The Yoga of Doing Less with Carter Miles
Here Jordan interviews yoga teacher and therapist Carter Miles, who teaches at Present Practice Yoga in Austin and offers a signature program, The Art of Breathing, focused on healing breathing habits and empowering people through breath awareness. Carter describes yoga as a lifelong practice for understanding and improving the body, breath, and mind, and discusses the Pranamaya Kosha as a subtle “in-between” medium through which thoughts influence physiology and vice versa, accessed most directly through breath. He emphasizes that breath knowledge is common but consistent practice is rare, and critiques overly absolute, scientific, or branded notions of “real” yoga while advocating depth, simplicity, and lived experience. Carter shares his path from weightlifting, psychedelics, meditation, and Buddhism into heated power vinyasa and wide training exposure, explains “breathe less” via carbon dioxide’s role in oxygen delivery and endurance, and outlines practices like breath holds, mantra meditation, and building resilience. He closes with quickfire reflections and where to find him on Instagram and at Breath Club. Find Jordan on IG here! Find Carter on IG here!

Move Your Energy
Jordan introduces the Prana Vayus system to evaluate how life force energy (prana) rides on the breath and how imbalances can be brought into balance. Using a half-filled cup as a visual aid, they explain the five values: apana (down and out, release and elimination), prana (in and up, what we consume through all senses), samana (digestion and assimilation of what’s taken in), udana (up and out, expression, supported by voice and mantra), and vyana (assimilation and understanding from inner to periphery). They connect the values to boundaries, pelvic floor and breath mechanics, and bandhas (pelvic floor, diaphragm, vocal diaphragm) as tools to regulate the nervous system, along with calming “langhana” and energizing “brahmana” techniques, and invite listeners to YouTube for accompanying practices. Minding My Own Damn Business
In this episode, Jordan talks about “minding your own damn business” as a practice of managing personal energy within the pranamaya Kosha by calling energy back, turning inward, witnessing what is present, and establishing a baseline through self-care (including physical needs like nutrients). They note how others’ emotions and constant media input can scatter energy, and recommend separating what is yours from what belongs to others, referencing The Courage to Be Disliked and the idea of locus of control. A David Bowie/Labyrinth synchronicity leads to the takeaway: “you have no power over me,” as a reclaiming of power. They reflect on self-study, slowing down content timelines to honor current energy, and cultivating quiet, rest, and grounding routines. They also cite Agility Quotient’s concept of “anchors,” linking it to Ayurvedic dinacharya and yoga practices for navigating modern “churn.” The episode closes with the mantra “namah” (not mine) Book with Jordan or find shownotes here! Yogi Tea-Change Your Energy
In this episode, Jordan continues the “Yogi Tea” Dharma Chat series on the Koshas, focusing on the second layer, Pranamaya Kosha, as life-force energy (prana) that bridges the physical body and subtle systems and is strongly shaped by breath and nervous-system states. Using a yoga-therapy lens (yogic principles alongside Western medicine), Jordan describes how anxiety can reflect high, fast prana and depression low, heavy prana, and emphasizes techniques to shift energy through posture, breath, and opening energetic channels (nadis), linking the central channel to vagal tone and describing Ida and Pingala as balancing forces. Jordan discusses Ayurveda’s method of restoring balance via opposite qualities, introduces the gunas (rajas, sattva, tamas), and outlines “langhana” calming practices versus “brimhana” building practices, with examples like extended exhales and forward folds versus breath of fire, sun salutations, and backbends, sharing personal burnout and renewal through a trip to Marfa and Big Bend.
