On April 13, 2026, lawmakers in Mississippi signed a new law called House Bill 1662. This law is important because it helps make sure that children get to spend time with both parents after a divorce. Starting on July 1, 2026, the law will assume that having equal time (50-50) with each parent is what is best for the child.What Does This Law Mean?1. Equal Time with Parents: When a couple gets divorced, the court will start by saying that both parents should have equal time with the child. This means the child will spend half of their time with one parent and half with the other, unless someone can show that this would not be good for the child.2. Changing the Presumption: If a parent believes that 50-50 time is not best for their child, they must provide strong evidence to prove it. The court will consider this evidence and can decide to change the arrangement if necessary.3. Documenting Decisions: If the court decides not to follow the equal time rule, they must write down why this decision was made. However, if both parents agree on a different plan, they can use that instead.4. Child Support Adjustments: The law also changes how child support payments are calculated when parents have equal or nearly equal time with their child.Why is This Law Important?Mississippi is now the sixth state to support shared parenting. The law was passed with a lot of support, showing that many people believe it will help families. The vote was overwhelming, with the House approving it 90 to 10 and the Senate 39 to 10. Supporters think that this law will lead to fewer court battles between parents after a divorce. This incident happened right after Justin received divorce papers, and he was set to appear in court on April 21.Justin and Cerina got married in 2006 but began separating in June 2024. Cerina filed for divorce, claiming Justin failed to follow their prenuptial agreement. She accused him of not paying for their children's school fees, household bills, groceries, or mortgage, leaving her to support the family financially.Justin disputed Cerina's claims, arguing that her wish to be separated while living together was unreasonable. Cerina then alleged that Justin was an alcoholic with serious accusations of sexual assault against him. In a tragic incident, former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife Cerina, were found d*ad in their Annandale home. Police reported that this heartbreaking event occurred amid a complicated divorce. Fairfax, a once-prominent figure in the Democratic Party, faced serious allegations of sexual assault in the past, which damaged his political career.Cerina, a successful dentist and caring mother, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inflicted by her husband before he took his own life. This child support hearing presided by Judge Maurice Aguilar in Dallas, Texas. Mom and Dad used to live together. Mom decided to end the relationship and kick Dad out of the apartment. Dad left and took the child with him. Dad raised a child up till 14 years old. Dad needed some help and so he applied for government assistance. Mom was required to pay child support. When Mom heard that, Mom decided to ask for a DNA test because now she doesn’t believe the man that’s been raising their child for 14 years is not the biological father. Starting in September, Texas schools will have greater authority to suspend younger students and those without stable housing due to House Bill 6, a new law allowing out-of-school suspensions for students below third grade and for those classified as homeless. This law replaces a 2019 regulation that limited suspensions for homeless students to serious offenses, such as violence, drugs, or weapons. The intent behind the new legislation is to assist teachers in managing classrooms more effectively, especially in the wake of challenges posed by the pandemic.Although the previous law will no longer be enforced, districts like East Central Independent School District (ECISD) and Northside Independent School District (NISD) are still addressing past violations related to wrongful suspensions of homeless students. Defining homelessness can also be complex, as different schools may interpret criteria differently, based on the McKinney-Vento Act. Both NISD and ECISD are implementing plans to retrain staff on disciplinary measures and develop alternative approaches to discipline, as the new law is expected to increase suspension rates for serious disruptions or threats to safety while promoting inclusivity in school admissions.Please like, comment and subscribe. On Friday, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to partially pause a lower court's ruling that had blocked former President Trump's order to end birthright citizenship. This order sought to prevent automatic U.S. citizenship for babies born in the U.S. to parents living in the country illegally or temporarily.*Key Aspects of the DecisionThe Supreme Court justices stated that universal injunctions, which prevent the government from enforcing laws nationwide, are unacceptable. However, they did not rule on the constitutionality of Trump's order itself. In a recent family court dispute, DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) filed a counterclaim against Halle Bailey, alleging she is abusive and has threatened to harm herself to manipulate him emotionally. Bailey has previously accused DDG of physical abuse, leading to a temporary restraining order. DDG claims Bailey has hit him, stalked him, and used their 18-month-old son, Halo, as a pawn by threatening to get an abortion or deny him access to the child.In his legal filings, DDG provided messages from Bailey expressing s*ic*dal thoughts and recounted instances where she threatened to take her life. He is requesting that Bailey stay away from him and that they share custody of Halo, who currently resides with her. He also wants to prevent her from taking Halo to Italy for a film shoot, citing concerns for their safety.Bailey’s representatives have not yet responded to the new allegations, but her attorney claims DDG's accusations are inaccurate. A hearing for permanent restraining orders is scheduled for June 24. This approach, sometimes called the "nuclear option," can have serious consequences, such as quickly separating people from their homes, children, and possessions. Many believe that Halle and her legal team used this tactic to win full custody of their son, allowing her to be in Italy for two months while filming.

Before we get into this news, let me first say this: WE DO NOT CONDONE FAMILY VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND. If you’re cruel to your family, you deserve to be in jail. With that said, here is a key point to remember about cases like these: When a judge hands down a verdict, that case can later be used as a template for similar cases. In other words, if you’re married or in divorce proceedings, your wife can use this case as an example to accuse you of rape if, at any point in your marriage, the sex was not consensual.In Cherokee County, Nicholas Mittenmeyer has been sentenced to life in prison for raping and abusing his wife. The wife sought to raise awareness about marital rape, emphasizing that sexual assault within marriage is still a crime and that abusers must be held accountable.Key points from the case include:- Mittenmeyer, 45, received a life sentence plus an additional 20 years from Judge Shannon Wallace, which exceeded prosecutors' expectations.- He was convicted after a five-day trial on charges of rape, aggravated assault related to family violence, and false imprisonment on March 21.- The investigation began six months after the victim reported the assault, which she delayed due to believing that marriage exempted her from rape laws.- Upon realizing the truth about consent, the wife confronted Mittenmeyer and recorded their conversation, where he did not deny the assault, providing crucial evidence for the trial.- Evidence revealed a long history of abuse, including physical and sexual violence against his wife.- The wife hopes her story encourages others in abusive relationships to seek help and reinforces that "rape is a crime, whether married or not."The case highlights the complexities surrounding allegations of marital abuse, especially concerning custody disputes. NBA star Anthony Edwards is currently facing a paternity lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Alexandria Descroches (Ally D), who filed the suit in New York on March 13, 2025. Ally claims they have a son born in 2023, and soon after her filing, Anthony responded by filing his own paternity and support case in Georgia on March 21, asserting that their child was conceived and born in Georgia.Ally counters that they moved to New York with their son in February 2024 and argues that Anthony's lawsuit should be dismissed, as it does not meet the criteria for Georgia to be considered the child's home state. Xavier Davis, a 32-year-old man from Texas, has pleaded guilty to capital murder for the June 30, 2021, killings of a Houston couple, Gregory Carhee and Donyavia Lagway, along with their 6-year-old daughter, Harmony. Davis broke into the family's apartment and shot the parents in front of their children, fatally injuring Harmony, while her 10-year-old sister pretended to be dead to survive. Davis was arrested shortly after the incident on charges of capital murder and aggravated assault. A second suspect, Alexus Williamson, who allegedly ordered the attacks, has been arrested and is scheduled for trial later this year. A new bill aimed at relaxing child labor laws was introduced to a Florida Senate committee this week. This follows some restrictions that were already loosened last year. Governor Ron DeSantis and some Republican lawmakers believe this bill will help fill jobs left vacant by undocumented immigrants. Senate Bill 918 would allow children as young as 14 to work overnight shifts and would eliminate meal break requirements for 16- and 17-year-olds. It would also let them work unlimited hours during the school year. I was going to release this full episode, but I decided against it because of the sensitive content. It was a four-hour episode that I shortened to create a trailer focusing on the importance of fathers being present and active in their children's lives. As parents, we need to be very mindful of how we treat our kids. Many of us (grown) still deal with childhood trauma and mental issues because of how we were raised.
