Growth in the Pruning Season: My First-Gen Academic Journey

It’s never too late to begin again. ✨In this episode, I reflect on returning to higher education as a first-generation, non-traditional student at 26 while balancing motherhood, work, faith, and personal growth. After receiving the Carl D. Perkins Achievement Award at Luzerne County Community College, I found myself reflecting on just how much can change when you choose resilience. From dropping out at 17, becoming a single mother, walking away from a long-term relationship during a major pruning season, receiving a scholarship the very next day, and becoming more involved on campus, this season has reminded me that obedience, heartbreak, and growth can all coexist. This conversation is for anyone who questions whether it’s too late to start again. We’re talking about: • Returning to college as an adult learner • Navigating academia as a first-generation student • Balancing school, motherhood, and work • Trusting God through pruning seasons • Walking away from what no longer aligns • How obedience can open unexpected doors • Scholarships, campus involvement, and academic growth • Learning not to downplay your accomplishmentsYour path does not have to look traditional to be meaningful.Keep going. Your story is still unfolding.Thank you for being here <3 - AO. Send us Fan MailSupport the showThe Real Confessions Hotline: ‪813-444-8134‬ (Leave a voicemail for a chance to be featured on the show) Produced by: The AO Media StudioConnect with Aida:Instagram: @aidaozunaEmail: [email protected] on YouTube: youtube.com/@therealconfessionspodcastWebsite:therealconfessionspodcast.comWould you be interested in collaborating or being featured?Email: [email protected]

You’re Not A Bad Mom, No One Prepared Us For This

In this episode, Aida shares her real thoughts on what motherhood has felt like for her, not from a place of having it all figured out, but from being in it. You’re not a bad mom; no one prepared us for this. Motherhood will stretch you in ways no one talks about. The mental load, the pressure, the constant questioning of whether you’re doing enough… It’s a lot.Whether you’re a single mom, married, or co-parenting, this episode is a reminder that you’re not alone in how you feel. You’re doing better than you think. ♡Bible verses mentioned: Proverbs 22:6 & Psalms 127:3 NLTSend us Fan MailSupport the showThe Real Confessions Hotline: ‪813-444-8134‬ (Leave a voicemail for a chance to be featured on the show) Produced by: The AO Media StudioConnect with Aida:Instagram: @aidaozunaEmail: [email protected] on YouTube: youtube.com/@therealconfessionspodcastWebsite:therealconfessionspodcast.comWould you be interested in collaborating or being featured?Email: [email protected]

TRC Audio Documentary: What Does Culture Mean to You? Voices Under The Coconut Tree

In this special TRC Audio Documentary, host and producer Aida Ozuna steps outside the studio and into a live Dominican cultural experience. What does culture mean to you? That is the question guiding this episode.Aida attends Under The Coconut Tree, a photo exhibition by Rebel Spectrum, also known as Ambar Veras. The exhibit celebrates, questions, and explores Dominican identity through art, memory, and history. But this night was more than photos on a wall. You’ll hear bachata playing in the background. Laughter. Inside jokes. Conversations between strangers who, somehow, don’t feel like strangers.Aida interviews attendees she has never met before. They talk about culture, family, migration, pride, and what it means to carry Dominican identity into new spaces. There are serious reflections. There are unserious moments. (just being goofy lol) There is musica.  There is food. There is genuine connection. And this is all culture, too. This episode explores how culture shapes us not just through history, but through community, shared sound, shared language, and shared memory.Aida reflects on what it means to be part of Dominican creative communities, recently being accepted into a Dominican Writers retreat, and how spaces like this affirm identity in powerful ways. She walked into the room, not knowing anyone but she left reminded that belonging doesn’t always require introductions.Culture creates connection before names are exchanged. If you’ve ever wondered how your identity shapes the way you move through the world, this immersive audio experience invites you to reflect on your own story. Check out Artists  @artby.gigi and @rebelspectrumThank you for being part of the TRC community <3- AOSend us Fan MailSupport the showThe Real Confessions Hotline: ‪813-444-8134‬ (Leave a voicemail for a chance to be featured on the show) Produced by: The AO Media StudioConnect with Aida:Instagram: @aidaozunaEmail: [email protected] on YouTube: youtube.com/@therealconfessionspodcastWebsite:therealconfessionspodcast.comWould you be interested in collaborating or being featured?Email: [email protected]

Kindness Is Not Weakness: Why It’s Actually an Asset (dismantling the narrative)

In this episode of The Real Confessions Podcast, Aida reflects on a real-life moment that challenged the narrative that “nice people finish last.”After witnessing a woman crying alone on the street, Aida chose to respond with compassion. What followed became a deeper reflection on kindness, boundaries, and strength in a world that often confuses softness with weakness. This episode explores:The difference between kindness and people-pleasingWhy “nice” does not mean naiveHow to be the light without burning yourself outThe importance of boundaries in compassionFaith-rooted love in a hardened cultureKindness is not a liability. Do I Even Have Friends? Navigating Adult Friendships & How To Build Your Community with Intention

In this episode, I explore a question many of us think: “Do I even have friends?” As adults, friendships look different from how they did in childhood or high school, or even college. Life becomes busier with career growth, responsibilities, and family, yet there are still moments where loneliness can quietly creep in. I share how I personally navigate building and maintaining genuine friendships as a mom, a college student, and a woman navigating both corporate and creative rooms professionally. We talk about stepping outside of comfort zones to meet new people intentionally, nurturing the relationships already in our lives, and finding confidence in seasons that feel isolating.I also share words that are also rooted in God’s word, and this conversation reflects on how we were created not just to exist independently, but to build, multiply, and steward meaningful community. If you have ever questioned your circle, felt alone in your growth, or desired a deeper connection, this episode is for you.The AO Media Studio produces the Real Confessions Podcast, founded by Aida Ozuna Send us Fan MailSupport the showThe Real Confessions Hotline: ‪813-444-8134‬ (Leave a voicemail for a chance to be featured on the show) Produced by: The AO Media StudioConnect with Aida:Instagram: @aidaozunaEmail: [email protected] on YouTube: youtube.com/@therealconfessionspodcastWebsite:therealconfessionspodcast.comWould you be interested in collaborating or being featured?Email: [email protected]

What They Don’t Tell You About Growing Up: Career Shifts, Anticipatory Grief & Aging Parents

This episode holds a transparent moment. I recorded this on an early morning when everything hit me at once. This episode is raw, and I didn’t plan to cry (I promise lol) but that’s what made it REAL. So if you’re in a season of transition, you’re not alone. Whew, 2020 has been DIFFERENT, to say the least! lol. Lots of people are losing their jobs, losing loved ones, dealing with mental health issues, and just going through it so it definitely is hard to look past that but in this episode (#4) we will discuss topics like forgiveness, being open-minded, healing, cutting off toxic people and so much more! We are not meant to be positive 24/7 that's not realistic but I do believe that your attitude and outlook attracts certain situations into your life so these are just some of the things that help me remain happy and help me have a positive mindset! Why you need to slow down

Often times we feel like we aren’t moving fast enough or doing enough in life and we tend to RUSH our process. In this episode, me (Aida Ozuna) I talk about some of the reasons why we as humans (including myself lol) are very impatient and tend to want results overnight. Like the story, we all know "the tortoise and the hare" is an example that remaining focused and determined will get you way further than rushing things and being worried about everyone else is doing around you. Things like social media, family members/friends, and us being hard on ourselves are a few of the reasons why we as humans are very impatient. Something I have learned throughout my journey so far, is that the journey is part of it all and that we must learn to SLOW TF DOWN and embrace it. Yes we may face obstacles, struggles, and make mistakes but it's all about remaining determined and 10 toes down! It's okay to take breaks and take a step back to self-reflect but don't ever QUIT! Heyyy guys! Welcome to episode #2 of the Real Confessions with me, Aida Ozuna! You may be a business owner, entrepreneur, a parent, whatever it is that you are doing in life remember that it will not happen overnight for most of us! Throughout my journey, I have learned that you WILL face obstacles but it's all about having faith that whatever it is you are doing will be worth it at the end of the day.  SO remember to be patient, surround yourself with people that help you grow and evolve as well as documenting your journey for when times get rough!
