37: The Waiting Is Not Wasted — Surrender the Outcome
Have you ever watched God move fast in one area of your life — and then felt like He went completely silent in another? That's exactly where I am right now. My North Carolina house sold in three days. My Delaware house has been on the market for almost a month. Eight hours away. Out of my hands completely. And it is teaching me everything about what it really means to bless and release the outcome. In this episode I'm getting real with you — because I'm still in the middle of this one. No neat bow. No tidy ending. Just me, in the waiting room, choosing surrender on the good days and the hard ones. We're talking about: Why the waiting is not wasted — even when it feels like nothing is moving What "bless and release" actually looks like in real life — not just as a phrase but as a daily practice The difference between blessing it, releasing it, and surrendering the outcome — and why all three are connected Why God's timeline is not your timeline — and how to stay faithful while you wait Whether you're waiting on a house, a job, a business breakthrough, or a door that just won't open — this episode is for you. Your three days is coming. But right now? This is your Delaware house season. And you don't have to white-knuckle your way through it. 36: Burned Out and Scared? You Don't Have to Be Ready — Just Start
Have you been putting off your next chapter because you don't feel ready? Because you don't know enough yet? Because that voice in your head keeps telling you that you are not qualified, not experienced enough, and not prepared enough to take the leap? That voice has a name. It is called imposter syndrome. And in this episode I am calling it out — because it has been lying to you long enough. In Episode 36 of Stuck In Corporate? I am breaking down why waiting until you have it all figured out is not wisdom — it is a trap. And I am giving you the tools, the truth, and the scripture to help you take your first real step before you feel ready. Because here is what I know: nobody has it all figured out when they start. Nobody. The only difference between where you are right now and where you want to be is one thing — starting. WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER IN THIS EPISODE Why "I don't know enough yet" is quietly keeping you from the very thing that will teach you The real reason imposter syndrome only shows up when you are onto something big Why you do not need more than you already have to take your first step How God equips you as you go — not before you go Why authenticity is more powerful than perfection when you are starting something new QUESTIONS TO SIT WITH Grab your journal and let these land: On waiting to feel ready: What is the one thing I have been waiting to know more about before I start? Could I learn this better by doing it than by studying it? What would I do today if I knew I could not fail? On imposter syndrome: What is the voice in my head saying about why I am not ready? Is that voice telling me the truth — or is it protecting me from discomfort? What is one truth about my gifts and calling that I can replace that voice with? On starting with what I have: What do I already know that someone else would find genuinely valuable? What tools, resources, or relationships do I already have access to right now? What is the one small thing I can bring to God today and say — here it is Lord, use it? SCRIPTURES I REFERENCE Proverbs 18:15 — The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out. 2 Corinthians 12:9 — My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Ephesians 2:10 — We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Romans 8:28 — In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Exodus 4:11–12 — Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say. Matthew 14:18 — Bring them here to me. Psalm 37:5 — Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this. Joshua 1:9 — Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 — Therefore encourage one another and build each other up. Philippians 4:13 — I can do all this through him who gives me strength. YOUR THREE ACTION STEPS Don't just listen — do the work. Here's what I'm challenging you to do before next week: Identify Your One Thing — What is the one step you have been putting off because you didn't feel ready? Write it down specifically. Not a vague direction — a specific action. Vague intentions stay intentions. Specific actions become momentum. Do It Scared — Take that one step this week. Before you feel ready. Before the imposter syndrome quiets down. Do it scared. Because courage is not the absence of fear — it is taking the step anyway. Tell Someone — Tell one person what you just did or what you are about to do. Say it out loud. Because something powerful happens when we speak our intentions into the world — they become real, they become accountable, and they stop being just a dream. READY TO STOP WAITING AND START MOVING? 35: I Can't Afford to Leave Corporate — Or Can I?
Have you been telling yourself you can't afford to leave corporate? That you need more saved, better timing, or a more stable economy before you make your move? What if that story isn't as true as you think? In this episode, I am getting practical. Like, grab your notebook and open your bank app practical. Because today I am breaking down the five small daily spending habits that are quietly draining hundreds of dollars every single month — money that could already be building your financial runway out of corporate. This episode is for you if you know God is calling you forward but the finances feel like the wall between you and your freedom. It is time to do the math together — because the numbers might just surprise you. WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER IN THIS EPISODE Why "I can't afford it" is often a story — not a fact — and how to tell the difference The five everyday spending habits quietly keeping you stuck Why how you steward small things determines what God trusts you with next What a Freedom Fund is, how to start one, and exactly how much you need to save before you make your move THE NUMBERS WE BREAK DOWN I am going to walk you through five everyday spending habits that feel completely normal — but are quietly draining hundreds of dollars every single month. We start with the one that gets me every time. The coffee run. If you are hitting Starbucks or Dunkin six times a week — and a lot of us are, because it is the one thing that makes the commute bearable — I want you to know what that single habit is costing you every year. The number might make you put your cup down. And that is just the coffee. By the time we get through all five habits together in this episode, the total yearly number we land on is going to stop you in your tracks. Because it is not a small number. And every single dollar of it could be going directly into your Freedom Fund instead. Hit play. Do the math with me. I think you are going to be surprised by how close you already are. QUESTIONS TO SIT WITH Grab your journal and let these land: On the "I can't afford it" story: Is "I can't afford it" a fact right now — or is it a feeling? Have I actually looked at the numbers, or have I just assumed? What would I do differently with my money if I knew I was leaving in six months? On your spending habits: Did this purchase move me toward my freedom or away from it? Is this a need, a want, or a habit I haven't questioned in years? What small habit could I redirect starting today? On building your Freedom Fund: What is my personal monthly number — what does it actually cost me to live? What is my three to six month savings goal? What is one thing I can automate this week to start moving toward it? SCRIPTURES I REFERENCE Proverbs 21:5 — The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Philippians 4:19 — And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Luke 16:10 — Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Proverbs 16:3 — Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 27:23 — Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds. Luke 14:28 — For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost? Proverbs 31:25 — She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. YOUR THREE ACTION STEPS Don't just listen — do the work. Here's what I'm challenging you to do before next week: Do Your Freedom Audit — Pull up your last 30 days of bank and credit card statements. Go through every transaction and identify what you're spending in the five categories we covered. Write the real number down. You cannot change what you refuse to look at. Open Your Freedom Fund — Open a separate savings account today and name it something that connects you to your purpose. Set up an automatic transfer — even if it's just $25 or $50 to start. The amount matters less than the habit. Calculate Your Number — Figure out what your personal monthly expenses actually are. Multiply that by three. That is your minimum Freedom Fund goal. Write it somewhere you will see it every single day. READY TO MAKE A PLAN? If this episode hit home and you are ready to stop doing this alone — I would love to help you build your real exit plan. Book a one-on-one Corporate Exit Strategy Call with me and we will get clear on where you are, where you want to go, and what your actual next steps need to be. This is not just a podcast. 34: Is It Fear or Concern? God Is Calling You Forward
Have you been telling yourself you're not ready to leave corporate — but deep down you've known for a long time that it's time to go? There's a word for what's been holding you back, and it might not be what you think. In this episode, I break down one of the most powerful distinctions for any woman stuck in corporate burnout: the difference between fear and concern. Because they feel similar — but they are not the same. One is from God. One is from the enemy. And knowing which one is driving your decisions could change everything. This episode is for you if you've been feeling the pull toward a career change but keep talking yourself out of it, if imposter syndrome has convinced you that you're not qualified for anything outside your current job, or if you're craving real work-life balance and a sense of purpose — but fear keeps winning. WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER IN THIS EPISODE The critical difference between fear and concern — and why it matters for your career change Why your body may have been sending you signals long before your mind was ready to listen How to recognize when God is repeating Himself — and what to do when He is Why the "steady income" comfort trap keeps so many women stuck in burnout What the funnel season is, and why it doesn't last forever QUESTIONS TO SIT WITH I ask these questions throughout the episode. Grab your journal and let them land: On fear vs. concern: Is what I'm feeling right now keeping me from being wise — or keeping me from being obedient? Which one has been driving my decisions — fear or concern? Have I been using my concern as an excuse to let fear win? On what your body is telling you: When was the last time I felt genuinely energized by my work? When I think about going in tomorrow, what does my body do? Is there something I do — a passion, a hobby, a skill people keep pointing to — where time flies and I feel like myself? On divine confirmation: What words or phrases has God been repeating to me in the last 3 to 6 months? What themes keep coming up in my quiet time, my conversations, my prayers? What doors have closed that I initially grieved — but maybe now can see were actually grace? SCRIPTURES I REFERENCE 2 Timothy 1:7 — For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Joshua 1:9 — Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. 1 Corinthians 6:19 — Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit? Ephesians 2:10 — We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Romans 8:28 — In all things God works for the good of those who love him. 1 Peter 5:7 — Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 — Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. Psalm 119:105 — Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. YOUR THREE ACTION STEPS Don't just listen — do the work. Here's what I'm challenging you to do before next week: Name It — Write down everything that's been keeping you in place and label each one honestly: is this fear or wise concern? Set the Date — Write down your last day. Put it on a sticky note somewhere you'll see it every single day. Obedience often starts with a date. Tell 3 People — Share your intention with three people who will speak life over you and hold you accountable. READY TO MAKE A PLAN? 33: Burnt Out, Lonely, and Stuck in Corporate?
You're surrounded by people every single day — colleagues, meetings, a packed calendar — so why do you feel completely alone? In this episode, we're talking about something nobody says out loud at the all-hands meeting: burnout and loneliness aren't two separate problems. They're the same problem. And together, they will cost you everything. This one is personal. After years in retail corporate management — where the phone never stopped and the expectations never paused — I learned the hard way what happens when work becomes your whole world. Burnout doesn't announce itself — it isolates you slowly, compounding quietly over years until your world has shrunk down to the four walls of your industry and work is the only thing left. The friendships fade. The family moments slip by. And somehow, in the middle of all the noise and responsibility, you become the loneliest person in the room. And still — you stay. Because the money is real. The salary, the benefits, the lifestyle you've built around that income — it all feels too risky to walk away from. So you make a deal with yourself. You tell yourself it's temporary. But here's the hard truth: the money is never worth losing everything that matters. Your relationships, your time, your sense of self — those can't be bought back. And the company that took all of it from you will replace you without a second thought. The loneliness you're feeling isn't a personality flaw. It's your soul telling you this is not the life you were created for. So in this episode, we're walking through three steps to break the cycle before it breaks you — how to admit what's really happening, how to deliberately rebuild relationships outside of work, and how to start building a real exit strategy before the burnout gets any louder. Key Scriptures: Psalm 34:18 — "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." Matthew 11:28 — "Come to me, all of you who are weary." John 10:10 — "My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life." In this episode, we're talking about what to do when God has planted a seed in your heart but it's not time to make your move just yet. Because "not yet" is not the same as "never" — and the season you're in right now might be the most important one of your journey. IN THIS EPISODE Why burnout doesn't always mean it's time to quit — and what it might really be telling you How to fight imposter syndrome when you're growing into a bigger version of yourself The difference between leaving corporate out of emotion vs. leaving with a strategy How to start building your exit plan while you're still employed Why the waiting season is actually a development season — and how to make the most of it SCRIPTURES REFERENCED Jeremiah 29:11 NLT Proverbs 21:5 NLT Isaiah 40:31 NLT READY TO PLAN YOUR EXIT? 30: Imposter Syndrome Makes Work-Life Balance Impossible. Here's Why.
It's March. Bonus season is right around the corner. And you're telling yourself the same thing you've told yourself for the past three years: "When my bonus hits, I'm out of here." But then the bonus comes. And you stay. Why? Because that bonus doesn't just pay your bills—it validates you. It quiets the voice that says you're not good enough. It proves you deserve to be here. And that's the trap. In this episode, I'm breaking down the real reason you can't achieve work-life balance—and it's not what you think. It's not about time management or better boundaries. It's about imposter syndrome and the constant need to prove your worth. If you're experiencing burnout from overworking to compensate for feeling "not good enough," battling imposter syndrome while sacrificing every boundary you try to set, or desperately seeking work-life balance but can't stop saying yes to everything—this episode will show you why. And more importantly, how to break the cycle and step into the purpose God has for you beyond the corporate grind. Discover why you can't rest when you're constantly trying to prove yourself, how the bonus cycle keeps you trapped, and the identity shift that changes everything. This isn't just about managing your time better. It's about addressing the root issue that's stealing your peace and making a career change feel impossible. 29: Working 60-Hour Weeks? Here's What It's Costing You
Let me tell you about the morning I couldn't figure out how to turn off my turn signal. I know that sounds ridiculous. But it was 5 a.m., pouring rain, and I was so exhausted from working 80-hour weeks that my brain literally couldn't process which lever to use. I genuinely thought my car was broken—until I realized I was. In this episode, I share the raw, vulnerable moment that became my wake-up call. For years, I thought burnout was just part of the job description. I was working the grind for so long that I couldn't see another way of life. But that morning in my car, I had a good cry—because I finally understood that all my corporate success was killing me. If you're experiencing severe burnout from your 60, 70, 80-hour work weeks, battling imposter syndrome while trying to prove you're "tough enough" to handle the pressure, desperately seeking work-life balance that seems impossible, and wondering if there's a deeper purpose to life than this endless grind—this episode is for you. It's time to recognize the signs before you completely break, and discover that making a career change isn't weakness—it's wisdom. 22: Escaping 30 Years Of Corporate To Find Purpose with Mark Barbaro
After 30 years in the same industry, Mark Barbaro found himself at a crossroads. His latest corporate role had ended after just eight months, and he had a choice to make: return to the safety and stability of corporate life, or take a leap of faith and start his own business. In this powerful episode, Mark shares his journey from corporate veteran to successful home improvement business owner. He opens up about the real fears he faced when starting from scratch at 56, the moment he had to choose between a corporate job offer and his month-old business, and the customer-first philosophy that helped him build a thriving company where 50% of his work now comes from referrals. Mark's story proves that it's never too late to bet on yourself, that your corporate experience is more transferable than you think, and that building a business is less about having it all figured out and more about taking action despite the fear. Whether you're wondering if you're too old to start over, afraid to leave a stable paycheck, or questioning whether you have what it takes, Mark's honest and practical insights will show you that escaping corporate is not only possible—it's doable. About Our Guest: Mark Barbaro spent over 30 years in corporate America working in the building materials and home improvement industry. After his last corporate role ended after just eight months, Mark made the courageous decision at 56 years old to start his own home improvement and handyman business rather than returning to the safety of corporate life. Today, Mark serves customers throughout his community, helping homeowners with everything from simple handyman tasks to full bathroom remodels. His business has grown organically through exceptional customer service, with 50% of his work now coming from referrals and repeat customers. Mark's approach is simple: put the customer first, figure out how to say yes, and build trust one project at a time. He's proof that it's never too late to bet on yourself and build something meaningful. In this raw and honest episode, I'm sharing the whole truth—the excitement of the beginning, the breakdown in the middle, and the slow rebuild that changed everything. You'll hear about: The honeymoon phase of leaving corporate and why it doesn't last The unrealistic expectations I set for myself (and why they almost destroyed me) The breakdown that made me question everything How Romans 12:2 became my turning point Why entrepreneurship isn't for everyone—and that's okay The truth about building a business when money isn't your motivator Why this is still the most gratifying work I've ever done This isn't about discouraging you from entrepreneurship. 20: Quit Your Corporate Job in 2026? Here's When to Leap
It's time to make a decision. In this direct and empowering episode, we're tackling the hard truth: if you're not going to be obedient to God's direction, it's time to either take the leap or let the dream go. No more living in the painful in-between. Looking at your life a year from now in the exact same spot—wishing you had made the change—is far worse than never dreaming at all. God planted that dream in your heart for a reason, and He's not asking for perfection. He's asking for obedience, one small step at a time. Using the WHAT, WHY, and HOW method, we'll break down five powerful reasons why you need to stop waiting and start moving—or release the dream entirely: You're confusing perfect timing with God's timing Delayed obedience is draining your faith The in-between is the most painful place to be Your calling isn't just about you You already know what to do—you just need to do it Like a retired gymnast who masters complex skills by starting with the basics and building step by step, you don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to take the first step. Or, if you're not going to move, give yourself permission to release it and let God close the door. No more torture. No more "someday." Launch it or let it go. I'm breaking down exactly why confusion and doubt aren't helping you find your purpose—and sharing the three faith-based strategies that actually work. How to identify your next right step without seeing the whole staircase Strategy #2: Replace Doubt with Decisive Belief Why doubt sounds like wisdom but actually prevents your purpose How to counter specific doubts with God's truth The decision + action formula that crushes doubt and creates momentum Strategy #3: Replace Waiting with Walking Why waiting for perfect clarity is stealing your abundant life How to act on what you already know (even when it's imperfect) The power of celebrating small steps on your faith-fueled journey Key Scriptures Referenced: John 10:10 - Abundant life Ephesians 2:10 - Created for good works Proverbs 16:3 - Commit your work Psalm 119:105 - A lamp to your feet James 1:6-8 - Faith without doubting Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is assurance of things not seen Romans 12:2 - Transformed by renewal of mind A Special Christmas Reflection: Jesus didn't come to earth so you could spend your days riddled with confusion and doubt. 11: Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Dreams: Trust God's Timing Not Perfection
👉Grab Your Spot: https://calendly.com/holly-stuckincorporate/new-meeting Hi there So many people never step into their calling — not because they’re afraid to fail, but because they’re afraid to not know. We want the plan. The guarantee. The proof that it’ll all work out before we move. But faith doesn’t work like that. God doesn’t hand you a GPS. He gives you a compass — and asks you to trust Him, one step at a time. In this episode, Holly shares her own story of chasing perfection instead of purpose — how she poured everything into YouTube, only to realize she was glorifying the grind instead of God. Through that surrender came clarity, peace, and a redirection that changed everything. You’ll learn how to: ✨ Recognize when perfectionism is rooted in fear ✨ Stop waiting for certainty before you move ✨ Trust God’s process, even when the vision is unclear ✨ Release control so your obedience can unlock your next step This message will speak straight to the heart of the person who’s tired of “waiting until they're ready” — and is finally ready to walk by faith, not sight. 🕊️ Key Points 1️⃣ God Reveals the Vision in Pieces He gives you the next step, not the full map. Like Abraham, you’re called to move before you see. 2️⃣ Perfectionism Is Fear in Disguise We tell ourselves we’re “waiting for clarity,” but what we’re really craving is certainty — and certainty doesn’t require trust. 3️⃣ Faith Requires Motion Clarity comes through movement, not before it. Every act of obedience positions you for your next instruction. 4️⃣ Your Calling Will Evolve Every pivot, delay, or redirection is part of the process. God’s not punishing you — He’s preparing you. 5️⃣ Surrender the Outcome When you stop trying to control how it unfolds, God can exceed your expectations in ways you never imagined. ✝️ Scriptures Mentioned Hebrews 11:8 — “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home… He went without knowing where he was going.” Proverbs 16:9 — “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Isaiah 30:21 — “Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’” 💬 Listener Challenge Ask yourself this week: 👉 Am I chasing control, or choosing trust? You don’t need the whole picture to take the next step. You just need to say yes to what God is asking you to do today. 💡 Mentioned in This Episode ✨ From Burnout to Breakthrough — A 4-Session Coaching Experience (normally $397, now just $147) For the person who knows God is stirring something new but doesn’t know where to start. Together, we’ll clarify your vision, identify what’s keeping you stuck, and build your next steps in alignment with your God-given purpose. 🔗 https://calendly.com/holly-stuckincorporate/new-meeting 💖 Closing Reminder You don’t have to see the end of the road to start walking it. Stop chasing the map. Start trusting the Maker. Because it’s not about perfection — it’s about obedience. 📣 Share This Episode If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who’s waiting for their next step. You never know — your obedience might just activate theirs.

09: Turn Your Pain Into Purpose: How Your Calling Inspires Others
Hi My Friend, Someone told me recently, “I’m using my family as an excuse. I don’t want to live out my dreams because I’m afraid it’s going to jeopardize our lives. I’m the breadwinner, and I’m afraid I’ll lose everything.” If that hits home, you’re not alone. In this episode, we’re talking about fear, faith, and the fine line between providing for your family and truly leading them. We’ll unpack: How fear can disguise itself as responsibility The way your choices silently shape your family’s beliefs What it really means to step out in faith — even when your knees are shaking Because here’s the truth: You can’t build a life of faith while clinging to the edge of fear. Sometimes, playing it safe is actually the most dangerous thing you can do. ✝️ In This Episode: Part 1: The Fear That Feels Noble Fear often sounds responsible — “I’m doing this for my family” — but it’s really comfort in disguise. If you can list every reason something won’t work, you can list every reason it will. Remember: your kids are watching how you handle fear and faith. Part 2: God’s View on Courage “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid…” (Joshua 1:9) Faith doesn’t remove fear — it moves through it. God doesn’t need you to have it all figured out; He just asks you to trust Him enough to take the first step. Part 3: The Leap of Faith (Tactical Steps) Start with obedience, not outcome. Take one small step of faith today. Reframe fear as preparation. Learn to tell the difference between discomfort and discernment. Lead by example. Let your children see what living courageously looks like. 💬 Key Quote: “You can’t build a life of faith while clinging to the edge of fear. Let go of the pool’s edge—and trust that God’s already in the water waiting for you.” 🙌 Tune In If You’re Ready To: Stop letting fear masquerade as responsibility Model courageous faith for your family Finally take that leap God’s been nudging you toward 🕊️ Scripture Mentioned: Joshua 1:9 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” 🔗 Resources & Next Steps: Join the “Stuck in Corporate?” Weekly email list: https://carefree-bird-15610.myflodesk.com/uss5ljf2oq Email me if you have something you'd like me to cover: [email protected]
