On this episode, we are covering the last characteristic of the fruit, Self-Control. The Bible says that self-control is a fundamental virtue that is essential for living a Godly life. The Bible also says that self-control is a gift from God and that it is a fruit of the Spirit. Proverbs 25:38 says, "A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls." While we sometimes don't want to admit it, the only person in control of anything is God.

An Intermission For Fasting # 4 - 40 Days Through The Wilderness
In this podcast episode, Yemi and Philia outline our next corporate fast, 40 Days Through The Wilderness, and the goals we hope to accomplish during this fasting period. This corporate fast will begin on October 14th and continue through November 22nd. We will fast from 8:00pm to 8:00am daily and refrain from added sugars in our diet. During this wilderness fast, we are focusing on the 40 year period where the tribes of Israel wandered the wilderness on their way to the promised land. We are presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to God as we focus on a deeper spiritual connection and lessons to learn in our wilderness season. "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." (Romans 12:1 ESV)

Ripened & Ready E8 - The Gentleness Fruit
In this podcast episode, Yemi and Philia discuss the eighth and penultimate attribute of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) which is Gentleness. Gentleness is the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered. The act of gentleness is a strength and not a weakness. Gentleness is needed for all our relationships. It is a balm that can calm intense interactions. It is a balm to our soul and the souls of others through the application of grace (unmerited favor or goodwill). God loves us and exhibited gentleness towards us through the actions of Jesus Christ. Even with the gift of the Holy Spirit that dwells in us, oftentimes the communication is a gentle whisper which leads us and gives us direction. "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, 'This is the way; walk ye in it'; when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left." (Isaiah 30:21 KJV)

Ask God to help you develop goodness and the Holy Spirit will minister to you daily and tell you which way to go. "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21)

There were many times our impatience has caused us harm or harmed others. Let us remember the consequences of our impatience to give us the willpower to wait. Let us remember the goodness and patience of the Lord to encourage us to exercise patience with others and ourselves. Philippians 1:6 says, "I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ".
