One of the unique realities that Jesus shows us on Palm Sunday is that children are not just a part of God’s Kingdom, but announcers of God’s Kingdom.Jesus reveals that in His Kingdom, there is no age limit.There is no age limit to be a vessel.There is no age limit to announce “Hosanna to the Son of David.”

We are not passive spectators in our thought life.We are active participants.We have the ability and the authority to choose where we set our minds.Which means that we don’t have to wait and see what thoughts come each day. We can set our minds on things above.

Our minds are a battlefield.And we have to take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Jesus.But it’s not enough to know that at a head level.It has to work its way into how we live.So, how do we actually take our thoughts captive?Check out this teaching from our series, “Set Your Mind.”

Most of us have heard the story of Jonah and the Whale.Which means most of us skim the surface when reading it.We’re taking some time this summer to dig deeper into the story of Jonah, to see how it applies to our lives today.In Part 1, we explore the reason Jonah ran from God’s call to go to Nineveh. Which helps us see how we’re not that different from Jonah.Because we all have a Nineveh in our lives.A place or a person that’s too far outside of God’s word and ways, so we assume they are outside of God’s mercy.But the story of Jonah lets us know: Just because you’re outside of God’s word and God’s ways, doesn’t mean your outside of His ability to heal and forgive and restore.

It takes a child 10-20 times of trying a new food before they know if they like it or not.Which means just because something tastes bad at first bite, doesn’t mean it’s not good.So often in the journey following Jesus, we will be introduced to things that don’t taste good at first bite. And we can be tempted to stay away from what tastes “bad” and only eat what tastes “good.”But just because something doesn’t taste good at first bite, doesn’t mean it’s not good for us.And Jesus knows what is good.He knows what is good for us and what will grow us up to be healthy and mature.So, we have to trust Him on the journey.We have to believe that He knows what is good better than we do.And we have to be willing to trust that just because something tastes bad at first bite, doesn’t mean it’s not good for us.

What’s the first word that comes when to mind when you hear “Thomas”?Most often, doubt.Thomas doubted Jesus was alive. And the point of that story is: don’t be like Thomas.But, is the story of Thomas encountering Jesus after the resurrection just a caution for us to not doubt?Or, is this encounter between Thomas and Jesus about something deeper?Maybe the focus is less on Thomas, and more on Jesus.Maybe the focus is less on Thomas’ doubt, and more on how Jesus responds to our doubts.Because Jesus sees our doubts differently than we do.To us, doubt is bad.To Jesus, doubt is a bridge.

Jesus didn’t come as the exception.He came as the example.To show us what it means to live and love and serve.And after His resurrection, Jesus reminds His disciples that the goal wasn’t just to believe in Him.The goal was to be like Him.To go and do as He did.Just as He was sent by the Father, so now we are sent by Jesus to bear His image in the world.

In a world where leaving is easy, staying is powerful choice.When everyone else had left Jesus, one stayed.And the one who stayed, became the one to see.

One moment, you’ll go wherever Jesus leads.The next, you don’t want to go any farther.This was the experience of Jesus’ most fiery disciple, Peter.And he ultimately denied Jesus.But that wasn’t the end of the story.After the Resurrection, Jesus comes walking down the shoreline.And Peter’s life is forever changed.

Where did Jesus go after the resurrection?To find His children.And His goal wasn’t to prove anyone wrong.It was to reveal Himself to us.

Where do you go to look for life?Often we are looking everywhere besides where Jesus said we would find it.Maybe the Resurrection is a reminder that we won’t find life in dead places.Maybe the Resurrection is a declaration that abundant life is ours in Jesus.//From our Easter 2025 Sunrise Service by the river.

Is Jesus worth it?For Mary, He was worth the full bottle. He was worth pouring it all out.And the decision to pour out our entire lives to Jesus is one we make, not just once, but everyday.Because to Jesus, we were worth it all.So, the question is: is He?
