020. "Sugar helped me cope with trauma": Marla
from Life After Sugar · host Netta
Marla's childhood was filled with sugar... She tells how she used sugar to cope with difficult emotional situations in her family life. She now recognizes that she was probably chemically addicted to sugar from a very early age. "Sugar was like a best friend to me" she says. When she was in her late twenties, she decided she had to stop eating sugar, but it wasn't a smooth ride. With the help of a support group, she found freedom from cravings and from her obsession with sugar. She also found mental clarity, was more in touch with her intuition and became a better decision-maker with clearer boundaries. She learned to respect her body and herself more. With sugar no longer masking the pain and her emotions, she learned to take care of herself, and now of her daughter.
