5.10.26 "The Dining Room" | Jesus, My Interior Designer | D.M. Evanger
What if your dining room is more sacred than you realized? This week at Sideris Church, we explored how Jesus used the table as one of His primary ways of bringing people into grace, friendship, healing, and reconciliation. In the Gospels, Jesus is constantly going to a meal, at a meal, or leaving one. The dining room becomes the place where status is leveled, thanksgiving is shared honestly, and grace is exchanged deeply. From the Last Supper in Luke 22 to Jesus eating with tax collectors and sinners, we see a Savior who came “eating and drinking” as part of His mission to seek and save the lost. Around the table, enemies become friends, strangers become family, and heaven’s hospitality breaks into the present moment. In this message, we reflect on: • Why conviction is a gift, not a guilt trip • What it means to build life on the rock by hearing and doing Jesus’ words • How shared meals become spaces of reconciliation and grace • Why the table matters so deeply in the Kingdom of God • Practical ways to redesign our schedules, homes, and habits around hospitality As we redesign our lives around Jesus’ way, we begin bringing our future heavenly home into the present one meal at a time. Scripture References: Luke 22 Luke 7:33–34 Matthew 7:24–27 Mark 10:45 Luke 19:10 If this message encouraged you, consider subscribing, sharing it with a friend, or inviting someone to your table this week.

5.10.26 "The Dining Room" | Jesus, My Interior Designer | D.M. Evanger
Luke 7:34 “The Son of Man has come eating and drinking…” What if your dining room is more sacred than you realized? In the Gospels, Jesus is constantly going to a meal, at a meal, or leaving one. 5.3.26 "The Living Room" | Jesus, My Interior Designer | D.M. Evanger
Hebrews 13:1-8 -- Room #2 -- The Living Room The central theme of this teaching series is that Christians are called to let Jesus Christ, as their spiritual "interior designer," intentionally rearrange the priorities, habits, and hospitality of their lives to mirror the kingdom of heaven. The home serves as a metaphor for the human soul and daily conduct. Much like a physical house, your life contains various "rooms"—representing your finances, time, and relationships—that Jesus desires to renovate. By partnering your personal agency with His divine guidance, you allow your present earthly existence to gradually resemble your future heavenly one. This process is not about earning salvation; rather, it is an act of worship that reflects God’s glory to a world in need. When we ignore this redesign, we risk living in a way that obscures God's character, potentially misrepresenting the nature of faith to those around us. Living out this faith is impossible on your own, which is why we must rely on the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Embracing conviction is a "portal to transformation," not a sign of failure. By remaining in constant communication with Jesus through every small decision, you deepen your relationship with Him. Ultimately, when we open our lives to His design, we fulfill our purpose as image-bearers of God, shining a light that reveals His creative genius to the world. 4.26.26 "The Front Porch" | Jesus, My Interior Designer | D.M. Evanger
Colossians 3:1–4 and Romans 12:1-2 ... Front Porch living makes us much more “incarnational” and “interruptible” but is also much less private and controllable... which is why so many of us moved our lives to the backyard, both literally and spiritually. Listen in on the introductory sermon for this new series as we discuss the big picture and the first "room" in our series on spiritual interior design. If this first episode is any indicator, it should be fun and wild ride!

4.12.26 Ascension Sunday “What Is the Ascension, Why Does it Matter?” | D.M. Evanger
We will be taking the Sunday after Resurrection Sunday to discuss the next event in the history of Jesus’ life and the Jesus movement — The Ascension. These days, it is often an overlooked part of the historical account, but it was not for the Apostles or the early church. So come this Sunday to learn about its importance and be reminded of the reason it’s not the full gospel without it! 3.22.26 "Dwelling in the True, the Good, the Beautiful Things" | Philippians 4:8-9 | Dave Evanger
Philippians 4:8-9 || Through the pen of Paul, God commands us “Dwell on THESE things.” What are "these things" and what will the effect be? We will come to see that "dwelling" means more than mere passive awareness, but demands our active consideration and reflection. Paul emphasizes that genuine knowledge of the good, the true, and the beautiful requires that we practice such things as well. Philippians 3:17-21 It's a joy to look up into the heavens with you all each Sunday as we sing and proclaim the mysteries of the gospel, the gospel that assures us there is a kingdom above that God has granted us access to by His mercy and grace. It's a realm our souls long for and one that Paul assures us has the capacity to provide meaning and energy for every single day we pursue it here on earth. I can't wait to unpack all these kingdom dynamics present at the end of chapter 3 together.

Philippians 3:7-14 | On our 11th anniversary as a church God's timing is perfect as we come across this passage that describes the mentality that has so helped us along as we have traversed the last 11 years together as a church plant. It was my awesome mother Heidi who always told me and my sisters growing up: “Do your best and flush the rest” and I never quite realized how biblical this motherly advice was... until this week study Philippians 3. 2.1.26 "What about that Dog Within?" | Philippians 3:1-11|Ryan Farrell
Philippians 3:1-11 | We're looking forward to continuing our journey through Philippians this Sunday. If you remember, Pastor Dave provided the context for Paul's warning to the church he had founded: "Watch out! There are religious dogs that have a habit of harassing the gospel communities I establish!" This week we will move on to look at the next logical consideration which is: "And watch out for that dog within!" What's great about a consideration like this is that it provides us the opportunity to think about how God uniquely draws near to each of us whispering messages of life that resonate with our hearts to bring us joy.

1.18.26 "Pacers, Racers, Tracers" | Philippians 2:19-30 | Dave Evanger
Philippians 2:19-30 | This Sunday, we get to look at two men of faith in Philippians 2 -- Timothy and Epaphroditus. These men were used by God to minister to Paul's tangible needs and are also responsible for taking the message of God's Grace to many in their day. For this work Paul honors them both, but what's more, God has honored them in an unbelievable way by preserving their story for us to learn from.

Philippians 2:12-14 | On this first Sunday of 2026 we get to hear from "the professor" as he teaches us how to read our Bibles for all they are worth. He will do this while simultaneously unpacking a historically "pointy" passage, wrought with all sorts of landmines. It just happens to be the next verse we encounter in our study of Philippians, chapter 2. So what does Paul mean -- and not mean -- when he writes "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" and how can we live out this verse in the healthiest of ways.

The Coming of Strange Love - Advent 2025
The Coming of Strange Love is an Advent sermon that explores the unexpected, disruptive, and transformative love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. As we prepare our hearts during the Advent season, this message invites us to reflect on a love that does not arrive gently or predictably—but enters the world in humility, sacrifice, and grace. Drawing from Scripture and the themes of Advent, this sermon challenges common assumptions about love, power, and salvation. Rather than meeting our expectations, God’s love comes to us in surprising ways—calling us to repentance, hope, and renewed faith. This message is especially relevant for anyone wrestling with doubt, longing for meaning, or seeking deeper spiritual renewal during the Christmas season. Whether you are walking through Advent devotionally, listening as part of a sermon series, or simply searching for a Christ-centered reflection, this episode offers biblical insight and encouragement rooted in the gospel. Being Strange Lights | Philippians | Dec. 7, 2025
Philippians 2:12–18 | Pastor Ryan explores what it means to shine like stars in the world as Paul writes in Philippians 2. Through the biblical vision of Advent, we discover that Jesus is not only the Light who came and the Light who will come again—He is the Light who is still present now through His people. This message unpacks the deep, ancient concept of shalom—not just the absence of conflict, but the restoration of God’s full tapestry of harmony in all relationships: with God, with one another, and with creation itself. As we celebrate Advent, we learn how Christ’s “strange light” shines through us through humility, unity, sacrifice, and courageous peacemaking. If you’re longing for the peace Jesus brings—or wondering how His light can shine through your everyday life—you’ll be encouraged, challenged, and invited into something bigger than yourself.

So this Sunday we get to rise up, up, up with Jesus as we encounter the fundamental nature of the Kingdom of God at work! "To Live is Christ, to Die is Gain... What?" | The Book of Philippians | Oct. 26, 2025
To Live Is Christ | Philippians 1:18–26 In this message, we look at Paul’s striking words: “To live is Christ, to die is gain.” From a prison cell, Paul writes with unshakable joy and purpose—showing us what it means to live fully for Jesus no matter the circumstance. We’ll explore how his perspective reframes both life and death, calling us to honor Christ with our whole selves and to find deep meaning in our everyday faith. This passage invites us to consider what it looks like to magnify Christ in all we do, to reflect His love and sacrifice, and to hold fast to the hope of being with Him forever. Whether you’re wrestling with purpose, suffering, or the tension of faith in the real world, this teaching will encourage you to see every moment—life and death alike—as an opportunity to know and display Jesus.

"Laughing from Prison" | The Book of Philippians | Oct. 19, 2025
This week we focus on Philippians 1:12-18, where we get to unpack Paul's amazing statements about how to understand some of those moments in life that are hard to explain. Why would God allow this or that to happen? Why wouldn't God want so and so to be free and clear to take the gospel here or there? Why do some people who seem to be motivated by selfish ambitions always seem to be so unencumbered or successful compared to me? These are perennial questions in the Christian life that can often slow us up... but why does Paul seem so unaffected by them and what can we learn from his divinely inspired understanding?

We're stoked to gather and sing praises with you this Sunday, which turns out is what Psalm 149 is all about! Well, at least half of our Psalm is about that. What are the tools that enable us to bring Jesus into the picture? Does EVERY passage really have something to say to God's people today? I made a chart to help us answer these questions! Psalm 123 | "Where To Look" | Summer of Psalms | Aug. 24, 2025
In this teaching, we explore Psalm 123 within the broader context of the Psalms and Israel’s history. Spanning over a millennium, the 150 Psalms were carefully curated into five books, each reflecting key moments in Israel’s journey. Psalm 123 resides in the fifth and final book, known as the Psalms of Ascent, which captures the experience of God's people returning from exile to rebuild Jerusalem and reignite worship. This Psalm vividly portrays the posture of faithful waiting and hopeful looking to God amidst contempt, scorn, and hardship. Using rich imagery, it compares the people's gaze to that of a servant watching their master’s hand—patiently and expectantly awaiting divine favor. We unpack the historical backdrop from Nehemiah’s account, where the Israelites face ridicule and opposition while reconstructing Jerusalem’s walls, yet remain steadfast in their plea for God’s gracious intervention. The teaching also connects Psalm 123 to Jesus’ own experience, highlighting how He embodied this trust and grace even in the face of ultimate rejection and suffering on the cross. Jesus’ prayer for mercy amidst scorn reveals the profound mercy and favor God extends to us, encouraging us to adopt the same posture of reverent dependence. Key themes include: - The intentional arrangement of Psalms into historical and spiritual collections. - The Psalms of Ascent as expressions of physical and spiritual journeying toward God. - The dual imagery of God enthroned in heaven yet intimately near to His people. - The call to patiently wait on God’s timing and direction, trusting His sovereign hand. - The challenge to avoid distraction and apathy, and instead to actively lift our eyes to God in all life’s trials. - The ultimate fulfillment of these themes in Jesus Christ, who models perfect trust and mercy. Whether you’re wrestling with personal hardship, seeking a deeper understanding of scripture, or longing for renewed hope, this teaching offers a rich, poetic framework to engage with God authentically. Learn how to “put on spiritual eyes,” embrace a posture of faithful waiting, and discover God’s favor and grace in every season. * SPOTIFY MUSIC PLAYLIST -- https://tinyurl.com/fkzpkjwh * SERMON PODCAST -- https://tinyurl.com/2sn3msmn * CONNECT WITH US -- https://siderischurch.com/connectcard * MORE GOSPEL RESOURCES -- https://siderischurch.com/resources

Jesus seems to have really listened a lot to Psalm 49. Turn this one up loud and see why Jesus seems to have recorded so many covers of this song. What does it mean when the psalmist sings: "Do not be afraid when a man gets rich, when the wealth of his house increase." * SPOTIFY MUSIC PLAYLIST -- https://tinyurl.com/fkzpkjwh * SERMON PODCAST -- https://tinyurl.com/2sn3msmn * CONNECT WITH US -- https://siderischurch.com/connectcard * MORE GOSPEL RESOURCES -- https://siderischurch.com/resources

Psalm 18 | "The King Who Paints Beauty with Time" | Summer of Psalms | July 20, 2025
This Sunday, we’ll be taking a look at Psalm 18, where we’ll hear the words of King David—seemingly penned at the end of his life. Context matters in songwriting. What does it mean that this psalm is a cumulative reflection on an entire life lived under God’s protection? What can that teach us about how our understanding of God's ways deepens over time? The song referenced in the sermon is "Time" by the artist John Lucas.

Choose | Lessons in Joshua | June 29. 2025
We will close out the book of Joshua! We've encountered several unexpected life-giving and grace-revealing gems in this rarely preached through book of the bible, so it's sad to move on from it; but Joshua brings the work to a beautiful conclusion which is sure to be exciting to unpack together. If you listened last week you may have left with the question, "what does pursuing God with a loyal love actually look like?" That's exactly the question that gets wrestled with in chapter 24.

Alternative Alters | Lessons in Joshua | June 15, 2025
We will look at the Joshua 22 and the very important confrontation that took place between the Western and Eastern tribes of Israel at the outset of the time of peace. Besides trying to understand why the conflict occurred in Joshua's day, we will consider why it should have occurred more often in ancient Israel and therefore why we should be willing to lean into uncomfortable conversations like this even today.
