Charvonne Carlson has been a Spiritualist for many years. She is currently opening her church, Church of Peace, A Spiritual Center, NSAC. She is a National Spiritualist Teacher, Certified Medium and Commissioned Healer with the National Spiritualist Association of Churches (NSAC). She teaches various classes on the history of spiritualism, healing and mediumship.  She is passionate about Spiritualism and loves to share her enthusiasm about the religion

Sharon Hatfield is a nonfiction author living in Athens, Ohio. Her newest book, Enchanted Ground: The Spirit Room of Jonathan Koons, was published by Swallow Press in November 2018.  Jonathan Koons was considered one of the most impressive physical mediums of the 1850s, and today Koons is credited with developing the trumpet used for voice communication in séances. His Athens County “spirit room,” offered public demonstrations of instrumental music, singing, and spectral hands. During her eight years of research, Hatfield found visitors’ accounts in the spiritualist press as well as letters and essays penned by Koons himself. The Journal of Scientific Exploration has termed her book “a fascinating snapshot of the Spiritualist movement in its infancy.”  A native of Ewing, Virginia, Hatfield earned undergraduate degrees in English and biology at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee. She became a newspaper reporter and later earned a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College in Maryland. She also has worked as an editor, English professor, and manuscript consultant.  Sharon has twice received an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council, most recently in 2018 for her work on Enchanted Ground. Her previous book Never Seen the Moon: The Trials of Edith Maxwell won the Weatherford and Chaffin awards for nonfiction.

Rev. Robin Reale, PhD (ABD), Special Education Public Policy, is an ordained Spiritualist Minister and Metaphysician through the Fellowships of the Spirit, Lily Dale, NY. Robin serves Spiritualist churches throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Indiana, and New York as lecturer, medium, and Spiritualist historian. November 1, 2000 was dedicated Robin Reale Day in Massachusetts following receipt of the prestigious Eugene Rooney Public Service Award for excellence in teaching & training. She served in Peace Corps Chad and Senegal, and consulted in Lithuania to rebuild the education system after communism.

She is the author of Social and Spiritual Transformation in African American Spiritual Churches (Routledge 2017) and co-editor of Esotericism in African American Religious Experience (Brill 2014). In addition to these works, she has published articles in the Journal of Gnostic Studies, Culture and Religion, and Pastoral Psychology. Barbara Sanson is a Registered Medium in Lily Dale, New York.
