Episode 86. 2018 Wrap up Pt. 5. Jolly Bimbachi

Back in 2017, I first spoke to Left Behind Mother Jolly Bimbachi about how her boys were taken by their father to Lebanon. Shortly after our conversation she went to Lebanon to see her boys. While there she made a daring escape attempt with the boys with the plan of going across Syria into Turkey. Unfortunately she was detained by ISIS affiliates. This is the story of how she escaped, but unfortunately not with her sons. This is the second episode that was nominated for an Australian Podcast award. Episode 81. ‘Dear Sophie’

I’m very excited to bring you this weeks episode for two reasons. First. For the first time I interview four people at the same time and it actually worked. Second and most importantly I discuss with my guests an amazing new initiative to raise awareness of parental alienation. The ‘Dear Sophie’ song and website. So with my guests Ray Groundland, Stephen Best, Britizen Kane (AKA Andrew) and Danny Scott, we talk about the hip hop song ‘Dear Sophie’ That was written and performed by Britizen Kane and Danny Scott, the song is about an Alienated Father trying to reach out to his daughter, and very effectively presents events and emotions many alienated children and parents experience. With the song, the lads have also launched a new website and campaign to bring more attention to Parental Alienation. I’m also very pleased to be able to give you a sneak preview of the song before it’s official release on January 25. Sorry for the Late release of this weeks show, I’ve been having some computer problems. But this week, I’m presenting a short episode, featuring the audio of a discussion Andrew Teague with a suicide survivor. Andrew’s words – Owing to the non-impact out there to the suicide rate connected to Family courts, I thought this short documentary could help some people. This was not pre-planned, we did this off the cuff in one take with a father that wished to stay anonymous but wanted to get his story out to help people in the same position he was. Please watch and share it everywhere. You are not alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaS1GwIbm3U&t=2s Join the conversation on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/lbpstoriespodcast/

Episode 74. Operation Noetic and other news.

This week I discuss some recent developments in Australia. Firstly I discuss the Australian Federal Police cracking an organised International Parental Abduction ring ‘Operation Noetic’. I also cover some media stories about changes to the family courts, and treating Parental Abduction as a crime. And due to the popularity of my Interview last week with Jennifer Harmann I present the audio from her TEDtalk. https://www.afp.gov.au/news-media/media-releases/more-charges-laid-over-group-helping-parental-abductions-children https://www.afp.gov.au/news-media/media-releases/charges-laid-over-group-helping-parental-abductions-children https://tendaily.com.au/news/crime/a181017wpg/police-swoop-on-alleged-high-level-child-abduction-operation-20181018 https://www.smh.com.au/national/three-women-charged-for-assisting-two-mothers-to-abduct-their-children-20181104-p50dv9.html https://www.couriermail.com.au/news/cops-given-power-to-tap-parents-who-are-suspected-of-abducting-their-kids/news-story/1366f07bd4f6893e19fbbd6255c0b1f4?nk=dd9ddc1df2a736fdc774e0cb5dabfc4f-1540157200 https://tendaily.com.au/news/australia/a181019rue/more-aussie-kids-embroiled-in-international-child-abductions-20181021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3YdldNXZnQ Join the conversation on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lbpstoriespodcast/

    Episode 72. Left behind Grandparents

I’ve spoken to alienated parents and children in this show but how does alienation affect grandparents? Grand parents have to deal with seeing their own child go through the pain of a break up and being alienated from their kids, whilst dealing with the double blow of also not being able to see their grand kids. For this episode I could think of no better guests than my own parents Terry and Brenda who have been cut out of the lives of 4 grandchildren from 2 of their sons. This is their story. Also, in the media in Australia it has been revealed that the Federal Police have foiled an organised parental child abduction ring https://tendaily.com.au/news/crime/a181017wpg/police-swoop-on-alleged-high-level-child-abduction-operation-20181018 https://tendaily.com.au/news/australia/a181019rue/more-aussie-kids-embroiled-in-international-child-abductions-20181021 And Australia is also changing laws to make international parental child abduction a crime. https://tendaily.com.au/news/australia/a181019rue/more-aussie-kids-embroiled-in-international-child-abductions-20181021 Music Credit – The Beatles ‘Let it be’ Join the conversation on facebook https://www.facebook.com/lbpstoriespodcast/

    Episode 68. Michael Sanchez

In 2005, Emily Machado was born to Nigia Machado and Michael Sanchez. The couple broke up before Emily was born and it took two years to work out a parenting agreement. That agreement was shattered in 2008, when mother and daughter disappeared. Sanchez sought out the help of the U.S. State Department. Sanchez found out that Machado secretly got a passport for Emily before leaving the United States. He said he believes Machado, a Brazilian citizen, fled because she was afraid the U.S. court system would take away her custodial rights because she was an illegal immigrant. There are 16 open cases right now in Brazil. Last year, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says around 2,000 children were illegally taken by a parent out of the United States. Episode 62. Jolly Bimbachi’s escape from Syria.

In October last year [episode 20] I first spoke to Canadian LBP Jolly Bimbachi about her 2 sons who were abducted by their father to Lebanon. A few weeks later she contacted me to let me know she was going to Lebanon in an attempt to see her boys. She was able to spend several weeks seeing them. Then I got a message from her to inform me that she was on the run with them, in an attempt to get to Turkey. The ensuing weeks became a life or death situation for Jolly as she was arrested and detained at gun point by Al Qaeda affiliates in Syria, and had her boys taken from her once again. This is the story of how this badass mum, was able to get out of Syria and back to Canada, but unfortunately, once again without her boys. Episode 61. International Child Recovery.

When children have been abducted internationally, many parents take the extreme measure of attempting to recover children themselves with the help of Recovery agents. But often in the media we only hear of the stories that go horribly wrong, where parents are arrested with the recovery crews. So under what circumstances is it safe and plausible to attempt a child recovery? This week I talk to two recovery experts, Eric and Pat. We discuss the circumstances under which they will take on a case, the process involved and how to know which agencies are legitimate and which are not. This is a conversation that all parents of internationally abducted children need to hear. https://abpworldgroup.com http://www.abpworld.com www.internationalrecoveryabductedchildren.com Join the conversation on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lbpstoriespodcast/

    Episode 59. Allan Freeman-Jones

Allan is the author of ‘Parental Alienation – A loving father’s lost years’. This is his story. In the space of four years Allan went from bachelor to alienated father. When it looked like Allan may have gained increased access to his son Timothy, Margaret played her trump card; the father was accused of sexually abusing his son. Upon the order of the Family Court, contact between father and son ceased. When re-established, contact was supervised. Investigations by the Department For Child Protection and the Police concluded the allegations were unfounded. Allan was saddened his son had now become a stranger to him. For the sake of his son’s mental and emotional wellbeing, seeing it as his only realistic course of action, Allan exited his son’s life. Nearly eight years have passed without any contact between Allan and Timothy. After a few false starts, Margaret’s alienation plan ultimately proved successful. Episode 55. Vikram Jagtiani

I’ve spoken on this show a few times about India. India is another ‘black hole’ for International Parental Child Abduction, and is in fact one of the top 3 in the world for abduction cases. Episode 44. Child Social Services Worker Alex Baxter.

Child social service workers are often disliked by divorced parents and organisations, especially when court proceedings are involved. But it’s a very difficult and high stress job. Making decisions that affect people’s lives, where no matter what you do someone is bound to hate you for it. So how do they make their decisions? What sort of evidence do they need? And are they aware of Parental Alienation syndrome, or even trained to deal with PAS? This week I address some of these questions with child social services worker Alex Baxter. Some may see this as speaking to someone ‘on the other side’, but Alex share’s some important insight into her profession, why she does it, and even some advice for parents going through the court system. And I think I ask her questions that many parents would like to know the answers to. Join the conversation on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lbpstoriespodcast/

Episode 41. Australian Family Law Reform.

Introduction Audio Mayim Bialik https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW__B3YCp78 The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) has released an Issues Paper for its Review of the Family Law System, and is calling for submissions from the public. The family law system is undergoing its first, independent comprehensive review since the inception of the Family Law Act 1975 more than forty years ago. Much has changed in Australian social and family life since then. For example, there are more people living together outside marriage, there are more changes in relationships and stepfamilies, reproductive technologies mean families can be formed in diverse ways, same-sex marriage is now legalised, and there is greater awareness of the prevalence of family violence and child abuse and the damage they can cause. In this episode I discuss the Issues paper and it’s content relating to IPCA and PA. And add my thoughts. This episode is a call to action for all Australians who have recently gone through the Family Courts to have their voices heard and make a difference. The time for a fairer legal system for children and parents is now. Episode 35. Michelle Littleton

Michelle Littleton’s three children, ages 6, 13, 14, were taken to Lebanon by their father on Jan. 4, 2017. The father, Mazen Fawzi Matar, has refused to return the children, despite a federal kidnapping charge and a demand to return order from the Orange Co. Superior Court. Michelle hired an attorney in Lebanon, and has won two court judgement’s in favor of the children’s concern. Notably, the December 26, 2017 ruling in Sharia law court also affirmed the mother’s full custody status and the children’s return to America will need to be won in the Lebanese Civil court proceedings coming up. Michelle has also been campaigning in the U.S. and has met with many politicians calling for law reform and assistance. ******UPDATE. Since recording this episode, just 2 days before it aired, Michelle was able to talk to her children on the phone for the first time********* Also, should LBP’s just be grateful that they had kids and just ‘buck up and move on’?
