Once An Athlete, Always An Athlete
My wife Rach was seventh in the world at 100 fly. On Saturday, she crossed the finish line of her first 70.3 Ironman. This episode is not a race report. It is an honest look at what happens to high performers when they leave elite sport and never redirect what it built in them. The athlete wiring does not switch off. It goes dormant. And without a target worthy of it, that same drive that built your edge starts working against you.I talk about what Rach demonstrated on that finish line, why founders and senior leaders who came from sport need a challenge outside the business, and why the pull you feel toward something hard and physical is not indulgence. It is a performance signal worth listening to.If you have shelved that part of yourself because your responsibilities changed, this episode is a direct conversation with you.

The Executives Guide To Performing On The Road
Most executives fall apart the moment they leave their routine. Here is why that is a systems problem, not a willpower problem. In this episode, I am recording on the go as we head to Mallorca for my wife Rachael's 70.3 Half Ironman. Rachael competed for Great Britain in 100m freestyle swimming from the age of 14 and missed out on the Olympics by a tenth of a second. Now she is a mother and she is still holding the standard. That matters. But this episode is not just about Rachael. It is about how high performers travel without losing the plot. How do you protect your physical output, your nutrition, your focus, and your presence when everything around you is outside your control?I cover:- The minimum effective dose principle for training on the road and why most people overcomplicate it completely.- Travel nutrition without obsession, why tracking your food has nothing to do with fat loss and everything to do with data- Hydration on flights and why this is the most overlooked lever in executive performance.- The dimmer switch model of performance and why elite performers are never fully on or fully off.- How to remain present with your family without guilt destroying your focus or your identity- Why your performance infrastructure has to travel with you, not wait for you at homeThe BFP Capacity Index is now live. If you want to know which of your seven performance pillars is costing you the most right now, drop me a message.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

The Performance Gap That No CEO Talks About With Max Learmonth
Most CEOs think pressure is the problem. It is not. The problem is the lack of infrastructure to handle it.In this episode, I sit down with Max Learmonth, founder and CEO of Forge Talent which is currently the fastest growing finance and accountancy recruiter in the UK, as well as a current client of mine. Max is a former elite athlete, a CEO on a mission to change an industry and on a charge to take him and his team to another level. The reality of pushing your limits means that you're always going to be living on the knife edge of pushing yourself to expand your capacity. But when we first connected, that was not the full picture.Max was up at 3:45 in the morning. Running ten kilometres before the sun came up. Burning off the previous night's client dinners. Getting home and being physically present but mentally absent. Running on adrenaline, black coffee, and the same mindset that had served him on the rugby pitch but was quietly slowing down his capacity to lead.He did not have a business problem. He had a self management problem. And he had no idea that he was constantly living on the edge of burnout. This conversation is one of the most honest I have recorded. We go into what it actually looks like when a high performer is running on empty, why the same traits that build elite businesses can quietly erode the person running them, and what changes when you start treating yourself like the most important asset in the company. We cover:- Why being fully committed and being well managed are not the same thing, and why confusing them is costing you more than you realise.- How reactive leadership is a product of a depleted system, not a character flaw, and what Max did to shift from reacting to responding.- The role of data, routine, and recovery in giving a full-send personality the capacity to actually sustain the pace.- What presence at home actually has to do with performance at work, and why most leaders get this completely backwards.- Why asking for guidance is not a weakness when you are operating at this level. It is the highest leverage decision you can make. This is not a conversation about balance. Neither of us believes in it. This is a conversation about building the physical and psychological infrastructure that allows you to stay on the knife edge, sustainably, and lead with clarity when it matters most.If you are growing something, if you are fully attacking and starting to feel it, and if part of you knows that the way you are operating right now is not going to hold, this one is for you.Listen. Take one thing. Act on it.Built For Pressure works with founders, CEOs and senior leaders who are serious about performing at the highest level, for the long term. If that is you, DM me the word PRESSURE and let us have a conversation.TIMESTAMPS:00:00 Introduction and who is Max Learmonth03:20 From elite sport to building the fastest growing recruiter in the UK08:45 What it actually felt like to be fully attacking with no off switch14:10 Max routine, including how he used to manage his growth and performance.19:30 The moment Max knew something had to change24:00 From reactive to responsive: how real leadership behaviour shifts31:15 What tracking data actually taught a man who hated the idea of wearing a whoop38:40 Nutrition, sleep and the basics that nobody talks about seriously enough44:20 Why presence at home is a performance variable, not a soft one50:05 What Max would tell himself at the start of the journey55:30 The one thing that would accelerate any CEO watching this🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #masteryourenergy

Man Alive Podcast | Will Foden: What Actually Builds Mental Toughness
Most people talk about resilience like it's something you read about.Mine was built on a rugby pitch, in a hospital in Hereford, on a sofa in Doncaster at 2 in the morning, and in four weeks watching my dad go from cycling 12 kilometres a day to unfortunately passing away with us by his side. This conversation with Colm on the Man Alive Podcast covers a lot of ground. Professional and semi-professional rugby. Signing my first contract at Doncaster Knights and having a horse kick both legs through my knee eight weeks later. Being told I would never play again. Coming back ten months later. Playing seven more years across England, Singapore, and Australia. Leaving a relationship I had outgrown years before I was brave enough to admit it.Moving to Singapore with 700 quid. Losing my dad in four weeks to lung cancer when he was in the best shape of his life.None of that is the story. Those are just the conditions. The story is about what happens to a man when everything he built his identity around gets taken away, and what it takes to not let it bury you.- We talk about why men lose themselves when they leave elite sport. - Why being all in professionally is often the thing that destroys everything else. - Why self-awareness and self-management separate good from elite, not pedigree. - Why your gut has been telling you what to do for years and you are still not listening to it. - And why the men who are most stuck are not lacking motivation, they are lacking a system.Built For Pressure was not built in a boardroom. It was built in every moment I had a choice between sinking or getting back on the pitch. This one covers all of it.Very lucky to be on the podcast with Colm. The Yana mission is something men across the world need to take note of, be part of, and talk about more, because this game is extremely lonely if you let it be.I hope this message can help someone who's in a dark place pull themselves out of the ashes and start moving forward without losing themselves.Start talking 🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

Capacity Is The Only Currency For Leadership Performance
Most leaders in 2026 are performing at 60 to 70 per cent of their actual capacity. The question is why? And more importantly, what to do about it?In this episode I am talking about the one variable that separates leaders who sustain elite performance from those who gradually erode. Not a strategy. Not talent. Capacity.I cover why the leadership environment has fundamentally shifted, what is actually driving the performance gap most executives are sitting in right now, and why the vast majority of support available to leaders fails to address the real problem.I also introduce the Built For Pressure Capacity Index. A diagnostic framework built around seven systems that together determine a leader's ability to perform under sustained pressure. I am not going into the full detail here. That happens next Thursday at the Corporate Athlete Workshop with Deep Sky. But I want you to understand what it measures and why it matters before we get in the room.If you are a founder, CEO, or senior leader and want to come and join the workshop heres the link to register: https://readytorise.global/main-event WHAT WE COVER- The question every leader struggles to answer honestly why they can't push to their next limit?- Why capacity is the only leadership currency that matters in 2026.- What is actually breaking down inside high performing leaders right now.- Why existing platforms are not solving the problem.- Introducing the Capacity Index and the seven pillars of leadership performanceSee you next Thursday.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

The Three Drivers of Leadership Performance Most Founders Completely Ignore
Most leaders are white knuckling their way through performance. More meetings, more output, more pressure. And wondering why nothing changes. In this episode, I break down the three drivers that actually determine how well you lead yourself under sustained pressure. I Recorded this in the Peak District before I went for a wild swim.I needed to talk about how to lead yourself as we're headingin to a time where most are going to struggle to keep up with the pace needed to perform in this time. The key part to this is understanding what separates leaders who stay sharp from those who quietly fall apart behind closed doors. What you will learn:- Why physiology is the foundation of every leadership decision you make- How measuring your ego by output is quietly destroying your capacity- Why creating space is not a luxury, it is a performance requirement- How to train for pressure before it arrives, so you stop being reactive when it doesIf you are a CEO, founder or senior executive who has hit a plateau, feels the frustration of not performing at the level you know you are capable of, or is running on willpower alone, this episode will reframe how you think about your own performance infrastructure entirely. The aim is to help you see a clear path of what three levers to pull that drive leadership performance, and the honest audit of which one is currently costing you the most.If you're running a company and know that you feel you're plateauing in your performance, follow the links below and I'll show you how:🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

Most Leaders End a Quarter and Learn Nothing. Here's How to Fix That.
Most people end a quarter and immediately move on to the next one.No review. No interrogation. No honest look at what actually happened. That is exactly why they keep getting the same results. In this episode I walk you through the seven-area quarterly performance audit I run with every client. This is not a feel-good check-in. It is a structured, honest interrogation of the operating system behind your leadership, covering everything from how your biology affects your decisions to where your identity caps your performance. The seven areas we cover:01 The 90-Day Picture — what actually happened, not the version you would tell someone else02 Biological Stability and Physical Capacity — why the most expensive decisions get made in compromised biological states03 Cognitive Performance and Decision Quality — decision quality is not a mindset problem, it is a capacity problem04 Leadership Performance and Professional Impact — what moved the needle, where the standard slipped, and what you are still tolerating that is costing you05 Behaviour Architecture and Time Governance — willpower is finite, structure is not06 Identity, Self-Leadership and Ownership — every performance ceiling is an identity ceiling first07 The Quarter Ahead — one outcome, three constraints, and what you need to stop doingIf you are serious about the next 90 days, do not skip this one.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

Doing More Is Killing Your Performance With Chris Jillard
Most professionals are training harder, working longer, and wondering why they feel worse. This episode is the honest answer.I sat down with Chris Jillard, coach of nearly a decade and someone who has built his practice through the same bottlenecks I see every day working with executives, founders, and high-performing professionals. We covered the real problems. Not the ones people talk about on social media but the actual bottlenecks that high performers are facing right now.We get into why the attack mentality that works in business is quietly destroying your physical performance. Why your training programme is not the problem but everything outside of it is. Why hybrid training has become the most misused term in the industry. And why most professionals are running on no fuel, too much caffeine, and calling it discipline. In this episode:Why your body is asking a different question every day and never getting a consistent answer. The minimum effective dose principle and why doing less is often the performance lever you have been ignoring. How to book-end your training sessions with nutrition to actually earn an adaptation. The Amazon Prime effect in performance and why people are finally waking up to the long game. What self-awareness actually looks like in practice when your ego says send it and your body is running on empty. How to use data to make better decisions about your training before a coach has to make them for you.Why the consistency of your daily anchors matters more than the intensity of any single session. The hard truth this episode keeps coming back to is this. You are not a machine running on willpower. You are a biological system that responds to what you give it and the environment you put it in. Most people optimise everything around them and leave themselves last. That is not high performance. That is a slow puncture. If you are pushing hard in your professional life and your physical performance is going backwards, this conversation will show you exactly where the gap is.Connect with Chris Jillard:Instagram: @chrisjillardDurable Podcast: Available on Spotify and Apple Podcastshttps://open.spotify.com/show/14ZpHCbTWlpaVG0UtbL7Zp?si=d12b0e42c82149daTraining facility: Kulture Training Ground, BristolIf you're a founder or CEO who wants to learn what it takes to not only build your capacity but lead from the front send me a direct message on any social media channel below🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

Understanding Burn Out & Built For Pressure Update
The Accelerator Is Not Your ProblemMost high performers I work with are not struggling because they lack drive. They are struggling because they are running a system that was never designed to sustain the pressure they are asking it to carry. In this episode, I am talking openly about what I am personally working on heading into the back end of Q1, how I have been decompressing and what sharpening the blade actually looks like in practice when you are running a business at pace.I also pull back the curtain on a client of mine, Anna, who on paper had everything dialled in. But underneath the surface, everything was a firefight. Her bottleneck was not resilience or discipline. It was an unstable system running at full throttle with no idea how to use the handbrake. That is the conversation most people are avoiding. In this episode:Why burnout is physiological before it is psychological, and what that actually means for how you operate. The F1 car analogy that every CEO and executive needs to hear. Why acceleration is not the answer at a certain level, and what you need instead. The new developments inside Built For Pressure including the Executive Performance Diagnostic and Crisis and Burnout Programme. The Corporate Athlete Workshop is coming in April at the Rise Platform for DeepSky.If you are a CEO, founder or executive operating under sustained pressure and you want to understand how your physiology is dictating your performance, this one is for you.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

Missiles Over Dubai: A Real Time Test of Mental Toughness
Our next intake starts next week heres how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8LN8QYrZ00 In this episode, I break down what real mental toughness looks like when chaos hits without warning, drawing on my account of being in the UAE when missiles flew overhead amid an outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. I was over in the UAE visiting and running a session for those I work alongside. What started as a high performance team session in Dubai quickly turned into a live test of leadership under pressure when missile alerts began coming through across the UAE. In that moment, the focus shifted from training intensity to decision making, emotional control and protecting what matters most.I unpack the psychological cycle people move through when faced with sudden challenge: Denial, anger, bargaining and depression. Most get stuck there. Elite performers train themselves to reach acceptance quickly.Acceptance is not weakness. It is the acknowledgement that reality has changed and the ability to adapt immediately. It is the foundation of effective leadership in crisis.I also speak about preparedness, seeking counsel from those with experience, regulating your internal dialogue and training your nervous system long before chaos arrives. The core message is simple. Resilience is not something you hope shows up. It is something you build in advance so that when the moment comes, you can operate as an asset rather than a liability. The lessons here aren't about the conflict, the lessons are for you to take and implement when your overwhelmed and unsure of your next move.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

What if the process that built you is now the very thing holding you back?
If you want to learn more about how to work with me heres the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0In this episode of the Built For Pressure Podcast, I go deep into a challenge that most ex-athletes, CEOs, and driven entrepreneurs quietly wrestle with:How do you know when your current way of operating is no longer serving you?For high performers, control feels safe. Structure feels powerful. Discipline feels like the answer. But control is an illusion. What you actually want is capacity. The capacity to deal with growth. The capacity to handle pressure. The capacity to perform when it matters most.I share a personal story from my professional rugby career, the moment I realised the identity that built me was no longer aligned with who I was becoming. It took a literal physical breakdown to wake me up to the reality I need a change.Old behaviours that got you here will not always get you there. We also break down:• Why most executives are stuck chasing discipline instead of clarity • The real difference between health and peak performance • Why your metrics matter, and how to interpret them properly • The mistake high achievers make when trying to move faster • How to use gut instinct without abandoning logic • What “speed” really means when it comes to evolutionI also walk you through a case study of a global CEO operating across multiple countries who was pushing hard, scaling fast, but haemorrhaging energy and clarity. We rebuilt his foundation using simple but precise frameworks that allowed him to perform under pressure without burning out. This episode finishes with three powerful questions you need to ask yourself if you’re serious about evolving your performance heading into the next quarter. If you are a CEO, founder, executive or ex-athlete who feels the plateau, the friction, or the quiet frustration of knowing there is another level available to you, this episode is for you.If this resonates, subscribe and share it with someone who needs to hear it.To learn more about Built For Pressure or book a Performance Mapping Call, visit:www.builtforpressure.net🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfoden

This Is The Reason Why You Feel Flat & Uninspired

The team is stable. You’re in ok shape. On paper, everything looks fine.So why do you feel flat?In this video, I break down why so many six and seven figure founders, CEOs and high performers hit what I call Second Peak Syndrome heading into 2026.The game has changed. What used to motivate you at the start of your journey was proving people wrong. Building from nothing. Fighting as the underdog. Now you’ve built it.And the challenge that once fuelled you is gone.Using the evolution of Maslow’s hierarchy and how self actualisation has shifted in the modern world, I explain:• Why success no longer guarantees fulfilment• Why cruise control kills intent• Why boredom at your level is a warning sign• How high performers lose meaning without realising itMost leaders think they need more rest. Or more aggression. Or to escape to find clarity. That is not the answer. What you actually need is a calibrated challenge. In this video, I break down the three areas you must rebuild:How to personally develop and what you're avoiding that would expand your capacity?Professional impact is a huge banana skin for professionals, but asking are you still playing your game, or have you stopped building people and started protecting status?Lastly, do your physical standards and rituals reinforce your identity, or are you negotiating with yourself?Pressure is not the problem.Lack of meaningful pressure is.If you feel bored, frustrated or disconnected despite “winning”, this will give you the framework to recalibrate. And if you are serious about operating at a higher level across mind, body and leadership, the links below will show you the next step.Take the Grow Drivers Assessment: https://bfp-growth-drivers.scoreapp.com/If you want to learn more about how to work with me heres the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0🔗 Connect with me:LinkedIn: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy

If you want to learn more about how to work with me heres the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0Control Your State, Control Your Decisions If you are a business leader making high-level decisions in high-pressure environments, this is for you. Most leaders do not lack intelligence or experience. They lack state control. What I mean by that is being able to regulate your energy to meet the demands of your situation. When you are under aroused, you drift. You delay. You avoid the hard call. When you are over aroused, everything becomes a fire. You rush. You react. You take it personally. In both states, decision quality drops. In this 15 minute workshop I break down a practical framework you can use to control your state on demand, so you can make clear decisions at the moments that matter. You will learn:What “state” actually is and why it drives your behaviour. How stress physiology influences perception and decision makingThe Goldilocks zone where you are calm enough to think, and energised enough to engage to act.A simple state induction process to shift gears quickly without needing hype or being over the top.How to build small rituals that help you become who you need to be, when you need to be.This is built from my experience in professional rugby and from working with high level CEOs and executives who are scaling businesses.Because the truth is simple. You cannot control the chaos. You can control how you meet it.Before your next high stakes decision, write this down. What decision am I making?Who do I need to be to make it well?Subscribe for more on performance, leadership, stress mastery, and making better decisions under pressure.

Why do I feel disconnected even though things look fine on paper? This will shine light onto what you need to action to feel free again..High performance does not end when your career does.It evolves when you take responsibility for who you become next.

But what fascinated me about not only joining Factory but also exploring Adams's philosophy was his attitude to coaching, competing, and living on his terms. Here are some of the insights from the episode: - Building Factory BJJ from the ground up and why culture beats everything else.- How Adam built a personal operating system to explore and enjoy building his own ethos around his athleticism, profession and coaching philosophy. - Skill development without shortcuts and why the belt system is based around earning the right to progress.- Identity beyond the athlete and how Adam navigated the shift from competing to coaching.-Why finding a hobby is essential to regulating yourself and how Art has given Adam a new outlet to explore another side of his game. - Balance as a performance tool for presence and long term progression.- Recovery, longevity, and why elite outcomes come from being ruthless with the basics. - How to manage expectations without quitting BJJ and why so many struggle when they first start. - How to periodise your week so you can push hard when it matters and stay competitive at the top level for years.- Building a facility that supports performance whilst developing a culture of improvement and exploitation of your capacity. And more. Adams process is about building intelligence around you, your skill set, your energy and more so knowing yourself to not rely just on external feedback to make your next move. The best performers are not the ones who live at 100 percent. The best performers understand when to push, when to pull and know themselves on a deeper level than the average athlete or professional. To live, lead, and perform at the highest level, it takes years to learn, but more so it's about being active in knowing yourself, backing your capabilities, and being alongside like minded people who understand where you’re trying to go. There's so much value in Adams journey, and if you’re wired to improve, get a pen as there are some serious lessons to be learned. Why High Performers Break and How to Stop It in 2026
Our doors close on Jan 12th. If you want to learn more about how to work with me heres the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0This episode sets the tone for the year ahead and makes one thing clear from the start. If you are going into this year thinking you are going to win, you will lose. Not because you lack ambition, discipline, or work ethic. But because winning at all costs is what has already stripped most high performers of their energy, clarity, and control. Their head is noisy. Their body feels like a liability. And under pressure, they no longer feel dangerous. They feel compromised. In this episode, I lay out my aim for 2026 and challenge you to rethink how you approach performance when work gets tough. We explore the real question leaders need to answer this year. Not what you need to do to get the result, but who you need to become to sustain it.I break down the big rocks of performance that I refuse to compromise when pressure rises. Presence. Decisiveness. Challenge. These are not habits or tactics. They are standards that define how you operate when it matters.I also share my word for the year. Deliberate. Why last year was about exploring and reconnecting to the mission, and why this year demands intentionality with energy, decisions, performance, and access. Finally, we zoom out to the Built For Pressure mission and what it actually means to build unbreakable leaders in today’s environment. Not aggressive. Not hardened. But regulated, clear, and steady when others unravel. This is about performing at your highest level when the stakes are at their highest.Calm when others panic.Clear when others get lost.Directed instead of distracted.Able to lead without losing yourself. This episode draws the line for how you meet it in 2026.🔗 Connect with me:Linkedin: @willfodenInstagram: @willfodenWebsite www.builtforpressure.net

How to Review Your Year To Become Calm, Clear and Ready to Dominate
Want to learn more about Built For Pressure watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8LN8QYrZ00 In this episode, I step back and take stock. Not from a place of slowing down or losing momentum, but from a place of sharpening the blade before heading into the next phase.I share a behind the scenes review of a week that captured everything Built For Pressure stands for. High performance inside the business. Personal physical milestones. Giving back to athletes, executives and the next generation. And deliberately placing myself in uncomfortable environments to pressure test my own standards. From watching a client break national powerlifting records just before his 60th birthday, to speaking with school students about what real high performance actually looks like, to receiving my purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after years of staying in the fight, to spending a night camping in a cave in brutal Lake District conditions to build skill, perspective and resilience. This episode is not about motivation. It is about reflection with intent.I walk you through how high performing CEOs, founders and executives should be reviewing their year without becoming reactive, restless or burnt out heading into January. How to take pressure off instead of adding more noise. And how to create clarity so Q1 and beyond is executed with precision rather than force.I break down the exact questions I ask myself and my team as we head into the next year, including how to review your performance across mind, body and business, the behaviours to leave behind, the drivers that actually matter, and the deliberate practices that compound over time.We also go deep on why athletic thinking applies to every level of leadership, why done is better than perfect, why deliberate practice beats intensity, and why building a robust human is the real competitive advantage in business. If you are driven, ambitious, and wired for more but feel the weight of pressure, responsibility and expectation, this episode will help you slow down just enough to move faster in the right direction. Pressure Is A Privilege With Liz Bradford
The Health ROI Show with Liz BradfordPressure shapes us long before we ever understand how to work with it. I was lucky enough to be on Liz Bradford Health ROI Podcast and we dug deep into the truth that most high performers never get taught.Pressure is not the enemy. Stress is not what breaks you. The frame you use is what determines whether you adapt or fail.We unpack the difference between a challenge response and a stress response, why your language shapes your environment, and how your physiology can be either the ceiling or the catalyst for performance. Most CEOs and leaders tell me they feel stuck, burnt out or plateaued. Not because they lack capability, but because their operating system is built on reaction rather than intention. We also go into the part that most professionals avoid. Recovery. You cannot expect elite results if you train hard while neglecting the structure needed to recover properly. Treating your recovery like a training session is the fastest way to increase capacity, sharpen decision making, and stop relying on caffeine and willpower to get through the day. Three times your recovery means three times your capability. We talk about why your hardware must be optimised before you chase another strategy, how wearables only become a weapon when you understand what the data means, and why so many high achievers fear leverage because their identity is tied to input rather than output. More hours. More strain. More effort. When in reality, peak performance is built on clarity, structured recovery and deliberate stress exposure. If you want exponential growth, you must push your limits, but you also need recovery to consolidate the gains. This conversation is exactly that. No motivation. No surface level tactics. Real frameworks that help you lead yourself under pressure and operate with precision at the level you expect of yourself. If you value performance, leadership and building a body and mind capable of sustaining ambition, this one will resonate. What you will learnWhy recovery must be treated with the same respect as trainingWhy exposure to pressure in controlled environments builds capabilityWhy your perception of stress determines your outcomeWhy a challenge response keeps you adaptive rather than reactiveIf you want to live, lead and perform at the highest level, understanding how to deal with pressure in real time is non negotiable. This was an outstanding conversation with Liz. I would love to know what your biggest takeaway was.You can follow Liz here:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lizbradford/YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@LizBradford-ProtocolX

Expanding Your Capacity With Tom Foxley
How to Become More Resilient Is Not What You ThinkMost people think resilience is built through grit, force and determination. In reality, elite levels of resilient behaviour and leadership are only found when you expand your physical and mental capacity. Most high performers mistake capacity for more volume, more intensity or more hustle. But that approach only leads to burnout, depletion and the constant feeling that your next move is one step away from overwhelm. In this episode I sit down with Tom Foxley, a coach and mindset specialist who has spent years working with elite athletes and high performing founders, to unpack what it truly means to expand your physical, emotional and psychological capacity so you can operate at a higher level without burning out.Across this conversation we cover the full spectrum of what drives sustainable high performance. The physical engine that determines your output. The emotional intelligence that dictates the quality of your decisions. The resilience that allows you to rise to pressure rather than collapse under it. And the identity evolution required to hold more without losing who you are.Inside the episode• The truth about physical capacity and why most people train for output instead of adaptation. • What ultra endurance environments teach about thresholds, discipline and exploration. • The connection between recovery, clarity of thought and leadership quality. • Emotional intelligence as a tactical advantage in high performance. • How self awareness becomes a multiplier for founders, executives and athletes. • Why resilience is not toughness and how to build adaptive capacity under pressure. • The identity shift required to expand your capacity beyond your current ceiling. If you feel like you are running on fumes, performing well on paper yet quietly questioning how long you can sustain it, this episode will give you the clarity and direction you need.Capacity is not about how much you can endure. It is about how much you can train yourself to hold physically, emotionally and mentally without losing your identity in the process. This was a powerful conversation and Tom is one of the few professionals genuinely moving the needle in the space of mental performance and finding your edge. Appreciate this man masssively and if this episode has resonated I'd love to hear from you. Learn more about Tom FoxleyInstagram: @Tomfoxley.coachLinkedIn: @TomfoxleyWebsite: www.tomfoxley.me

Not Trusting Yourself Is Killing Your Progress
Building trust with your performance is the biggest driver of success. This week marks a full year of the Built For Pressure Podcast. Fifty-two consecutive episodes on high performance, leadership, resilience, and the mindset required to operate at the top. When I started this show, I made one commitment: produce a year of weekly content. Not for downloads. Not for optics. But to build trust with myself. Because leadership starts there—at identity, discipline, and the promises you keep when no one is watching. After coaching hundreds of high performers—CEOs, founders, executives, and 6–7 figure business owners—one truth has become impossible to ignore:Most top achievers don’t struggle with motivation. They struggle with clarity, indecision, and perfection. In this milestone episode, I break down the three biggest lessons from a year of showing up consistently, from my own development, and from inside the minds, bodies, and businesses of elite operators.1. The Body: Training Sets Your Standard Your physical capacity dictates your psychological capacity. What most leaders call burnout is often an under-trained, under-recovered, under-prioritised body. When your physiology is strong, you can handle turbulence, adapt under pressure, and maintain clarity in chaos.2. The Mind: Clarity Beats Motivation High performers rarely lack drive. They lack decisiveness. Perfection slows execution. Indecision kills momentum. The shift happens the moment you stop trying to feel ready and start acting with conviction, ownership, and focus.3. The Business: Your Personal Limits Become Your Professional Limits Most business problems aren’t business problems they’re personal bottlenecks showing up in strategy, communication, and leadership. When you remove the internal friction, the external results follow. This episode is a reflection, a reset, and a roadmap.Because the real battle for high performance happens internally, long before it shows up in your output. If you want to operate at a higher level, stop waiting for motivation. Start building clarity, conviction, and the courage to execute before you feel ready.Thank you for supporting

How Elite CEO's Turn Failure Into a Competitive Edge
How to deal with failure is one of the biggest challenges facing any entrepreneur, CEO, or executive heading into 2026 and beyond. This isn’t another motivational soundbite or glossy “how to win” episode. It’s a deep dive into the psychological mechanics of failure — how to fail faster, recover stronger, and keep performing when the pressure’s on.You’ll learn:Why failure is inevitable in leadership — and why that’s an advantage. How to use Dan Sullivan’s Gap and Gain method to reframe setbacks in real time. The exact mental process I use to stop failure from consuming you when the lights go off.Why After Action Reviews are the most underused tool in elite sport and leadership. How to coach yourself through failure instead of criticising yourself for it.This isn’t about being kind to yourself. It’s about learning how to lead yourself under pressure, how to hold the line when things fall apart, and how to move forward with clarity, precision, and intent. If you’re a CEO, founder, or high performer who’s frustrated, plateaued, or feels like you’re “doing everything right” but still not progressing, this episode will show you how to keep attacking — even when you’re up against it.Watch until the end for a breakdown of The Gap and The Gain framework and why failure is the most valuable data you’ll ever receive.Referenced book: The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan.Next Step: If you’re a CEO, executive, or founder who doesn’t need more motivation but needs to know what to do next, DM me the word CALL or visit www.builtforpressure.net to learn more about our leadership and human performance consulting programme.

What 6 & 7 Figure Business Owners Really Need in Q4 (It's Not Consistency)
Most 6 and 7-figure business leaders don’t have a consistency problem, they have a clarity problem. When you’ve been leading, building, and pushing for years, you realise the bottleneck isn’t effort, it’s direction. You’re stuck reacting to everything around you rather than deliberately creating your next level. In this video, I break down the 5 biggest lessons I’ve learnt from working with 6 and 7-figure business owners who’ve gone from burnout and reactivity to clarity, alignment, and growth:You need hard training, but you earn the right to train hard. Learn how to build metrics, recovery and objectivity into your performance to train like an athlete again.Generic advice will never work for you. From Overwhelm to Ownership: The Five Drivers Of Leadership Performance
What does it really take to keep leading, performing, and sustaining impact when the pressure never stops? In this episode, I break down the 5 key drivers of leadership that separate those who plateau from those who rise:Human Optimisation – Physical capacity, vitality, energy systems.Personal Development – Identity, high-impact behaviour, mission, vision.Professional Impact – Mastery, operating systems, strategic leadership.Ownership – Direction, self-regulation, personal mastery.Awareness – Emotional intelligence, reflection, clarity.Together, these five drivers form the foundation for any leader who wants to sustain high performance without burning out.I also introduce the Realign & Recommit Protocol: a simple 3-step framework to evaluate where you are, choose one critical shift, and recommit with intention so that you’re not just “surviving” but actually leading with conviction.Whether you’re a CEO, founder, or athlete turned executive, this conversation is about giving you a structure to assess yourself honestly and make deliberate changes that keep you effective under pressure. This isn’t about hacks or quick wins it’s about standards, systems, and becoming the leader people trust when it matters most.If you’re a leader, entrepreneur, or executive who refuses to settle for “average,” this episode will show you where to start and how to sustain the edge.If you'd like to know more about what we do click this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0#Leadership #HighPerformance #Entrepreneurship #BuiltForPressure #ExecutiveMindset

The Guilt of Rest: My Struggle With Slowing Down
The One Challenge I’ve Never Spoken About (Until Now)As a high achiever, I’ve always taken pride in being the workhorse.Relentless, consistent, always “on” to which that output level became part of my identity. But recently, being away forced me to face something I’ve never shared publicly: the guilt, anxiety, and internal pressure that came with trying to switch off.In this episode, I set the scene of what it felt like to step away from the usual chaos and what I was bumping up against not just the fear of slowing down, but the belief that high performance can’t coexist with presence and peace.I share my turning point, including insights from a powerful call with Jay Hedley, and how I shifted from compulsive doing to intentional execution. I combated this by stacking my week, permitting myself to be present, and still driving results. You’ll hear how:My clients continued progressing without my constant involvementTwo new startups launchedI still trained, ate well, and even hit PBs with no gymKey takeaways:Compulsion kills clarityDefine what must be done, and communicate it (to yourself and others)Growth doesn’t always look like grind — sometimes, presence is the edgeYour standards follow you when they’re truly embodiedIf you struggle with switching off, redefining success, or allowing yourself space without guilt, this one is for you.If you want to learn more about how to work with me here's the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m5OZIWgqBzFowqoYTLpJD9fBwVyFDeB7nIVPrQGoeg0/edit?tab=t.0#LeadershipPerformance #Highperformance #ExecutiveMindset #PeakPerformance #BusinessLeadership #EnergyManagement #ResilientLeadership #OptimizeYourself#mentalclarity #peakperformance #PersonalStandards#SuccessUnderPressure #EntrepreneurLife #ElitePerformance #ProductivityHacks #CEOHealth #sustainablesuccess #leadershipdevelopment #worklifebalance #trainsmart #masteryourenergy
