Ok this is a cover song of The Velvet Underground's Jesus. If it's not obvious.

    Prince April

Ok this song is a remake of a song off my third album. Holly liked it and wanted to sing to it. So here we are!

    Shark Encounter

Lyrics from an essay by surfer George Greenough. Another track where I sent Holly some music and she made some vocals over it. I cobbled it together to make this mini epic. THIS IS JUST A DRAFT (for now ) ! :)

  18. -13

    Two Minutes Later

I sent Holly English some piano bit and she sent me some vocals. That's about it. Just raw music with a little embellishment. :)

    Your Destination

This was the last piece finished for the #AnotherGreenWorld project, a track by track response to Brian Eno's album. This one had to correspond with I'll Come Running, which had a lot to think about. One is that the sing was an older one, revised for Another Green World, and made more loving and celebratory (earlier it was just dull and snarky.) So I thought about revising an old song, including even a "fake Mountain Goats song" I once wrote. In fact the lyric line about the citadel largely comes from that song. And anyway, also the whoo-whoos and well, a Robert Fripp guitar solo would have been nice but he must be busy and I can't wait for him. Lyrics: At the light Your destination Don't make plans Don't make them yet We'll climb the mountain And light the giant's cigarette We'll climb the backside Of the Giantess We'll make our plans We'll do our best Head southeast I'll climb the milkweeds Of the citadel I'll bring Junior's Anniversary bell. Your destination Your destination

    Away Away

This one was a response to Everything Merges with the Night by Brian Eno. Nothing direct, it just had to be a song, and have some vocals and some consistency, and be generally about the senses and belonging and stuff like that. I like this one. The (human) vocals were recorded in a small hotel room in Paris. Not even Eno can claim that.

    Anarchestra

From the #AnotherGreenWorld project, this a response to Sombre Reptiles. Guitar and rhythm, not my strong suit, so this playful, semi-loud response. The "Anarchestra" is place in Providence, Rhode Island with dozens of homemade percussion instruments. Originally this track featured some of them but they got erased with time. Also the drumtrack is a stolen 9/8 from youtube, originally at my wife Leela's request, for a song she was doing for the Brian Eno school of song assignments. I took the distorted chords and percussion back for this track.

    Civilization

Part of the #AnotherGreenWorld project, this an imprecise response to The Big Ship. It's called "Civilization" in part because one of the chord progressions is stolen from Chris Whitley's "Wild Country", one of the best songs about leaving civilization (and life) ever.

  24. -19

    Dark Hounds

From the #anothergreenworld project, this one an imprecise response to Becalmed. "Dark Hounds" because the chords are from Hounds of Love. Ok enjoy!

  25. -20

    Little Lines

Another from the #AnotherGreenWorld project. This, an imprecise response to Little Fishes. Simple, I think this one might capture the original the best of the fourteen.

  26. -21

    Miyazaki

Another song in the #anotherGreenWorld project. This one an imprecise response to Another Green World which is really just one figure, built upon over to a crescendo. This one originally started as a song about Hayao Miyazaki. The lyrics are now gone, thankfully, but there is a bird cry in there I rather like and feels a bit Miyazaki-like.

  27. -22

    Crazy (Gnarls Barkly cover)

Really is an instrumental cover of Gnarls Barkly's Crazy. When I heard the two G chords at the end of the progression (a G4 and a G? A G2 and a G?) I just fell in love with it. This feels like Spirits Drifting so I let it be the ending of the #anothergreenworld project album. Enjoy!

  28. -23

    On Four Legs

Part of the #AnotherGreenWorld project, this an imprecise response to In Dark Trees. Virtually all the sounds are from the BBC animal archives, except the synth.

  29. -24

    Dark Blue

Part of the #AnotherGreenWorld project, this a response to Over Fire Island. But not even close. This one started in fact, in Brian Eno's songwriting course at #schoolofsong . The first 20 minute exercise. A lot of the stuff from that exercise got burnished out, but there are some skeletal artifacts. Not having real musicians to play with (or instruct), this is what you get :)

    Drive On! Drive On!

Ok well this one was one I wanted to borrow some audio from a Samuel Beckett audiobook I'm listening to (Molloy) but I didn't have the right plug in to grab the audio, and so I thought, well I'll see what they have online at archive.org and found Endgame, Krapp's Last Tape and Embers and so I downloaded them, but I couldn't hear them because I was at a loud cafe and for some reason Audacity is really super quiet on my computer, so instead of finding bits I wanted to use, by listening to them, I chose instead by waveforms. I chose 6 samples, entirely by look, and used them all here. The piano was recorded a day or two earlier, and is my cereal bowl, with cereal and spoon, being set down over and over again on the piano keys. I later decided this is the beginning of the #anothergreenworld project, in which I try to --quickly-- create a 14-track response to Brian Eno's Another Green World. This sits in a strange place, as a response to Golden Hours. Quite imprecise, but I found the actual songs the hardest to respond to. This is still one of my favorite tracks, and I think it serves the project. Alright, enjoy!

    Open Match

Part of the #AnotherGreenWorld project, this a response to Sky Saw.Nothing is precise. But I knew I wanted lyrics, and abruptly introduced, if possible. All the dynamics of Sky Saw are missing, but this is what you get :) Lyrics: One tiny flame A handful of names And spaces And feelings That never catch We can put everything we remember About childhood On a matchbook Or a match Open the book Just give me something to look at Open the book Just give me something to look at

  32. -27

    Likkey Lu

I'm not sure what this is all about. From the #anothergreenworld project. This one is sort of a response to "Zawinul/Lava". Since that one had a musician's name in the title, I put Likke Li's name sort of in here.

  33. -28

    The Empty Bench

The Empty Bench I wrote/played the piano bit before leaving for Gainesville for a month, where I borrowed a tiny foldable keyboard. I refined the ref, if you can call it that, on the new keyboard but still used some of the clumsy piano stuff in the mix. That's the kind of brash recklessness we do here. The lyrics came from some cards, an empty bench, and a dream of being on a ledge. I told Gabrielle Bell I was writing a song but the only lyric I had was "Maybe my friends will push me off this ledge like I want them to, or maybe they'll just go on laughing" and she said it was a good line. So there you go.

    Change the Rocks

Change the Rocks This started with those simple notes, played while Molly Rose was doing something in the same room. I think she's even in the mix somewhere. And then pulling a card of a monkey mother and her baby, in an icy lake, combined with a dream of changing rocks from one to another, and a myth I was reading about a lake with no footprints, and some other stuff, combined into this. Hurriedly assembled, thanks for listening.

    Odin's Walk

This one started listening to the Odin episode of Tim Miller's marvelous podcast, Human Voices Wake Us. wordandsilence.com/2023/05/16/the-…in-new-episode/ Somehow, I managed to write this little walking melody, and a majority of the lyrics soon after. Then I went away for 2 weeks, including two 16-hour train rides, but never managed to get this thing finished, but here it is. It's basically Sharkey's Day, really.
