Episode 89: Suffering & Testing: God Walks Alongside You (2 Cor 1)

If you wrote an autobiography of your life, what would you say? Read about what the Apostle Paul endured in the first chapter of 2ndCorinthians. Most of us will never experience what he did, yet he knew that God was walking alongside him each moment of every day. The God of all comfort walks alongside us as we go through our afflictions, so that we in turn can comfort others in their suffering (2 Cor 1:4).Send us Fan Mail Support the showIf you've been enjoying the weekly insights and engaging discussions from our channel, we have a heartfelt request for you. Episode 88: Walking into the Unknown–Are your roots being shaken?

Going forward into the unknown can be scary, especially if you are a strategic planner. However, God’s plans are not always our plans. Look at Paul’s reaction to God’s call in Acts 20:22 (CSB)–“And now I am on my way to Jerusalem, compelled by the Spirit, not knowing what I will encounter there…” Abraham also felt God’s Spirit leading him; Hebrews 11:8–he obeyed not knowing where he was going. There are many myths or urban legends which may cause anxiety for people, believing they are true. Remember some myths are not true, such as opening an umbrella inside will give you bad luck. This discussion will share many myths you may believe to be true but are not factual. You may be surprised just as I was concerning some of these. You can always count on God’s Word to be all Truth! However, upon returning to their beloved city of Jerusalem after seventy years of captivity, the city was in ruins, and they faced the monumental task of rebuilding. Just as God told them not to depend on their own power and resources but His Spirit, we also can depend upon the resources of heaven through our obedience to the Spirit of God within us. (adapted-Experiencing God Day by Day-Blackaby & Blackaby)Send us Fan Mail Support the showIf you've been enjoying the weekly insights and engaging discussions from our channel, we have a heartfelt request for you. A word not used very often is quarrelsome, which means argumentative, difficult, irritable, confrontational, hot-tempered, contentious. If you are a person frequently described this way, you are an unhappy person. God’s Word says in 2 Tim. 23-25: “But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.  And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,  in humility correcting those who are in opposition…” Remember, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh. 8:10).Does your strength come from getting your own way or from the joy God gives you?(adapted-Experiencing God Day by Day-Blackaby & Blackaby)Send us Fan Mail Support the showIf you've been enjoying the weekly insights and engaging discussions from our channel, we have a heartfelt request for you. In my previous podcast, five “down-casters” damage a positive self-concept. In this podcast, five “up-lifters” do the opposite – they help build self-esteem. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8, NKJV). (adapted-Trusting God When Times are Tough-Ed Hindson Send us Fan Mail Support the showIf you've been enjoying the weekly insights and engaging discussions from our channel, we have a heartfelt request for you. Episode 59: Negative to Positive: Five “Down-casters”

When we recognize and learn to stop the entrance of negative thinking, we turn our attention toward a healthy, positive mind-set, which allows Christ to lead, guide, and use us for His glory. Down-casters are things in our lives that undermine self-esteem and foster a negative self-concept. The five down-casters in this podcast are the most damaging. “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance” (Psalm 42:5, NKJV). Episode 58: Insecurity and Self Image

Self-image reflects the value we put on ourselves. Some people feel insecure because they constantly compare themselves to others and judge themselves to be inadequate. Accept the way God has made you, “uniquely you” and loved by your Heavenly Father. “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise” (2 Corinthians 10:12, NKJV). (adapted-Trusting God When Times are Tough-Ed Hindson)Send us Fan Mail Support the showIf you've been enjoying the weekly insights and engaging discussions from our channel, we have a heartfelt request for you. Episode 57: Developing God-Esteem

Why should we find our value and worth in God? You are created, loved, and valued by God. Acts 17:28 states: “For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, “For we are also His offspring.” The Lord God is with you from the beginning of your life to the end: “Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you” (Isaiah 46:4, NKJV).
