Unhappy Girl
This song - poem 'Unhappy Girl' is about feeling alienated from oneself and from life. The message in it is that we have the key to unlock ourselves from our own inner prison. Each choice we make in life is either building a structure that supports us or is like weaving a tangled web that we feel has ensnared us.

The Changling
Factors that contributed to Jim Morrison feeling like an outcast is that his unconventional lifestyle set him apart from the average person which at the same time gave him the freedom to morph into whatever he wanted to experience at any given time. How can this be changed? In a few words" I used to be different but now I am the same" When we go out so far from the periphery we can"t help but circle around back to where we came from in the first place to a place of oneness with everything and everyone.

Break On Through to The Other Side
For me, this poem is about breaking through to the other side of our limited concepts about life into a clearer, freer, unlimited way of being as Jim said in one of his other poems, "Can you picture what will be so limitless and free."The concept behind the song is that we all have the innate potential to break through our own limitations in life and or transcend them. The song Break On Through was the first song on The Doors first album and also their first single which in itself says a lot because the name of the band was based on a quote by William Blake "When the doors of perception are cleansed everything would appear to man as it is infinite". This points to a breakthrough in consciousness which is the basis of the song.

Universal Mind
Universal intelligence runs in and through everything and everyone. Being consciously connected to it is the ultimate internal freedom. The concept being conveyed is that we have the key within ourselves to unlock the door to that universal intelligence. As a conjecture, the song is in part about Jim Morrison's attunement to universal intelligence. His ensuing distraction through a romantic encounter and his struggle to maintain his balance in maintaining his awareness of universal intelligence.

I Looked At You
'I Looked at You'is about some of the decisions we make in life lead to irrevocable outcomes. On one level, this song is about the beginning of a romantic relationship but as said before Jim tried to convey multiple meanings in many of his poem-songs and in this one I would venture that once we go deep into the exploration of our spiritual selves there is no turning back to only a 3 dimensional sensory way of viewing our reality.

Horse Latitudes
The poem-song Horse Latitudes can be understood on many levels, but for me, it is about forgetting who we really are as divine beings having a human experience joyfully surfing through the waves of life to human beings struggling through every facet of life's experience.

Crystal Ship
Originally written as a goodbye song to a girlfriend Jim Morrison's song Crystal Ship also has multidimensional meanings according to who listens to it and how it is interpreted through our own unique filter or in other words how we perceive our reality.
