The Daly Dose with Mike Daly

The Daly Dose is a collection of Scripture-centered Bible studies and theological teaching. I began recording these talks to supplement my weekly in-person Bible study nights—so they could be accessed, revisited, or shared more easily. These studies represent my attempt to synthesize what I’ve learned through Scripture, theological study, and engagement with the broader Christian tradition. I draw from many authors, teachers, and conversations, seeking to explore God’s Word carefully and faithfully, encouraging listeners to be Bereans and test everything against Scripture.

    #15 Hearing Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28 is one of the most familiar verses in Scripture—but also one of the most easily assumed. In this study, we slow down and revisit the passage in context, tracing Paul’s argument and asking what he is actually saying. Rather than building from a single phrase, we follow the full section to see how the meaning comes into focus.

  2. 19

    #14 God, Justice, and Violence

Some Old Testament passages raise difficult questions—especially where God appears to command violence. How do we reconcile these with His goodness? In this study, we slow down and examine the conquest narratives in their biblical and historical context, considering God’s justice, patience, and the language of the text. Ultimately, we follow the story forward to Jesus, where justice and mercy meet at the cross.

  3. 18

#13 Hebrews 6 — Letting the Text Speak

Hebrews 6 is one of the most discussed passages in the NewTestament, and readers have wrestled with it in many different ways.In this study, rather than beginning with those debates, we slow down and simply read the passage carefully. By tracing the flow of the argument and paying close attention to the language, we ask a foundational question: what happens when we let the text speak before we try to answer any theological questions surrounding it?

  4. 17

    Rediscovering Communion (Bonus Episode)

In this bonus reflection, we take a closer look at one of the most familiar practices in the Christian life: communion — something many believers participate in regularly, yet often take for granted. Is the Lord’s Supper simply a symbolic reminder of the cross, or does Scripture point to something deeper? In this study, we slow down and examine what the Bible says about communion, how the earliest Christians understood it, and why the Lord’s Table held such an important place in the life of the church.

  5. 16

When “Spirit-Led” Drifts: Lessons from the Early Church (Bonus Episode)

In this bonus reflection, we examine what we really mean when we say “Spirit-led.” Is spiritual vitality the same as spontaneity? Is structure inherently unspiritual?Looking to Scripture and the witness of the early church, we consider how certain instincts—however sincere—can begin to separate spiritual experience from the visible, ordered life of the Church. The early Christians had to confront similar patterns. This episode argues that the Holy Spirit does not operate in tension with Scripture, leadership, or church structure, but through them. A healthy, biblical vision of the Church holds together Word and Spirit, vitality and order, freedom and faithfulness.

  6. 15

#12 Rapture, End Times, and Reading Prophecy Carefully

In this study, we examine several passages often used in discussions about the rapture and the end times — including 1 Thessalonians 4, Daniel 8, and Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21.Rather than beginning with a system or timeline, we slow down and ask a simpler question: What do these texts actually say? We’ll consider how prophecy functions in Scripture, how historical fulfillment shapes our reading, and how Jesus’ own words in the Olivet Discourse should guide our understanding.

  7. 14

#11 Joy, Hope, and the Power of the Holy Spirit

What does the Bible really mean when it speaks about the power of the Holy Spirit? In this study, we look carefully at several New Testament passages and consider how the Spirit works in the life of the believer.

  8. 13

    #10 Seventh-day Adventism — Series Part 4 of 4

In this final study of our four-part series, we examine Seventh-day Adventist theology carefully and respectfully. We explore the movement’s history, authority claims, Sabbath observance, the Investigative Judgment, the sanctuary doctrine, remnant identity, and their understanding of salvation by grace.Adventists share significant common ground with historic Christianity, yet important tensions remain—especially around assurance, law, and the finished work of Christ. Our goal is not division, but discernment: affirming zeal for holiness while guarding rest in the completed work of Jesus.

  9. 12

    #9 Jehovah's Witnesses - Series Part 3 of 4

In this study, we examine the theology of Jehovah’s Witnesses in light of Scripture. We look at their understanding of Jesus, salvation, authority, resurrection, and the role of the Governing Body — comparing key Watchtower teachings with the historic Christian gospel. Our aim is not division, but biblical discernment — speaking truth with clarity and charity, always pointing back to the finished work of Christ.

  10. 11

#8 Tithes & Offerings: From Obligation to Overflow

What did giving actually look like in the Old Testament? Was it simply a rigid 10% rule—or something richer? In this study, we walk through a “year in the life” of an Israelite under the law and then follow that thread into the New Testament. From temple sacrifices to gospel partnership, from calendar-based tithes to Spirit-led generosity, we explore how giving moves from obligation under law to overflow under grace.

  11. 10

#7 Christmas Story — Tradition or Scripture?

Many of us know the Christmas story by heart — but how much comes directly from Scripture, and how much from tradition? In this study, we slow down and read Luke 2 carefully, distinguishing between what the text says and what we’ve assumed. The goal isn’t to dismiss tradition, but to grow in reading Scripture attentively and faithfully.

  12. 9

    #6 Mormonism — Series Part 2 of 4

In this second installment of a four-part series, we examine the origins and teachings of Mormonism (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Beginning with Joseph Smith’s first vision and the Book of Mormon, we trace the historical development of the movement and its restoration claims. We then compare core LDS doctrines—God, Jesus Christ, salvation, exaltation, priesthood authority, and scripture—with the historic Christian gospel. Our goal is not argument but discernment: to understand Mormonism accurately, speak with charity, and evaluate every teaching in light of Scripture.

  13. 8

    #5 Catholicism — Series Part 1 of 4

In this first study of a four-part series, we examine Roman Catholicism carefully and respectfully. What do Catholics actually teach about authority, the Church, justification, salvation, the sacraments, the Eucharist, Mary, purgatory, and final judgment? Where do Catholic and Protestant convictions align—and where do they diverge in ways that affect the clarity of the gospel? Our goal is not argument but discernment: to understand Catholic doctrine on its own terms, affirm what is true and beautiful, and evaluate every teaching in light of Scripture. Truth and grace together.

  14. 7

#4 Cleansed Homes, Cleansed Hearts: A Divine Inspection

At first glance, Leviticus 14 reads like instructions for dealing with mold in a house. But what if it’s revealing something deeper? In this study, we trace the cleansing of a defiled house and explore its spiritual parallels—conviction, confession, examination, repentance, renewal, and ultimately restoration. From the removal of diseased stones to the ritual of the two birds, we see a pattern of how God exposes, purifies, and restores what He intends to dwell in. Holiness is not about condemnation, but about making room again for His presence.

  15. 6

#3 God, to Lord, to My Lord

What does it really mean to call Jesus “Lord”? This study traces the biblical language behind God (Elohim), LORD (Yahweh), and Lord/Master (Adonai), following the thread from Job through the Old Testament and into the New. Along the way, we explore how the early Christians applied Yahweh-texts to Jesus and what “Lord” meant in their world—covenant allegiance, authority, surrender. The question isn’t just whether we believe in God, but whether we can say with Thomas: “My Lord and my God.”

  16. 5

#2 Hell, Judgement and the Second Death

What does the Bible actually teach about hell and final judgment? In this study, we trace Scripture’s language—Gehenna, eternal punishment, destruction, the lake of fire, and the second death—to understand the final horizon clearly and honestly. We compare Eternal Conscious Torment and Conditional Immortality, listen to Jesus and the apostles, and ask how judgment should shape our worship, repentance, and hope in Christ.

  17. 4

#1 What happens When We Die? Heaven, Sheol, and the Christian Hope

Is heaven the goal? Many assume the Christian hope is simply “going to heaven.” In this study, we trace the biblical story from death to resurrection, exploring what it truly means to be with Christ and why the final hope is not disembodied existence, but new creation.

Introduction — What This Is (and Isn’t)

This introductory episode explains what The Daly Dose is and what it isn’t. These recordings are simply the audio versions of my Wednesday night Bible studies, shared for accessibility and review. They reflect my effort to study Scripture in community, drawing from the broader Christian tradition while encouraging listeners to be Bereans—testing everything against the Word of God. Confidence in tone does not equal final authority; the goal is thoughtful, faithful engagement with Scripture together.
