Breaking Animal News: The Spywhale Who Might Just Be Better at Making Friends Than We Are

Brant & Sherri pause their regularly scheduled chatter to bring you some very important breaking animal news — because when a beluga whale shows up wearing what looks suspiciously like spy gear, you don’t just keep that to yourself.Off the coast of Norway, a friendly “spywhale” has been spotted cozying up to humans, sporting a halter that suggests it may have once been on the payroll of the Russian defense ministry. Brant & Sherri report that this unusually social beluga not only enjoys human company but even lets people boop its nose, which is apparently not standard beluga protocol. No wild theories here — just Brant and Sherri marveling at a possibly ex‑military whale who really, really loves attention.

    Honorary Doctorate: Emptying Husband's Pockets

On the Brant Hansen Show, even an ordinary Tuesday can turn into “graduation day.” In classic Brant fashion, honorary doctorates are being handing out to listeners whose everyday skills deserve a spotlight. For this episode, for example, we have:Maria Esposito Weed earned her PhD for the heroic act of rescuing ink pens from her husband’s shirt pockets before laundry disasters strikeKelly Ara received her doctorate for an unwavering commitment to completing customer experience surveys. Click play for more!

    Honorary Doctorate: Spoiling Baby Goats

On the Brant Hansen Show, even an ordinary Tuesday can turn into “graduation day.” In classic Brant fashion, honorary doctorates are being handing out to listeners whose everyday skills deserve a spotlight. This episode’s standout scholar?A listener requesting a doctorate in spoiling baby goats — a field so niche that Brant briefly misheard it as “spoiling baby ghosts,” which, honestly, would’ve raised even more questions. But misunderstanding aside, the committee (which is just Brant and Sherri laughing) agreed she has absolutely earned her honorary status, tears over sold goats and all.

    Honorary Doctorate: Bulletin Layouts

Brant and Sherri’s beloved “institution of higher learning” — the ever‑improvised Brant Hanson Show State University Tech, A&M — is back in session, and the honorary doctorates are rolling out faster than they can update the clip‑art certificates.Listeners have been flooding the phone lines to nominate themselves, and this week’s graduating class is a masterpiece: Heidi Hackney earns her degree in church‑bulletin layout excellenceJanae Wilson is honored for her unsolicited but enthusiastic driving coachingJen Malone receives a well‑deserved doctorate for surviving her first homeschool graduate. It’s academia… but with way more laughter and significantly fewer accreditation standards.

  5. 947

    Honorary Doctorate: Veggie Tales

Graduation season always brings big feelings, and Brant & Sherri are fully prepared to cry over nieces, nephews, and probably anyone wearing a cap and gown.In the spirit of all this emotion, they’ve officially declared their show a “doctorate‑granting institution,” where the standards are low, the degrees are imaginary, and the only requirement is that you’re awesome at something — anything.Listeners were invited to call in and claim their honorary expertise, which is exactly what Evan did.Fresh off his real college graduation, he requested a doctorate in Veggie Tales, proudly declaring himself the top scholar in his friend group.Brant immediately granted it, reacting with the kind of heartfelt enthusiasm usually reserved for actual diplomas, proving once again that this is the most supportive fake university on the planet.

  6. 946

    Honorary Doctorate: Delayed Argument

Graduation season has officially arrived at the most prestigious, loosely organized, completely imaginary institution in the nation: The Brant Hansen Show State University Tech Institute, Inc. A&M.In true “willy‑nilly university” fashion, Brant and Sherri are once again handing out honorary doctorates with all the pomp of a real ceremony… plus clip art. This week’s distinguished “graduates” include Carolyn Torrella, honored for her remarkable ability to think of the perfect comeback days after an argument, and Shelly Grindy, who earned a double doctorate for both moving half a ton of base rock in a day and locating a black cat in the dark like a superhero.

Brant's Take on Aesop's Fable of the Lion with the Thorn in it's Paw

You think you remember Aesop’s fable—sweet boy, injured lion, mutual gratitude. But in this version, the lion doesn’t just remember the kindness… he comes back years later wearing a tailored suit, carrying a briefcase, and offering pro bono legal services because that thorn “really opened doors.”It’s the kind of peculiar twist that makes you wonder why more classic stories don’t end with surprise courtroom representation.

When Your Story Matters More Than You Think, with Willow Weston

If you’ve ever looked at the twists and turns of your life and wondered, “How could any of this possibly count for something good?”—you’re not alone. That’s exactly why the Collide Spring Conference is leaning into the theme Make It Count, reminding women that every chapter—beautiful, messy, unexpected, and everything in between—can be used by Jesus in powerful ways. With inspiring speakers, real stories from local women, and a night designed to refresh your soul, this is the kind of gathering that meets you right where you are and reminds you that your life has purpose.

Feeling Like an Outsider? You’re Not Alone

Ever had that sense that everyone else got the social rulebook and you somehow missed the distribution day? You’re not the only one who’s walked through school—or life—feeling like an observer instead of a participant. What Brant shares here is a reminder that being on the outside can actually open the door to some of the most genuine, meaningful connections you’ll ever make.

A Race With Heart: Hills and Valleys 2026

Hills and Valleys 2026 isn’t just a four‑and‑a‑half‑mile race—it’s a chance to come together as a community and turn sweat, mud, and a few fun obstacles into real support for a family walking through a tough season. With scenic views, balloons, bubbles, and every registration dollar going directly to the Bauman family (Jeremy was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition, Autoimmune Cerebellar Ataxia.), this event reminds us that even our small steps can make a big difference.Whether you run, walk, volunteer, or cheer from the sidelines, you’re helping someone else navigate their own hills and valleys.Website: https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Sumas/HillsValleys

Brant Hansen on the Soothing Sounds of Nature (Some Restrictions Apply)

There’s nothing quite like learning that science says nature sounds can lower stress, ease pain, and boost your mental health. Lovely, right? Peaceful waterfalls… gentle rain… maybe a soft breeze through the trees. But when you work in the “sound business,” like Brant and Sherri do, you can’t just leave it at that. Oh no. Brant wants to help everyone relax by offering the soothing ambiance of bees. Yes. Followed by the calming hum of a box of baby bobcats. Because nothing says serenity like imagining yourself surrounded by stingers and tiny, furious kittens."Just relax and let it wash over yourself."Sherri, naturally, isn't buying it.Click PLAY for the convo!

God Has Perfect Peace and is Never Caught Off Guard

If you’ve ever imagined God scrambling in heaven—calling an emergency meeting, angels rushing around with clipboards, everyone trying to figure out what to do about your latest crisis—it’s a funny picture, but it couldn’t be further from reality. God is never surprised, never caught off guard, never muttering, “Well… I didn’t see that coming.”Instead, Scripture paints a completely different image: God is steady, unshaken, joyful, and at peace. While we may feel overwhelmed, He never is. And that’s exactly why He becomes the safest place to run when life feels anything but calm. When everything in us wants to panic, He invites us into the peace that comes from knowing the One who is never rattled by what rattles us.

Sunshine, Tulips, and Spring Joy at Lakeland Flowers

Thanks to a streak of glorious sunshine, Lakeland Flowers in Abbotsford decided spring just couldn’t wait—so the tulip fields opened early, bursting into color like they hit “fast‑forward” on the season. With millions of tulips (yes, millions!) in nearly 100 varieties, it’s basically a real‑life rainbow growing on the old Sumas Lake bed. And with long hours, evening piano music drifting through the fields, and food trucks waiting to feed your adventure, it’s the kind of spring outing that feels equal parts joy and totally doable for families, couples, and anyone who just needs a little color in their week.

Breaking Animal News: The Moose Who Just Wanted a Snack and a Movie

A moose wandering into a movie theater is already wild, but the way this one casually followed the velvet ropes like it was late for its own showtime is next‑level.Honestly, who among us hasn’t marched straight to the concession stand after a long day, ready to demolish the nearest popcorn bucket without making eye contact. And the moose leaving just as calmly as it arrived feels like the ultimate “I came, I snacked, I’m done with people now” energy we all aspire to.

  17. 935

A $1,000 Tip in the Middle of Chaos

So there’s this Mexican restaurant up in Kent, Ohio, and one Saturday night everything that could go wrong absolutely did. Orders backed up, people waited for hours, and the restaurant later described the whole night on Facebook as “complete amateur chaos,” which—honestly—might be the most honest restaurant post ever written. But here’s the part that stopped me: a couple sat there for three hours, never got food, never got drinks… and still left a $1,000 tip on their way out. That kind of undeserved kindness is such a picture of grace—because if we’re honest, we’re all that restaurant sometimes, failing spectacularly, and God keeps being good to us anyway.

  18. 934

Saying Yes to God’s Invitation to Partner with Him

Sometimes God drops a simple idea into your day that hits deeper than you expect, and that’s exactly what happened when I heard someone describe Scripture as the story of a God who keeps looking for partners. He keeps inviting imperfect people into His work, not because they’re flawless, but because He loves to work through willing hearts. That thought stuck with me so much that it even shaped my prayer:“Lord, if You’re still looking for partners… yes. You know I’m a sinner, but the answer is still yes.”It’s a reminder that God isn’t asking for perfection—just availability.

  19. 933

Animal News: Cat Living Quadruple Life

I was emotionally unprepared for today’s breaking animal news, which involves a man discovering his beloved cat starring—quite confidently—in real estate photos of a house down the street.Turns out “Freddy” has been living a bold, unapologetic quadruple life, complete with multiple families and apparently zero shame.Honestly, I can’t decide what hurts more: the betrayal… or the fact that the cat didn’t even try to hide it.

  20. 932

    Spiritual Amnesia

Some days it feels like we’re all walking around with “spiritual amnesia,” forgetting the very things God just proved He could handle.Sherri found an old journal entry from a year before she took her current job—full of confusion, stress, and a shaky decision to trust God—and seeing how He worked it all out brought her to tears. If I’d been journaling back then, mine probably would’ve just said, “Lord, please send me a smart, theologically solid, funny coworker,” and, well… look how that turned out.Click PLAY for faithful reminders on trusting Jesus in all things.

  21. 931

The Universal Worldwide Look of Disapproval

Picture this: scientists spend years studying human behavior across continents, cultures, and time zones… only to officially confirm what every mom has been silently broadcasting since the dawn of creation. Apparently, no matter where you go—from Norway’s fjords to the bottom edge of Argentina—everyone instinctively understands The Look. You know the one. The “I saw what you just did, and I am deeply, cosmically unimpressed” face.Researchers call it a universal nonverbal cue.I call it “Tuesday.”

  22. 930

Easter Sunrise Celebration: Praising the Risen King Together with Calvary Chapel NW at the NW WA Fairgrounds

There’s just something about an Easter sunrise service that hits different—maybe it’s the coffee, maybe it’s the cold air, or maybe it’s the reminder that the Son really did rise.Lynette and Pastor Tom are inviting Whatcom County to bundle up, show up, and celebrate Jesus as the resurrection and the life at the NW WA Fairground bleachers bright and early. If you’re craving hope, community, and a front‑row seat to God’s goodness (rain or shine), this will be the most meaningful way to start your Easter morning.

Celebrating Our March Gladness Winner: Martha!

A heartfelt congratulations to Martha, whose March Gladness has truly touched our hearts!"I am so thankful that we serve a God who is abundant in his grace, love, and mercy." Thank you for reminding us of the ultimate gladness we have in God!Martha will be receiving a Walton Beverage Gladness Box, which includes an instant camera, picnic basket, prayer journal, conversation game, and Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card…plus an extra box to share with a friend!

  24. 928

    Weight‑Room Weak, Grocery‑Bag Strong

Ever wondered what truly fuels the male ego? According to Brant, it’s not bench‑pressing a small car or having biceps that enter the room before you do — it’s the sacred art of carrying every single grocery bag in one trip, fingers turning purple but pride fully intact. Brant explains that while he may not be “weight‑room strong,” he is absolutely “haul‑17‑bags‑from‑the‑car strong,” which, in his world, is the highest possible honor.Click PLAY for the full convo.

    Why Should I Even Pray?

If you're struggling to know, why should I even pray? I understand feeling that way. I thought that way growing up. "Well, He already knows everything about what's going on." But that's looking at it mathematically almost, through this hyper logical lens. The truth is you actually read the Bible, you find God being really responsive in conversation with people.Read the conversation He has with Moses on Sinai, for instance, or with Abraham. The back and forth stuff when people are being genuine is amazing. I don't want to miss that. And I ask Him to please help me know how to pray better. That's something too you can ask Him. I know He wants to know us.

  26. 926

The Day the News Took a Nap (and the Piano Took Over)

Brant, our resident “shock jock” who is only shocking in the sense that he occasionally remembers historical dates, kicks things off by retelling the story of one glorious day in 1930 when the BBC basically shrugged, said “Yeah… nothing’s happening,” and filled the news slot with piano music instead. This concept Sherri immediately endorses because honestly, who among us wouldn’t trade today’s headlines for a little background jazz.

    Our Habits Determine Our Future

People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures. -F.M. AlexanderWe all love dreaming about our future selves, but Brant & Sherri remind us that it’s our everyday habits—not the big plans—that quietly steer the ship. Even if they’re not totally sure who FM Alexander is, they’re all in on the idea that what we repeatedly think and do shapes where we end up.

  29. 923

The Art of Not Getting Pulled Into Everything

Some situations practically beg for us to jump in and fix them, even when they’re not really ours to manage. Brant & Sherri remind us that pausing to ask whether our involvement actually helps can save a lot of stress. And for those who lean on faith, sometimes the wisest move is stepping back and trusting God to handle what we don’t need to carry.

  30. 922

Chuck E. Cheese: Where Pizza Meets Pandemonium and the Police

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you mix flashing lights, unlimited tickets, and other people’s children, Brant & Sherri have the answer—and it apparently involves police sirens. Turns out Chuck E. Cheese isn’t just serving pizza; it’s serving full‑blown gladiator energy.

  31. 921

Burger King CEO Shares His Phone Number and Brant Immediately Turns It Into a Royal Recruitment

Brant and Sherri kick things off by unpacking the boldest customer‑service move in fast‑food history: the Burger King CEO handing out his phone number like a coupon. Naturally, Brant treats this as an invitation, leaving Tom a voicemail pitching the greatest crossover in fast‑food history—buying Grimace, the big purple free agent McDonald’s keeps forgetting they have, and crowning him the new Burger King. Because nothing says “marketing genius” like a royal purple blob choosing better fries.Click PLAY to get the scoop here!

  32. 920

Breaking Animal News: Llamas in England Capture Thief

Brant and Sherri have breaking news that suggests animals are about three weeks away from running the justice system: eight llamas in England allegedly surrounded a fleeing thief, screamed their official llama siren, and then calmly escorted him to police like woolly hall monitors with badges. Sherri questions the legitimacy of Brant's news, but of course Brant is absolutely convinced it is, and the llamas—somewhere in a field—are probably drafting their union contract.Click PLAY for the crime-fighting play by play!

  33. 919

Brant Hansen on the Disco Disaster on Wheels

A bus ride took a hard left turn into disco-fueled chaos when one passenger put “Freak Out” on repeat—prompting several grandmas to do exactly that. Brant swears everyone survived, but the song definitely didn’t.

  34. 918

When Humility Has the Loudest Voice

Paul’s humility hits differently when you remember he wrote most of the New Testament, yet never once did he try to brand himself as “The Apostle Paul.” Instead, he chose titles like servant of Christ and even chief of sinners, reminding us that greatness in God’s kingdom is never about spotlight or status. It’s a quiet nudge to lay down our own need to be impressive, and pick up the joy of simply belonging to Jesus.Click PLAY for Brant & Sherri's convo.

Behind the Music, Movie & Book: Lynette Interviews Bart Millard

Bart Millard is back with a brand‑new chapter of storytelling, and this time I Can Only Imagine 2 dives into the real‑life journey behind “Even If” and his family’s battle with his son’s early diabetes diagnosis. Between the movie and his new book, Bart shows how faith, honesty, and a whole lot of heart can turn even the hardest seasons into something beautifully redemptive.

  36. 916

    A Better Day is Coming

It’s completely normal to feel like a tough season is never going to end. When life is heavy, it’s hard to imagine anything different. But the heart of this message is a gentle reminder: if you’re trusting God, you’re not stuck. Better days are coming. Not just a little better—layer‑after‑layer better, like stepping into a bigger, brighter world each time.We get small glimpses of joy here, hints of something so much richer ahead. So if you’re in the middle of something hard and it feels endless, take a breath. It won’t last forever. There’s more hope, more goodness, and more life on the way.

    Your Prayers are Good Enough

There’s something so sweet about the way kids proudly hand you their drawings—no perfection, no pressure, just pure connection. In this episode, Brant and Sherri use that simple moment to remind us that prayer works the same way: God isn’t grading our words or waiting for us to “get it right.” Like a loving parent, He delights in the effort, the honesty, and the heart behind every prayer we bring.

  40. 912

God is Not Far Away - He is Right there With You

We all have moments when God feels far away, like we’re sending up a long‑distance call and hoping He picks up. But in this episode, Brant & Sherri remind us of a much gentler truth: God isn’t distant at all—He’s as close as your next breath. The kingdom of heaven is right here, and God is already near, simply waiting for us to turn toward Him.

  41. 911

    Brant Hansen on Short Prayers

Some days we have time for long, lingering prayers—and other days all we can manage is a quick, “Lord, I need You.” The beautiful thing is that Scripture reminds us those short, specific, urgent prayers still matter deeply. Whether you’re walking into a tough meeting, facing a hard conversation, or just trying to get through the day, a simple, honest cry for help is enough to bring God right into the moment with you.

  42. 910

Don't Discount Yourself - You Were Placed Here on Purpose

Sometimes we’re so quick to overlook our own worth, brushing off the idea that we matter as much as everyone else seems to. But the truth is quieter and far more beautiful: you’re here because God wanted you here. You’re part of His vision for a world filled with beauty, peace, and purpose, and your presence in it is no accident.

Love is on the Air Winner: Kim and David

Congrats to Kim and David—our Love Is on the Air Winners! They’re getting a sweet overnight getaway, dinner at Bow & Stern, and even a little Amazon shopping spree for any last‑minute Valentine’s Day touches, thanks to our friends at Walton Beverage! Here is the sweet entry that melted our hearts:"Love Our 40 years together. We were young and full of hope, and we had everything the world had to offer. Family played a big role in my life, and after a few years of marriage, we decided as a couple that we needed to move away to truly become one. We were young and deeply in love. We packed up our lives and moved to another province, stepping into the unknown, hand in hand. We learned of each other as every new couple does. We found a new church and leaned on our love for one another, trusting it to grow – and it did. Before we knew it, 10 years had passed. We became concerned because there were no children yet. We did everything we could to understand why. And learned that we were unable to have children, and so (my husband) loved me even more, filling that space with love.We shared our lives in simple ways, metal detecting, hiking, and picnics—but it was often the quiet things that meant the most: a soft touch of the hand or a quick kiss, a whisper of “I love you.” Those gestures were enough to fill my whole heart. As time passed, it felt right to move back closer to family on the West Coast. The year we moved back, we found out a month later that we were pregnant. 8-10 weeks later, we lost the child. We grieved together and moved forward, trusting that there are reasons for everything. 30 yrs later, I still love his smile. I still love the way he reaches for my hand, that same special touch. I feel his silent prayers for me and his constant care, and as much happiness and love as he can give, and I, always the doting wife, making sure he feels as much love as I can give. Communicating played a big part in our life together. Our 40-year marriage is coming up this March. With God before us and living in His will, we will continue to share what is truly special, always meeting each other's needs through this life together. Just you, me and God! Happy Valentine’s Day, Husband."Congratulations Kim and David! Wishing you a very lovely Valentine’s Day weekend, courtesy of our friends at Walton Beverage!

The Town Name So Long It Deserves Its Own Zip Code

Have you ever stumbled across a town name so long it feels like someone fell asleep on their keyboard? That’s exactly what Sherri and I got into—specifically an 85‑letter New Zealand town name that I’m convinced requires both a linguistics degree and a hydration break to pronounce.
