Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame! The four distinct faces of shame that all interplay with each other:1. Toxic shame (ouch!) there is something deeply wrong with me-i am bad.2. Invitational shame, opportunity to learn, grow, make amends, deepen empathy & put things right.3. The blamers & shamers- they project their own unprocessed toxic shame onto others. Always angry, always looking for the opportunity to be offended!4. playful shame. #186 - ‘Hubris or Humility?’
In this episode, I take a close look at two opposing energies in the human personality. What dictates how we present to the world? Arrogant, over confident, inflated, unpleasant, unkind..or lovable, warm, friendly, affable, modest, considerate, balanced & grounded..Are we a mixture of both? Are we naturally one way? Does choice enter the picture? I’l be discussing this & more & as usual we’l have some groovy tunes!Podcast Editor - Ger Kellett CLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST OF THIS EPISODE.........References --------------‘Gumboots’ Paul Simon (Ft The Boyoyo boys) from Graceland (1986)‘Can i kick it?’ A tribe called quest from Peoples instinctive travels & the paths of rhythm (1990)‘Games people play’ Lucinda Williams from Southern soul: From Memphis to Muscle Shoals & more (2020)‘Real’ Kendrick Lamar (Ft Anna Wise) from Good kid m.A.A.d city(2012)‘You can do magic’ Limme & the family cooking-Single (1972)‘All i want’ Joni Mitchell from Blue (1972)‘Everybody loves me, baby’ Don Mclean from American pie (1971)‘Maybe im amazed’ Paul Mcartney from Paul Mcartney (1971)‘Aint no cure for love’ (Leonard Cohen) performed by Jennifer Warnes from Famous blue raincoat (1987)‘The way it is’ Bruce Hornsby & the range from the way it is (1987)‘Everyday people’ Sly & the family stone from The essential Sly & The family stone (1968)

#184 - Do you wanna play safe? Or do you wanna be saved?
Playing safe, following rules & guidelines rigidly, can be a hiding place from real living. Playing psychological games ie: the intellectual, the cynical, the smarmy, entitled victim..grows old & tiresome..being saved on the other hand, requires courage, risking being vulnerable, willingness to walk, jump or dive into the epicentre of human love, relationships & experiences..are you curious? #158 - ‘The blame game-in a blame culture..’
This episode explores how we are quick to blame/judge & condemn each other, which is very different to taking ownership/responsibility & being accountable. In fact the blame game is how we avoid genuine self reflection & willingness to look at ourselves. This all plays out with in the ugly backdrop of a toxic culture of blame & victimhood. Trumpism, maga mentality has saturated our consciousness & sullied our world view with its cynicism, cruelty & unkindness. Do not despair! There is a powerful counter movement which is striving to reconnect with & reclaim good faith accountability, responsibility, honesty, love & compassion..fuck that blame bollox!!!Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE.........References -----------------------‘Blame it on me’ George Ezra from Wanted on voyage (2014)‘Cinder blocks’ Onward, Soldiers (2012)‘Friendship’ Chris Stapleton from From a room vol 2 (2017)‘Changes’ Black Sabbath from Black Sabbath vol 4 (1972)‘Fresh blood’ Eels from Hombre Lobo (2009)‘Eight line poem’ David Bowie from Hunky Dory (1971)‘Shame on the moon’ Bob Seger & the silver bullet band from The distance (1982)‘I’ll get along’ The first times-Single (2019)‘Walk this road’ The Doobie brothers (Feat Mavis Staples) from Walk this road (2019)‘Thats life’ (Music from the motion picture) Lady Gaga Joker Folie a Deux (2024)

#155 - ‘Light up your world’ (& maybe someone elses!’)
While there is definitely a universal, divine light enveloping & permeating each person & the world, we all have a personal responsibility to generate, activate & share that light with others. There is a choice involved, we can’t wait around hoping/praying it will just happen! We are called to co-operate & align with our own unique, unrepeatable & magical way of relating to life. #154 - ‘Soulful or Soulless..?’
Have you ever wondered: What is the soul? Is it real? What does it mean? How do i know i have one?!!! In this Pod I explore the meaning of the soul from a spiritual/metaphysical perspective. In science & psychology we refer to Narcissism within the cluster b personality group, from a philosophical point of view we have the Dark Tetrad which includes narcissism, Psychopathy, Machiavellianism & sadism..however, when observed through a Spiritual lens the emphasis is on the soul quality, presence, warmth & light..this is Soulful..alternatively, where there is a cold, flat, empty space devoid of any light..we wonder: Is there a soul there at all? We call this Soulless..Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE......References ---------------‘Long train running’ The Doobie Brothers from The Captain & me (1973)‘Sweet little mystery’ John Martyn from Grace & Danger (1980)‘In this world’ Moby from Moby 18 (2002)‘You have placed a chill in my heart’ The Eurythmics from Eurythmics greatest hits (1986)‘Cold Cold Cold’ Bonnie Raitt & Little Feat from Rock n Roll doctor Lowell George tribute (1997)‘The Game’ Dory Previn from Mythical kings & Iguanas (1971)‘The miracle of love’ The Eurythmics from Eurythmics greatest hits (1986)‘Lovin in my baby’s eyes’ Taj Mahal from Phantom blues (1996)‘Its only natural’ Crowded house from Woodface (1991)‘Soulshine’ Gvt Mule from The Deep end Vol 1 (2001)

We covered Bass & Drums, now its the turn of the guitar intro/opening, ya know those opening few bars/chords that grab your soul senses & leaving you with only one thing to say: ‘What (or who) the fuck was that!’ The guitar intro is crucial to the whole song, it decides weather you're in or not, if indeed you are going to invest in this tune! #144 - ‘No horse high enough’ (Invitation, support, challenge or judgement?)
In this episode, I take a close look at how we communicate with each other. What is our motive/intention if we want to say something to someone? Particularly if that is a challenge, a call out, or we are inviting someone to explore something? How do we receive such information? What about passive/aggressive radio silence communication? Which in fact is the loudest form of communication. I do focus on the ‘high horse brigade’ & how their clipped, judgmental, condescending approach creates a particular unpleasant dynamic-there’s something about that sanctimonious, fake victim tone that can turn the stomach & hurt your head. We also explore pashmina diverse culture & how they hide behind the ‘I'm cool & reasonable’ veneer. Either way, lets examine what we are saying to each other, why we are saying it, & the all important how we are conveying our messages.Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE..........References ---------------------‘Saddle up’ David Christie from Back in control (1982)‘Blind my mind’ Flunk from Morning star (2004)‘Sun king’ The Beatles from Abbey Rd (1969)‘Some people are crazy’ John Martyn from Grace & Danger (1980)‘Fake plastic trees’ Radiohead from The Bends (1995)‘Takin it to the streets’ The Doobie Bros from Takin it to the streets (1976)‘Communique’ Dire Straits from Communique (1979)‘I cant get with that (Schmoove version) from Come find yourself (1996)‘Any major dude will tell you’ Steely Dan from Pretzel logic (1974)‘On your way down’ Little feat from Dixie Chicken (1973)‘Pumped up kicks’ Foster the people from Torches (2010)

In this episode, I take a deep dive down into the gastrointestinal tract, more commonly referred to as our gut. I also explore the relationship between intuition & the gut, trauma triggers, critical thinking & integration...Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE........References -----------------------‘Kiss’ Prince from Parade (1986)‘Gut feeling’ The Coronas from The Wire (2017)‘Ive got a feeling’ The Beatles from Let it be (1970)‘Baby let me follow you down’ Bob Dylan from Bob Dylan (1962) ‘Got to have rock n roll’ The heartless bastards from Arrow (2012)‘Its a beautiful thing’ Ocean colour scene from Marching already (1997)‘Hungry for your love’ Van Morrison from Wavelength (1978)‘Out of the sinking’ Paul Weller from Stanley Road (1995)‘Willin’ Little Feat from Sailing shoes (1972)‘The Dancer’ The Frames (Glen Hansard) From Another love song (1991)

#142 - ‘Don’t ya just love a good cover story..!’
Lets take another trip into the fascinating world of covers, versions & interpretations of classic songs by other artists. There are so many fabulous options- I've chosen twelve & could probably do 12 episodes exploring different renditions of popular or loved tunes. While all this is going on, I invite you to examine your own ‘cover stories’ what are the good ones? Funny ones, what are you covering up about yourself that you are ashamed of or unsure of? Relax, make yourself comfortable, settle in & continue to listen....Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE........References -------------‘Everyday people’ (Sly & the family Stone) performed by Joan Jet & the blackhearts from Album expanded edition (1983)‘Buckets of rain’ (Bob Dylan) performed by Redbird from Redbird (2005)‘Sorrow’ (Feldman,/Goldstein & Gotherer) performed by David Bowie from Pinups (1973)‘‘Couldn’t get it right’ (Climax blues band) performed by The fun lovin criminals from Mimosa (1999)‘Say hello, wave goodbye’ (Mark Almond/Soft Cell) performed by David Gray from White ladder (1998)‘Case of you’ (Joni Mitchell) performed by Brian Kennedy from A love letter to Joni (2013)‘I guess thats why they call it the blues’ (Elton John/Bernie Taupin) performed by Alessia Cara Revamp: The songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin (2018)‘Fade into you’ (Mazzy Starr) performed by J Mascis from single (2015)‘Tired of being alone’ (Al Green) performed by Texas from single (1992)‘Midnight rider’ (The Alman Brothers band) performed by Paul Davidson (1975)‘Heaven’ (Talking heads) performed by Simply Red from Picture book (1985)‘Everybody’s talkin’ (Fred Neil)Performed live by The Tedeschi/Trucks band from Everybody’s talkin (2012)

#141 - ‘What’s your bass-line baby..?’
In this episode, we play around with catchy, famous bass lines, riffs, licks & breaks. I simultaneously explore baseline behaviours, underlying baseline energy. The bass is humble, unassuming, understated-yet it's vital for the whole band/song to function & work. The bass notes are deep in the core of the human soul, the drums are the heartbeat & the guitars, keyboards & whole symphony are beautiful expressions of our very essence...Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE.............References -----------------‘Late in the evening’ Paul Simon from One trick pony (1980)‘Walk on the wild side’ Lou Reed from Transformer (1972)‘The chain’ Fleetwood Mac from Rumours (1977)‘La femme d’argent’ Air from Moon safari (1998)‘Money’ Pink Floyd from Dark side of the moon (1973)Stepping out’ Joe Jackson from Night & day (1982)‘Another one bites the dust’ Queen from The Game (1980)‘Come together’ The Beatles from Abbey Road (1969)‘Dancing in the moonlight’ Thin Lizzy from Bad reputation (1977)‘Slave’ The Rolling Stones from Tattoo you (1981)‘Rikki dont loose that number’ Steely Dan from Pretzel logic (1974)‘Warewolves of London’ Warren Zeavon from Excitable boy (1978)‘All right now’ Free from Fire & Water (1970)

#140 - ‘Dark side of the womb.’
In this episode, I attempt to explore the taboo area of female abusers, women who are bad, evil, nasty & viscous. With expert collaboration from Ann O’Connell (aka Redz or Redzer) we dare to recognise & acknowledge female pedophelia... Maybe the final taboo... We explore how culture/society has a collective denial/resistance to seeing women as predators or perpetrators... Yet we know they certainly can be. For deeper understanding & healing all round, we believe that pretending or gaslighting this serious phenomenon, we do at our peril...Podcast Editor - Ger KellettCLICK HERE FOR THE PLAYLIST FOR THIS EPISODE..........References -----------------‘Evil Woman’ ELO from Face the music (1975)‘Queen bitch’ David Bowie from Hunky Dory (1971)Femme fatale Velvet underground & Nico from The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967)‘Criminal’ Fiona Apple from Tidal (1996)‘The Jack’ AC/DC from High Voltage (1976)‘Mother’ Pink Floyd from The Wall (1979)‘Trouble’ Popa Chubby from Booty & the beast (1995)‘Black magic woman Fleetwood mac from the greatest hits (1970)‘Killer Queen’ Queen from Sheer heart attack (1974)‘Babylon Sisters’ Steely Dan from Goucho (1980)‘Season of the witch’ Donovan from Sunshine Superman (1966)
