Navigating Amateur MX - Episode #26
What actually separates the riders who win from the ones who keep blaming their bike? In this episode of the Coach Robb Podcast Network, Coach Robb sits down with Derek Harris, of HP Development, to pull back the curtain on what really drives motocross performance, and a lot of it has nothing to do with horsepower.Derek brings years of insider perspective on how factory race teams and OEM manufacturers actually develop a motorcycle. Think multi-year R&D cycles, obsessive attention to RPM, inertia, vibration, engineering tolerances, and the kind of durability testing most amateur riders never see. The takeaway might surprise you: chasing more power is rarely the answer. Understanding why your bike behaves the way it does usually is.From there, the conversation gets honest about a pattern Coach Robb sees constantly in the amateur ranks. Parents and riders pour money into race bike modifications while quietly ignoring the things that actually move the needle, fitness, consistency, race craft, and mental toughness. Derek and Robb dig into why that trade-off almost always backfires. The mental side of the sport gets serious airtime too. Coach Robb explains how frustration with suspension or engine setup can quietly sabotage training, confidence, and race day execution. Pulling examples from Chase Sexton, Jett Lawrence, Cooper Webb, Adam Cianciarulo, and Shane McElrath, the discussion shows what elite riders actually do differently. They adapt. They train harder when something feels off. They execute under pressure instead of looking for something to blame. Aerobic conditioning, race strategy, and mental resilience tend to matter far more than the hunt for a perfect setup.Accountability is the thread that ties the whole episode together. Robb and Derek push back hard on the growing habit of blaming motorcycles, suspension, engines, and sponsors for poor results. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, and Suzuki put enormous engineering and data analysis behind every production bike. The riders who trust the process, stay disciplined, and learn to ride what they have usually beat the ones with better equipment and worse preparation. If you want a real look at motocross training, bike performance, sports psychology, and what it actually takes to develop a complete rider physically and mentally, this episode delivers. The Ricky and Robb Podcast Show - Episode 3
Topic 1: Chase Sexton and Rider ProfessionalismThe opening discussion focuses on Chase Sexton and rider professionalism within factory teams, specifically addressing the impact of publicly criticizing bike performance and bringing in outside support. The conversation highlights how actions like this can strain relationships with manufacturers and undermine team trust, regardless of talent level. While Sexton is recognized as one of the fastest riders in the sport, the hosts emphasize that mental consistency, confidence, and accountability are critical to sustained success, noting that performance swings often stem more from mindset than machinery.Topic 2: Eli Tomac and Jorge Prado vs. Ken RoczenThe second segment breaks down Eli Tomac and Jorge Prado battling against Ken Roczen, analyzing how starts, positioning, and race flow dictated the outcome. The discussion centers on whether Tomac could have caught Roczen if he had cleared Prado sooner, ultimately highlighting how track position, holeshots, and early race execution are decisive at the elite level. Prado’s role is framed as strategic and justified, as he is racing for position and establishing himself, while Roczen’s composed ride reflects a mature approach built on race management, momentum, and minimizing mistakes.Topic 3: Eli Tomac’s Record vs. Haiden Deegan’s RecordThe final topic compares the significance of records set by Eli Tomac and Haiden Deegan, questioning whether milestones like podium totals or early career wins truly matter to elite athletes. The consensus is that while records create headlines and historical context, top competitors are driven by winning rather than statistics. Tomac’s longevity and consistency are contrasted with Deegan’s rapid rise and early success, reinforcing that legacy is built through sustained performance, mental resilience, and progression, not just numbers on paper. Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep.2
Ricky and Robb Episode #2 of the Ricky and Robb Podcast dives deep into whether Kenny is stepping up or Hunter is losing his grip; the length of the main events – good or bad choice; which provides better vision in the rain and mud – roll offs or tear offs. The conversation opens by reflecting on Ken Roczen’s performance and legacy, highlighting the emotional reality of seeing records challenged while also respecting the perseverance required to achieve them. The discussion evolves into a deeper analysis of Roczen’s current form, concluding that while he may not be at his most spectacular peak, he is riding at his most complete level—combining experience, mental strength, and consistency. In contrast, Hunter Lawrence remains fast and capable but is losing ground due to small mistakes, pressure, and situational challenges like mud races. The key takeaway is that Roczen is capitalizing on momentum and staying present, while Hunter is battling execution under pressure. The second portion of the conversation debates whether shortening main events due to extreme weather conditions is justified. One side emphasizes rider safety, visibility, and the unpredictable nature of mud as a legitimate reason to reduce race length, framing those races as survival-based rather than performance-driven. The opposing perspective focuses on the fan experience and the importance of delivering a full show, especially for those who invest time and money to attend. Ultimately, the consensus leans toward a balanced approach, acknowledging that slight adjustments are appropriate for safety, but the integrity of competition and entertainment must still be preserved. The final segment dives into technical strategy with roll-offs versus tear-offs in muddy conditions, concluding that a combination approach provides the best advantage. Beyond equipment, the conversation emphasizes preparation, adaptability, and confidence in adverse conditions as the true differentiators.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode 1
Triple Crown Racing Format This episode opens with a deep dive into Triple Crown racing vs traditional formats, debating whether shorter, high-intensity races truly showcase fitness, endurance, and race craft. A proposed “mid-race restart” concept introduces a fresh perspective on improving fan engagement, race strategy, and competitive balance, while emphasizing how starts, pacing strategy, and fatigue management influence race outcomes.Kawasaki WoesThe discussion then shifts into motorcycle performance vs rider performance, specifically addressing whether factory bikes or athletes are responsible for inconsistent results. The key takeaway is clear: elite motocross performance is a razor’s edge, where small setup changes, tire selection, and mental readiness can dramatically impact results. The hosts highlight how overtraining, mental fatigue, and lack of focus can limit performance just as much as mechanical setup, reinforcing the importance of data-driven training, recovery strategies, and athlete mindset in achieving consistent podium finishes.SX End of Season PredictionThe final segment explores championship predictions, race strategy, and pressure scenarios, breaking down how starts, consistency, and mental execution under pressure will determine the title outcome. The conversation emphasizes that championships are often decided not by dominance, but by mistakes, mechanical failures, and adaptability under stress. The episode closes with personal reflections on competition mindset, resilience, and accountability, reinforcing a core message for athletes: success comes from ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement, both on and off the track. The Vet Show - Ep. 20 with John Anderson of DUBYA Wheels
This episode of The Vet Show breaks down the critical relationship between motocross fitness, strength training, flexibility, and injury prevention, emphasizing that performance is not built on one element alone. Strength without flexibility increases injury risk, while flexibility without strength limits control and durability. The conversation highlights how many riders lack structure in their training, often relying on feel rather than data, yet still benefit from riding for mental clarity, stress relief, and overall health. The importance of balancing structured training with unstructured riding is reinforced, showing that both aerobic training and mental reset rides play a role in long-term performance and consistency.A major theme is the concept of training intensity vs recovery balance, where most riders go too hard on easy days and lack the energy to perform on hard days, leading to stalled progress. The discussion connects heart rate training, aerobic capacity, and energy system development to real-world riding performance, explaining how staying in an aerobic state improves endurance, decision-making, and mental focus on the bike. Cross-training through cycling, strength work, and endurance activities is shown to directly transfer to motocross performance, improving bike control, safety, and fatigue resistance, especially for vet riders aiming to ride longer and safer. The conversation also dives deep into nutrition, hydration, and race-day fueling strategies, highlighting common mistakes like carb loading, poor meal timing, and overconsumption during high-intensity efforts. Riders are encouraged to maintain consistent daily nutrition rather than making drastic changes before races. Key insights include the body’s limit of roughly 300 calories per hour during high-intensity activity, the importance of fuel timing, and avoiding complex foods when heart rate is elevated. Ultimately, the episode reinforces a data-driven approach to performance, encouraging riders to stop guessing and instead align training, nutrition, recovery, and mindset to achieve sustainable gains while reducing injury risk. Navigating Amateur MX: Ep. 25: Engine Hours vs. Cycles | Training Intensity vs. Hours Training
This episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross breaks down a critical but often misunderstood concept in motocross performance: the difference between engine hours vs engine cycles and how that directly mirrors training intensity vs time spent training. Just like an athlete can spend an hour in the gym with minimal output or maximum effort, a motorcycle engine experiences drastically different wear depending on RPM, load, and riding style. High RPM, aggressive riding, and increased race pace dramatically accelerate engine wear, meaning faster riders must adopt shorter maintenance intervals to match their performance level. The conversation expands into the connection between mechanical performance and human performance, emphasizing that both systems follow the same principles of stress, recovery, and adaptation. As athletes improve and increase intensity, the demand on both the body and the machine rises, requiring more precise maintenance, recovery strategies, and data tracking. The discussion highlights how many riders and parents misinterpret mechanical failures as defects, when in reality they are often the result of increased performance demands, poor maintenance habits, or lack of awareness around workload and stress.A major theme throughout the episode is complacency and lack of awareness. Many riders unknowingly create performance limitations through poor habits such as over-revving the engine, neglecting maintenance, skipping proper warm-ups, or failing to analyze data. The episode stresses the importance of integrating riding coaches, engine builders, and performance data to create a unified approach. True performance gains come from understanding cause and effect, improving technique, managing intensity, and making data-driven decisions rather than relying on guesswork or “what sounds fast.” Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Episode 24 (Engine Maintenance - Heat & Starts)
In episode #24 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris break down how engine maintenance, dirt bike performance, and race day consistency are closely connected. The conversation explains why two stroke top end maintenance is so important, including piston wear, ring seal, reeds, carburetion, and jetting, and why riders should never assume a bike with hours on it is still making peak horsepower. They also compare two stroke vs four stroke durability, showing how performance can fade well before a major failure ever happens. For families serious about amateur motocross, this episode gives practical insight into how mechanical condition directly affects speed, reliability, and confidence on the track. The discussion then goes deeper into motocross engine building by comparing cast piston vs forged piston choices, heat expansion, high cycle fatigue, RPM stress, and service intervals. Derek explains that forged pistons may offer more durability in certain situations, while cast pistons can often provide stronger power, creating an important tradeoff for racers and parents to understand. Real-world examples from KTM 125, superminis, and elite race bikes show how ignoring piston hours, stroke changes, or heat management can lead to costly failures. For anyone chasing more engine reliability, motocross horsepower, and dirt bike performance, this episode delivers clear lessons on how smart maintenance decisions improve results. The final portion shifts into motocross starts, clutch control, bike warm up, and riding technique, emphasizing that consistency starts before the gate drops. Derek explains how factory teams warm the full engine, clutch, and oil system to achieve a stable operating temperature and a more precise clutch engagement point. The episode also warns against hot-lapping starts, clutch abuse, and poor corner technique, which create excess heat, damage equipment, and hurt lap times. Overall, this is a must-watch conversation for riders and parents focused on motocross training, race starts, clutch setup, engine longevity, and amateur motocross performance.Topics of Discussion: 00:00 Intro 02:31 Engine Strength 07:41 Engine Materials16:08 Cast vs. Forged 26:32 Thermal Expansion 33:09 Starts & Clutches 42:03 Heat Management For our full disclaimer policy, visit:https://completeracingsolutions.com/coach-robb-beams-youtube-channel-disclaimer-policy/All Rights Reserved. © 2026Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show - Episode 19
In Episode 19 of The Vet Show, the conversation centers on how to stay injury free in motocross, with a strong focus on the misunderstood role of flexibility, warm up timing, and tissue preparation for vet riders. The discussion opens by highlighting the realities vet motocross athletes face while balancing life stress, bike prep, and performance demands. The hosts emphasize that many riders are unknowingly increasing their injury risk through outdated warm up and stretching habits. High search keywords include motocross injury prevention, vet motocross training, motocross flexibility, and stay injury free motocross.A major myth is challenged when Coach Rob explains why riders should stop stretching cold muscles, especially first thing in the morning or immediately at the track. The physiology behind the myotactic stretch reflex shows that cold stretching can actually increase the risk of muscle tears and scar tissue formation. Instead, riders are encouraged to follow a structured warm up sequence that includes light sport specific movement, dynamic mobility work, and foam rolling before any static stretching. This process improves range of motion, muscle elasticity, and motocross performance while reducing injury risk. The episode also connects flexibility to hydration, nutrition, and joint function. Proper hydration and consistent intake of fruits and vegetables support electrolyte balance, tissue lubrication, and muscle function. The hosts stress that flexibility without strength is incomplete, setting the stage for Part Two. The overarching message is that smart preparation beats hard effort, and that vet riders who manage warm up, mobility, and recovery correctly will ride longer, faster, and with fewer injuries.Video Takeaways:► Audit your current warm up routine using proven motocross injury prevention principles instead of stretching cold muscles before riding.►Implement a structured dynamic warm up and foam rolling routine to improve range of motion, reduce arm pump risk, and stay injury free in motocross.►Track daily hydration and electrolyte intake to support muscle function, prevent cramping, and improve motocross performance.►Increase daily fruit and vegetable intake to enhance recovery, energy production, and tissue health for vet motocross riders.Timestamps: 0:33: Athletic Durability 2:36: Reality of Injuries 14:19: Stop Stretching!19:42: Warm Up Mistakes31:51: Pain Site vs Pain SourceCoach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross- Episode 23 #CoachRobb
In this episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb Beams and Derek Harris (HP Race Development) break down the biggest misconception in amateur motocross training: that success comes from last-minute effort instead of long-term planning. Using a six-month runway to Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, they explain why elite performance starts with a baseline assessment, then training to the exact demands of race week (heat, humidity, multiple days, and 20-minute motos). Derek compares this to engine development: you don’t chase dyno numbers first, you build with purpose (short track vs long track), so power delivery is controllable, predictable, and durable, not “unusable.”Coach Robb maps the same logic to motocross fitness and human performance. The foundation begins with body measurements, muscle symmetry, injury history, and testing across the “three dimensions” of riding (left/right, above/below, front/back). From there, athletes build the “two rails” together: strength base + aerobic engine, supported by endurance training, lactate tolerance, heart rate training, and retesting every six weeks. The warning is clear: when strength develops without aerobic capacity (or vice versa), riders derail into inconsistency, preventable fatigue, and frustration. Real speed isn’t just “working harder,” it’s building a balanced system that matches race demands. The episode then ties mindset and execution into the same performance system. Derek explains why “more power” often hurts starts and lap times: too much power too early causes wheel spin, wheelies, and late reaction corrections, which is why elite teams use mapping and electronics to deliver power at the right time. Coach Robb translates that into physiology: riders who panic after a bad gate pick and cross their anaerobic threshold too early will fade in a 20-minute moto, no matter how “fit” they think they are. The conversation expands into the long game: grit vs complacency (Cooper Webb vs AC), the B-class curse, and why champions keep doing the basics (sleep, recovery, nutrition, soft tissue) even after early success. The key takeaway for parents and athletes: it’s usually better to be 1% undertrained than 1% overtrained, because the goal is to stay healthy, keep progressing, and peak when it matters especially during key growth windows ages 14–17.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Caden Braswell
This episode breaks down the motocross mindset behind elite performance by following Caden Braswell's path from top amateur to pro, showing how mental toughness, competitive drive, and character development are built through environment, not just talent. The conversation emphasizes that winning matters, but long-term success comes from execution, discipline, and performance accountability, reinforced through years of Loretta Lynn’s motocross, amateur nationals, and high-pressure divisions. It reframes competitiveness as a learned skill shaped by family values, coaching structure, and internal standards, with strong themes of sports psychology for athletes and elite racing psychology. The discussion also highlights the hidden cost of chasing the sport at a high level: moving out at 15, living with a full-time trainer, balancing homeschooling, training, nutrition, and race prep while navigating financial stress, injuries, and emotional volatility. Caden explains that motivation isn’t simply fear of failure or the pleasure of success; it’s driven by faith, discipline, and the pursuit of a “perfect race”. The episode connects these realities to the bigger picture of youth motocross development, the amateur-to-pro transition, and how riders mature under pressure when the grind is constant. The second half confronts the business realities of pro racing where results alone don’t guarantee opportunities. Even with major wins, including Loretta titles and a defining international victory that helped lead to an Orange Brigade opportunity, Caden describes how relationships, timing, and the motocross economy can shape careers. He details the instability of early pro life—new teams, new bikes, new tracks, weekly travel, sickness, limited recovery—and the mental load of being evaluated constantly in the Supercross / SMX series environment. The close reinforces how he handled self-doubt and mental health in motorsports through faith, family, trusted mentors, and honest feedback—building resilience and identity beyond podiums.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show: Episode 18
Episode 18 of The Vet Show blends old-school motocross storytelling with a modern performance wake-up call for vet motocross and off-road riders. The show opens with “#18” nostalgia—Davey Milsaps, Jeff Emig, Jeremy McGrath, two-stroke memories, and the “back in the day” racing culture—then pivots into today’s reality: a hyper-digital world where instant gratification, public exposure, and shortcuts can wreck momentum fast. The bigger point is clear: the riders who win long-term aren’t just talented—they’re consistent, disciplined, and building a life that supports faster riding, better fitness, and better decision-making.The core coaching message for 2026 is motivation vs discipline: most riders already have goals (leaner, stronger, better sprint speed, better endurance, less stress, better results), but repeating the same habits produces the same outcomes. Discipline means showing up even when you don’t feel like it—scaling the session if needed—but still honoring the plan. That discipline is built through daily choices: sleep consistency, hydration, real food, meal prep, and saying “no” to the distractions that sabotage training. Your calendar and checkbook reveal your real priorities, and the episode reinforces that you don’t “plan the future”—you plan today’s actions, and those actions create the next six months. The most actionable section tackles one of the biggest frustrations in weight loss for men over 40 and vet riders: the scale is often misunderstood. The episode explains why the scale can rise when you’re doing things right—glycogen and water retention from fruits/vegetables, improved hydration, and inflammation after workouts—none of which equals fat gain. Sleep and hormones tie directly into this: under-fueling leads to poor sleep, which reduces recovery and disrupts key hormones like testosterone and HGH, making body composition changes harder. The solution is simple and measurable: start with real food, track Garmin calories burned vs intake (MyFitnessPal), use the scale for hydration/inflammation trends, and lean on performance tools like a Garmin watch, heart rate monitor, HRV, Body Battery, and stress score to guide training and recovery.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep.22 w/Ricky "RJ" Johnson: Playing the Long Game
With special guest, Ricky "RJ" Johnson, this conversation reframes amateur motocross development around long-term strategy, preparation, and execution rather than quick fixes or horsepower. Drawing on decades of racing experience and modern performance science, the discussion makes it clear that readiness for events like Daytona, Loretta Lynn’s, and spring nationals is built months in advance through intentional planning—not last-minute changes. Tools such as heart-rate monitoring, performance testing, and structured training blocks allow athletes to identify whether they are overtrained or underprepared, replacing the outdated “no pain, no gain” mindset with data-driven decision-making. Just like the human body, engines, suspension, and chassis setup must be proven, familiar, and stable well before race day to support consistent performance.A recurring theme is that smoother execution beats raw power—especially at the amateur level. Excessive horsepower, heavily modified bikes, and aggressive riding styles often slow riders down because technique, timing, and physiological readiness cannot support the output. Proper shifting, throttle control, clutch use, braking, and racecraft deliver far greater lap-time gains than expensive engine work, while comfort, consistency, and communication accelerate progress. Long-term success comes from accountability, clear feedback, structured reflection, and balanced training that preserves enjoyment of riding. Winning is not about a perfect bike or chasing equipment—it’s about becoming a smarter, more adaptable athlete who understands their body, their machine, and how to apply both under pressure.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 21: When You Simply are Not Fast Enough!
In this episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Development break down why riders often believe their bike, or their body, “isn’t fast enough,” even when the data (like dyno results) shows the setup is strong. Derek explains that most performance complaints don’t require a full rebuild; they usually come down to optimizing within a small “window” using jetting, needle clip position, power valve adjustment, reeds, hour meter tracking, and detailed notes. Those tiny 1–3% tweaks may not show clearly on a dyno, but they can feel huge on track especially for riders chasing sharper response and better late-race pull.Coach Robb applies the same logic to human performance, using the bike as the analogy: if you want speed, endurance, and late-race fitness, you can’t ignore “fuel.” With Garmin calories in vs. calories out (and MyFitnessPal integration), under-fueling becomes the human version of “running out of gas mid-moto” it’s just harder to see until performance drops. Coach Robb emphasizes that many “fitness problems” are actually fueling, hydration, and recovery problems, and that athletes must practice race-day nutrition on low-stress days through race-day simulation, so it becomes automatic when nerves, schedule pressure, and high heart rate make eating difficult. Finally, they connect the dots with a powerful “mechanical vs. human maintenance” framework. Riders obsess over top ends, pistons, horsepower loss, throttle response, radiators, and preventative teardowns because failure is expensive and obvious, but the body can lose performance faster through dehydration, poor sleep quality, calorie deficits, and cumulative fatigue. Using Garmin’s sleep report, Body Battery, and morning/evening weigh-ins, Coach Robb illustrates how athletes quietly slip into the negative until they’re forced to rest. The core message is clear: rebuild the body daily: validate calories, sleep, and hydration the same way you check gas, oil, and coolant so practice days, coaching sessions, and race weekends aren’t wasted showing up already empty.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 20: How Heat Destroys Performance
In this episode of the Coach Robb Podcast Network, presented by HBI Auto, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Development connect physics, physiology, and race strategy for motocross, supercross, GNCC, and Vet riders. They compare the human body to a motocross engine especially in heat, humidity, and long race weekends using examples from Central Florida summer races, Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, Daytona, Gatorback, Mammoth, and even the “Energy Lab” at the Ironman World Championships in Kona. The conversation breaks down how heat always robs power, regardless of brands, four-stroke/two-stroke, or an under-fueled, dehydrated rider dealing with adrenal fatigue, relative energy deficiency (RED-S), night sweats, sugar cravings, low libido, and irritability. They explain why riders must stop “fighting the laws of physics and physiology” by sprinting 20-minute motos like 4–5 minute qualifiers, abusing the clutch, panic revving off the limiter, and then blaming horsepower, the motor, or the fitness program when engines fail and lap times fall apart.Coach Robb and Derek use Formula 1 shift lights, MotoGP data, dyno runs, and Garmin heart rate analytics (HR, HRV, Body Battery, resting heart rate) to show how over-revving, mis-shifting, and clutch abuse are the number one bike killers—and the perfect mirror of poor human performance habits. They walk through a KTM engine autopsy with a blued clutch basket at 500°F, burned oil at 400°F, and rod bearing failure caused by excessive clutch slip, then parallel it to athletes who never truly train at 80%, 90%, and 100% of max, can’t dissipate heat, clear metabolic waste, or deliver enough sugar at race pace. Through drag race drills (85 vs 125 vs 250F), race-day simulations, VO2 and lactate-threshold workouts, precise heart rate zones, hydration and calorie strategies, they prove that most amateurs don’t lose by lack of horsepower, they lose by bad habits, poor race craft, and misunderstanding energy systems over multi-day events. The episode closes by stressing a healthy team environment between rider, parents, mechanic, and coach, teaching athletes to speak up when the bike or body feels wrong, and reminding listeners that this knowledge is their secret weapon in classes with 1,000+ riders chasing just 42 spots at Loretta’s.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show Ep. 17 with Zeb Armstrong: Mastering the Mental Game
In Episode #17, Toolman Dan and Coach Robb welcome former pro racer and track owner Zeb Armstrong, the man behind Riverfront MX, Prairie City, and The Sandbox. Together, they explore what it truly means to master the mental game as a vet racer balancing the thrill of competition with the realities of age, family, and responsibility. The conversation begins with lighthearted bench-racing nostalgia featuring riders like Barcia, Anderson, Howerton, and RJ, before shifting toward the evolution of the motocross industry, from legendary gear brands to the modern business of track ownership. The episode sets the tone for an in-depth look at how the sport, its athletes, and its community have matured over time.Zeb offers an unfiltered perspective on the vet rider mindset, revealing how fear, risk, and ego evolve as life’s responsibilities take center stage. He emphasizes the importance of pacing, humility, and awareness in riding safely while still finding joy in the process. Coach Robb expands on this with a detailed breakdown of the physiology of fatigue, explaining how aerobic conditioning, muscular endurance, and lactate tolerance work together to sustain performance. The two discuss how tools like Garmin data and consistent recovery routines help riders understand when to push and when to pull back finding that crucial balance between competitive drive and physical limitations. They also explore how residual fatigue from work, family, and daily stress can quietly erode both physical output and mental sharpness, often mistaken for an “off day.”The conversation concludes with a powerful look into the mental and emotional side of racing, showing how stress hormones, poor recovery habits, and lack of proper nutrition can cloud focus and decision-making on the track. Zeb shares his personal challenges managing multiple motocross facilities while striving to carve out time for his own riding, offering a relatable glimpse into the struggle for balance. He also opens up about mentoring others from kids on 50s to fellow vet riders and how helping others improve reignites his own passion for the sport. Coach Robb and Dan close the episode with a message that transcends racing: motocross isn’t just about speed or competition; it’s about recharging, building community, and keeping the sport alive through health, education, and shared purpose.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur MX - Ep. 19
In Episode #19 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Race Development break down the true purpose of the off-season and preseason, a period most riders misuse or overlook. They explain that these phases aren’t downtime; they are the foundation for future success, where athletes rebuild strength, correct deficiencies, and develop the aerobic and muscular systems that prevent burnout and fatigue-related diseases like Epstein-Barr. Through Complete Med Solutions, Coach Robb highlights how early bloodwork, hydration testing, and recovery tracking using Garmin data give athletes the insights needed to balance stress and recovery. By identifying deficiencies in B6, B12, or iron early, athletes avoid unnecessary overtraining, mental fatigue, and diminished confidence. The pair emphasize that smart athletes rest, recover, and strategically rebuild their base because trying to maintain peak performance all year long is both unsustainable and dangerous.Additionally, they draw powerful parallels between engine tuning and human physiology, showing that strength is the piston and aerobic capacity is the carburetor—both must grow together to deliver sustainable speed. Just like a race bike requires regular service, fresh bearings, and proper suspension settings, the human body needs rest, recovery, and fueling precision. Derek stresses the importance of documentation, testing, and mechanical awareness: learning how to be a test rider, maintaining consistent service intervals, and understanding how each click, spring, and sprocket change affects performance. The episode closes with a simple but powerful truth, success isn’t about grinding harder; it’s about aligning physiology, mechanics, and mindset. Whether it’s Energy Fuel, Recovery Fuel, or preseason structure, the message is clear: Champions are Built, Not Burned Out.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show Ep. #16: Keep Nutrition Simple – Daily Tips and Tricks
Episode #16 dives into “fueling for health and performance” for vet riders: keep nutrition simple (shop the perimeter), fix the calorie gap first (use Garmin for burn + MyFitnessPal for intake), and remember that macronutrients (carbs/protein/fats) need micronutrients (vitamins/minerals from fruits/veggies) to power energy, immunity, and injury resistance. Extreme diets (keto, OMAD, etc.) may backfire—driving cravings, adrenal stress, and muscle loss—so aim for consistent, quality eating to protect bones, ligaments, tendons, and lap-time consistency.Hydration gets equal billing: know your sweat rate, avoid hyponatremia from plain water overload, and use electrolytes (e.g., energy fuel) to absorb fluids and preserve muscle contraction. Practical race-day plan: finish a normal breakfast ≥2 hours pre-ride; between motos target ~300–350 kcal/hr (e.g., half bottle of sports drink + half Uncrustable, not both in full) and sip electrolytes before/during/after. Low blood sugar wrecks depth perception and decision-making, which raises crash risk—so keep fuel steady. Finally, watch recovery metrics—Body Battery, stress score, resting HR—to judge readiness; overtraining = exceeding what you can absorb, not a set number of hours.► Track your calorie burn vs. intake for 4 days using Garmin + MyFitnessPal and close the gap before changing macros. ► Calculate your sweat rate and switch to electrolytes (not plain water) between motos to prevent cramps and maintain lap times. ► Build a simple race-day fueling plan: breakfast ≥2 hrs. pre-ride, then 300–350 kcal/hr. + steady sips of Energy Fuel.► Audit recovery with Body Battery, stress score, resting HR; if they trend down, scale volume before you tip into overtraining. ► Skip fad diets; prioritize whole foods, fruits/veggies, quality fats (omega- 3s/MCTs) to support immune system and injury prevention.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross Episode 18: Post Loretta's Review
The discussion begins by addressing the emotional rollercoaster families face at Loretta Lynn’s—celebrating good results or questioning their place in the sport when outcomes fall short. Derek Harris emphasizes that parents often misplace frustration on mechanical issues rather than recognizing the rider’s challenges with new tracks and pressure. Coach Robb points out that expectations should be based on regional performance multipliers, and shifting goals mid-event erodes both confidence and enjoyment. Families are reminded that celebrating incremental progress and setting realistic, consistent goals builds long-term development and confidence.Mechanical Prep vs. Rider PerformanceA recurring theme is the tendency to over-rely on shops and suspension tuners, which creates unrealistic expectations at a national event. When results dip, riders and parents often blame the bike—yet proven regional setups suddenly become “bad” without logical cause. Robb explains the “familiarity principle,” where confidence drops in unfamiliar conditions, and stresses that no amount of horsepower or suspension can replace adaptability, fitness, and rider fundamentals. True confidence comes from validated preparation—dyno runs, heat cycles, and consistent moto testing—not last-minute changes at the Ranch.Arm Pump, Pressure, and AccountabilityThe issue of arm pump surfaces as a common excuse. Robb clarifies that if athletes have been fine all season, sudden arm pump at Loretta’s is more often mental strain than physiological failure. Heart-rate data and moto simulations prove their fitness capacity, so struggles usually come from nerves, pressure, or mindset. Accountability becomes critical: athletes and families must debrief after each moto, separate controllable from uncontrollable factors, and avoid emotional finger-pointing. Even professional riders, like Jett Lawrence, model accountability by openly admitting setup mistakes, showing that responsibility fuels growth.Preparation, Execution, and Long-Term SuccessThe conversation closes by stressing that real success lies in disciplined preparation and execution. Small details—spare goggles for rain, cooling strategies, consistent starts, and proper clutch care—often separate winners from the pack. Riders must learn to articulate what they feel on the bike, blending feedback with technical data to avoid chasing myths about horsepower or suspension. Robb underscores his “Four Pillars of Success”—preparation, fitness, recovery, and strategy—as the foundation of championship habits. Meet The Guest - Next Chapter with BMX Legend Greg Hill
Greg Hill’s journey in BMX began with childhood curiosity and family support but was shaped just as much by adversity as by talent. From balancing on his sisters’ Royce Union bikes to the chaos of his first race at ten years old, he was hooked immediately, thanks to his sister Tanya’s dedication to getting him to the track and his parents’ growing involvement in the sport. Growing up in a tough Santa Ana neighborhood, Greg learned early to stand up to bullies—a mindset that carried into racing and into fatherhood, where self-respect and resilience became non-negotiables. Those roots set the tone for a career that saw him rise into the pro ranks by 14, line up against legends like Stu Thompson and Gary Ellis, and develop a reputation as a clean, fearless competitor unwilling to compromise his ethics.Greg reflects on not only the highs but also the struggles that defined both him and the sport. His book Training for BMX became a lifeline for a generation seeking guidance in strength training and nutrition, inspiring Robb’s own career in physiology and coaching. Yet, while BMX thrived culturally in the 1980s—with ESPN events, iconic magazine covers, and fierce rivalries—Greg also battled the darker side: accusations of cheating within the sport, the rise of performance-enhancing drugs, and the pressure of competing against peers who didn’t always play by the same rules. He openly shares the frustration of knowing when something “didn’t add up” on the track and the challenge of holding onto integrity while others cut corners, underscoring the grit required to stay committed to clean competition.Greg also offers rare insight into the business and emotional toll behind the glory. He details the collapse of his GHP brand under manufacturing sabotage and financial strain, contracts cut short by untimely injuries, and the brutal reality of an industry that shifted overseas, killing smaller brands and drying up sponsorships. Even at his peak, financial security was uncertain, with bonuses and photo contingencies often dictating his livelihood. Despite setbacks, he describes the journey as both humbling and therapeutic, crediting BMX for the lessons in sacrifice, perseverance, and gratitude that continue to shape him today. For Greg, the legacy isn’t just in the wins, but in the honesty, the struggles, and the enduring belief that victories only matter when they’re earned the right way.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Grant Langston
In this episode of Meet the Guest - Next Chapter, Grant Langston recounts how motocross first entered his family’s life in South Africa. His father was inspired after watching On Any Sunday, which led to a shared passion that carried through to Grant’s own childhood. At just five years old, he begged to ride a friend’s bike and was instantly hooked. At 12, a devastating femur break nearly ended his career, but his stubborn drive brought him back stronger, leading to contracts and opportunities that set the stage for his international racing career. By 14, he was competing in South Africa’s senior pro class against seasoned men, where intimidation and even bullying on the track taught him to toughen up and earn respect. Grant’s leap to Europe at just 15 marked a turning point. Living in poverty, facing homesickness, and struggling to qualify for races, he endured moments of despair, including breaking down emotionally at Foxhills after missing the gate. Mentorship from the legendary Harry Everts helped him rebuild with structure—breaking down tracks into sections, training with intention, and focusing on long-term growth. Slowly, results followed: an eighth-place finish in France and eventually his first GP podium and win in Germany. By 2000, his persistence paid off with a 125cc World Championship at just 18 years old. This breakthrough not only validated his sacrifices but also showed the critical influence of his father’s tough-love discipline, which had taught him to thrive under pressure. His move to America and the lessons learned during his professional career. KTM initially kept him from joining Mitch Payton’s Pro Circuit team, but his U.S. debut still proved successful, earning him wins, contracts, and recognition. Along the way, he admits to strategic mistakes, chasing qualifying times, returning from injuries too quickly, and overexerting himself when it mattered least. Reflecting on riders like Cooper Webb, Langston now values consistency and championship strategy over one-off victories. Injuries and eventually an eye tumor forced an early retirement at 25, cutting his career short while he still felt competitive.Retirement brought depression and an identity crisis, which he compares to Roger Federer’s idea that athletes “die twice.” At the same time, his marriage unraveled, but today he maintains a positive co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife, acknowledging that racing had once been the “glue” in their marriage. Business ventures like his dealership and TV work allowed him to rebuild his identity and purpose. The Vet Show Ep. 15 : Recover Like a Pro (Even with Limited Time & Resources)
Many vet athletes assume chronic exhaustion is just part of the process. Over time, they become so desensitized to fatigue that they see it as a badge of honor. But when recovery finally starts to happen—through better sleep, nutrition, or hydration—it can feel awkward or even wrong. This mindset is dangerous. True progress in performance stems from recovery, not just effort. A core takeaway for every athlete: stop equating “putting in work” with being perpetually exhausted. Train smart, not hard, and learn to value your body's internal feedback systems, including heart rate data and recovery signals. One of the biggest mistakes athletes make is training too hard on easy days. When heart rate zones are mismanaged—especially during times of external stress like poor sleep, work pressure, or family responsibilities—it becomes impossible to build the physiological systems needed for improvement. Proper aerobic training in heart rate zone 2 improves durability, while sprint-speed efforts must push the heart rate into higher zones to build anaerobic capacity. Riding or training in the wrong zone, especially when already fatigued, sabotages performance and increases injury risk. Customized training based on life realities is essential for sustainability and results.Equally important is addressing hidden energy deficits, known as RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport). Without meeting daily calorie needs—especially after high-burn activities like motos - the body lacks the materials required to repair soft tissue, build muscle, and support immunity. The Garmin platform helps identify this mismatch using metrics like calorie burn, heart rate variability (HRV), and body battery scores. Athletes who don’t hydrate, fuel, and sleep correctly begin to spiral into poor performance, stubborn body fat, and eventual burnout. Monitoring and managing stress, sleep, hydration, and soft tissue health—using both high-end and low-cost tools—is not optional; it’s the foundation of long-term success for vet athletes.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 17 How to Approach Loretta's for Optimum Results!
In Episode #17 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, I sat down with Derek Harris from HP Race Development to unpack why so many riders experience bike failures and physical breakdowns at Loretta Lynn’s. From two-stroke top ends to four-stroke timing chain failures, we discussed how casual or generic maintenance schedules simply don’t hold up under national-level intensity. When riders overlook rebuild intervals or gamble on fuel storage methods, they often end up sidelined by issues that were 100% preventable. This episode exposes the harsh reality of what happens when performance is chased without a structured prep plan, both mechanically and athletically. We also tackled the human element—especially how amateur riders and families consistently underestimate the demands of multi-day racing. Recovery isn't just about lying down between races. It's about post-moto nutrition timing, hydration science, blood sugar stabilization, and managing core temperature. We walked through how Energy Fuel plays a role in restoring glycogen and avoiding late race fatigue. The goal is sustainable performance over the course of a chaotic and unpredictable race schedule. This is where so many talented riders come up short, not from a lack of speed, but from not understanding recovery as a performance enhancer. Finally, we explored real-world strategies to overcome Loretta’s extreme environment, heat, humidity, and low air density. Small oversights like unfiltered fuel or poor jetting cost riders everything. Derek shared how simple mistakes like storing race fuel on concrete or skipping suspension rebuilds can destroy a race weekend. I emphasized that Loretta’s isn’t the time to experiment—it’s the time to execute. What you bring to that gate should already be tested, data-driven, and proven under pressure.Video Takeaways:►Schedule engine maintenance around race goals, not just hours – Two-stroke vs. four-stroke rebuild schedules differ. Know your engine, your race volume, and your intensity before heading to Loretta’s.►Filter your race gas every single time – Contaminated fuel, especially in humidity, leads to jetting issues and engine failure. Use a fuel filter funnel and store gas in sealed metal containers off the ground.►Adjust your jetting strategy for extreme humidity – Test jetting setups in race-like heat before Loretta Lynn’s. Don’t assume last month’s map will work under that air density.►Build your hydration and calorie intake plan using data – Weigh pre/post moto, calculate sweat rate, and tailor electrolytes and fluid intake to each moto’s demands, Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Ronnie Tichenor
Ronnie Tichenor motocross journey began with humble roots and an unshakable drive, shaped by a father who instilled the values of commitment, toughness, and follow-through. Growing up in a split household, Ronnie spent weekdays with his mother and weekends traveling the country to race with his father. By age 13, he moved in full-time with his dad to pursue racing, quickly rising through the amateur ranks to join Team Green and later Suzuki. At 16, he turned pro and won the East Coast 125 Supercross Championship by age 17. Despite impressive results and being part of legendary amateur development programs, Ronnie admits that starting his pro career so young—combined with low pay, relentless pressure, and a lack of physical and mental support—took a toll that still echoes today.Behind the wins, Ronnie’s career was riddled with physical injuries and untreated concussions that have led to lasting neurological effects. He recounted multiple incidents—like racing the day after a blackout-level concussion in Japan—with a then-normalized attitude of "tough it out." Years later, after emotional dysregulation and unexplainable breakdowns, Ronnie discovered that he was suffering from long-term effects of sub concussive trauma. Through the help of his sister, friends, and a neurologist in New York, he finally found a treatment protocol that has begun to restore his cognitive and emotional function. His openness about brain trauma, emotional struggles, and the lack of awareness in the sport highlights a major blind spot in motocross that he hopes to help address. Now in a new chapter of life, Ronnie reflects on his biggest accomplishments—not on the bike—but as a father, caregiver, and coach. Though he no longer coaches actively, Ronnie remains deeply introspective about the physical and emotional costs of his career. His son, now pursuing a degree in psychology, is one of his proudest legacies. Ronnie's story is not just about racing success; it's about resilience, recovery, and the importance of mental health awareness in high-impact sports. He urges current riders, families, and industry stakeholders to take concussions seriously and proactively seek help when needed. His vulnerability and raw honesty serve as a gift to the motocross community—one he hopes will prevent future athletes from enduring the same pain in silence.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Coach Robb: The Vet Show - Ep. 14
Many riders mistakenly believe they have more time than they do to prepare for major races like Loretta Lynn’s, Mammoth, or World Vets. Time passes quickly, and the six months required to properly build a base of aerobic conditioning, strength, and endurance can slip by unnoticed. This episode emphasized the importance of reverse engineering your race season: start by identifying weaknesses from your last race, then plan training blocks to build aerobic durability, strength, and speed in the right order. Sprint work and motos without a foundation only increase the risk of injury and burnout. It’s not about doing more—it's about doing the right things at the right time. One of the biggest mistakes vet riders make is ignoring race-specific needs like start execution and terrain simulation. A rider might qualify through a flat local track, then struggle at Loretta’s due to its heat, humidity, and deeper competition. Coach Robb emphasized the need to match your training to your race goals—not just in conditioning but in skill-specific areas like starts. Poor starts expose gaps in strength, balance, and reaction timing, especially under fatigue. Riders are encouraged to use tools like the Risk Racing start gate, track starts with a stopwatch, and build proprioceptive strength to simulate the demands of a race holeshot. Finally, a realistic weekly plan must account for real-life constraints. Riders juggling families, careers, and maintenance can't train like a factory pro. Instead of overtraining or mimicking social media influencers pushing unsustainable protocols like intermittent fasting or aggressive strength routines, Coach Robb urges riders to focus on sleep, hydration, and consistent movement. Protect ride days with quality recovery and realistic effort during the week. The goal isn’t just to survive Loretta’s or World Vets—it’s to show up fresh, functional, and confident enough to enjoy the experience and race to your potential.► Build an Aerobic & Strength Base EarlyStart at least six months ahead of your race with structured aerobic and strength cycles before layering in speed or sprint work.► Train Your Starts with PrecisionUse tools like a Risk Racing gate and stopwatch to simulate real starts. Measure your time through the first turn and refine execution.► Prepare for Race-Specific Terrain & ConditionsIf racing Loretta’s or World Vets, your training must include heat conditioning, elevation simulation, and surface variation.► Design a Weekly Plan Around Your LifeBase your training on realistic availability. Navigating Amateur MX Ep. 16 - Arm Pump Part 2
In Episode #16, the discussion continues on the root causes and practical solutions to arm pump, especially as riders move into the summer heat and intense regional racing. Emphasis is placed on the symbiotic relationship between the rider and the motorcycle—both must be optimized independently and together to avoid muscular overload and performance breakdown. Suspension setup, proprioceptive balance, and physical conditioning all work in tandem to help riders handle stress from rough terrain, heat, and high-pressure racing conditions. Adjustments to sag, fork height, and clickers are often overlooked but can completely transform the feel and control of the bike, directly influencing arm pump.Coach Robb explains how off-bike strength training must be tailored to the movement patterns of riding, focusing on muscle symmetry and perceptive balance. A rider with imbalances—such as leg atrophy from a previous injury—may unknowingly shift weight inconsistently, causing instability and unnecessary muscular strain. These micro-compensations result in over-gripping and eventual arm pump. On-bike fitness remains irreplaceable, but when seat time is limited due to life circumstances, off-bike training must be targeted and strategic, using tools like the Garmin dashboard to monitor recovery, HRV, body battery, and stress.Ultimately, the episode stresses the importance of predictability over perfection in both bike setup and physiological readiness. Riders often blame suspension or bike setup at critical moments, when in reality, physiological fatigue, poor sleep, hydration, and mental stress are often the underlying issues. Using Garmin data, practicing under race-like conditions, and focusing on emotional and logistical readiness ensures riders show up balanced, strong, and confident. Consistency, not extremity, wins races—and avoiding injury means being smart about volume, timing, and personal readiness!Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 15 - Arm Pump: Physical & Mechanical Part 1
Coach Robb Beams and Derek Harris (HP Race Development) tackle one of the most misunderstood issues in racing performance: the root cause of arm pump. Too often, parents and riders default to blaming suspension setups or motor output, but as the discussion reveals, most of these issues stem from physiological deficiencies—specifically, inadequate strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity. Mechanical upgrades are only effective if the rider’s body is equally prepared to handle the forces involved. Without proper warm-up, hydration, fueling, and muscular pliability, even the most advanced bike setup will fall short under race-day pressure. The conversation highlights a recurring problem in amateur development: chasing short-term results at the expense of long-term potential. Robb and Derek emphasize that success at elite events like Loretta Lynn’s has more to do with adaptability, rider IQ, and consistent physiological data than horsepower or flashy parts. Race day rarely mirrors practice conditions, so riders must learn to pivot mid-moto—adjusting lines, recovering from poor starts, and staying composed through deteriorating terrain. Metrics like lap-time variance, heart rate thresholds, and throttle consistency are far more telling than finishes alone, and should guide both rider development and parental expectations.Ultimately, this episode reinforces that peak performance isn’t accidental—it’s built. Real progress demands a holistic blueprint: mechanical development must mirror physiological maturity, and both should evolve based on data. Parents are encouraged to audit their child’s program by asking “why” behind every training or equipment decision. If the answer doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, it’s time to reevaluate. True success comes from building durable, adaptable athletes who can handle adversity—physically, mentally, and mechanically—under the most demanding race conditions.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show w/Toolman Dan - Ep. 11 Preparation - Evaluation & Recovery
Episode 11 of The Vet Show focuses on three primary aspects of motocross race readiness: preparation, race evaluation, and recovery. These components are especially crucial for veteran riders, who often balance training with the demands of family, career, and limited time.► Preparation: preparation is foundational for peak performance. However, it's important to understand that no fitness gains are made in the week leading up to a race. 1. Nutrition plays a significant role in preparation. Rather than radically changing dietary habits before a race, riders should maintain consistency with meals they know work for them. The body benefits from routine. If certain foods or meal patterns contributed to a successful training session or race, those should be replicated leading into competitive events. 2. Monitoring hydration is another key aspect. Daily water needs can be estimated by taking body weight (in pounds), dividing it by two, and consuming that number in ounces over the course of the day. Additional fluid intake should account for sweat loss during riding. 3. Weight training is beneficial, particularly for older athletes. Resistance work supports joint integrity, muscle strength, bone density, testosterone production, and injury resilience. However, during the competitive season, strength training volume should be tapered to avoid excessive fatigue.► Race Evaluation: post-race evaluation is an essential learning tool. Winning alone doesn't provide the full picture of performance. Metrics such as lap times, lap consistency, and lap-time deviation offer insight into race strategy and execution.1. Lap consistency and negative splits (increasing speed across laps) demonstrate control and pacing. When a rider maintains even lap times or speeds up throughout the race, it's a sign of solid physical preparation and strategic planning. Conversely, large deviations—particularly slowing lap times—can indicate overexertion or insufficient endurance.2. Using tools like a Garmin to track heart rate data in tandem with transponder lap times helps analyze when a rider crosses their anaerobic threshold or succumbs to fatigue. This data can clarify whether a decline in performance was due to poor strategy, lack of fitness, or situational errors (e.g., stalling or crashing).3. Riders are encouraged to evaluate their performance beyond results. For example, average lap time during practice should be used as a benchmark for current track conditions. Discarding the fastest and slowest laps and averaging the remaining laps provides a realisCoach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur MX Ep. 13 - Preparing for Daytona & Freestone
Building a champion isn’t a matter of raw talent alone—it takes deliberate effort, discipline, and meticulous planning over many months. Success on the track stems from refining every detail, from tuning engine performance with careful fuel testing to balancing the chassis and suspension. Teams plan their schedules around major events like Daytona and the Texas Nationals, often taking a strategic hiatus after races such as Loretta to recalibrate their motor packages and ensure that every component is in sync. Proven methods and consistent maintenance—like regular motor rotation and suspension checks—help transform promising equipment into a reliable, competitive edge.Equally critical is the rider’s technique and the habits they form early on. Many young racers, imitating what they see, develop suboptimal throttle control and gear-shifting patterns that restrict their potential, even when using identical motor packages as top competitors. A powerful start—marked by aggressive, wide-open throttle, precise shifting, and smart cornering—is what distinguishes winners from those who fall short. Even minor differences in partial throttle management can lead to significant lap time discrepancies, proving that success on the track is as much about how power is applied as it is about the power itself.Ultimately, continuous improvement relies on effective communication and a robust feedback loop between riders, mechanics, and engineers. Racers must learn to articulate specific issues—whether it’s a stiff front end, squatting in corners, or a bike that isn’t fully “wide open”—so that targeted adjustments can be made. Data from both on-track performance and physiological measures, such as heart rate readings, help fine-tune setups and inform strategic decisions. By embracing every lesson, refining technique, and consistently communicating their needs, both equipment and athlete evolve in tandem, bridging the gap between amateur promise and professional excellence.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 11
Welcome to Episode #11 of Navigating Amateur Motocross where Derek Harris, with HP Race Development, and myself dive deep into the eternal debate between power and suspension upgrades. We discuss why a rider's perception and experience often matter more than raw horsepower, and how proper throttle control and shifting techniques can maximize your bike's potential (and improve your overall speed). We also discuss why identical stock bikes can feel completely different to different riders and discover the importance of maintaining a reference point when making modifications.Understanding the relationship between power and suspension is crucial for success in motocross. Derek and I explore how increased horsepower affects shifting patterns, why proper jetting is essential for optimal performance, and how the gyroscopic effect of the crankshaft influences suspension behavior. After this discussion, you will understand why riding in the bike's sweet spot and mastering throttle control without relying on the clutch can lead to better lap times and improved control. Finally, we explored the evolving landscape of professional motocross, including team dynamics, rookie development, and the importance of long-term commitment to athlete development. Drawing from examples of successful programs like Pro-Circuit and international training approaches, we discussed why immediate success shouldn't be the primary focus for developing riders and how proper preparation, both mental and physical, remains fundamental to achieving lasting success in the riding and racing.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show: Episode 8 with Toolman Dan
In this episode of The Vet Show, part of the Coach Robb Podcast Network, Toolman Dan and I tackle the critical foundation of time management and goal setting for Vet riders and racers. As the year winds down, we discussed how many of us set lofty goals early in the year, but often fall short due to a lack of time, not motivation. We outlined that success starts with identifying where your time goes and removing unnecessary distractions. Whether it's planning meals, scheduling workouts, or cutting down on excessive screen time on your phone, creating an efficient system that improves your projected vs actual completion schedule (remember, you can’t manage time, only yourself) is the key to incremental improvement in all aspects of life (personally, professionally, financially and athletically). We also walked through the importance of starting small and building consistent habits. Even something as simple as a 15-minute walk daily can lead to significant progress over time. Forming a habit isn’t about going all-in immediately; it’s about showing up and doing something, no matter how small, to lay the groundwork for consistency. By reducing barriers—like prepping meals ahead or creating reminders for tasks—you can save time and set yourself up for success in other areas like family, riding, racing, fitness and nutrition.Additionally, we explored the importance of establishing physical baseline numbers. Having a starting point with important elements like body measurements, food logs, time trials, maximum heart rate assessments along with accurate heart rate zones are all imperative for elevating your speed and endurance on the motorcycle. Finally, we discussed how frustrations are actually what’s holding you back and by directly addressing your frustrations provides you with the actual solutions to your frustrations (of all sizes).Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur MX - Episode 10
During Episode #10, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Derek to explore the multifaceted challenges of amateur motocross, diving deep into topics like bike setup and technological innovation. Derek shared how he recently rekindled his passion for research and development after feeling stuck in routine work. Leveraging advancements in CNC machining and 3D printing, he’s been working on groundbreaking projects that push the limits of motocross equipment. One particularly fascinating initiative he highlighted was the creation of interchangeable 3D-printed cylinder head ports, enabling rapid testing of different designs without committing to costly, permanent modifications. This innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize development and experimentation in the sport, making high-level customization more accessible to riders and teams. Our conversation then shifted to the critical importance of understanding a bike’s baseline performance before investing in major adjustments or aftermarket parts. Derek emphasized that small tweaks—such as sag, fork height, and clicker settings—can drastically improve a bike’s performance, an insight I strongly agree with. I shared how journaling after every ride is an invaluable tool for tracking what works and what doesn’t, allowing riders to fine-tune their setups for a balance that suits diverse track conditions. We stressed the importance of optimizing for overall performance across a track, even if it means accepting compromises in specific sections. This holistic approach to motocross, when paired with proper rider preparation—like hydration, nutrition, and mental clarity—creates a powerful formula for success. Ultimately, we concluded that consistent effort, thoughtful adjustments, and a commitment to the learning process are what separate great riders from the rest.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show: 40th Annual Dubya World Vet MX Championships Recap Show
In episode seven of the Vet Show, Toolman Dan and I explore the legacy of the number seven in motocross, spotlighting iconic riders like Jeff Stanton, James Stewart, and other legends associated with this number. Our main focus was on the World Vets event at Glen Helen, where we discussed the track’s demanding layout, including its steep inclines, rough terrain, and the distinctive moto culture in California. We also discussed the impressive skill of local riders at Glen Helen, noting that even those finishing outside the top spots showcased incredible speed and talent – a testament to the competitive spirit of the moto community. Visiting Glen Helen’s Hall of Fame added a rich historical layer to the experience, where I felt inspired by the legacy of pioneers like the White brothers, who were instrumental in advancing four-stroke technology. Our conversation further touched on the physical demands of racing at Glen Helen, emphasizing the importance of inner thigh strength, depth perception, and flexibility for navigating its challenging terrain. The electric Stark bikes stood out, outperforming traditional bikes in some ways and hinting at a shift in the sport’s future dynamics. Finally, we touched on the level of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the World Vets competitors. I left the legendary Glen Helen track with lasting memories and a renewed respect for the sport’s storied history.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross Ep 09 - Outlining 2025
During this episode, we’re focusing on the future of amateur motocross, especially as we look ahead to 2025. Many listeners have emailed us with questions, and Derek and I have also been discussing some new directions for the show, aiming to deliver even more value and insight into motocross training, industry sponsorships, and best practices for riders at all levels. As Derek and I discussed, one of the key themes we want to emphasize is the importance of understanding context in motocross. Whether it’s assessing sponsorship dynamics, understanding mechanical tuning, or applying training insights, context is everything. A lot of parents and young riders see successful athletes and want to emulate them without fully understanding the underlying principles that led to those results. For example, using data from tools like Garmin to track everything from sweat rates to calorie burn gives a comprehensive view, but without understanding how to interpret and apply this data, it's just numbers. Our goal is to help listeners bridge that gap, offering insights on common mechanical and physical performance issues, and helping them avoid mistakes by learning from the experiences of others. In terms of training, we dove into how we can realistically set fitness goals for athletes, especially when their fitness levels are already high. Rather than looking for drastic changes, I focus on incremental improvements in six-week blocks, where small gains add up over time. Our four pillars—preparation, consistent training, strategic approach, and recovery—allow us to optimize performance by addressing each area individually and then as a whole. For example, ensuring proper nutrition and recovery is essential because overexertion early in a race can derail even the fittest athlete. By tracking all these metrics and understanding each rider's unique strengths and weaknesses, we help them create a balanced approach to training and race strategy that can yield consistent and improved results.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/
