Transforming Community - Thursday Bible Study

We introduced a new topic on the habit of sharing one's faith and we explored why we need to share our faith.

Today's session was a conclusion on the patterns of rest in Scripture and a recap of the sessions we had on the habit of resting.

In this first session on resting as a habit that should be cultivated, we explored the patterns of resting in Scripture, starting with God in Genesis 2 and His commandments to His children in the Old Testament.

This session revisits all that was discussed on the habit of spending time with God.

We explored an ancient way of being immersed in Scripture.

In today's session, we explore practical ways on how to have a quiet time with God. We explored what a quiet is in our previous session.

We introduced a new series on the habit of spending time with God. In this session, we kicked it off by exploring why it is important to spend time.

We shared the vision to publish Anchored Devotional in paperback, audiobook and ebook and invited everyone to get involved. The expected release date is October 2025.

Today's session was a recap of the four sessions we had on fellowshipping with other believers.

At today's session, we explored three important ingredients of true fellowship - the Word of God, our identity as children of God and walking in the light (1 John 1: 1 - 7)

To further underscore why fellowshipping with other believers is important, we re-examined the identity of believers as the church of God, the called-out ones.

In continuation of the previous session, we explored practical ways we can fellowship with one another. Examples include through prayer, through a meal, etc.

We started a new series on fellowshipping with other Christians. In today's session, we briefly defined what fellowship means and explored three reasons why we should fellowship regularly with other Christians.

Today's session was a recap of the last 6 sessions of on the Habit of Financial Giving. We went through the topics discussed at previous sessions.

We reflected on the example of the Macedonian Church, on how they gave generously amid great adversity.

We concluded the teaching on tithing with a whistle-stop tour of tithing in the New and Old Testament and the Biblical basis for tithing as a Christian.

In today's session, we discussed the definition of tithing, including how we've come to know the definition. We also discussed God's expectations in the Old Testament.

We concluded the previous week's teaching by exploring the nature of wealth and riches that the Bible warns us about - its deceitfulness and the uncertainty of it.

We started a new series on the habit of financial giving. In this session, we laid the foundation on how why money matters to God.

At the session today, we recapped the teaching on fasting.

In today's session, we explore the different types of fasting, how long people fasted in Scripture and the outcome of their fasting.

Having established the definition of fasting last week, today we focused on why we fast and emphasised how fasting humbles us before God.

We started a new topic as part of our focus on growing as a disciple by exploring the definition of fasting. We also considered the theology of food and New Testament figures that fasted.

The session was focused on reminding everyone about what TC is about and where we are heading in 2025. We recapped on previous teachings in this series including: - What serving is - Why serve? - The role of gifts and talents in serving - Finding where you fit at church and at work

We concluded the topic of how to locate where you fit at work.

Today's session was a recap of the previous session as we had people who were not with us last week. Once again, we considered the various departments in church and were given various reflection questions to identify where we can possibly fit.

At today's session, we did an audit of the various roles available within a church community and explored where we could fit based on some reflection questions.

We had a fruitful session where we all concluded that everyone has a gift even if they go unnoticed.

In today's session, we focused on the eternal reward aspect of serving. We started by exploring that as Christians our faith is rooted in the resurrection. At today's session, we concluded the recap we started on the prayer series. We focused on the following: - Faith and perseverance in prayer - Spiritual warfare and prayer - Getting started with prayer - Speaking in tongues

Today's session was a recap of the teaching on prayer. We focused on - What is prayer? - Why pray? - Types of prayer

We concluded the series on prayer with a prayer meeting using the life of different Bible characters as baseline.

In this session, we explored the benefits of speaking in tongues as a prayer language based on 1 Corinthians 14.

At today's session, we answered some questions about speaking in tongues including: - can we speak in tongues at will or do we only speak when enabled by the Spirit - what if a Christian does not believe in speaking in tongues - what about speaking in tongues in a congregational setting

At today's session, we introduced tongue speaking - a supernatural ability that God gives to those who believe in Jesus (Mark 16). We also explored the various examples in Acts when communities of people received the gift of tongues.

In this session, we explored how we can use Scripture to pray by praying for what the Bible prescribes or using the words of Scripture.

We concluded on previous week's teaching on the role of prayer in spiritual warfare.

Today's session focused on exploring what Spiritual Warfare is

Rev'd Wonu Adefala from Salem South London led tonight's session focusing on Luke 18:1 - 8.

We concluded on the different types of prayer with prayer of forgiveness (Matthew 6:12) and prayer of protection (Matthew 6:13)

At today's session, we explored the prayer of petition and focused on Matthew 6: 11 'Give us today our daily bread.'

In this session, we started exploring the different types of prayer by using the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6 as a model for prayer.

We concluded on the remaining reasons why we need to pray. Although we had intentions to also explore the different types of prayer, our conversation veered off topic to focus on faith and other issues that may impact our ability to receive from God.
