About 2,400 years ago, God’s people were in a rut. Their worship was lifeless, their devotion was lacking, and their patience with God was worn thin. Their hearts were full of questions like: “Where is His glory?†and “Does God even care if I live for Him?â€Â It was a sad state of affairs. God spoke into this situation through the prophet Malachi so that His people would know the assurance of His love and the value of His glory, and so that they would become an authentic expression of His body while they waited for the One who would come. Pray that as we wait for the return of Jesus, we might take counsel from Malachi and grow in our consistency with Christ and His kingdom.
