Kilderne belyser historien om det første "gule kort" i EU, som blev udløst i maj 2012. Dette system, der blev indført med Lissabon-traktaten, giver nationale parlamenter mulighed for at tvinge Europa-Kommissionen til at genoverveje et lovforslag, hvis en tredjedel af parlamenterne gør indsigelse. I dette konkrete tilfælde dannede tolv parlamentariske kamre fælles front mod det såkaldte "Monti II-regulativ", hvilket resulterede i, at Kommissionen efterfølgende trak forslaget tilbage.Det fremgår af kilderne, at det danske Folketing spillede en afgørende lederrolle i denne historiske begivenhed. Europaudvalgets daværende formand, Eva Kjer Hansen, identificerede forslaget som et ideelt mål for et gult kort og koordinerede aktivt indsatsen med andre europæiske parlamenter. Succesen skyldtes i høj grad en hidtil uset grad af interparlamentarisk koordination, herunder møder i København under det danske EU-formandskab samt løbende informationsudveksling mellem parlamenternes repræsentanter i Bruxelles.
