It is Wild Soul Medicine Radio day again.That mid-point in the week where we locate ourselves inside the intensity and chaos of a life Unfolding and put our metaphorical finger down on the map to say, “We. Are we even IN a tunnel? Alexis Neely (artist name: Ali Shanti) is a bridge between the generations. She graduated first in her law school class from Georgetown and today uses her law degree to uplevel the consciousness of the legal field, and the families and business owners served by lawyers. Ali serves as a catalyst for new ways of thinking, a paradigm-shifter, lawyer, mom, author, and permission giver who is bringing forward radically new and much needed perspectives on how we make decisions about money, time, work, relationships, parenting and business. And she offers her personal experiences with living a new paradigm, road less traveled life to serve as a model of what’s possible when we allow all of ourselves to show up fully in family, life and new economy business.

After our pause last week to honor the Yes’s and No’s of the silenced feminine, today we resume our Holy Hot Seat sessions with the tender, violent, raw, and heart-breakingly real session of Joshua Hathaway.This one is so sacredly vulnerable I almost don’t know how to speak of it. The Gifts in it are of the deepest most rip-you-open kind. If I were one who believes in “trigger warnings” this one would have one on it, because it includes a graphic, detailed accounting of sexual violence and trauma. And… I believe that scratching the record by offering an undefended picture of what the anatomy of trauma can and does look like in a human experience - as we pull a thread of a seemingly innocuous inquiry and follow it to its roots - is worth “offending” our delicate places and shaking us out of our compartmentalized containers of all the things that hold us separate - from ourselves and each other.Violence and pain exist.And mostly all of us have experienced these things to varying degrees. When we take those shattered pieces of pain and try to protect ourselves or others from them, we only further segregate ourselves from the very things that are actually holy invitations to Come Closer.Our vulnerability inspires compassion and care taking in others. It’s been quite a week.If you’ve been online at all, you’ve witnessed the tsunami of Me Too’s flooding your social media feed.Face to face with what we already Know to be True and also bellied up to the Darkness of our Feminine Predicament.So many feelings to be felt, trauma to be processed, questions to be asked.And of course, Me Too.That time at church camp with the molesty camp counselor.The time in 6th grade when I was standing as catcher in gym class and the male gym teacher and boys on the other team were standing behind me and someone grabbed my ass. I turned around to find ALL of them laughing. Including the teacher. Humiliated and captive with everyone in on the joke but me.Again in 8th grade when I was cornered, alone in the school by the two brothers who were stars of the football team. Them aggressively chasing me and eventually pinning me up against the bleachers as they started to pull my shirt up. [Finally] saved by someone opening the hallway door so I could make my escape.The supervisor at my college temp job. Me standing [again captive] on the production line while he made excuses to touch my legs and back all day long. Capping it off just before the whistle blew by abruptly licking the entire length of my arm. My friend and I running to the bathroom and scrubbing my arm while trying to figure out what to do. Who to tell. It was the highest paying job in the area and we were temp help on the weekend. It’s hard to believe it has been a week since our last Wild Soul Medicine transmission.Ten days since Lance and I initiated our separation.It seems like eons ago and also just a moment or two that we began this phase of Becoming.Time feels surreal when you are in the Dying.Totally off script... “What’s it like to be you?”Really like?As our humanity evolves from a judgment/fear based one to a compassion/love based one, we are struggling to find a way to love and include it All.Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, entrenched patriarchists, the uber privileged.It is SO much easier to judge them than to love them.And if we are going to try to love them, to do some from a distance (with a little “holier than thou” thrown in for good measure.)Charles Eisenstein suggests that a foundational question in our move toward a Compassionate Society is to ask, What is it like to be you?Not in a partial way, as in, “If I were you, I would do better.”But in a Whole Way, as in, “If I were you, I would do exactly as you are doing. I almost took this week off. Happy Summer Solstice to our sisters in the Northern Hemisphere and Happy Winter Solstice to our sisters in the South. As we celebrate the still point between the coming and going of the Light, we are invited into reflection and celebration. It has been a big week for me.I couraged up and mended things enough with my family to be able to go to my dad’s surgery on Friday. With the inevitable twists and turns of hurt feelings, old wounds, and tensions running high - it could have gone down a lot of ways… But somehow we managed to keep our hearts open enough to Be With each other and to allow both our Love and our Pain to co-exist. I cleared a lot and I learned A LOT. And my dad is doing miraculously well. He’s actually being released from the hospital today - minus a third of each of his lungs.Choosing to become this intimate with life makes my heart ache. The Beautiful Suffering of the human condition at its best and worst. It’s not just my family… everywhere, the breathtaking beauty of Creation alongside the painful ignorance and violence of suffering. I am learning there is nothing to Make Sense Of. Releasing the mind from trying to armor itself in logic and reason, or a plan to fix or support, change or resist. But what is left without our defenses? When the seed releases its hard shell of protection in favor of the vulnerability of growth, there is much peril. Everything stacked against “success” and even evolution. And yet… The Light dreams a dream of the seed’s Becoming. The inevitability of Return activating the release of its hardened capsule in favor of the tender journey of New Life. Wandering, struggling, pushing against the obstacles without reaching back for what has been cast away. Only gently unfurling into What Is. And Dancing there in the golden Re-Union of Soul-stice.
