When we go through seasons of hardship, we can develop tunnel vision. For many of us, we focus on the bad things in front of us, and we forget that there is someone there who promises to be by our side - someone who promises to guide us through it, and His name is Jesus. Living up to the law of Moses without making a single mistake is like a basketball player scoring on every single shot they take… over the course of their entire life. But the truth is that you won’t make every single shot you attempt! The Bible teaches that even a single slip-up makes you unworthy of God’s presence. But Pastor Richard wants you to remember today that when you are in Christ, His righteousness and perfection is passed down to you.

We never know when we will run into a situation where we can share the Gospel with someone! But in order for us to recognize those situations, we have to open our hearts to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to us. Someone shared the Good News with us, so we should be willing to share it with others.

Until you realize that you are a sinner in need of a savior, you will stay at the back of the line, and you won’t encounter Jesus!

The only thing that can hold Jesus back from working in your heart and transforming your life is you. It’s your decision - whether to trust in Him for salvation and follow in the light of His Word. As Pastor Richard will encourage you in today’s message, the Kingdom of God is near to your heart when you are aware of your own weakness and need for a Savior. He is coming again, and those who have believed will be called up to be with Him. 

All of us long for justice. Some have a stronger draw for the world to be right than others, as sin dulls this God-given desire, but even in the cruelest heart, you often can find some remnant of this longing. As Pastor Richard will point out in today’s message, we find hope for this justice in Jesus. But we have to be patient. While we can be instruments of His peace and justice in this world, it will not be perfected till He makes all things new.

The marriage relationship is the most important human relationship most of us will ever have. You become one with that person. You’re connected spiritually, emotionally, and physically in a way that neither death nor divorce can fully separate. This connection is wonderful, but as Pastor Richard will warn in today’s message, if you marry someone who doesn’t share your faith, it creates a major challenge to your spiritual compatibility.  

God’s Word should always be at the center of what we do as the Church. If the focus is on a particular pastor’s interpretation, a certain worship leader’s talent, a specific stance on an issue, or a denominational creed, we’re missing the point. God loves you, and there’s nothing you need to do to earn, keep, maintain, or justify that love. You don’t have to follow any rules or regulations or perform any rituals. As Pastor Richard will clarify in today’s message, the only way to be saved is through Jesus. When you trust in Him, believing that He’s your Savior and Lord, you are saved. That’s all there is to it. It will change your life, but only in response to the salvation you’re given.

The verse that Pastor Richard is referencing today, where Jesus says that those who love Him must “hate” their families, has been a source of confusion and abuse at times, by those who misunderstand the heart of what Jesus was saying. Elsewhere in Scripture, it’s clear that hating anyone is the same as murdering them. We are to love others as Christ has loved us – but Jesus is our first love, and following Him should be our top priority.

Have you come to that place? As Pastor Richard continues our study in the Minor Prophets today, we’ll once again have our attention drawn toward Jesus. Hundreds of years before He would walk the earth in the flesh, these words of prophecy foretold the conditions of His arrival, as well as His second coming. When you submit your heart to Him in repentance and faith, you can find hope for what’s to come in this broken world.

At this moment, and frequently throughout its history, we’ve seen turmoil, violence, and war plague Israel and its surrounding region. Whenever things escalate over there, it can feel a little like approaching the top of a roller coaster. Many of us ask, “Is this it? Are we on the verge of Armageddon?” It can feel frightening, but as Pastor Richard will remind us in today’s message, we can have confidence knowing that Jesus wins.

It’s said that he was cut from the high school basketball team, so out of anger and determination, he practiced jump shots and free throws until his arms were numb. Jordan would eventually go on to become one of the most well-known players in the NBA. There’s a common trend in many open-world video games. As you play, you can veer off the main path to complete some side quests, and you might find some equipment in the process if you’re lucky. But one thing’s certain… as you approach a boss battle on the main quest, the developers will make sure you are well stocked. In today’s message, Pastor Richard teaches that when God calls you to complete a task, He will always equip you.

Have you ever seen those court videos where a family chooses to forgive someone who’s hurt them? I tend to ask the question, how can you do that when clearly, you’ve been wronged, but I think there’s a beauty in their forgiveness because it shows us how God forgave us. Today, Pastor Richard says God forgives you because of Jesus, and you can’t forget that! The enemy will try to lie and accuse you of wrong, but God sees you as His child.
