How Direct Primary Care Works With Insurance!

Today, we are joined by the owner of RevMed, Dr. Dan Moore. Dr. Dan is a local, on-call Direct Primary Care physician in Richmond, Virginia.  Also joining us is Christian Mosier who is the President of a health benefit solution firm called BenX Consulting Group. Direct primary care is an increasingly popular option for covering the cost of medical care. It’s an agreement you make directly with your provider and it doesn’t use insurance claims. Typically, this type of membership covers the cost of routine screenings, management of chronic conditions, and acute-care visits. But, If you have a Direct Primary Care plan, you may also need a high-deductible health plan to cover the cost of emergency or hospital services. We thought it would be helpful for our listeners to have a conversation with both a Direct Primary Care Physician and an expert in the health insurance world to better explain how these two things can best work together. What are Pass-Through Entity Taxes?

Business owners! The PTET could be significant as you start working on your 2023 taxes!  Under Virginia law, pass-through entities (PTEs) can choose to pay Virginia income tax at the entity level, and eligible owners of the PTE can receive corresponding credits. Eating Disorders & Anxiety

Cedar -Richmond Center for Eating and Anxiety Disorders offers expert eating and anxiety care in a comforting environment.  They use evidenced based treatments with a team of Therapists, Dietitians, Coaches and Mentors. Richmond Center for Eating Disorders was created in 2021, based on the alarming rise of eating disorders in the community and the overwhelming requests for care following the pandemic. One of their early objectives was to make eating disorder recovery at home accessible and effective. They intended to grow their center to offer needed resources and yet stay small enough to provide excellent and compassionate care.In 2023, it became abundantly clear that anxiety disorders were also on the rise and they reevaluated the ways in which their organization could help the community. They wrapped in more services to address anxiety and officially changed their name to CEDAR - Richmond Center for Eating and Anxiety Disorders. CEDAR comes from the anagram for Richmond Center for Eating and Anxiety Disorders. Listen in as Founders Julie Guild and Julie Knopp discuss with host Jess Ellett how this approachable, evidenced based outpatient treatment is helping families and individuals in our community. Goats & Gourds!

Kristin Peck joins Jess Ellett on River City Podcast to talk about what The Areola Restoration Center is doing to help women be fully restored physically and emotionally with 3D Nipple Tattooing Post Mastectomy. They also discuss the educational need in our country for both the medical community and the survivor community to understand that there is a legal right to have full restoration and it is usually paid for by  insurance. This is all possible because of the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) that was signed into federal law on   October 21, 1998. Since the passage of this law, many thousands of women have had reconstructive surgery after mastectomy but many still don't know that this is possible.  Kristins new nonprofit, Warriors Inked, is helping shine a light on the legal rights we have to get this procedure done.  And in celebration of the anniversary, The Areola Restoration Center & Goat Yoga RVA are coming together to have a fundraiser event called Goats & Goards on October 21st, 2023.  Kristin talks about the event which will include 45 minute goat yoga classes with baby Nigerian dwarf goats, a boobie bar, live music, pumpkin and gourd painting and magic by Jackson deShazo.  This class is suitable for all levels; from first timers to advanced yogis.
