Session Thirteen – Free Will vs Willingness

Send us a text with comments or questions This is a series created from the book “Be Love: A Book About Awakening” authored by Ned Burwell. This series is a guide for people who are seeking a life of purpose and peace told through the life experiences of Ned Burwell. The material is told through a variety of concepts, practices, anecdotes, and experiences. Hosted by Seamus EvelyThe Awakening Podcast series was created to give you the tools to live a more purposeful and peaceful life through the teachings of Ned Burwell, author of the book “Be Love: A Book About Awakening”.Session Thirteen – Free Will vs Willingness: So by the end of this series you may begin to feel the gravity of this series and how your life can be changed. There really is only one thing left to understand and that is whether are willing to surrender the will of your mind and accept the will of your soul. You may feel like there is a new you after hearing these sessions in quick succession but guess what? The old you is standing directly beside you with enough momentum to take over the new you. You will have a lot of sideways movement, backward movement, and of course, forward movement on your trek to enlightenment and this session clarifies that this is okay and totally expected. 11e0a1b11ae1Tools for Session 13Reflect on how you use your free will. Do you follow your mind, or do you look deeper within before you make big life decisions?Ask yourself: What is the will of my soul? Take some time with this question. Ask yourself before your mind takes hold, like before bed or when you first awaken. Then write down your answer. Another tool is to ask before you meditate. During the meditation, let go of the idea that you will receive an answer. Your answer may just come when you least expect it.Make small steps at surrendering the will of your mind. Notice where and when you can let go of little wants and desires. Work this into your relationships with others, staying present with the moment. Surrender your desire to leave this moment to endlessly chase thoughts in your mind.Take time to work at developing your ability to listen to your heart. Make life an adventure. Spend a day following your inner guidance. 1. Start by becoming quiet. 2. Listen and watch for clues. When it feels right or when you get a nudge or a sudden knowingness, act on it. 3. Do whatever your guidance is telling you. For example, go for a walk. If you are guided, stop into a store. Allow whatever comes. The fun part is to just trust, even if it doesn’t make sense to you. The longer you work at being guided, the more interesting it gets.As you keep practicing surrender, bring as much love into your interactions with self and others as you can.Support the show

Be Love: A Book about Awakening Full Download

Send us a text with comments or questions Be Love challenges you to look deeper within yourself, which is the beginning process of awakening to a greater truth and the discovery of peace. In this bool I present complicated concepts and distill them into an understandable and easy to follow format. Be Love was written for the beginner and for the advanced seeker of truth. This book is not another self-help book, it’s a book that challenges the status quo and gives concise direction to awaken. Be Love addresses the most fundamental aspects that keep us stuck in our mind, stopping us from experiencing peace. Be Love is relatable, inspiring and thought provoking. The beginning of the book has a subjective focus. I talk about the nature of the mind, emotions, thoughts and thinking. The middle is more object, as it guides the readers to look at their relationship with the material world and how they interact with others in their relationships. The end deals more with deepening your understanding of your soul and your relationship with the Divine. I share personal stories throughout the book and at the end of each chapter I offer tools to deepen your experience with the material. Be Love was written to appeal to a wide array of people. The first half of the book provides a fresh approach to maintaining better mental health and the last half is directed to the spiritual seeker of truth. Be Love is a practical guide to move the readers out of the maze of the mind, freeing them to experience a deeper understanding of themselves.Support the show

Chapter Twelve: The Creative Side of God

Send us a text with comments or questions As an artist, I have developed an intimate relationship with creation. Creating is not just what I do to make a living … it has helped me learn how to live. Working with my creative side has taught me a great deal about letting go and trusting. The nature of creativity is such that it draws from the unknown and manifests itself into the known. It is a gift given to us. Your ability to channel creativity will help in many areas of your life. It can help with problem solving and decision making. Every aspect of your life, from work to play and rest, can be enhanced by allowing creativity to use you. Working with creativity can become a way to live.In this chapter introduce some thought provoking ideas around the nature of creation, where it comes from and how it relates to God.Support the show

Send us a text with comments or questions Meditation: Is it a practice or a study? How do we meditate? What are the benefits to it? Can anyone do it? Is it even real? These are all very valid questions that I know I had about meditation, mainly because I have heard so much about it and never spent much time with it. In this chapter, I offer some great tools to begin practicing meditation and I dispel many things that are misunderstood with the practice.Support the show

    Chapter Ten: Unity

Send us a text with comments or questions This Chapter is split up into two parts. First I share what the concept of unity means and how to bring a deeper sense of Unity with ourselves and God, as well as with others. In the second part I share several stories from my personal experiences with others and how we can create unity in our community.  By looking at the qualities in others that we value and finding compassion and acceptance of others, we draw the experience of unity to ourselves and our community. Support the show

Chapter Six: Relationships Part one: Emotional Healing & Growth Through Relationships

Send us a text with comments or questions  Without question, this two-part section of the series will change your outlook on how to operate within the relationship you have with others, but more importantly how you look at the relationship that you have with yourself. You cannot possibly love another until you love yourself, and so with that being said the first part to this session deals more with having a loving relationship with yourself. The second part of this session is about how you then move onto having a loving relationship with another.Support the show

Chapter Two: Beyond The Mind's Desire

Send us a text with comments or questions Chapter Two: Beyond The Mind’s Desire: Do your desires serve your soul or do they serve your ego? It can be easy to become swooped up by the temptations that life presents us. With all of the luxuries in the world that are being thrown in our face, it can be easy to fall victim to desires. We can also believe that happiness exists in the things we want, but sadly it is only a matter of time before our mind comes up with the next thing to chase. If we have peace within, we no longer require temporary relief through the acquisition of thing after thing after thing.Support the show

    Chapter One: The mind

Send us a text with comments or questions Chapter One - The Mind: Did you know that you experience up to 100,000 thoughts per day? In this chapter, we explore the mind’s tendencies, how to better manage and use our minds, and why it is so important to just be cognizant of the realities of what is going on with our mind day to day.Support the show

The Addiction Fiction: Unraveling the Roots of Attachment

Send us a text with comments or questions In this episode, Kurt Shaye and I talk about some of the concepts he shares in his book, The Addiction Fiction. Kurt challenges mainstream thinking, nudging us toward a deeper truth that abolishes our old, outdated narratives, which keep us locked in a disempowered place. The Addiction Fiction by Kurt Shaye is an unflinching exploration of the human desire to cling—whether to substances, relationships, or identities that promise comfort but ultimately trap us. Through a narrative that blends raw personal experience with sharp philosophical inquiry, Shaye dismantles the conventional narrative of addiction, arguing that what we call "addiction" is often a euphemism for attachment. Drawing from his personal experiences with various substances, he explores how they evolved in his life—from initial escapes to reflective mirrors, and ultimately as catalysts for personal growth.Check out his book by following the link belowhttps://www.amazon.ca/Addiction-Fiction-Unraveling-Roots-Attachment/dp/B0F2N75GKQSupport the show

Send us a text with comments or questions In this episode, Lisa and I talk about how to resolve the conflict between our hearts and our minds. Al Lauzon: Addressing the Mental Health Crisis

Send us a text with comments or questions In this interview Al identifies some of the broken bones of society. As our discussion rolled on, he provided many insights on how to grow and be in this ever-changing world that we live in today.  He shares his deep and impactful thoughts about the changes he sees in this new world arising and how we can navigate the changes in ourselves to help create a metamorphosis in the collective consciousness so that we can ground and stabilize the new world that is in the process of becoming our reality. First, we start with talking about the mental health crisis. He shares that we need to adopt a participatory approach to change, and to do so, we must be willing to set down our old ways of doing and being in the world so that we can more deeply connect with the wisdom of our soul, which in turn leads us into to creating the changes we so desperately need. We finished our talk with the topic of nature and the importance of connecting to our natural world. Lastly, we discussed moving beyond gender and reaching into both sides of our polarities. I encourage you to listen to this talk and take in the critical message that Al has shared. Also, listen deeply to the message between the words and the powerful energy this talk holds.Al Lauzon is a retired professor from the University of Guelph. He has degrees in psychology, extension education, adult education and community development. Moss won't grow on his feet during his retirement; He continues to write on foundational issues ranging from issues related to technology, education, spirituality and sustainability. Al also writes about the human journey, and in particular, the evolution of human consciousness. Al sees that we need a new mode of being in the world, a new worldview and in his explorations of this new need is the argument that we are moving toward a participatory worldview. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous projects that focus on rural change and development. This includes rural healthcare, innovation, rural youth, food security, rural education and rural precarious employment, to name a few. He has several publications and can often be found sitting on many different boards that affect community well-being. I want to share two quotes I pulled from Al’s social media.“To live at the end of times is to live at the beginning of times should we choose to begin anew, and this is cause for hope.”“We are now witnessing the demise of one story (modernity), but hope is found in the emergence of a new story, one that will arise from the ashes of the old story, one that is more inclusive and includes all people and all life, a story that is global in perspective and scope. Our stories, as they evolve, each adhere to a developmental logic whereby each emergent story is both more inclusive and more complex. Such is the human journey and our time merely one of the many cycles of birth/death/rebirth that has characterized the human species' journey whereby the world is restoried. This process should give us hope.”Support the show
