abraham and Isaac increase his abundance? Self esteem? 22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out several gold tokens. 23 Then he asked, “Who is your father and is there room in his house for us to spend the night?” 24 She answered I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, [and yes, there is room] and the story continues... Principles Prudence: Not just anyone. Letting Rebekah go sooner than they wanted. Earnestness: Fulfilling his promise to Abraham to the best of his abilities. Rebekah being the best person she could Respect for God, Abraham, Isaac, Rebekah and her family by Abraham, Isaac, the Servant, Rebekah and family Endurance: It took courage to fulfill his mission Compassion & Selflessness by the servant as well as Rebekah toward the servant and livestock Chapters: 00:00:01 - Finding a Wife for Isaac 00:02:04 - Making Yourself Open to Abundance 00:02:39 - The Servant's Prayer 00:03:31 - What Do You Look for in Relationships? 00:04:06 - Showing Respect in Your Relationships 00:04:14 - The Success of the Senior Servant 00:04:26 - Acts of Kindness 00:05:08 - The Importance of Mindfulness and Compassion 00:06:08 - Acts of Kindness and Selflessness 00:08:30 - The servant's role in supporting Abraham and Isaac 00:09:04 - Increasing self-esteem through benefiting others 00:09:23 - Sharing the news with Rebecca's family 00:09:44 - Labon's response to the man's gifts 00:10:01 - Hospitality for the man and his camels 00:10:08 - Welcoming the man as part of their group 00:10:42 - The Respectful Servant 00:11:09 - Respecting Limited Resources 00:11:56 - Assertively Negotiating 00:12:33 - Knowing When to Walk Away 00:12:56 - Respect for Boundaries and Saying No 00:14:58 - Jacob and Esau's devastating consequences 00:17:15 - Prudence and Earnestness 00:19:32 - Qualities of Endurance and Compassion in the Story Learn more about your ad choices. ABOUT THIS SHOW
Good Orderly Direction can be used to help people remember to use their energy in a way that continues to move toward a rich and meaningful life of #abundance.
