    Christmas Day In Da Mournin'

A traditional from Shetland (probably) arranged for high and low D tin whistle, accordion, kantele, saz and acoustic bass and percussion. The piece is in swung 6/8 in a moderate tempo. Recorded, mixed and mastered in Ardour on Manjaro Linux, with a MIDAS MR18 digital mixer / audio interface and a Behringer C-2 small condenser microphone. Everything played by me. Acoustic bass and percussion from a Yamaha MODX workstation, kantele from samples I recorded myself.

    Am Gleis (2025 Mix)

A moody, minimal synth pop / new wave track with German lyrics about the journey we're all on. This is a new polished 2025 mix of a track originally created in 2021. For more information on the genesis of this track, please visit www.osamc.de/archiv/2021kreiskomposition2/ You can also buy this track on my BandCamp page at https://spotlight-kyd.bandcamp.com/track/am-gleis-2025-mix

Spotlight Kyd - The Foggy Dew

A brisk instrumental version of the well-known Irish traditional with my Alba high Tin Whistle as the lead instrument. This is a recording I did in 2023 with my BOSS BR-600 digital recorder for practicing the whistle. I found the audio files today in my unfinished projects and decided to mix it properly and add some bass and percussion.

    Moana Lisa

My submission for the Libre Music Challenge # 35: Vaporizer 2 The challenge for October 2024 was that all sounds must come from the Vaporizer2 synthesizer. More info on the LMC: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=27527 I mainly used Vaporizer 2 factory presets and tweaked most of them. I created the snare and the hi-hat sounds from scratch. I didn't do any wavetable editing or importing. Composition, MIDI performances, production and mixing by Christopher Arndt The intro is heavily inspired by a track from "Stellar Supreme" by Cosmic Baby. Restless

This cheerful little tune was done entirely with sounds only from Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 synthesizers. The original sketch for this song had more of a chip-tune / arcade game theme style, but it turned into kind of an electronic pop / trance track in the end. Here are direct download links from my web server for the track in Ogg Vorbis and MP3 format: http://chrisarndt.de/music/homerecording/Restless.ogg http://chrisarndt.de/music/homerecording/Restless.mp3 I am selling one of my Shruthis (with a 4 Pole Mission filter board), so I wanted to record one song that showcases this fun little synth before I give it away. There is one pad sound, for which I sampled the notes from a Shruthi with a SSM2044 filter board. All other sounds, including drums and FX, are from the 4 Pole Mission Shruthi. Multitracked on a BOSS BR-600 without MIDI, then mixed with Tracktion 6 DAW on Linux. The drum sounds and a pad where sampled from the Shruthi and then sequenced in the DAW. Effects used: Delay and Chorus from the BR-600, Calf Vintage Delay, zita-reverb, ZamComp, Tracktion Chorus and EQ. JX - 3P - Antarctica

    Coming Storm

This the first track of a songwriting session I did in mid-May, entirely composed and recorded in about 4 hours (most of which I wasted on solving technical issues). I wrote this as a simple jam track with a simple arpeggiated bass line and chord structure to test my setup and get in the songwriting mood. The drums (Simmons SDS emulated with Waldorf Attack plugin) are played by hand via a Roland Octapad II and are rather sloppy. I spent more time than I really wanted to record and edit the track and it's still very rough, but I think it has a certain appeal, so I'm putting it up here on SoundCloud and maybe somebody will enjoy it. Synthesizers used: Kurzweil PC 3 (Choir), Waldorf Microwave XTk (Bass, Lead 3), Yamaha AN1x (Lead 1, Lead 2), Waldorf Attack VST (Drums) Recorded with Tracktion 6 DAW on Windows 7. Reverb added with TAL-Reverb VST plug-in. Image by Daniel D'Auria from https://www.flickr.com/photos/drdad/4982397317, CC BY-SA 2.0

    Microwave XTk Motion Pads

A selection of demos for motion and pad sounds. All sounds in this demo are single programs and have just one layer, sometimes with dual unisono, i.e. four oscillators per voice. All sounds are from the Waldorf Microwave XTk synthesizer and were programmed by me, Christopher Arndt. Recorded with a BOSS BR-600 hardware digital recorder and mixed with Tracktion 6 DAW on Linux. Reverb added with zita-reverb LADSPA plug-in. Image CC0 Public Domain from mmtmonline on pixabay: http://pixabay.com/de/audio-ton-muster-technologie-585399

    Sakura Sakura

Well, cherry blossom is almost over here now, but I stumbled over this well-known Japanese children's song again a few days ago and I couldn't get it out of my mind. So I created a simple second voice, added a bass drone and a synth choir - "feddisch is' die Laube!", as we say in German. All sounds come from a Waldorf Microwave XTk and were programmed by me, Christopher Arndt. Share & Enjoy!
