The Teachable Heart

Three of Jude’s commands simply describe ways in which we keep ourselves in the love of God. 

John and Jesus led with the most important thing they had to say.

Be circumspect, patient, and wise before jumping toconclusions.

“You will never know Jesus Christ as a reality in your life until youknow Him as a necessity.”  (Allistair Begg)

Like an African Impala, many Christians won’t “jump” if we can’t see where our feet will land.

John learned that making much of himself was meaningless. 

Remembering the brevity of life helps us live more intentionally.

The world will quickly forget your name, so base your priorities on who will be crying at your funeral. 

He didn’t get what he wanted, but he was grateful for what he had.

God always a purpose for the pain He allows.

Are you proclaiming Christ by both life and lip?

Instead of being led by our hearts, our hearts need to be led by God.

Biblical waiting describes an intense, active, forward-leaningexpectation anchored in faith.

We have been saved; we are being saved; and we willone day enjoy the fulfillment of our salvation.

“You were made for a person and a place.  Jesus is the person.  Heaven is the place.”  (Randy Alcorn) 

Jesus wants our consciences to be perfected and purified, serving us well, but not endlessly causing us guilt.

God has given each of His children a spirit of boldness and power, and not of timidity or fear.

The harvest will come, but it may come at a time and in a way we’ll never see.

Refusing to answer is an answer. 

God is not after perfection, but proper responses when He shows us a better way. 

It’s a shame we don’t teach children the whole song.

Two-thirds of the Trinity are praying to the Father on your behalf; rest and relax in that knowledge! 

People’s lives were changed.  Some lives were lost. 

If a person sees no meaning or purpose to their life, then it “justdoesn’t matter” how they live. 

While the wicked have no reason (or divine call) to care for us, we are commanded by God to care for, and genuinely love, them, even if they think us abominable.

Many people stumble at the idea of coming to faith in Christ because they won’t admit their need for Him. 

Jesus guarantees our ability to meet the requirementsof God.

We can help keep causeless criticism from hitting us by our honorable conduct and by honoring Christ as Lord.

Jesus can get past our locked doors. 

The goal of the entire Levitical system was to make men acceptable to God.

All religions fall into one of two categories - thereligions of ‘Do’ or the religion of ‘Done.’

The more difficult the conversation, the more important it is to adorn your words well.

The arm of the Lord is never too short to save!

The practice of idolatry usually seems perfectly reasonable to those caught up in it.

Loving your neighbor well includes trying to introduce them to Christ and their need for Him.

It doesn’t take a genius to live well with a wife.  In fact, the ‘know-if-all’ attitude will quickly work against most marriages. 

Anyone who rejects God’s instruction does notreject a human being but God.

When we repent, we will discover what Job did – that God will welcome us to His side.

Only those who have God are truly blessed.

There were a multitude of reasons God described Job as blameless and upright.

God is so intimately familiar with our suffering that He collects our tears and keeps track of what caused them. 

Paul did all things for the gospel; what are you willing to do?

“Grasshoppers” helped by God can do great things. 

His life was dedicated to seeing others come to a saving faith inChrist.

What the world sees as a foolish spectacle, God simply sees asspectacular.

We have many needs in this world, but none exceeds our need to be righteous before God. 

What Jesus DID was related to what Jesus KNEW.
