Have we actually changed… or just become more religious?
Send us Fan MailIn this episode, Dee and Jodie dive into a challenging but honest conversation about the difference between looking Christian and actually being transformed from the inside out. It’s easy to fall into routines, follow the “right” habits, and still feel disconnected from God.We talk about: The difference between religion and real heart change Why behaviour shifts faster than inner transformation The tension between doing the “right things” and feeling spiritually distant How comparison, routine, and performance can quietly replace relationship The truth that real change is slower, deeper, and often less visible than we expect Through personal reflections and scripture—including 1 Samuel 16:7, Romans 12:2, Matthew 7:21, and more—we unpack what it really means to be transformed, not just outwardly, but internally. This episode isn’t about judgement—it’s about honesty. It’s about asking the hard questions: Am I just going through the motions? Am I actually closer to God… or just consistent with routine? What is God still trying to change in me? Good Friday Special
Send us Fan MailOn this Special Good Friday episode, we pause our usual series to reflect on one of the most significant moments in history—the crucifixion of Jesus—and the powerful words He spoke from the cross.“When they came to the place called the Skull… Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’” (Luke 23:33–34)In the midst of betrayal, suffering, mockery, and unimaginable pain, Jesus responds not with anger—but with forgiveness. In this conversation, Dee and Jodie unpack the depth of that moment and what it reveals about the heart of God.This episode explores: The weight and meaning of Jesus’ words on the cross The power of forgiveness in the face of injustice The story of the two criminals crucified beside Him (Luke 23:39–43) What it means that forgiveness is already offered—not earned How Good Friday speaks personally into our lives today Romans 5:8 reminds us: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Whether you're carrying guilt, regret, or hurt, or you're seeking to understand the meaning of the cross more deeply, this episode is a reminder that forgiveness, grace, and love were at the center of it all.Good Friday is not just something that happened—it’s something that was done for you. - You are forgiven. - You are seen. - You are deeply loved.Subscribe for more conversations that explore faith, Scripture, and the message of Jesus.Support the show=========================================Support the show - simply follow the link below.https:/www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross========================================= Like listening to us? - Why not watch us toohttps://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast========================================= Visit our websitehttps://themuddycross.com=========================================

Who Are You Now?
Send us Fan MailHave you ever felt like your past still defines you? Even while following Jesus? In this episode, Dee and Jodie unpack what it really means to be a new creation in Christ. Looking at Peter’s restoration in John 21, we explore how Jesus doesn’t shame our failures. He restores us, redefines us, and calls us forward. This isn’t about trying harder. It’s about living from what’s already true: 👉 You are loved 👉 You are forgiven 👉 You are restored And you’re not meant to figure that out alone. 💬 Key takeaway: We don’t behave our way into a new life — we live from our identity. 📖 Scriptures: John 21:15–19Romans 8:1 2 Corinthians 5:17 Hebrews 10:24–25 1 John 3:1 Next episode: Living grace daily when life gets messy. Beyond the what . . . into the why - Episode 2 - "Who Is Jesus… Really? (The Woman at the Well Explained)
Send us Fan MailWho is Jesus really? In John 4, the story of the Woman at the Well reveals more than a miracle — it reveals His heart. In Episode 2 of The Muddy Cross, we move beyond surface-level belief and ask a deeper question:Who are we actually putting our trust in?Many of us know facts about Jesus — He healed the sick, taught in parables, died on a cross. But knowing information about someone isn’t the same as knowing them.In John 4:1–42, we see something different.Jesus meets a woman who is: • Socially isolated • Avoiding people • Carrying shame • Searching for fulfilmentAnd instead of leading with correction, He begins with conversation.Instead of rules, He offers relationship. Instead of condemnation, He offers living water. In this episode, we explore:✔ Who Jesus reveals Himself to first ✔ Why He makes Himself vulnerable in the conversation ✔ What “living water” truly means ✔ Why Jesus reveals identity before behaviour ✔ How this changes the way we understand faithThe Woman at the Well didn’t leave with better theology. She left feeling seen. And maybe that’s what knowing Jesus really looks like.📖 Anchor Scripture:John 4:1–42 — The Woman at the Well💭 Practical Reflection for This Week:1️⃣ Ask Jesus: Who do You want to be to me right now? 2️⃣ Notice where you’re looking for fulfilment. 3️⃣ Spend time in John 4 — not to analyse, but to observe how Jesus speaks. If you’re new to faith — or coming back after distance — hear this:Jesus isn’t waiting for you to clean yourself up. He meets people where they are. And He always leads with grace.🎙 Subscribe to The Muddy Cross for honest conversations about faith, identity, and real life. 👍 Like & comment: What stood out to you in John 4? 🔔 Turn on notifications so you don’t miss the next episode.Next Episode: Why God wants relationship, not performance — and why that matters more than we realise.Jesus doesn’t just change lives. The Muddy Cross - Grace in the Storm
Send us Fan MailHave you ever loved Jesus but still felt like you were drowning? Praying, trusting, and trying to do the right things — yet the storm feels louder than His voice? In this episode, we reflect on Peter walking on water in Matthew 14 and what it reveals about faith, fear, and the steady presence of Jesus. This isn’t about perfect faith or trying harder, but about who Jesus is when obedience still leads into storms and focus begins to drift.Even when Peter began to sink, Jesus reached immediately. And He still does.——————————-The supporting scriptures mentioned in the episode are:-((( Psalms - Storm + steady God )))Psalm 46:1–3“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble…”Why it’s best: literally describes earth shaking + waters roaring, but God is present.Psalm 46:10“Be still, and know that I am God…”Why: anchors the “return to the Word” moment—quiet your soul, refocus.Psalm 56:3–4“When I am afraid, I will trust in You…”Why: short, quotable, fits the Peter moment (fear hits → choose trust).Psalm 107:28–30“Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble… and He made the storm be still…”Why: this one connects directly to storm imagery.((( Philippians 4 - Anxiety → peace )))Philippians 4:6–7 (Top pick)“Do not be anxious about anything… and the peace of God… will guard your hearts…”Why it’s best: this is the “storms get loud, Word louder” scripture.Philippians 4:8“Whatever is true… honorable… just… think about these things.”Why: teaches how to redirect your mind off the waves.Philippians 4:13“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”Why: great closing/confession verse.((( Isaiah 41 - Fear not — I’m with you )))Isaiah 41:10 (Top pick)“Fear not, for I am with you… I will strengthen you…”Why it’s best: this is basically Jesus’ message: “Take courage. It is I.”Isaiah 41:13“For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand…”Why: fits the exact moment Jesus grabs Peter.Isaiah 41:17“When the poor and needy seek water… I the LORD will answer them…”Why: good for desperation/prayer in the storm.Support the show=========================================Support the show - simply follow the link below.https:/www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross========================================= Like listening to us? - Why not watch us toohttps://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast========================================= Visit our websitehttps://themuddycross.com=========================================

From the Garden of Eden to the cross, we look at where blame began, why it feels so natyural and how it quietly keep us stuck. We talk about:Blame as a defence mechanism rooted in shame, fear and pain. The difference between lamenting to God and blaming God.Hoe Jesus dismantles blame and introduces redemption. Why taking responsibility is not self-condemnation, but a path to freedom. This conversation isn't clean, It's honest. The Muddy Cross - Church Share
Send us Fan MailWe were recently invited by our church to share about our recent mission trips to Albania 🇦🇱Over the past few months, we’ve taken part in two short trips (October and November). Some of the stories may already be familiar through our podcast, The Muddy Cross, so today isn’t about repeating what we did — it’s about what God has been teaching us.Mission isn’t just about travelling or projects. It’s about the heart God is forming in us.Albania reminded us that you don’t need to cross a border to be on mission — you simply need to be willing to be sent. Mission begins right where we are: in our workplaces, homes, communities, and sometimes beyond our borders. We also learned that God can use us even when we feel empty or unfinished, that mission is about planting seeds (both big and small), and that it begins not with speaking — but with listening. As we talk, we’ll share photos from both trips and reflect on how Albania has shaped the way we now live on mission every day.Looking ahead, we’re stepping into the next chapter — converting a van and continuing to say yes to where God sends us.Thank you to our church community for making these trips possible. Please pray for us and join us on the journey.🙏 “Here I am, Lord. The Muddy Cross -The Wilderness Walk
Send us Fan MailAt first glance, The Wilderness moment in Luke 4 looks like a showdown between Jesus and the devil. But if you look closer you will find it's actually a powerful masterclass in identity, purpose and spiritual resilience. In this episode, we unpack what really happens when the Spirit leads Jesus into the wilderness and why this moment matters so deeply for our own walk with God. Because the wilderness isn't a punishment.... it's preparation. Before Jesus preaches... Before He heals... Before He gathers followers... He confronts the temptations that could destroy His calling, and so will we. Join us as we explore: Why God sometimes leads us into lonely, silent or difficult seasons. How the enemy often disguises temptation as something good or 'deserved' The three core temptations every believer faces: appetite, ambition and approval. Why shortcuts always cost more than they promise. How Jesus uses Scripture - not willpower - to fight lies with truth. How the Holy Spirit forms us, strengthens us and walks with us in every wilderness. The wilderness is not a place where you are forgotten. It's where you are formed. The Muddy Cross - What is Church?
Send us Fan MailIn this episode of The Muddy Cross Podcast we ask the question, What is Church? As we have moved between communities and travelled, we've often been away from a physical Sunday service, which led us to rethink what Scripture actually teaches. Is church a building, a weekly event or something far more meaningful? We explore the bibical roots of Ekklesia - the early church as a gathering of people united in worship, prayer and shared life. Church wasn't a location; it was a community, a spiritual family.Through verses like Matthew 18:20, Acts 2, and Corinthians 3, we look at how the early believers lived; breaking bread, supporting each other, serving quietly and meeting God together in everyday moments. We discuss how modern Christianity sometimes shifts the focus towards buildings and programs and why it's vital to remember that the people are the church. Our relationship with God and one another is what truly defines the Body of Christ - not the place we meet. This episode is an invitation to rediscover church as a living community. A family that gathers, serves, loves, forgives and walks the narrow path together with Christ at the centre. As Jesus commands in Matthew 28:19-20, we are called to go, make disciples and trust that He is with us always.Support the show=========================================Support the show - simply follow the link below.https:/www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross========================================= Like listening to us? - Why not watch us toohttps://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast========================================= Visit our websitehttps://themuddycross.com=========================================
