Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 3: From Combat & Policing to First Responder Psychology #035

In this final chapter of our conversation, Chris Green shares the full arc of his journey — from combat service and law enforcement to pursuing a doctorate in first responder psychology. What begins as a reflection on career transitions quickly moves into deeper territory. Chris opens up about suicide ideation, shame, losing emotional connection on the job, and the moment he realized the badge had started to cost more than it was worth. The hard question emerges: at what cost do we keep going? This episode is not about walking away from the profession. It's about understanding it. It's about the psychological toll of combat and policing, the silence that keeps so many trapped, and the power of education and vulnerability to change the trajectory. Chris' path didn't end when he left the road. It evolved. And now his mission is helping first responders heal before they break. If you've ever felt numb, angry, disconnected, or unsure who you are without the badge, this conversation is for you. You're not broken. You're bruised. And there is a way forward.

Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 2: Patrol Shenanigans, PTSD, and Shame #034

In this episode, the conversation shifts from humor and war stories to the unseen cost of the job. What begins with patrol shenanigans and shared memories slowly gives way to something heavier — the accumulation of stress, identity, and trauma that many first responders carry quietly for years. Chris opens up about the internal pressure to perform, the fear of becoming a liability, and the moment he realized he couldn't keep going the way he was. This episode explores how discipline can turn into isolation, how reputation can trap us, and why stepping away can feel more terrifying than staying. This is an honest, unfiltered look at what happens when the job becomes your entire identity — and what it takes to admit something has to change.

Shielded Voices: Chris Green: Part 1: Chris' Marine Corp Experience Leading to Police Work #033

In this episode, we sit down with Chris Green to talk about the early experiences that shaped his life long before the uniform. Chris shares what it was like growing up between two households, navigating divorce, faith, and childhood trauma, and how those experiences influenced his sense of identity and self-worth. We explore the pressure to be tough, the fear of not being enough, and the drive to escape — a drive that eventually led him to enlist in the Marine Corps after 9/11. This conversation isn't about highlight reels or war stories. It's about the foundation — the internal wiring that forms early in life and quietly follows us into the careers we believe will fix us.

This episode dives deep into the emotional toll of toxic leadership and the culture of fear that isolates both officers and their spouses. Leanne speaks honestly about what it means to protect your family when the system meant to protect you turns its back. From faith to farm life, she opens up about how their family began healing, how they found strength in ritual, and why open communication and integrity remain non-negotiable. Midweek update: Where Trauma Meets Purpose

In this midweek update, Mitch and Brian unpack the highs, lows, and heatwaves of the week—literally and figuratively. Brian shares about the chaos of working HVAC in 90+ degree weather, while Mitch talks about the emotional weight of a recent fatal motorcycle crash and how it's reignited his interest in crash reconstruction. The two reflect on how their perspectives have shifted—especially when it comes to mental health, recovery, and self-promotion. They also spotlight Ambushed by retired Sergeant Jeremy Braun, a powerful true story of survival, faith, and trauma recovery that hits close to home. Mitch opens up about the challenges of launching Relapse Ready and what it means to build something from the ground up. There's laughter, brutal honesty, background kid noise, and a lot of heart in this one—because life doesn't pause for podcasting, and that's exactly the point.

It's about how the job changes you—and what recovery can look like when you finally stop pretending everything is fine. They also reflect on the importance of faith, family, and the quiet strength that comes from finally choosing honesty over silence. Gabe's GoFundMe Annoucement

Directly from GoFundMe: "My name is Michelle and I'm fundraising on behalf of my best friends who have just received devastating and unexpected news. Gabe has been diagnosed with a Blastoma Brain Tumor and will be out of work for the foreseeable future while a specific diagnosis is pending and a treatment plan determined. Gabe and his Wife have been together since 2015 and supported each other through many phases of life. They were engaged in 2020 and married in 2021. They purchased their first home in 2022 and welcomed their son at the end of 2023. In December 2024, just days before their son's first birthday, Gabe suffered a medical event and sought attention at the ER. Every test was negative, but his case was complicated enough to warrant an MRI. The initial MRI results uncovered a tumor. After the results had been shared with Gabe and his Wife, he experienced a Grand Mal Seizure. It was evident that he needed additional medical attention, so he was transferred to another hospital to get a biopsy completed as fast as possible. The biopsy results determined the tumor is a Blastoma, but type and grade are still to be determined. Gabe is on medication to control the seizures while awaiting further appointments with Oncology. Many have reached out and asked for a GoFundMe to support Gabe and his Wife during this stressful time. Please consider donating, and know that I will update the GoFundMe as new information becomes available." Support Gabe's GoFundMe
